A Bid for Love by Kathleen Fuller

Every week, Hannah Lynne brings her home-churned butter to the local market. And every week Ezra stops by to purchase some. Hannah Lynne knows not to read too much into it—Ezra is a confirmed bachelor and barely even glances her way, despite any hope to the contrary. But when Ezra bids an exorbitant amount to win the quilt she had her heart set on, Hannah Lynne can’t stop her heart from taking over her mind. Could Ezra finally be in the market for love?

Sweeter Than Honey by Kelly Irvin

Shattering a jar of pickled beets wasn’t the impression Isabella hoped to make on her first trip to the local Combination Store of Bee County, Texas. But as embarrassed as she was by the accident, she didn’t think it warranted the frosty reaction from the handsome manager of the store, Will Glick. As she soon learns, though, Will’s heart has been broken one too many times. And now, for some reason, Isabella finds herself determined to be the one to repair that broken heart and renew his faith in love.

AN AMISH MARKET is four novellas all written by very well known Amish genre authors.

“Love Birds” by Amy Clipston
“A Bid for Love” by Kathleen Fuller
“Sweeter Than Honey” by Kelly Irvin and
“Love in Store” by Vannetta Chapman

In Love Birds by Amy Clipston , Ellie and her mother are still mourning their brother and son, Seth. Lloyd was best friends with Seth and he is grieving as well. Ellie has been in love with Lloyd for such a long time, but he just thinks of her as Seth’s little sister. Lloyd feels like Ellie has betrayed him. Can she convince Lloyd that she didn’t betray him or will this keep them apart forever? Will they ever heal from losing Seth and get a chance at happiness once again? Their story is about loss, grief, forgiveness and healing. Be sure to have your tissues as you read this beautifully written story that you won’t be able to put down.

A Bid For Love by Kathleen Fuller is a wonderful story. Ezra is single and has his eyes on the beautiful and sweet Hannah he buys butter from at the market. He buys so much butter just to be able to talk to Hannah. At an auction a quilt is up for bidding. Hannah wants the quilt very badly and feels a connection to it, so she keeps bidding, hoping she will be the highest bidder. Get ready for a little mystery and maybe a little bit of romance in this heart warming story. Ezra feels badly for Hannah when she doesn’t win the quilt and really botches things up when he tries to make them right!

Sweeter Than Honey by Kelly Irwin is a great read with wonderful characters that you will instantly connect with. Isabelle has moved with her family from Tennessee to Bee County, Texas. Isabelle is having trouble fitting in. She tries to make friends and become a part of the community. When she runs into Will at the store things really take a turn, but will it be for the better or will it make everything worse? Isabelle and Will both have trouble trusting people, and that makes for a wonderful story of two young people who try to find their way with forgiveness and trusting each other.

Love In Store by Vannetta Chapman is a compelling story that is surrounded by mystery and characters who are nice and at times a little outspoken. Stella is quick to say what is on her mind and that doesn’t sit well with some people in the town. There is something very strange going on at the Old Mill and even in the town. David doesn’t really like Stella at first, but working at the same place, knows he needs to try to get along with her. As more weird things take place , can they work together to solve the mystery? They are both trying to find peace. This is a great story that will keep readers glued to their seats.

AN AMISH MARKET is a wonderful collection of novellas by four of my favorite authors Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller, Kelly Irvin, and Vannetta Chapman. I loved catching up on characters that I grew to love and making new friends. AN AMISH MARKET is a fantastic read for anyone who enjoys inspirational Amish fiction. This is definitely a book I would re-read. Reading a story by any of these authors is a treat in itself, but having all four in the same collection is fantastic.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson through Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I thought the whole market theme was fun, but I for sure (and certain! Haha.) have a favorite and the my line-up is:
“Love Birds” by Amy Clipston was the best one in this novella collection, in my honest opinion! I probably really enjoyed it because it’s connected to the author’s new series which I’m eagerly waiting book #2! (You can see review of the first book, Here!) Ellie & Lloyd were soooo cute!
While there was a lot of kisses, Kathleen Fuller’s novella “A Bid for Love” was highly sweet and cute.
“Love in Store” by Vannetta Chapman was different from the rest with it’s mystery aspect and an older couple. While not relatable for teens, it was still good.
And finally, “Sweeter Than Honey” by Kelly Irvin. Since I have not read any of this authors books connected to this novella (The Amish of Bee Keeper Country series), it left me very confused and lost. The family tree at the beginning didn’t help at all either, so I really didn't enjoy this novella.
Just a note, the cover is really cute! Hahaha! ;)

Love Birds…..my thoughts

Sharing the grief of loosing her brother and he losing his best friend, Ellie and Lloyd are brought together. They have known each other all of their lives and sharing their thoughts and memories spark a relationship between them.
When Ellie betrays Lloyd, or so he thinks, they both are devastated and you wonder if either of there lives will ever be the same? Will there be forgiveness as their religion teaches, or will each go there own way? The market in this story is a gift store.

A Bid For Love
Two shy people that can’t seem to express their desires are put together each week at the local market. Just how much homemade butter can a bachelor use?
What becomes the catalyst for these two is a quilt. His Mom is donating one, and he gives the lady in charge when she comes for it the closest quilt. Then he sees his hearts desire looking at the quilt that his Mom donated.
Will this be the reason these two open up to each other, or will it be the end to any relationship?

Sweeter Than Honey

In this story Will has felt like his heart has been shattered to many times to try again. Enter a new neighbor to bee country Isabella; she is just trying to fit in. These two meet in the Bee Store.
When she is befriended by an English girl, and decides to go out to a pool hall, Will is sure she isn’t for him. Things are not always as they appear, and this story will have you wondering how everything is going to work out.

Love In Story
This is the final story in this book, and mostly takes place at the Old Mill, in Nappanee, Indiana. This is the story of a widower who has moved her to help his recently widowed daughter.
Stella has never been able to have children and feels she has never been worthy to have a husband of her own.
When pranks and then more dangerous things begin to happen at the mill Will and Stella spend more time together trying to figure out whom is committing these acts. Through out the story Stella is a brisk and rather outspoken person, and you wonder how hurt she is because of her problem.
Now these are not twenty year olds they are in there fifties, but both come with their own problems and you wonder if there is even a chance for a relationship here.
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Thomas Nelson, and was not required to give a positive review.

Love Birds (Amish Heirloom)
I liked that this was Ellie's story. She doesn't get much face time in the rest of the series, but I still like her character. It was nice to see her find her HEA.

A Bid for Love
This was my least favorite story in this collection, but I still enjoyed this story. There were a few moments when Hannah Lynne and Ezra made me want to shake them. If it weren't for that I would have liked this story more than I did.

Sweeter than Honey (Amish of Bee County)
I have only read another novella in this series, so I'm not how there characters fit into the rest of the series. I did enjoy reading about Will and Isabella. I enjoyed watching there relationship grow, too.

Love in Store
This was my favorite story in this collection. I liked that this story involved characters that were in their twilight years. Also, I liked the mystery part of this story. I thought that it was interesting. More interesting than the romance, which I enjoyed.

Love Birds by Amy Clipston
While Ellie Lapp and her mother are still mourning the loss of her brother, Seth, Ellie starts working at one of the gift shops in town. Seth’s friend Lloyd is talented at carving wooden birds, but his father disapproves and expects him to take over the family farm someday. Ellie sees the beauty in Lloyd’s creations and insists Lloyd sell the birds in the gift shop where she works. As Ellie and Lloyd spend more time together, they begin to develop feelings for one another, but she accidentally betrays his trust. Will she lose any hope of a future with him?
My thoughts: LOVE BIRDS is a really sweet, young adult-ish style romance. Ellie is 18, but acts and thinks rather immature. When her brother dies, she takes a part-time job, but when her new boss says he'll have to cut her hours even more, she goes against Lloyd's wishes and tries to force him into selling his birds instead of respecting his wishes. Lloyd is a sweet young man, kind and caring, though deeply wounded by Ellie's actions. Will he ever trust her again. Well-written, sweet, and YA, this would be a story a mom wouldn't hesitate to allow her tween, young teen daughter to read. 5 stars.

My thoughts: A BID FOR LOVE is one of the best books I've read by Ms. Fuller lately. I loved Hannah Lynne. She is so sweet and innocent. Ezra is confused by her. He doesn't exactly understand why he seeks her out, why he wants her to be happy, and this ends up hurting her worse as she doesn't know how to act around him. The quilt brings it all to a head, but when the truth comes out, will it ruin any chance for happiness? A sweet romance. 5 stars.

My thoughts: SWEETER THAN HONEY dragged a bit for me and I found myself skimming a lot. I liked Will from some of the previous books in Ms. Irvin's Bee County series. A unique setting, it is interesting seeing an Amish community struggling to survive in southern Texas and the recent immigrants struggling to fit in. I enjoyed getting to know Isabella, and I loved the faith message and the way this story ended. 4 stars

Stella and David have to work together to solve the mystery of what is happening at the Old Amish Mill, and in the process they might just find that God has more in store for their future than they would ever have dreamed possible.

My thoughts: LOVE IN STORE is a romantic suspense set around two middle-aged people. They both work at a tourist site in Nappanee, Indiana, where strange, but so far, harmless things were beginning to happen. A rubber chicken and strawberry jell-o "blood" left in the ice house. Molasses spilled in the blacksmith shop. Innocent pranks that hinted that something bigger, something possibly deadly, was on the way. I was hooked and spell-bound from the beginning of this story and had to keep reading to see how it would end--and who-dun-it. A great story. 5 stars.

Overall, 4.75 stars for the collection. Rounded up to 5.

Amish Market is a collection of four novellas from some of the best Christian writers in the Amish category. One thing I really enjoy about Amish stories is that they are wholesome. I don't have to worry about whether there will be creeping secularism, loose values, or inappropriate behavior. That's not to say that there's never anything bad that happens— just that I know it will be clean. I don't want to watch or read anything that's not PG or G. I'm not that kind of girl. ~smile~

Amish Market doesn't disappoint. These are four good stories. It's so nice to be able to finish a story in a matter of hours or days instead of weeks. While I know some ladies have lots of time to read, this homeschool mama's hours to read are a bit limited especially this time of year.

Story 1 Amy Clipston's Lovebirds begins with a young Ellie and her mother mourning the death of Seth the family's only son. Ellie's father had died earlier. This left Ellie and her mother dependent on relatives and friends for support. One of her brother's friends, Lloyd, whom Ellie has secretly adored for years, helps in every way he can. This is a sweet story of young love that develops through disasters and pushes through misunderstandings. It was a light enjoyable story.

Story 2 A Bid for Love by Kathleen Fuller..... Mistakes, confusion, misunderstandings and a bit of mystery all come together to make this story one that combines a bit of mystery and suspense with a love story that surprises the young couple themselves. It's centered around a yearly charity auction and a grandmother's quilt.

Story 3 Sweeter Than Honey..... Isabella made a poor first impression on store employeed Will Glick when she broke a jar of pickled beets in the store. Will, heartbroken by not one but two women, is a cold man. Isabella finds herself wanting to break through the icy exterior, but ends up embarrassing herself in yet another compromising situation from which Will rescues her.

Story 4 My favorite story was the last. Vanetta Chapman's Love in Store.....
Perhaps it's because the characters were older. Both David and Stella were in their early fifties. A widower, patient and wise, and a spinster disappointed and bitter, David and Stella have a strange attraction to each other that takes each by surprise. They actually think they dislike each other to begin with. Mysterious pranks played by some young hoodlum bring them together to solve a mystery with an unexpected culprit. All that togetherness... well you'll just have to read it to see how it turns out.

My one disappointment was that I thought all four stories would intertwine in the end. Instead they all stand alone. They can be read in any order. Still, I did enjoy them very much. It's been awhile since I've read Amish fiction, and now I remember why I liked it. I don't know how true to life it is, but I can be sure it will be wholesome and safe to read. I cannot tolerate any vulgarity or explicit anything!

You're safe with this one!

The book is a wonderful collection of stories from authors that always deliver a wonderful storyline and keep readers interested till the very last page. I loved each one and thought that each story had great character development as well as lessons we all can learn from.

In Love Birds by Amy Clipston , Ellie and her mother are still dealing with the shock of losing Seth. Lloyd was best friends with Seth and it is hard on him as well. Ellie has been in love with Lloyd for such a long time, that she yearns to be with him always. Why does Lloyd think Ellie has betrayed him? Will this keep them apart forever? Can they finally find healing about losing Seth? The story is about loss, forgiveness and healing. Be sure and grab some tissues as you read this well written story that you won't forget .

A Bid For Love by Kathleen Fuller is a fun read. Ezra is single and has his eyes on the sweet Hannah he buys butter from at the market. How much butter can he possibly buy before she gets suspicious? At an auction a quilt is up for bid. Hannah wants the quilt so bad and keep bidding hoping she will be the highest bidder. Will she get the beautiful quilt? Is there something special about this quilt? Get ready for a little intrigue and maybe a budding romance in this charming story?

Sweeter Than Honey by Kelly Irwin is a great read with wonderful characters that you instantly like. Isabelle has moved with her family to Bee County, Texas from Tennessee . Will Isabelle have trouble fitting in? Can she make friends and feel apart of the community? What happens when she runs into Will at the Combination store? They each seem to have trouble trusting people , and that makes for a great story of two young people who find their way to forgiveness and trusting.

Love In Store by Vannetta Chapman is an intriguing story surrounded by mystery and characters that are nice and at times perhaps a little outspoken. I loved Stella so much. She is quick to say what she thinks which doesn't sit well with some people in the town. There is something very strange going on at the Old Mill and even in the town. David doesn't care much for Stella but working at the same place, he tries to get along with her. As more unexplained things take place , will they be able to work together to solve the mystery? Can they swallow their pride and find peace? It is a great story that I loved and will keep readers glued to their seats.

I loved all the stories in this wonderful collection . Each author has a creative way of writing which makes readers want to grab their books as soon as they are published. You won't be disappointment in this collection as each story flows smoothly and creates an unforgettable time of relaxation and enjoyment as you read this collection.

I have enjoyed each collection of novellas in the Amish compilations published over the past few years! The authors always entertain me with a featured subject, and each story fits perfectly in the book.

An Amish Market is another great compilation. I was blessed by each of the stories, as I’m sure you will be.

In Amy Clipston’s Love Birds, Ellie is determined to support herself and her mother, hiding the truth of their situation from her next-door neighbor Lloyd and others in the community. But when her desperation causes her to betray him, will these two ever have a chance to be together? Read their story and find out…

Kathy Fuller’s A Bid For Love was too cute! I could just picture Ezra with a freezer full of butter. But when Ezra tells Hannah he’s made a mistake, will he break her heart? I was sitting on the edge of my seat, refusing to put down the book until I finished this story… and all I can say to you is, “Don’t miss this story!”

Kelly Irvin’s Sweeter Than Honey is my favorite story in this compilation. Grumpy, fussy old Will is as prickly as a cactus. When Isabella makes a mess – that Will cleans up – the first time she meets him, she’s certain he wants nothing to do with her. I was cheering her on, and hoping she would learn from her mistakes. After all, the small community has already lost too many families – and young adults. Will Isabella be able to find a home in Bee County? Read the story and find out…

Last, but certainly not least, is Vannetta Chapman’s Love In Store. Vannetta is another favorite Amish author of mine, and she wrote a wonderful story. I identified with Stella more than any of the other characters in this compilation, and I was over-joyed when she was brave enough to help David Stolzfus solve the mysterious happenings at the Old Amish Mill. Don’t stop reading until you’ve read this story!

God bless you!

teensafeSuggested Age: 13+: The light romance is completely clean. There's mild suggest violence in the last book but nothing inappropriate.

An Amish Market is a collection of four novellas by Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller, Kelly Irvin and Vanetta Chapmen.  Each of the four novellas are easily read as a standalone story but also expand on existing character communities from each respective author.  It isn't necessary to have read any previous books by any of the authors but it's a nice treat for their regular readers to get a quick revisit with favorite characters.

Love Birds Amy ClipstonAmy Clipston led off the story collection with Love Birds. Ellie is still mourning the loss of her brother. You may recall this tragedy from The Forgotten Recipe and while that book covered the loss that Seth's fiancé felt--this novella took us into his home and into the life of his sister.

This sweet little romance really pulled me in from the very first page. In fact, my first goodreads update was, "Ellie and Lloyd better get together!!!"

This story made me sigh and smile.  Amy really has a way of writing characters that are genuine and authentic.  She is able to create an emotional bond to her characters in a way that few other authors can.  Love Birds was definitely a fantastic addition to the Amish Market.

ABidforLovebyKathleenFullerKathleen Fuller brought to Hannah and Ezra to life in A Bid for Love.  I really both of these characters. Ezra was a little frustrating at times but in a completely adorable way. I was really rooting for these two from the get go. I really loved the conclusion of this novella as well. Oftentimes with short stories I feel like the story is rushed and that it doesn't tie up well in the end. This story was just lovely and the ending made me shed a little tear.

Sweeter Than HoneySweeter than Honey is the first thing I've read by Kelly Irvin.  I wasn't familiar with the characters but I did enjoy the story. I will have to check out the other books and give them a go.  I thought that while the story was very sweet, it seemed to rush a bit more than the first two characters. I really liked Will and Isabella but I thought their journey to romance was just a little rushed feeling. I'd still like to check out this author though as the writing was solid and the characters were enjoyable.

Love_In_StoreThis collection is brought to an end with Vanetta Chapman's unique Amish mystery, Love in Store. There's just not a lot of Amish mystery out there. I guess it's because people write about them being a peaceful people and thus, there's not much murder and mayhem. Vanetta blended mystery and the Amish in very well together. I've always enjoyed a good mystery and this was a classic who-dun-it.  I'm very excited to pick up her Murder Simply Brewed book soon. This delightful little mix of almost conflicting interests was a breath of fresh air for the Amish genre.

I liked the first two stories in the collection (Love Birds by Amy Clipston and A Bid for Love by Kathleen Fuller) the best. They were both really sweet and cute and I thought both couples seemed really compatible and good together.

The second two stories I didn’t like as well. Sweeter than Honey I probably would have rated higher if I had read the whole connecting series (I have not). I didn’t mind the couple in that story but I didn’t like them quite as well as the first two couples.

The last story (Love in Store) I definitely liked the least. The couple didn’t seem to have anything in common. A mystery novella is kind of a weird concept because it seemed like everything was resolved way too quickly.

An Amish Market

An Amish Market is a collection of four well-written stories that will hold your attention from the first page.

Love Birds

Eighteen year old Ellie Lapp felt the need to fill the financial void left by the recent death of her brother Seth. She found a part-time job at a gift shop in Bird-in-Hand. Business was slow though and, unless they found something unique to bring more customers in, Ellie was in danger of losing some of her hours. She already only worked two days a week.

Lloyd Blank was Seth’s best friend and his sister Rebecca was Ellie’s. One day while at the Blank farm, Ellie accidentally stumbled upon Lloyd’s workshop. Lloyd is a talented whittler and makes beautiful birds. The birds are just what the store needs and Ellie proceeds to try to convince Lloyd to sell them. Lloyd’s father, however, won’t allow it. He looks at it as being prideful. Ellie has to have those birds in the store!

Ellie had been in love with Lloyd since she was twelve years old. Being a few years older, Lloyd only saw her as his best friends little sister. Will things change between them? Will Lloyd’s father grant him permission to sell his birds? Does he even want to?

You’ll have to read this story by best-selling author Amy Clipston to find out.

A Bid for Love

Hannah Beiler made butter and sold it every week at the Middlefield Market. Ezra Yutzy, a handsome, confirmed bachelor always came by her stand and bought butter to take home to his mother. While Hannah would like nothing better than to be courted by Ezra, she knows he comes for the butter and not for her.

At the auction to benefit a special needs clinic, Hannah couldn’t take her eyes off a quilt being auctioned. She bid as much as she could afford and prayed no one outbid her. She had to have that quilt! The quilt belonged to Ezra’s mother but he accidentally donated it to the auction. Ezra watched Hannah eyeing the quilt. He wanted her to win it too. When Sarah won instead of Hannah, he went to her and paid much more than she had bid. He then gave the quilt to Hannah. Could it be? Did Ezra have feelings for her after all? Why else would he buy her the quilt?

Read this story by best-selling author Kathleen Fuller to find out about the misunderstandings surrounding the quilt. You’ll also want to see if Hannah’s dream of being courted by handsome Ezra comes true!

Sweeter than Honey

In this well-written story, author Kelly Irvin reunites us with our friends in Bee County, TX. Isabella Schrock is fairly new to the community. Her family had recently moved there from TN.

Isabella took beets she had helped can to the Combination store. Unfortunately, she dropped the box inside the store making a purple mess. Will Glick was tending to the store for his uncle, Bishop Leroy. She did not make a good first impression on Will.

You remember Will…..his heart is still broken over his cousin Jesse leaving the faith and taking Leila with him. Will was in love with Leila. Can he forgive Jesse and Leila and make room in his heart for someone new? Uncle Leroy has mentioned to him that he needs a fraa.

It’s been two years since Jesse and Leila left and married. Can Will’s heart ever mend? Can he possibly love someone new? Will Isabella be the one?

Love in Store

David Stoltzfus began a new chapter in his life when he moved from his Wisconsin home to Nappanee, IN. His daughter, Rebecca, had moved there when she married. Rebecca is now widowed with three children. David was there to help with the children and also help pay the bills.

David found a job at the Old Amish Mill complex. The complex housed several buildings that attracted tourists. David’s job was giving tours in the icehouse, showing the English their method of getting ice from lakes and ponds. Working in the bakery was Stella Schwartz. Unlike David, Stella was rarely in a pleasant mood. Maybe that’s why she never married?

David stared noticing things weren’t quite right around the complex and brought it to the attention of the Mill manager. Water on the floor in the icehouse, a rubber chicken laying on a block of ice with an ice pick in its neck, girls and boys signs switched on the bathroom doors. Were these pranks played by English teens or was someone trying to close the Mill down? If so, for what reason?

You’ll have to read this well-written story by Award winning author, Vannetta Chapman to find out. You’ll be glad you did!!

An Amish Market (Amy Clipston, Kelly Irvin, Vannetta Chapman, and Kathleen Fuller) has four sweet, Amish romance stories by four great authors. Ellie Lapp is still dealing with the loss of her brother, Seth in Love Birds by Amy Clipston. Ellie’s mother, Margaret and Ellie no longer have Seth’s income to provide groceries and pay the bills. Ellie gets a part-time job at Bird-in-Hand Gifts and Treasures. The shop needs more unique Amish-made items to sell. Ellie believes she has found the right item when she sees Lloyd Blank’s hand carved birds. They are beautiful with exquisite details. Lloyd, though, will not sell them because his father believes it is prideful. Will this hinder the budding romance between Lloyd and Ellie? This is a sweet story that is well-written and easy to read. A good story about forgiveness and helping others.

Hannah Lynne Beiler is twenty-two years old and has a stand at the Middlefield Market in Middlefield, Pennsylvania in A Bid for Love by Kathleen Fuller. Hannah Lynne sells her butter and her mother’s homemade pies. Ezra Yutzy comes by every week to pick up butter (that he does not need). Ezra fancies Hannah Lynne but has not worked up the courage to ask her out. At the annual benefit for the DDC Clinic Ezra notices Hannah Lynne admiring a quilt that was donated by his family (at least Ezra believes he gave them the right quilt). Hannah Lynne bids on it and, unfortunately, does not win it. Ezra convinces the buyer to let him purchase it. Ezra gives the quilt to Hannah Lynne. This leads to a problem with both Hannah Lynne and Ezra’s mother. Hannah Lynne wants to pay Ezra back for the quilt (she does not have enough money to repay him). Ezra’s mother believes he purchased the quilt to return it to the family (only quilt his grandmother ever made). Now Ezra has a dilemma. Everything works out through God’s timing! This is a cute story, but not my favorite. It was a little awkward (uncomfortable) especially with the lack of communication between Ezra and Hannah (it was frustrating).

Sweeter Than Honey by Kelly Irvin takes place in Bee County, Texas. Isabella Shrock and her family have just moved to the area from Tennessee. Isabella wants to fit in and make friends. This is a new start for her and her family. But can she find the right friends? Will Glick works at the Combination Store (owned by Bishop Leroy). He has burned too many times (by women). Can Isabella help Will?

Love in Store by Vannetta Chapman is set in Nappannee, Indiana and is a mystery. Stella Schwartz never married because she could not have children. It has made her bitter. Stella is a tour guide at Old Amish Mill complex. David Stolzfus is a widower who just moved to the area to assist his daughter, Rebecca (widow with three kids). David got a job at the Old Amish Mill. When pranks (dangerous ones) start happening around the complex, David is asked to investigate. Stella assists David is finding the culprit before gets seriously hurt. What else will these two find during the investigation?

All four stories were enjoyable to read. I especially liked Love in Store (fourth story). They are all well-written and have good messages in them. If you enjoy Amish fiction, then you will like reading An Amish Market. I give An Amish Market 4 out of 5 stars.

An Amish Market
By: Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller, Kelly Irvin, and Vannetta Chapman
This is a collection of four different novellas by four different authors in An Amish Market. You do not have to read them in order.

Love Birds : An Amish Market Novella
By: Amy Clipston
Amy Clipston continues the story of Ellie Lapp, her mother, and Lloyd who was Seth’s friend. Ellie and her mother are struggling after the death of Seth. This is a sweet love story about trust, betrayal , and forgiveness. Ellie has loved Lloyd since she was a very young girl. Lloyd thinks Ellie has betrayed him. Can he ever trust or be friends with her again? I love the story and the characters, both were easy to follow. I felt sorry for Ellie and Lloyd. At times I felt tears gathering in my eyes and caught myself saying NO NO. I highly recommend Love Birds, I am sure you will love it as I did. Amy Clipston did not disappoint me.

A Bid For Love : An Amish Market Novella
By: Kathleen Fuller
I love this novella by Kathleen Fuller. Her story and characters both are easy to follow. Ezra is single, and a very kind man of 27. He cannot seem to stop buying butter from Hannah at the market. An old quilt is put up for bid at the auction and once Hannah sees it , she cannot get over it. Who made this quilt? This is a heartwarming story around Ezra, Hannah , and the quilt. Will this quilt bring them closer or will it send them further apart?

Sweeter Than Honey: An Amish Market Novella
By: Kelly Irvin
This was a really sweet novella to read. The story and the characters were both easy to follow. Isabelle and her family has just moved to Bee County, Texas from Tennessee. So she is new and wants to make new friends. She has a sweet run in at the Combination store , this is also where Will Glish works. He tries to help, but how does Isabella feel about him helping her? Now Will has been burned by a few women before. Can Isabella help him?

Love In Store : An Amish Market Novella
By: Vannetta Chapman
Love In Store is a novella in An Amish Market. I really loved this novella, but I have not found any books of Vannetta Chapman I have not loved. Chapman weaves us a novella about mystery and strange things that is happening in Nappanee , Indiana and The Old Mill. Stella Schwartz and David Stolzfus both work at The Old Mill. David thinks Stella is a very bitter woman with a sharp tongue and Stella wants to stay far away from David. Mystery yes, Strange things start to happen At The Old Mill and around town. Is it the Amish playing pranks or the Englischer? Can Davis and Stella work together to find out who is behind all these happenings? Has God brought the two of them together for a reason? I highly recommend Love In Store , I think you will love it as I did.
I was given a copy of this book by the author and Thomas Nelson Publishing for my honest review.

Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller, Kelly Irvin and Vannetta Chapman have out done themselves in this 4 book collection.

Love Birds by Amy Clipston
This story follows Ellie and Lloyd who are both are feeling the loss after the death of Ellie's brother. Ellie finds out that Lloyd carves beautiful birds and she suggest that he sell them in the store she works at two days a week. Lloyd doesn't want to because his father said it shows pride. He gives Ellie on of the birds as a gift to her and she shows it to the shop owner. He tries to convince Lloyd and his father into letting them sell them. Something changes when Lloyd and his family find out that Ellie and her mom are struggling to make ends meet and provide food after Seth's untimely death. It changes for the better. Loved this story.

A Bid for Love by Kathleen Fuller
This story follows Hannah Lynne and Ezra. Both like each other but are unwilling to show or tell the other how they feel. Ezra gives the wrong quilt for the auction but didn't know it. At the auction he sees Hannah Lynne admiring the quilt and placing a bid on it. Hannah didn't win the quilt but her friend does. Ezra asked how much she paid for it and offers double the price. With quilt in hand he gives it to Hannah who agrees to take it on one condition, that she clean his house and make curtains. Ezra's mom tells him about the quilt and he tries to get the quilt back but doesn't want to tell Hannah why. Eventually he does confess and what happens next is delightful.

Sweeter Than Honey by Kelly Irvin
This story follows Isabella and Will. Isabella believes she will never marry and having moved with her family to a new town. Will believes he will not find true love after the being betrayed by two other girls. Isabella is saved by Will when she is found with a bunch of teenagers that are on their way home from a bar. Will eventually becomes a minister of the church and finds true love. Story of never giving up and having faith.

Love in Store by Vannetta Chapman

This story involves Stella and David. Both work together to find out who is causing trouble at the Old Mill where they both work. Thinking that it may be teenagers Amish and English alike. Although many of the troubles is minor it starts leading to bigger problems. Eventually they find the culprit and are shocked at who it is. And also a happy ending for both Stella and David.

Thank you ladies for a delightful read.

An Amish Market is a very entertaining collection of Amish novellas, written by four talented authors. Each novella stands on its own merits and is well written with authentic characters who represent believable situations. I enjoyed each of these novellas and recommend them, particularly to those who love reading Amish fiction. These are excellent representations of the Amish faith and lifestyle.

Amy Clipston's novella portrays two young Amish adults who find an attraction to each other, but an age difference may stand in their way. This is a very sensitive and lovely story of the challenges of young love. I found myself wrapped in this story, and before I realized it the story was complete.

Kathleen Fuller's Amish tale is poignant and filled with misunderstandings that lead to frustration and disappointment. A quilt plays a very important role in this story, and the story of the quilt is very touching. This sentimental story was a wonderful journey through the trials of young adults searching for happiness. I was thoroughly enraptured in the story of the quilt, and wished the story could continue.

Kelly Irvin's novella features a young Amish man and young woman, both at crossroads in their lives. Fearful of what the future held they chose their paths only to discover that their choices would affect their future lives. This novella is an excellent example of choices and their consequences. I wasn't sure which direction the story would go, but as the words flowed I found a lovely outcome.

Vannetta Chapman's characters in this warmhearted novella are charming, and for the most part, likable. Detailing regarding the Market is realistic and descriptive of a typical Amish community. Ms. Chapman does her homework and does it well! Mysterious events begin altering the atmosphere of the community, igniting both fear and anxiety. As with Ms. Chapman's other books, this one is filled with charm and mystique. Her approach to Amish fiction has a different twist from that of other authors, and I love that refreshing approach!

Amy Clipston starts off the book with a bang. I loved the story and wished it was longer! Her characters are realistic and well developed. I felt like I had know Ellie my whole life. I was rooting for Ellie and Lloyd from the start! The story moves at a great pace and my only complaint was I wish it was longer. I hate it when a great story ends. This was a fantastic read and a great follow up from The Forgotten Recipe.

Kathleen Fuller has the second book in the novella. A Bid For Love was a sweet story. I enjoyed Ezra and how he bought so much butter from Hannah Lynne that it was overflowing in his mother's house. The characters were well done and easy to identify with. Ezra and Hannah Lynn made a fantastic couple and the story tied up nicely.

Kelly Irvin is a writer I'm not as familiar with. I was drawn into the story from the start. I felt Isabella's embarrassment as she dropped the jar of pickled beets on the floor. Having moved numerous times growing up I also identified with how hard it is to fit into a new place and start over again. I really enjoyed this short story and plan on looking into more of her books.

The final story was by Vannetta Chapman. It was a unique ending to this great trip to the market. There aren't many Amish mysteries out there which makes this one stand out. The story moves quickly and kept me guessing! This was a fantastic way to end the book!

Overall, the book was a wonderful read. Each story embraces the theme of Amish shops which ties them together, but each writer brought their own styles which made the stories unique and throughly enjoyable.

This contains four Amish novellas. I love these type of books. If I'm not familiar with an author, this gives me something to read and I'll know pretty quick if I like the story. All four of these are a hit. In each of them you will find people like you and me facing the same struggles. Each author is talented and her writings hold your attention.

Amy Clipston's "Love Birds" (don't ya just love that title). Ellie finds work
to help her support her mother and herself as she hopes a certain Amish
man notices her. But she does something that he's not sure he can trust her.
Got your attention? Yay! Read the book!

Kathleen Fuller's "A Bid for Love" (now that title has you wondering huh?) Need butter? Hannah makes it and Ezra buys more than his mamm needs. Hmm! Why? He isn't looking for a wife. A quilt with a hidden meaning comes to surface. Got your attention? Yay! Read the book!

Kelly Irvin's "Sweeter Than Honey" (I love honey especially with peanut butter). What does pickled beets and honey have to do with this book. Will's past makes him hesitant about women, tries to keep his distance but finally sees what he's trying so hard not to but will Isabella wait on him. Got your attention? Yay! Read the book!

Vannetta Chapman's "Love in Store" (hmmm, love don't you just love that word?) Love can come at any age but will Stella step out and embrace it or continue to feel sorry for herself and in the process comes across as grumpy. Oh but maybe there is someone who will break down
that wall? Got your attention? Yay! Read the book!

An Amish Market brings together 4 wonderful authors in one book. I have enjoyed every book that I have read by these four ladies. Each gives us a look into the Amish way of life.

Amy Clipston in Love Birds continues the story of Ellie Lapp. After the tragic loss of her brother, Ellie must find a way to help her mother and she continue to live in their home. But will an old family friend become more to her?

A Bid for Love by Kathleen Fuller brings together a confirmed bachelor with a young woman who has secretly had a crush on him. Will he see that she has become more than just someone he wants to help but more someone he wants to love?

Kelly Irvin tells the story of starting over and too many heartaches. Will has had his heart shattered one too many times. But when newcomer Isabella creates a mess at his store what is a guy to do? Will Will take another chance at love?
David Stoltzfus has moved to Indiana with the intention of helping his recently widowed daughter. Being a recent widower himself, the last thing David expects is to find love with spinster Stella. As he grows to care for her and she for him, they must first find out who wants to shut the Old Mill down before someone gets hurt. Vannetta Chapman is a master at writing Amish suspense.

I would highly recommend An Amish Market for one of those nice cozy evenings in front of a fire. I received a copy through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

An Amish Market is another collection of good Amish novellas by some great authors. Generally, I prefer longer novels, even series, where you can really get involved with the characters and their lives. But this book, like pretty much all the Amish novella collections I've read, gives something of a break from the longer books, providing sweet stories that can often be read in one sitting with the chance to start a new story next time you pick up the book.

The stories are quite different in style, characters, and setting, but they are all connected in some way through an Amish store or market. The collection provides glimpses into Amish life in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, and Indiana, with the main characters ranging in age and experience from a young girl's first job outside her home to a middle-aged woman who long ago gave up the dream of marriage. Sweet young love, broken hearts, cold hearts, and a touch of mystery round out these enjoyable stories.

Fans of good Amish fiction should enjoy this well-rounded collection of stories.

Thanks to one of the authors, Kathleen Fuller, and her publisher for providing a copy of An Amish Market in exchange for my honest review.

Four great Amish romances in one place. Each of these stories touched me in different ways.

In Love Birds, Ellie only wants to help Lloyd. Her intentions are good, but the result doesn't turn out quite like she'd envisioned it. Through communication, the misunderstanding is rectified, but not before hurts abound.

Ezra, in A Bid for Love, made me chuckle. All that butter. Even now it makes me chuckle. (Sorry, I don't write spoilers, so you'll have to read to figure it out.)

I've read the prequels to Sweeter than Honey (though it's not necessary to enjoy this story) and looked forward to Will's story. Isabella struggles in a new place, and her struggle is compounded by miscommunication and misinterpretation of events. It's a real quagmire until things are straightened out.

I enjoyed Love in Store, though it was more along the lines of an Amish romantic suspense. Vannetta Chapman has long been one of my favorite writers.

In all, each of the stories was enjoyable, and I will definitely read them again in the future.

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.

A year ago I was living in York, Pennsylvania, the gateway to Amish country, as I so lovingly called it. York is a mid-sized city resting slightly to the right of the Blue Ridge Mountains and not quite as north as the Poconos.
Being the adventurous, somewhat lonely, single that I was (and at times still am) I would drive around the state visiting and exploring the neighboring towns and taking in the sights. So, needless to say, when I opened up An Amish Market and the first novella, Love Birds, was set in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a city located a mere 40 minutes east of York, I pretty much jumped out of my chair in excitement. I spent many weekends driving to Bird-In-Hand and the neighboring towns to explore the cute shops, meander on the backroads viewing the local Amish farms, and buy delicious goodies from their side-of-the-road stands or at the local farmer’s markets. This novella was like re-living my time in Pennsylvania, and it was fun to reminisce!

Review of An Amish Market

This book contains four novellas by different authors.
“Love Birds” by Amy Clipston
“A Bid for Love” by Kathleen Fuller
“Sweeter Than Honey” by Kelly Irvin and
“Love in Store” by Vannetta Chapman
Love all four books combined into one. Love how they were written around the Amish Market. Ellie & Lloyd, Hannah Lynne & Ezra, Isabella & Will, and Stella & David were all brought together through meeting at “An Amish Market”. We all learn from these books that when you love someone you are true to them, never do things behind their backs nor deceive them. And how love starts with just a friendship. Life changing forever love. And how even someone who has never married can find true lasting love no matter their age. I loved all four of these books. I allowed myself to be in the books, living their lives right along with them. I love the Amish and I love reading about them. Their lives are so simple yet wonderfully close, faithful, and loving. Thank you to all the authors who wrote these four books. Look forward to reading more.

I have to admit that these kinds of books – a group of several novellas – are not my favorite type of book to read. I tend to find that each story is not as fully developed as it could have been and either ends too abruptly, or is not as detailed as I would have liked.

I enjoyed this grouping very much, however. Perhaps the novellas were a little longer than some I have read, or perhaps the authors did a great job developing the characters, but these stories were not lacking depth or details.

I kept thinking, “This one is my favorite” until I remembered the previous one. I guess they are all my favorite! I do have to admit that I particularly enjoyed “Love Birds” because I had met Ellie in “The Forgotten Recipe”. It was nice to read about her from a different perspective.

This book has a lot of appeal for any reader. If you are a fan of Amish fiction, this is a great choice!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson Fiction Guild in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

“Love Birds,” by Amy Clipston is the first of four great novellas in An Amish Market. It is a delightful read! Ellie Lapp recently started working at the Bird-in-Hand Gifts and Treasures Shop. She really enjoys working there, and the extra money has been helping her mother and her get by, especially since the death of her brother, Seth. Lloyd Blank, Seth’s friend, has been helping Ellie and her mother with the farm. Ellie and Lloyd start spending more time together and develop a fast friendship. Could this friendship develop into something more? Ellie makes a mistake and betrays Lloyd’s trust. Will he be able to look past that and rekindle the friendship they once had?
Amy Clipston does a great job of bringing the characters to life in this book! Once you start reading, you will feel like you are in Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania visiting Ellie’s quaint gift shop. A very enjoyable read!
