Flynn is getting ready for the worst summer ever at Mission Beach, to help his dad prepare Grandad Barney's house for a sale, but Flynn's dad won't tell him what happened. And when 2, orphaned cassowary chicks, Peanut and Jumble, decide to enter Flynn's holiday, the truth is really bugging him.
A can't put down extravaganza by the one and only Samantha Wheeler.

A junior novel mixing a bit of courage and family mystery with an environmental message. I like that it doesn’t minimize the risks in dealing with birds like cassowaries – actually, I don’t know that there are many birds like cassowaries! – and emphasizes the respect we need to show for nature.

Ten-year-old Flynn knows nothing about Cassowaries. In fact, he doesn't know anything about this whole place called Mission Beach. The Rehab Center, the Banana Farm and of course Grandad Barney. Everything is a mystery! Dad never wants to tell him, same with mum, they always change topic.
And now even Cassowary Chicks! And if that's not enough, there's a cyclone coming... Peanut is safe, but where's Jumble?w

A cute little book on the importance of self-confidence and family values as well as honesty. I recommend this book to kids aged 8 or older than that.
