Self-publishing has become *the* phenomenon of the digital age. With direct access to the internet, Amazon and a host of other internet distributors worldwide, writers and journalists self-published over 300,000 titles last year. "Indie-Publishing" bypasses the traditional route of agent and trade publisher, creating a direct market online and through print-on-demand. The challenges are significant though and this excellent new book will help you from the start of the first sentence to the distribution of your book into the global marketplace of readers: editing, formatting, cover design, coping with sales statements and balancing social media activity with time to write.
An excellent reference book with lots of useful detail, including images and examples, to step you through the process of self-publishing a novel. While it's particularly focused on ebooks and clearly designed for UK authors, the general principles are useful for POD publications and authors from everywhere in the world.
This was a useful book whether you intend to self-publish or traditional publish your writing, as it presents advantages and disadvantages of both (although it is indeed biased toward self-publishing). However, it also contains advice that applies to publishing in general (such as what a cover must represent, how to write a book blurb, how to promote your book as an author etc.). There is probably nothing in here that cannot be found on the internet after days and days of browsing articles on self-publishing, however everything is laid out coherently and in one place, so I would definitely recommend this volume to ease your work.
When I started this book, I knew absolutely nothing about self-publishing, didn't know the jargon, and was completely lost about the websites, programs, and formats. Now I feel I know enough to get started. It was very informative and had everything laid out in a way that made the information easily assimilated.
A how to book on how to Self-Publish your novel. I found it informative; interesting and well laid out. Recommended for anyone intending to Self-Publish.
