As a cat lover, I dislike the tired usage of cats, black ones in particular, as "familiars," "minions," or other "evil" entities. There are actually people today who still believe old wives tales and silly superstitions surrounding cats. Words have consequences. Deranged subhumans need few to justify cruel acts involving black cats.
The story concept was okay, the ugly depiction of the cat was not.
