Nothing quite like taste of death to make the heart grow fonder...
Urenya has been conditioned to be the best version of herself. As a healer, she is held in high regard. As the closest friend of one of the most fearsome generals in the Brion armies, she has a delicate role to play. Not only must she be wise and with hands that can heal any harm, but she must also act as a moral compass when the bloodlust of great men around her drive them wild.
But where does that leave her desires? And what if she needs her own damn warrior to fight and bleed for her, instead of standing up for herself on her own all the time?
Narath knows one thing - any problem can be solved with a spear. And not just a spear, but a spear in his very capable hands. Battle has always been in his blood and he could have never imagined that it would not be enough... Until laying his eyes on the sexy, curvy healer of the Triumphant. After that, he wants nothing more to use a very different spear, but with the same intent - to solve a problem.
Will Narath and Urenya realize what fate has in store for them at the right time, or will war tear them apart before they can ever really taste happiness?
Alien Warrior's Wife is a standalone novella with a happy ever after ending and no cliffhanger. There's plenty of steam in this book and unless you love mindblowingly hot sex, you might want to keep away... Or at least brace yourself for a hell of a ride!
Vi's a small-town girl with big city dreams. Born and raised in Texas, she's always had her eyes to the stars. Telling stories is her passion and when she can mix a whole lot of steam with equal parts sexy alien hunks, well, things just get that much better, right?
An ardent Rangers fan, she believes all men should come in a yummy beefcake package and that's exactly the kind of heroes she prefers. A curvy woman herself, Vi likes to write heroines as sassy as she is.
She likes indulging in a little wine and a little chocolate, but her first love int life is writing and everything else follows second.
This is a fun entry into the Science Fiction Romance World. I especially like that along with the matching with women from earth there are romance between the Brions as well.
The hero is just grand. The heroine is wonderful grows through out the book.
This is a very sweet and touching love story with good world building.
"This is an Awesome Series!" The story line is so intense!. The characters are amazing!. This series is of the race called the Brions. They are a a warrior race. In this book we read about Urenya who is training to be a Healer. For where you have battles you also need healers. Before training Urenya's finds her soul mate which is called a Gerion only to loose him in battle before they can even get to know each other. So she goes to stay with her best friend Diego who is training to be a warrior. Urenya knows Diego will be a great commander some day. After her training Urenya gets assigned to Diego's Fighter ship as he has become the commander of the Triumphant. Before she was assigned there she had met Diego's best friend Narath. Urenya has never felt the way she feels towards Narath could it be she will be given another Gerion, and another chance at happiness?. You will love this intense, funny, suspenseful and scorching hot Romance! It is a 5-star must read book!
3.5 Stars. This is an entertaining sci-fi romance book. I like the world that the author is starting to develop and the Brion people and their ways. I think this book was actually better than the first book and I'm really looking forward to reading the first full length book in this world. The characters are as well developed as can be expected in under 100 pages and the plot is interesting and fairly complex considering the length of the book. I don't read a lot of Sci-Fi but I'm a fan of this series so far and look forward to more.
This one was fairly short as well.. Again, it felt like a prequel but the feels! Gah! It tugged the heart and it was a sweet story between Narath and Urenya. I like that Urenya is a gentle healer but still strong in the Brion way. And Narath, while is huge in build is like a gentle giant. Very sweet story.. =]]
Good for a short. Better than the first book in the series. Have to question whether if fate takes away a fated before anything could happen- because fate, were they really ever fated. I swear that makes sense in my head.
Wow so much happening in a short book. I loved it though, I am especially interesting in the world building in this book. Alien books always keep things interesting.
Character breakdown;
Urenya; always easier to push everything aside than to face the pain of reality. But doing so only brings more pain at the wrong time like she found out in the book. But I loved her determination to try and keep going, that she found her happiness was a bonus.
Narath; how did her fear become his? The sympathy in this bad assed warrior was surprising but oh how I enjoyed it. And the man was describe as a huge (literally) hunk.
For a short story it was surprisingly full and inviting. I am definitely getting the rest of the books.
This is really a 3.5 for me, and is a momentum building book leading to the real awesome books in the seriess. Narath and Urenya for me are more representative of what the Brion Bride series feels like in general and they are a further momentum builder to what I felt were really great books. The prequels are good, they are, but they don’t have the same character and world building the full novels do, obviously. I do recommend people read them though because 1st, they’re good, 2nd you really do need to know how the world works and these prequels show you how it is supposed to work. Besides, you respect and know these characters later, I know I do.
I loved Vi Voxley's style of writing so nothing was unexpecting for me to like this book. There was also nothing exciting though. I just liked it. I think what I liked the most was the whole concept of Brion Race. I really love the whole biological description of it. They seem to be an ideal warrior race. They fight hard and love hard. I liked it.
I wanted to like this book, but...well it was a bit boring. The story was a bit cookie cutter and there was little character depth. I felt like there was no challenge to the characters. Overall not as good I was hoping. Still I have a few other books already by this author that I will get a chance to and hope the writing is better in them.
I really enjoyed Narath's and Urenya's love story. I love hearing when they find their fated. It makes you want to find your own Brain warrior or General.
This is my second book to read by Vi Voxley. I must say that yet again I wasn’t disappointed. She is a very good author and one that I will continue to follow. “Alien Warrior’s Wife is a well thought out and well planned book. She grabs your attention at the beginning of the book and keeps your attention till the end of the book. The story line and the characters all work well together even the minor characters play an important part in the story line. You have a warrior hero, a heroine that has lost her mate, a best friend who is a fearless general in the Brion army, war, and fated mates. What more could you ask for in a book? Oh yea, I almost forgot the mind-blowing sex!!! You do not want to miss this book.
"NOTHING QUITE LIKE THE TASTE OF DEATH TO MAKE THE HEART GROW FONDER....(Direct quote from synopsis)
Urenya is a healer who has just lot her mate to war. Everyone was sympathetic to her loss. They were known to be the most caring and nurturing species. The worst part of this is she is tired of everybody telling her that it will be okay. So, she runs to the one place she knows she can be herself, and that is her friend Diego who is a great general in the armies. He knew her well enough to help her through her time of grief. She had to be wise with her hands that could heal any harm. She must also keep her morals so she can withstand the bloodlust that can drive men wild.
Narath is a warrior who believes that everything can be solved with his spear. Fighting was in his blood and he always thought that was enough especially with his spear in his hands. Well that was until he met Urenya, the sexy healer of the Triumphant. Now that he has met Urenya he wants to use his other spear (wink, wink). Will Narath and Urenya get their chance at love? Or will war get in the way of their love and tear them apart?
No Spoilers. Advanced Reader Copy read voluntarily.
Why is that when you find a series where the first book is really great and the next thing you know your attacking the whole series. This was my epiphany when I started this book. And as I usually have more than one book going at once it is no wonder I am so behind in my writing but I am catching up.
Alien Warrior's Wife takes place primarily on the ship so them leaving the ship turned out to be my favorite part. The good news is I really like the characters but it seemed like Vi Voxley spent more time fleshing out Urenya than she did Narath so as you read this book you will get to know Urenya a lot more than you will Narath. Then of course there was the very hot sex that happens once and the masturbation in the shower was pretty steamy.
The storyline had lots of potential but given that this book was so focused on Urenya and Narath that the world that the author is creating with her series seems pretty two dimensional unlike the three-dimensional series that Lauranne Dohner writes, in her New Species books not every scene has the main characters that are being focused on adding to dimension to the series.
Can you imagine that right after you meet your fated one, the one destined for you, they are killed? That is exactly what happens to Urenya. She doesn't know what to do or how to grieve, so she runs to her best friend Diego, an up and coming warrior. While there she has the opportunity to use her healing skills on a young warrior named Narath. She then leaves for her healing training, where she learns unexpected truths about her people and she excels, except her mentor questions her ability to manage her own emotions as she keeps running away. Urenya finally takes the time to grieve and move on. She is then stationed on now Commander Diego's ship, where she encounters Narath again. Sparks fly, until Narath is severely wounded in battles and right before falling unconscious reveals they are fated tone together . Will fate be so cruel to take her second fated mate? This is a great story about finding happiness even after tragedy. It is readable in one sitting and is very enjoyable. I like this series and learning the ways of the Brion warrior and people. It has some really hot scenes as well.
I was given a copy of this book without any expectation and am voluntarily reviewing .This was a very enjoyable read .The story-line flowed well and the imagery that the author created was vivid and intriguing .I loved the man characters Urenya and Narath and I found them to be very relate-able .Uryeya is a healer who puts her all into her work and Nareth is a warrior who trains to be the best he can be. While stationed on ship together they meet and immediately desire one another .When Nareth is injured these to will realize just how much they mean to one another .This was a wonderful journey as these two discovered themselves and each other .I would definitely recommend this book to other readers out there .
Love Strikes Twice! Losing your Fated Mate you really never knew; but just for a brief few hours. This is the story of Urenya and the internal battle she has within her head. As a Brion she should not be having this dilemma. Brion’s are a strong stoic race of aliens. Emotions are not suited; they are not ignored but the militaristic way runs this race of people. As a teen she was confused and really did not know how to handle this loss. Her dear friend Diego and Narath were always there. Eventually they all went to their career paths; Urenya became a Healer. After many years and now a mature woman she is assigned to a battleship with her dear friend Diego, now a Commander and Narath a strong and very large warrior. Narath knows immediately that she is his Gesha. How can this be? Is it possible for love again to strike twice for Urenya? I like the story-line. It is at time a bit of a slow read and some melancholy. Overall it is a well thought out story.
Urenya is a Brion girl who lost her mate or gerion as they call them at a young age. She had only known him for for one day and then he was gone before she even had a chance to bond to him. Her best friend was Diego so she went to him to have someone to talk to. One of his friends (Narath) got hurt so she helped him. she was a healer after all. Years later Diego has his own ship and sends for Urenya to be his ships healer. It's were she meet Narath for the second time and this meeting goes a little different lol. This story was fantastic. Lots of back story on the characters and well developed. Lots of action and drama, terrific storyline. It's different from the other Brion stories I have read because it's between two Brions and not the Brion and human. Parts were sad and parts are action-packed. If your a syfy fan you should love it. Voluntary reviewed and I honestly loved it
I am loving this book more, it is such a vast improvement from the first book in the series.
This is about Urenya who met her fated mate for a brief few hours when she was young, only to have him met a tragic end in a battle. It is the story of her internal struggle and her final acceptance to mourn her young mate. Fate gave her a second chance, Narath a fearless warrior and good friend of Commander Diego.
Of course it is not all peaches and roses, there some struggles before both Urenya and Narath finally received their HEA. Ms Voxley's writing is smoother and the storyline easier to read in this 2nd book of this series. This is fast becoming one of my favourite Romantic Sci-Fi series. I am most anxious to read the 3rd book, I hope it is about Commander Diego.
Although this is an author's copy, my thoughts are my own.
I had a review but my kids deleted it so I apologize in advance for a crappy review.
Okay I could cookie cutter the story and give you vague details and plot but to be perfectly honest I'm too lazy for that right now. So lets just jump into it shall we. The main character loses the man that was supposed to be her soul mate in battle. She is lucky to get a second chance at love/soulmate/ geron bond stuff.
Mostly I was super bored with the main character, story and plot. The only character I wanted to know better was Narath and then is was over. So what I'm getting at is this might not be for everyone. It wasn't my cup of tea, but don't let that stop you from this quick read. It could be a hit or a miss with you. Sadly it was a miss for me.
I was asked by the author for a review. *posted on Amazon too
This is my second story by Vi Voxley involving the Brion people. Warriors from a different world. In this story, we first meet Urenya, a healer and someone who lost her life mate (gerion) before they had a chance to get to know each other. Thinking that was it for herself, she devoted herself to her work on a ship captained by an old friend and the best warrior out there. Narath, a warrior second only to Diego, is charged for seeing to her safety. As they get to know each other, sparks begin to fly and well…you’ll need to read the book for yourself to see how it continues. What I will say is that the story is well done, the characters are entertaining, and the growing tension and eventual consummation is definitely worth the read.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very interesting and quick read that I enjoyed. I really liked seeing Urenya and Narath become close and seeing their relationship develop. The book was very well written, and I always look forward to seeing more from this author.
The only reason for the three stars, instead of the four I otherwise would have rated it, is because of the sadness of Urenya losing her first fated mate. Even though she hadn't really known him, I still found that to be really sad and put a taint on the book I didn't care for. But that's just a personal preference, and if that kind of thing doesn't bother you, than I'm sure you'll enjoy the book.
Having read book 3 first, it was nice to go back and get the quiet healer's love story. In such a short piece there wasn't time for a lot of character development but her backstory was was done. I had less a sense of Narath; he seemed a stock Brion character to act as the hero. It was nice to see Diego interacting with his friends, acting outside his role as the fierce Commander. One niggling thing that bothered me is the way they ran off to have sex/binding when he'd just brought a shipment of wounded warriors to the ship for healing--I guess she must have had particularly gifted assistants or other healers on the ship? This was an enjoyable read but the true must reads are the longer works in the series.
4.5 rating round up What if the fates dealt you a bad hand? Can the expectations of others help or will they hinder you? For one person she will be the best for all their sake but will her temper get the better of her? Hardening up and going forward is the only way, or is it? Can second chances really happen even when she no longer wants to fight it? Love this series with a race that has one rule....you have to say 'no' at first. A battle from the inside on both parties till the categorical bonding happens. I smile thinking about it. Really enjoyed the book and the perfect destiny is reach.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. We are back to the “new” world created by Ms. Voxley this time about a healer and a warrior. Urenya and Narath have a different journey to their HEA. Urenya is a healer (to-be at the beginning of the story) and Narath is a warrior. Urenya has just lost her “intended” (the basis of the series so I won’t explain) and is just beginning to come into her own as a healer. We meet Narath as he is just beginning his service as a warrior. This story doesn’t have a lot of depth to it but it is a good read. It’s quick and fast and I read it in one sitting.
I was given this book in exchange for my honest opinion and a review.
Vi Voxley books keep getting better and better you can see the progression in her writing especially in this book.
This is the second book in this heart stopping new series it is packed o so full of tension that it has you gripping your seat so hard wondering and waiting to see what happens next! This book is fast paced and full of edginess and has just the write amount of adventure, hot intimacy and emotional drama to let us the readers observe and live and go through what they do.
I loved the chemistry between the characters it is spot on.
