Tam bir ustalık eseri. Oktay Hoca bir tarihçi nasıl yazmalı sorusunun cevabını vermiş. Ortada bir teori var ve tarihçi bu teoriyi spesifik bir bölgeyi inceleyerek, eldeki birincil kaynaklarla destekleyerek tezini kanıtlıyor. Bunu da asla lafı dolandırmadan yapıyor. Oktay hoca sorunun ne olduğunu ve bu sorunun neden olmuş olabileceğini net bir şekilde belirlemiş ve bu soruları da nihaî olmasa da cevaplamış. Kitabın şimdiden klasik çağ dönemi için klasikler arasına girdiğini düşünüyorum.
