This is an outstanding collection of papers on Christian missions. Papers cover the Biblical foundation and mandate for missions, the history of missions, cultural issues associated with missions, and strategies for missions. This is the textbook for the Perspectives class.
The material represents the best modern views and advice for effective Christian missions. There is equal emphasis on support roles as for roles in the field. The encouraging new is that missions are getting close to the idea of every people group in the world hearing the Word and having disciples. There are lots of good stories from the field and loads of practical advice.
I read this for a two week version of the class. I appreciated the intensity of living and breathing this everyday, but don't recommend that approach. There is so much good material here that it takes some time between bites to savor and ponder. I am a big fan of the class.
My one criticism is that the authors are predominantly old, male, and white. The focus is on world missions and cultural sensitivity. Some diverse voices would strengthen the book a lot.
