I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
I liked the concept of this book and the synopsis caught my attention at "murderous mermaids, seductive fairies, and manipulative elves". I did feel like it was a lot like The Mortal Instruments in many ways but I didn't really mind.
The writing was pretty good but I felt like the writing could have shined so much more if the editing was better. I really hated the editing. There was a paragraph that was the same sentence twice (how does an editor miss that?!) and several other scenes just made really terrible editing. It ended up being really distracting from the writing and I could never really get into the book because I felt like I was having to edit as I read.
I normally like it when readers learn about things along with the main character but I felt like there was very little world building. Eliza and the reader are kept in the dark so much, I felt like it was lacking any information at all.
I was annoyed and frustrated with Eliza for a lot of the book because she never seemed to ask the right questions and when she did ask questions, she never got answers. I wanted to move forward with the story but because Eliza was never able to grow as a character from learning about her powers, she never developed.
Overall, I could keep going on and on about this book. As a critical reader and someone who often edits for my writer friends, I couldn't stop wanting to fix a lot of things in this book. If the editing was better, I think I would have liked this book so much more. I couldn't really enjoy the story because I felt like I was editing the whole time. But other than that, I think this series has a lot of potential.

Take one smart-mouthed, scared but well-meaning novice witch, too many secrets to count, tons of personal agendas and this take on witches is going to leave you “spellbound.’ Fast-paced, with great dialogue and a smorgasbord of characters, no wonder it’s hard for Eliza to figure out who can be trusted and who can’t. Should she beware of Donovan, the hottie with the attitude or should she follow her instincts and seek his help? Can she figure out how to save her mother from the evil she has turned to? Will she live long enough to finally manage to use her powers? Fun reading with a sense of the magical and Mystical just like the title said!

Michael has written a story that grips the reader from the moment they open the book. Eliza's life is surrounded by shadows and secrets. Though she does her best to understand what her mother has been keeping from her for years, it's hard for her to accept the fact that she's a witch. In this day and age, witches are a thing of the past. Until her life takes an unexpected turn, it's then she starts to believe in the unknown.
We find ourselves immersed in Eliza's plight, meeting a slew of characters along the way. I like the way Michael has turned the lore surrounding elves, mermaids, and fairies around in such a way that it makes you want to know more about why these creatures are so evil. His twist on all things witches is also quite intriguing.
Though Eliza starts off as a clueless teenager, unsure of what she should be doing when it comes to her magical powers, she grows into who she becomes. She has a difficult life to accept, but she does so knowing that things will eventually turn around. I'm looking forward to more of what Michael has in store for Eliza and the rest of her magical world.

What a Book!! First let me say a HUGE thank you to Michael Weekly for sending me his book.
This novel really jumps right into the story, with Eliza getting ready for College, and meeting some new friends and cute (Hot) boys! Oh but there's one more thing...She is a Witch. So I'm sure you can imagine that there would be a lot of things going on for Liz, not to mention the amount of items that are secured in her backpack every day...
This book was definitely fast paced for me, and I found that as soon as you get through maybe the first 50 pages, and a couple *ahem* New characters are introduced, you really start to take off into this new world. I found myself understanding a lot early on, but still questioning so much at the same time. Wondering what was going to happen, and kind of foreseeing a few moments, kept it so intriguing!
I do wish that there was some more about Liz and college, as that is definitely an aspect that I would have loved to see. If there was more of her living her life as a student, and certain aspects being combined within her other half of her life would have made it that much better (like more relationships, parties, friends, professors etc.)
Also, can we just take a moment to talk about Donovan?!! How come there is no ship happening for these two!! I hope that I'm not the only one who is thinking this, because even though #whereisalex was kind of interesting to have in the story (because he really was) you can totally tell that Liz and Donovan need to be a thing...You can just feel it when reading the connection that these two have between the lines ;)
Overall I really enjoyed reading Mystical! It was so action packed, had some contemporary moments, as well as had some kick-butt scenes that were amazing! I loved the writing style, and all of the little pieces that made the novel that much better! I do wish that there was a little more with the aspect of her "normal college" life as well as fully talking about her skills, the secrets, as well as Donovan. I honestly couldn't stop reading it, and felt like it was a great New Adult Fantasy novel!

I truly enjoyed the concept of this book, it was unlike my normal reads and I loved the story. I enjoyed being able to see Eliza grow as a person and as a witch. I also liked that even as she grew as a witch that she retained some of her socially awkward qualities!
I rated this book 3.5 Stars because although I really enjoyed it I couldn't get over the fact that even after being edited it still had multiple distracting mistakes/errors. At one point I came across a paragraph that was the same sentence twice, how do you not catch something like that in editing? Also I came across a point where Eliza realized she didn't have her broomstick and then in the same situation/scene maybe 2 paragraphs later she all of a sudden is looking at/examining her broomstick that she didn't have with her!
Overall this book is great but I feel like it needs another round of editing before I could recommend it to others because the errors are a little to distracting when they come up.

I can’t believe I’m saying this again, but once again, an idea with potential has been ruined by rushed publication and poor editing. Maybe I have high standards, since I’m starting to sound like a broken record with these blog tour books.This story had a fresh twist on witches and the potential to be a kickass paranormal action series (think Buffy, but creepy fairies rather than vampires). Unfortunately, the writing was stilted and riddled with errors, poor phrasing (“You’re much different and more amazing.”) and weird summary paragraphs after any action. There were mid-sentence tense changes! I VERY MUCH DISLIKE MID-SENTENCE TENSE CHANGES. Ok, I’ll try to put my grammar nazi personality back in her box…

I just couldn’t get into the story; it was like I was being repelled by a magnet. It didn’t help that the first chapter was this super confusing info dump that turned out to be some kind of dream/memory from when the main character, Eliza (pronounced E-lee-suh, as she repeatedly reminds everyone), was 14.
Books that contain magic and other fantastical elements should be, in a way, more believable than books without. A good fantasy/paranormal book will make you believe the impossible. Sadly, this book was anything but believable. Why?
Eliza was an idiot. No seriously. It took her half the book to figure out something that I’d guessed and then confirmed within maybe 20%. She jumped to conclusions that were just plain ridiculous (like Jared being a corrupted mystic). Weekly was trying to throw twists into the story, but I could see all of them coming.

Mini rant! Eliza had red hair and green eyes. Like that’s soooo common in every day life and soooo rare in YA/NA literature. Yeesh. AAAAND she’s clumsy and has acne and a flat chest… UNTIL SHE STARTS “TRANSITIONING”. Of course she gets to be this rare creature (ginger) and then all her “flaws” go away as she becomes a full-on witch. AND she looks nothing like the girl on the cover.
Eliza is 20 years old and thinks the only acceptable PDA is “holding hands and the casual peckon the lips”. She thinks making out in one’s car at college is akin to having sex in public. Get over yourself, girl.
Eliza and her mother had a weird relationship. Her mom was really protective and didn’t want to tell her anything for fear of endangering her, and then she got all cray cray on her. It just seemed a bit too farfetched.
Eliza found out she was a witch when she was 14, and then learned nothing more between ages 14 and 20. Nope, not buying it. Oh, and she never stayed out after 8pm. If I were her, I would have done snooping of my own, pestered my mother, broken curfew and more. Unrealistic teenager, right here.
I was told to ‘show, don’t tell’ when I was in elementary school, and yet it seems that a lot of new authors missed that lesson. This is why you need a good editor!
Eliza let some guy she’d just met that day come up behind her in a shop and put his hands on her waist. Later, Eric grabs her arm tightly, leaving instant bruises (bruises don’t show up instantly). After all this, Dawn still helps to set them up on a date, and Eliza agrees! Oh wait, maybe this fits under the “Eliza is an idiot” category.

After pursuing Eliza rather aggressively, including beating up a guy that bumped into her in the hallway, Eric then seems to drop out of the story after he’s fulfilled his duty to the plot by giving her a reason to be at a rave on a beach where there are mermaids waiting to kill her and a mystery dude waiting to save her.
Maybe this is something US-centric, but college seemed more like high school than my experience of university and what I’ve heard and seen from other people and in movies/TV. In this “college”, students are bitchy and cliquey, and people you aren’t friends with notice you’ve been missing? When I was at university, there were far too many students and too much coming and going with different schedules for people to bully each other or notice when they’re missing whole days of classes. Unless, of course, you shared the same schedule and got to know them. But in Mystical, I just couldn’t believe that Stacy, who Eliza barely knew (though she seemed to know her name on the first day of classes), took the time to victimise Eliza, noticed she’d missed class and then found her address and showed up at her house.
There were inconsistencies that shoved me out of the story. For example, in one paragraph, Eliza thinks:
His girlfriend is looking for him, but she isn’t too worried. I don’t know how, but I can just tell that she isn’t worried, not really.
This is then followed, a few paragraphs later, by:
I don’t know how she’ll react because I know, deep down, she’s worried about her boyfriend. She doesn’t want to show it, but I know.
At about 54%, I had to just stop reading. I couldn’t handle any more. It still wasn’t clear by that point what exactly the main plot was. There were so many random things happening that seemed important for 20% and then went bye-bye, like the whole Eric thing! When Stacy suddenly showed up at Eliza and Dawn’s house and wanted to take them out clubbing – and they agreed because, hey, it’s not like they’d already learned on three occasions that going out after dark was potentially fatal, and they’re totally friends with Stacy – I just closed my Kindle and said, “Hell no.” I genuinely said that out loud.

“Fairies definitely aren’t like Tinkerbell . They’re not pretty and definitely not nice . They have sharp, scary wings and if they kiss you … well , you’re dead. “
First of all , you are going to love this book if you are a fan of The Mortal Instruments , Harry Potter , Magisterum and books with magic in general .
The plot was very interesting , the characters have also interesting personalities and I would love if in the next book we find out more about Eliza’s brother that litteraly chaught my attention .The writing is captivating and enjoyable , with simple words so, if you are not a fluent English speaker and you want to learn English fast , I recomand you to read this .
There were things that I liked and loved at this book , but there were also some things I didn’t like . First , the action was moving too fast for me and sometimes I lost interest for some things I didn’t understand , and that made me confused . Next , I think that the author should give more details about this world he created , but I also think that this is part of the mystery that I love . Hope I’ll get more details in the sequel !
In the end , this is one of the books that I’m glad I had the chance to read and to review . I also think that this series should get more attention from readers and it should be more popular . Hope the next book will be longer and better . ( because there is always room for improvement)

Mystical is a page turner. Seriously. If you are into witches, this is a must-read. I was hooked from page one and couldn't stop reading it until I was on the last page, wondering why did I read it so fast and wanting to know more about this world.
Generally, I really love this genre and now I love it even more. Mystical's world was unusual and different, but really interesting and unique, even though I was a bit confused at the beginning of the story because of the new elements in witchcraft. It's action-packed and mindblowing read.
I really loved the character of Elisa Rose because I was able to connect with her. Somehow she reminded me of Clary from The Mortal Instruments series because of that "non-believer at first" thing, and I think fans of TMI would really fancy this book.
The book ends with a cliffhanger and I'm so thrilled to find out what happens in the next one. Next book, please hurry up.

This book was different than most witchy books I've read. The heroine would at times drive me crazy because she reminds me of my daughter when she was a teenager, you know, where they don't ask questions like they should but just live each day as though they are invincible. Can't tell them anything. This made the story seem more real. But the mother shouldn't have been so vague to her daughter either. I just loved the cat, her familiar. He was hilarious. I know that's exactly how a cat would talk if they could. I really liked this book though it kept me wanting to know answers longer than I like. Well, ignore that remark because I'm bad to peek at the last chapter of books and cheat. But I think a lot of great stuff is in store for us in the coming books because this world building is so big and complex. It's gonna be great! I can't wait!

The lack of information our main character is giving though irritating, kept me reading. Plus talking cat is huge plus.

setting is standard urban fantasy world with creatures like mermaids elfs and faries. I'm not completely sold on the world because of lack of information, though kept me reading, made it hard to accept all the crazy stuff that happens. we do need a lot more information, after reflecting on this I realized how little we got.

after a confusing first chapter I wasn't quite sure where the story would go. Eliza knows she's a witch but doesn't have the stereotypical magic power which is a refreshing take on it. About half way through it seems that Eliza posses a rare magic rose that must have crazy power because every creature wants it. There is several sub plots to help move the story but I'm not sure it was necessary.

Her mom gives her nothing, Jared gives her nothing, Mrs. something (forgot her name) gives her nothing, even Donovan who went through it gives her nothing. it just doesn't seem fair. also sometimes she really lacked common sense
Jared I really liked him. we watch Eliza go back and forth about is he good is he bad. at this point I think he's good. interested in seeing where his story goes.
Dawn everyone needs a best friend Dawn just accepts everything thrown at her but she does seem a little reckless trying to help Eliza with the creatures after her.
Erik let's just say I knew he was bad news.
Donovan grew on me he is a real jerk to Eliza but in the end I think you really see him softening up to her because he realizes how little no one's preparing her and how crazy the situations are becoming.
Eliza's mom had strange character development to me she was normal then spiraling out of control. it just seemed to happen so fast.
overall I enjoyed this it really came into is own about half way though and had a nice epic battle in the end I enjoyed even if it made me sad. I am left with a ton of questions and a nice cliffhanger I would continue.
This story is about Eliza who finds out she is a witch in her teens and is now about to start college with out her mother's watchful eye.

Michael Weekly has written a super original take on your average witch story.
The imagery was at times super vivid and lyrical even, that you felt so completely immersed into this world of magic...and then the writing would just become a little stiff and awkward.
Eliza as a character doesn't really undergo any development although i liked her awkwardness and she's a character we can all relate to. But what i really irritated me is that at the very first page of the book, her mother tells her she's a witch. And that's fine because it jumps right into the action. What bothered me is that her mother refused to tell her anything else and Eliza just went along with it. I wanted to shake her and make her go after her mother or something!
Faeries. Elves and Mermaids. These creatures are sometimes presented as beautiful and other times super deadly. The scenes where this creatures were used were my favorite because they were really lively, action packed and tension filled! You never knew if they were gonna jump at Eliza or something.
I really really love the broomsticks! It is seriously the most awesome weapon in the book!
However, there were many things that just seemed to vanish from the plot and left you wondering "where the hell did that part go?" there were so many things that stopped making sense, Eliza would say one thing and the next moment she would say another as if she'd never said the first one, She also acted pretty stupid most of the time, especially when it came to her friend. Her reactions to things wasn't immature just plain dumb as if she didn't rationalize anything in her head.
I think this book has a lot of potential but i also think the publishing was rushed maybe, because some parts would not make sense at all and leave you completely confused. I have to say I really liked this book...
It was allow at first, until you get a sense of what is going on... there is a lot of secrets...
Then by page 150 things started to get very interesting and I couldn't stop reading...
This is a truly interesting and amazing story. To me it felt like a mixture between The Mortal Instruments (City of Bones) and White Hot Kiss...
In a world where fairies, elf and mermaids are evil and out to kill you, you must know how to survive to protect the ones you love... or so you are suppose to be able to protect yourself.
Weekly creates a magical and enchanted world, where Rose (I prefer to call her that way) finds out that she is a witch, but knows nothing about how to be one, or how to survive as a witch... and must learn it all on her own. And things only get more complicated as some male witches becomes involved...
I loved...
Donavon's mysterious characters...
Rose's transformation from a quiet girl to a bad ass witch...
Emily's interesting abilities... she seem to be very cool and I can't wait to learn more about her in the next book...

While she quickly falls for a guy in one of her classes, she is mainly focused on all of the weird stuff that starts to happen around her. Who would have guessed that her mom wasn't crazy when she told Eliza she was a witch? Full of dark creatures called Mystics, Eliza must figure out more about her past, her family, and what her future really holds for her.
The storyline was interesting, but it was hard for me to get into it. There wasn't a lot of character development here so you weren't able to fully understand why Eliza made the choices that she did. She doesn't question her mom at all when she finds out that she is a witch, and while she is frustrated that nobody will tell her anything about the magical world, she just kind of goes along with it in a passive way that makes you want to shake her. There was a lot of potential for a multi-dimensional, well-rounded heroine, but she really just lives minute-to-minute having no idea about what's going on and not really doing anything about it.
Just as a warning, the story does end in a cliffhanger so it'll be interesting to see what happens next.

Mystical is the first book in what seems a promising fantasy series. Our heroine is Eliza Rose, a teen that feels nothing but average in the “social chain”. She has not a magazine worthy physique, idol’s charm and grace or valedictorian’s brain, but there is something special about our dear girl. She is a witch. You read that right, she is a witch. Unlike, Bobbi J. or J.K. Rowling, the Weekly presents us with a magical world unlike any others. There is no magic wand, hocus pocus or flying broomstick, not even a flying vacuum. Nevertheless, we get so see a little bit of Star Wars with the witches’ broomsticks, a cylinder that enlarges itself to turn into a purple sword that kills corrupt magical creatures.
Eliza is special, there is no doubt about it. Nevertheless, the question I asked myself since the beginning of the novel until the end is: Why? She seems to have super senses that no other witch, male or female, appear to have. A lot of people seem to be making her or her stuff their target but…why is she so special? Why is everyone hiding so much info from her and, therefore, from the readers. If you are a fan of familiars, you would love to meet hers. She has her very own Salem. His name is Jared and is such a darling even when he believes his job is to tease her from time to time. He protects her but, in my opinion, is hiding way too much information for her even when the situation gets worse and, it’s obvious, she needs to get out of the dark. There was a point where I was shouting at him to spill the beans if he wanted her to stop being so reckless or to at the very least to make sure she is prepared for everything since she couldn’t probably be stopped.
The mother, Grace, was not such a likable character. I understand she wanted to protect her but keeping her on the dark even when the situation screamed that she shouldn’t was, in my opinion, something very stupid. Giving her a curfew, putting a charm on her door and asking Jared to keep an eye on her is not enough to protect someone that doesn’t even know the face of the real danger. This proves to be right when a corrupt fairy attacks Eliza’s bestie and, later, some mermaid decide to make the rookie witch their prey. There is something fishy going on with her mother, brother and the cute guy that seems to be so into her one second but mysteriously appears on her mother’s house and seems to be talking to her before she disappears.
All of a sudden another problem or maybe solution in disguise enters her life. His name is Donnovan and yes, he screams trouble. I suspect he has his own story to tell but for some reason he gives a vibe that assures you that he has her back. She was told male witches were a force to be reckon with but Donovan saved her a fair amount of times and who is this guy, Christian, that was given the same rose as her, the flower that everyone seems to want for their own?
In a place where everyone seems to have something to hide and a time when almost every magical creature, corrupt or not, wants to either feed on her or take away a very special rose that was given to her. Who can our heroine trust? I highly recommend this novel to anyone interested in a fast paced fantasy novels with a hint of romance and a spoon of drama unlike any other. Nevertheless, I must warn you there is a cliffhanger that would grab you attention.

A lot of work has gone into revisions, with some minor and major changes, but the world building is still fascinating and the characters are still just as intriguing.
If you're looking for an urban fantasy with a creative twist on witches, elves, mermaids, and other creatures, this is a perfect read for you!

I have to say Mystical is a great story- one of the most fascinating premises I've come across in a while. I really enjoyed reading it and quickly found myself eager to discover what happens next and unable to put the down. I loved the characters- they were original, real, and funny. While Mystical is a Fantasy novel, I have to say that there is so much about it that feels so real! The author did an amazing job making things believable. The world-building was one of the best things about Mystical. The plotline was very original and well-formed as well. It was never slow or boring, or predictable. It was action-packed and filled with humor and mystery!
I loved the main character, Eliza Rose. Her personality was real and relatable and I loved seeing her grow throughout the story. Jared, her cat/familiar, was another awesome character. I loved his sense of humor and the dialogue between him and Eliza. Eric and Donovan were very complex characters. I liked Donovan from the start.
Mystical had a great plotline with plenty of well-choreographed action and unpredictable, yet believable twists and turns. The characters we're great and I didn't want the story to end! I would definitely recommend this book! I can't wait for the next one!

OMG Guys this book. I was mind blown. i knew i was when i even hid to continue reading parts that were kind of *ahem* haha. But this book totally got me hooked after the first chapter. With little references to Harry Potter (haha the specs she had) and the totally new concept of mechanical stubs towards magical use that their mystical universe has, it's definitely a recommend to bookworms!
Action packed and awesome, totally recommended to House Of Night, Mortal Instruments and Vampire Academy readers! Have fun reading!! XD

I really enjoyed this book. It's unlike anything I have personally read before. I love the story and this whole world. My only problem with it, it needs more editing. There were just little things throughout that weren't consistent. After I forced myself to stop thinking about that, I was able to just enjoy the story. I will be looking forward to the next in this series.

GOODREADS 2022 READING CHALLENGE: to read atleast the first hundred pages of every book I own but haven’t finished
So far, I’m realizing why there’s so many books I haven’t finished or read out of my collection. This was a slog. It took me weeks to get through the first one hundred pages. This has to have been written by a teen— the pacing is frustrating, and a lot of things just aren’t logical. A lot of references are aged— in ten years, will anyone remember tumblr? Especially the age group this book is clearly targeted at; young teens who don’t understand how college or life after high school works?

Okay. Admittedly, this is not my favorite of books of all time but I will tell you this early that it is not a bad book at all. Although, I must say it has a Mortal Instruments vibe to it. Shadowhunters anyone? For what its worth, I honestly believe that I personally would have enjoyed it better ad I read it when I was younger. Disclaimer: I am not THAT old. But you get what I mean. Of course, I have those things that I really like about this book.

Need I say more? BUT, what actually made me really like it was how witches were so much different from the ugly hags or the wand waving, spell casting humans you normally see in books. They actually are bad-ass people who save people from dying in the hands (or claws, or flippers of whatever) of evil creatures roaming around. And the BROOMSTICK! I would want that broomstick for myself girl! If you want to know what I mean go and get this book! The difference and the general idea of what a witch is was perfectly played out. Honestly it suit the name witch pretty well.
The premise was good
The general premise of this book was great. I mean basically everybody knows about the stories about fairies and mermaids and elves. Weekly gives his own take on these stories we hear over and over again. If any, it is a refreshing, a bit dark yes, re-telling of what these creatures really are.
Fairies, mermaids, elves, and rave parties
The creatures (why does that word sound weird suddenly, anyway) were re-created in such a way that they aren't too far off from what they are originally known for. You can still see hints of the common urban legends. and I think that's what makes them more terrifying. Also, they are set to the mix with the modern day which I really like. No one will look at a beautiful girl the same way when they read this book. The book just captures what the life of a college freshman is.
Eliza was a really nice girl. She wasn't spiteful or depressed. Basically she wasn't the pathetic damsel so we can become friends. Honestly in the end I don't think she gave a damn about other people. She accepted that her mother was weird and that was it. She loved her just the same. And she could fight like a boss. I think Weekly was able to capture what the life of a normal teenager transitioning into young adulthood was like. College, independence, taking chances, boys, heartbreak, friendships. Even with all the crazy stuff, her life was described like any other. Her character was realistic in a way and I loved that.
Are we ready? Here we go.
I didn’t think the flow of words and the richness of the story telling was very consistent. As I was reading there were moments when oh! that was really good and rich and magical and then the next few lines were just womp womp… They weren’t bad, I mean they did the job of saying what was needed, it just wasn’t enough to give the needed punch. You get me?
This is probably one of the most frustrating plots I have read. Just the suspense of what was really happening and why things were happening was just dragged on too long it was unnecessary in my opinion. Basically at the end of the book I didn’t understand half of what or why things were happening. But, it may just be me. Everyone around her just made Liza look stupid and vulnerable all the while claiming they want to protect her. Well tell the girl the damn thing and let her defend herself! Do girls not have any say to things anymore?
One thing that kind of ticked me off a teeny tiny bit was that she needed to look gorgeous to be a hero. I mean come on. Really? And anyone should know better than to let your best friend tag along your adventures with vicious creatures when you very well know she is absolutely in danger and might just hold you up. Hello!?!?!?! She accepts you, I get it so save her the agony and leave her at home!
There wasn’t much character development for any of the characters. I was looking for a little more conflict internally and externally for Liza. But there were great, GREAT moments for her (and her mum *wink*). And those were real gems.
Again, this is a good book, really. So many good elements and a colorful plot. It may just be me. I think it really is just me. It just didn’t grip me real tight. Preference thing. Thinking about it, I believe the next books may be a lot better and I may like them more than this book since I assume things will unfold more clearly as the series goes on. That is IF I will pick them up. If you ask me now, uhmm, I may pass. BUT, if you are a fan of books like Mortal Instruments series then you might enjoy this as well.

I think Weekly was able to capture what the life of a normal teenager transitioning into young adulthood was like. College, independence, taking chances, boys, heartbreak, friendships. Even with all the crazy stuff, her life was described like any other. Her character was realistic in a way and I loved that.
Are we ready? Here we go.
I didn’t think the flow of words and the richness of the story telling was very consistent. As I was reading there were moments when oh! that was really good and rich and magical and then the next few lines were just womp womp… They weren’t bad, I mean they did the job of saying what was needed, it just wasn’t enough to give the needed punch. You get me?
This is probably one of the most frustrating plots I have read. Just the suspense of what was really happening and why things were happening was just dragged on too long it was unnecessary in my opinion. Basically at the end of the book I didn’t understand half of what or why things were happening. But, it may just be me. Everyone around her just made Liza look stupid and vulnerable all the while claiming they want to protect her. Well tell the girl the damn thing and let her defend herself! Do girls not have any say to things anymore?
One thing that kind of ticked me off a teeny tiny bit was that she needed to look gorgeous to be a hero. I mean come on. Really? And anyone should know better than to let your best friend tag along your adventures with vicious creatures when you very well know she is absolutely in danger and might just hold you up. Hello!?!?!?! She accepts you, I get it so save her the agony and leave her at home!
There wasn’t much character development for any of the characters. I was looking for a little more conflict internally and externally for Liza. But there were great, GREAT moments for her (and her mum *wink*). And those were real gems.
Again, this is a good book, really. So many good elements and a colorful plot. It may just be me. I think it really is just me. It just didn’t grip me real tight. Preference thing. Thinking about it, I believe the next books may be a lot better and I may like them more than this book since I assume things will unfold more clearly as the series goes on. That is IF I will pick them up. If you ask me now, uhmm, I may pass. BUT, if you are a fan of books like Mortal Instruments series then you might enjoy this as well.

First of all, THANK YOU SO MUCH MICHAEL WEEKLY. THIS WORLD YOU CREATED IS AWESOME. I DEFINITELY NEED MORE OF IT.
Well, I think it's pretty clear that I totally loved this book and, in addition, I discovered a new author that has a lot say and share with the world.
Mystical is a very impressive first intallment of a urban fantasy trilogy that freaked me out, made me scream, and made me laugh really hard. Even though the first chapters where quite confusing because I didn't know what was going on or what to expect from the plot, which is PERFECT because it kept the mistery until the right moment, the development of the book is full of riddles, confusion and plot twists around every corner: when you think you have something figured out... Keep calm, you don't, lol.
The action starts at a slow pace, but at some point everything comes crashing down and it was impossible for me to stop reading because, omg, I actually COULDN'T leave until I finished the epilogue and, well, I'm really excited (maybe too much for my own good, lol) for the sequel.
Mystical is kind of a mix between TMI and, somehow, Vampire Academy to me because of the super badasses Eliza and Don. I mean, they are cool witches in spite of Don's big mouth and the both of them make a good team. I absolutely enjoyed their strange fights in the middle of the road.
HOWEVER, there's a cliffhanger the size of an ocean. That's not cool at all, Mr Weekly :(
Can't wait for the next one, though!

When I first started reading this book I was getting out of a reading slump so I was like this better be good or I won't be able to read it. Guess what, it was good!
I loved the mystery that surrounds the Mystical world. We don't get to know everything right away and that makes it a whole lot more interesting. The characters are so much fun to read and not annoying at all. Donovan's personality is just amazing, and Eliza's character grows with the story. There are also the characters that I loved but I want to know more about them like Dawn, Emily, Jared, and Miss Canary. These characters bring a lot to the story and I would like to see more about them. There were somethings that stopped me from giving it 5 stars, for example I got confused on a couple of scenes but it wasn't a huge problem for me.
Lastly, Mystical combines pop culture with a fantasy world and that made easier to relate to. There are popular references included in this book that just made me relate to the characters more and I always love when you can see yourself as part of the book.
If you love The Mortal Instruments, fantasy, mystery, witches and do not have a problem with a huge CLIFFHANGER AT THE END then this book is for you and you should read it!

A truly unique and very intriguing read, a witch story with a twist - I really enjoyed this book.
Eliza knows that she's a witch, but she fails to understand how that really can be as she has no powers, her mum has given her a dagger and a metal gadget with a red button which she calls a broomstick. Can Eliza stay safe whilst learning about the mystical powers that surround her?
Eliza lives in a normal world which is now full of Faeries, Mermaids and Elves, all of which are extremely deadly and not at all like the ones she grew up to believe in.
In places I found the storyline a little predictable, however putting this aside I loved this story as a whole and enjoyed this very different angle in a witch story. This is a lovely YA read and is most certainly one of those stories that will stay with you. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Mystical is a mysterious, ingenious book about Eliza a young woman just starting college, whose mother had dumped on her the knowledge she was a witch while in high school, handed her a"broom"( a small device that changed sizes, but as far as she could tell not much else)and told her to never be without it. And Jared her "familiar cat" who also didn't tell her much, saying it would all be apparent in time. As college starts she comes into contact with two young men who she is equally attracted too, but maybe not so good for her well being and state of mind as she's not just supposed to become an Uber witch, she's to become a magical Assassin. Liza wants nothing to do with any of it, but after running into soul sacking death Fairies who leave hickies aND not much else on their victims, Eliza has no choice but to embrace her strengths and work on her weaknesses. 4☆'s for characters, building a realistic world of magical beings and a varied love life for Eliza. Waiting for book 2 !! I recieved a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review from the author.

WARNING: Whilst reading this book, your brain will explode again and again. It's absolutely mind - blowingly phenomenal!
I'm a real bookworm so my shelves are constantly packed. I was sure that I've read practically everything from crazy serial killers to falling in love with bad boys. From then on, I realised that plots were quite predictable.
Well, that was until I read Mystical. And let me tell you, you definitely won't be disappointed. I absolutely loved it. From day one I was hooked into the book and felt like I've known the characters since well...forever. I think this is the first time I'm actually crushing on a fictional character...oops.
The constant plot twists and cliffhangers leave you hanging by a thread.
For all those fantasy lovers out there, Mystical is a truly unique and interesting tale. You'll learn that witches aren't all long - nosed hags with pointed hats riding broomsticks.
Prepare to expect the unexpected.

We get to meet some Shifters, Witches and Faires all mix up together. Eliza has been keep from things all her life and those secrets are going to hurt in the future. Donovan and Christopher enter into Eliza life and they seem to make things more complicated for her. This is a wonderful suspense fill fantasy story that all can enjoy, before warned that there is a cliffhanger in book and can’t wait to see what happens next. Recommend this book

I really enjoyed the first book in Michael Weekly's Mystical series. Michael provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I originally became familiar with his writing on Wattpad. I'm excited to see where he takes this series.
In Mystical, he spins a fantastic tale filled with fantastic creatures. Stuck in the middle of it all, and trying to find her place, is Eliza Rose. This book really is a page turner, as Eliza begins to unravel some of the secrets of her past and what the future will hold. Because when you're a witch, and everyone seems ready to cut your life short, you need to either hold your own, or get swept away.

I am absolutely in love with this book, if you are looking for a new series then this definitely the book for you. Once I started reading this book I could not put it down. This story is just so different from all the stories out there. And that's what makes it such a amazing book, I am a huge fan of supernatural stories, and this story did not disappoint, I can not wait to read the next installment to this series. i love the fresh new spin on the supernatural creatures that the author used, very creative.
