Outage: The Change is Book 5 on the Outage series. I recommend that you read the previous books before reading this one. I got this as part of the 6-part Box Set for 99 cents, which I think is a steal. Do not get me wrong. I do not believe that it is a perfect story, but there is a lot to love in this set.
The writer writes each chapter from the point-of-view of each character, such that when the character is in a given situation, the reader feels what the character is feeling. It enhances the experience to make the reader complicit in the actions taken. The suspense is built and felt as an organic experience. Tom is still kicking around and there is a new situation that Tom must experience despite surviving the hospital. Really good continuation and denouement, of sorts.
Love, love, loved this series. The conclusion for 'The Change' (Outage, #5) was perfection. I was gripping the armrests of my chair as I listened to the emotional final stand between man and beast. The marvelous Troy Duran had me edge of my seat as he narrated all the twists, turns and horrific scenes with perfect pacing - and without ever missing a beat. A huge thank you to both Mr. Piperbrook an Mr. Duran for the 16+ hours of thrills, chills and much appreciated escapism I received from this epic series. Highly recommend.
I enjoyed this last story in the Outage series. All five stories take place within a couple of days. The author sets up a perfectly isolated town and unleashes the horror upon the population. I wrote before that I felt this series reminded me in a good way of an early Stephen King novel. Only time will tell if T.W. raises up to King's level, but he is off to a great start.
I will have to branch off and check out some of his other stories. As a fan I came across a short story follow-up to this series. Have not read it yet, but suspect it could lead on to something else.
Right now the author has a triple pack combo of the first 3 books and then the last two stories by themselves. I suspect soon that all 5 will be collected into one thriller.
The massacre at the hospital is over. Tom’s survived another night. But with only one more night to feed, the wolves are more dangerous than ever. And Tom isn’t feeling like himself anymore.
With each book I read in this series, I was left wondering what could be worse than this. And with each new book, the author showed me. So I came into this last book with open eyes, knowing it was going to be crazy. And Piperbrook gave me so much crazy. So much suspense. So many bloody werewolf scenes. And a protagonist I’d grown too fond of. That’s not wise as the character’s usually don’t survive. And that ramped up the suspense for me.
The ending is violent. It’s almost over and the wolves won’t go gently into the night. And the epilogue is a hoot. Or should I say a howl.
If you like the sound of this one, be sure to start at the beginning of the series. Each books picks up right where the last leaves off.
I’ve read all of TW Piperbrook now as well as his work with Bobby Adair and thoroughly enjoyed all of them, although they do cause me to have the occasional strange dreams! While werewolves are not my favorite character, this series was really a fun read and I flew through them. His writing is engaging and he draws you into the characters. He is also great at communicating with his customers!
Loved this book, like the rest in the series I could not put it down, even when I knew I had to get up for work in the morning!!! I had to keep reading to see how our survivors were going to make it from one moment to the next with crazy blood thirsty werewolves lurking about wrecking havoc!
This is the last story in the Outage series and it wrapped up the storyline in good style. Now I know that I said in reviewing Outage 4 that I liked my werewolf stories to portray the werewolves as the fiends they are and not as an oh! gosh! I am a terrible werewolf. Well this time I have to say that the character, Tom, actually made me root for one of the werewolves in the story. Then there are the two humans, who try and bargain with the werewolves. Believe when I say that doesn't work out for them. This story was as fast paced as the others in this series. If you like werewolf stories that don't make werewolves out to be just misguided individuals then try this series.
This is a really strong series. But if you've made it this far you probably know that for yourself. I was stunned and awed by the first three installments. The author's ability to keep a story moving that fast while continually drawing and the reader was something unusual. The fourth and fifth installment changed gears a little bit. I'm still really strong. Really great books, but I can tell the author I had to dig a Little deeper in his bag, Perhaps not expecting to have to write those additional installments. That said it held quality through the conclusion.
This series just kept building tension as the plot evolved. I got more into the Werewolves when the author wrote more about them as humans, when Tom realized to his horror,he can sense the man who was helping him was a Werewolf too. The man is waiting for the Moon that evening, and thinks Tom is helping two people just so he can tear into them later. Read back to back if you can. It's the best way 🌕🐾
I'm so sad that the end is coming... That was such a good series. If you want more, there is a short epilogue (10 pages) available as "book six". If you want more, there's a short novel with Silas and Elizabeth (the kids) in: Leaders of the pack: A werewolf anthology which is really great (the first four stories so far, I haven't finished it yet). ;)
The fifth installment of this series takes you on the ride of your life with the unexpected twists and turns to finish out the series. Kept me wanting to keep on reading it and I finished it within two days. Five stars all across the board on this five series!
A little graphic but a must read. Keeps you on edge to see how the characters will or if they will survive. Some new challenge around every corner. Kind of leaves you hanging; thinking how did that happen. So you are left hoping for another book.
A good, tense, fast-paced story, well written, with believable characters (despite the genre), which, I assume, will continue developing throughout the series.
An awesome end to a great series. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes cold winter nights and werewolves. I hope he writes more books in this series.
An excellent read. I loved this book, not quite as much as the others but still good enough for five stars. I opened the page and started reading and then that was me totally lost in it. It’s a must read.
A brilliant final book in the Outage series, as Tom heads toward his final battle. The tension was immense, page by page my heart was pounding with the fear of what was going to occur. Mr Piperbrook is outstanding at keeping you guessing. Without giving anything away; I thought the ending was a huge surprise and it was very fitting. Great series and I'm only sad that it has come to an end.
Excellent excellent books!!!! This is a true nail biter....when you like a character you never knew if they were going to survive or not. The last book was fantastic...loved how it ended but wish there were more books to read. You definitely need to read in order or you'll be totally lost. A MUST read if you want to sit on the edge of your seat!!!! Happy Reading :)
I absolutely loved loved this series. It will be in my top 3 for sure. Looking forward to reading something else from this superb author. If u looking for horror this is it x10.
The Outage Series was Awesome, I wasn't ready for it to be over already! I loved everything about this book, and trust me when I say that just because I'm done reading this series doesn't mean that I won't be reading it again in the future!!!
