The journey may ended for the manga but, not for us the living. We preceeded the departee. By continue on living, that's the best thing we could do for our love one. Shin finally found his warmth. And he realized he couldn't be like his father. But, that didn't mean his love was mediocre.
Overall, the art style was towards gothic. It was confusing a bit until I realized they are Japanese who love those style. It didn't mean black or darkness or death for them. It meant hope and freedom. And it was kind of poetic as the plot was about death.

Works handling topic such as "death" pretty much always lead to tears/getting emotional. Here we got even more than that; creative and not that predictable stories, characters development, romance and amazing art by Mihara-sensei especially the costumes/clothes - Azuki ❤ )
Generally I recommend The Embalmer to everyone.
P.S. I totally loved the "warmth" concept.

Mangę pt "Balsamista" autorstwa Mitsukazu'x Mihara'y połknęłam w jeden dzień. Ta pozycja jest dla mnie zupełnie wyjątkowa gdyż swoją fabułą wzbudziła we mnie naprawdę wiele głębokich emocji i przemyśleń. W mandze śledzimy losy kilku głównych bohaterów mierzących się z różnymi życiowymi sytuacjami które mogą zdarzyć się każdemu z nas. Tytułowy Balsamista to wrażliwy kobieciarz- Mamiya Shinjuurou. Jest on młodym mężczyzną będący w połowie Japończykim i w połowie amerykaninem. Postanowił on pójść w ślady swojego ojca, próbując zrozumieć ten zawód, wykonywać go z jak największą starannością i szacunkiem do zmarłych oraz rodziny denatów. Często jednak przez obcowanie z już nie żywymi ludźmi potrzebuje ciepła żywego ciała które znajduje właśnie w objęciach kobiet. W miarę rozwoju akcji coraz bardziej poznajemy każdą z postaci; ich charaktery, motywacje do działań i historię. Zagłębiając się w lekturę czułam coraz to większe przywiązanie z głównym bohaterem. Jego reakcje, cechy charakteru, relacje jakie tworzy z innymi ale też inne aspekty sprawiły iż jest to pierwszy raz kiedy tak mocno zrzyłam się z fikcyjnym bohaterem. Wywarł on na mnie wielkie wrażenie
"Balsamista" nie jest kolejną mangą gdzie występuje bohater który ratuje świat przed czarnym charakterem. Ten komiks pokazuje czytelnikowi jak piękne a zarazem bolesne,ulutne i trudne jest życie a także jak wpływają relacje jakie tworzymy z innymi osobami. Autorka w swoim komiksie ukazuje różne oblicza śmierci zarazem nie gloryfikując jej. W mojej opinii ma to za zadanie m. In choć trochę spopularyzować w Japonii zabieg balsamowania który to wciąż jest w tym kraju czymś nowym i nie do końca zrozumiałym. Przechodząc przez kolejne tomy mangi, niejednokrotnie po policzkach płynęły mi łzy z uczuciem goryczy w sercu ale i zwykłej empatii podczas wgłębisnia się w bolesne sytuacje, pojawiały się także momenty kiedy na mojej twarzy pojawiał się uśmiech ale i takie podczas których zapierały mi dech w piersiach.

I didn't like how this manga ended; it was very far from what I expected when I read the first four volumes.
Volumes 1 and 2 has given a glimpse on the character of Shinjyurou (which was later on re-translated to Shinjurou) Mamiya, a Japanese embalmer. In Japan, being an embalmer is a profession that is looked down upon by many because of its process and how it is seen as a morbid practice. We have seen in the first two volumes the resolve of Shinjyurou as an embalmer who performs his job in an artistic manner, even convincing his clients that embalming is not that bad of a job because of how the bodies turn out after the process.
Volume 3 is all about Shinjyurou's back story. Here we answer the what's and the why's of his personality. We saw how he grew up resenting his father (who was also an embalmer) before he realized how important the job was, not only for his fater's sake but for the others who are counting on him as well. We saw how he was awed to see the body of his mom being restored to a youthful, beautiful woman right after her death which made Shinjyurou took after the footsteps of his father. We also saw the reason why he has to feel a body right after embalming, and why he was having difficulties being true to his own emotions, all the while having an unorthodox manner of coping mechanism right holding and embalming a dead body.
However, Volumes 4 to 7 lost its spark. The philosophy and ideas about life and death have been overcome by the character of Shinjyurou falling in love with Azuki. Azuki has always been there, subtly hinting to have a crush on Shinjyurou, but I thought this whole idea of the character falling in love wouldn't be entertained in the development of the story because the story itself deals with death. I found it out of place to suddenly read a romantic development between the two, even having a new character to be introduced, only to be used as a plot device to keep the romance going.
All in all, I give this manga a 3 out of 5. The story should have just anchored its plot on the theme which was introduced right from the beginning and ended it in that same central idea to fully close the circle of story development.
