Danielle Lewis is a 24 year old VP in charge of her family’s commercial real estate company. Falling in love for Danielle has never been an easy task, especially when her parents are always concerned that she doesn’t do anything to tarnish their image. After meeting Lucas, Danielle is apprehensive that her parents will accept him. However, Lucas portrays himself to be the perfect candidate to uphold Danielle’s family name and her parent’s welcome him with open arms. After someone close to her betrays her trust and causes a few skeletons to fall from her parent’s closet, Danielle’s life begins a downward spiral. Blinded by love, she is spun into a web of lies, drugs and deceit. After almost losing everything that she has worked so hard to build, she finds herself at a crossroad. Will she own up to all of the dysfunctions in her life and be able to find true love or continue the charade to protect her family’s image?
Danielle grew up as a pampered only child in an affluent family and runs her family’s real estate agency. Apparently she felt like she was in the shadow of her parent’s success and was searching internally for a career love of her own. Through various twists and turns Danielle finds herself at rock bottom doing some unscrupulous things and falling from her parents good graces. Soon, she needs to cross some of the bridges she haphazardly burned in the past & has to face some of the dangerous consequences. Admittedly, I thought Danielle was pretty ignorant through most of the book given her awful choices & irrational attempts to handle clear cases for the police on her own. Ultimately, judging books by their covers and being self absorbed led her down the treacherous road she traveled and eventually she saw the light. Good read
I smiled after reading this book and teared up a little. It was so gooooood that I was happy to have read it. Mz. Leebra Clark definitely takes the reader on an emotional journey through the life of Danielle Lewis. I also loved how EVERY character had a place in this story and not there just to be there. There were also no loose ends in the book. I AM expecting a part two, so chop chop get to it ma'am, lol.
Mz Leebra Clark has written a very interesting, urban, contemporary novel. This novel has so much going on that I found myself turning the pages, rapidly. There was drugs, murder, religion, theft and vandalism, and, of course, sex, all set against the backdrop of Atlanta. This book is easily illustrative of life, and the choices we sometimes make, as the author so skillfully portrayed in the life of the heroine, Danielle.
