When Devon Bradford entered Nina Petrov's life, she was broken and alone. He did everything in his power to tear down her defenses, refusing to let her push him away. In the end, it just wasn't enough. Nina had backed him into a corner, and he ended up doing the very thing he promised Nina he would never do- leave her, just as all the other men had done to her before. By the time Nina's secrets had finally come to light, Devon had already vanished- she left him with no other choice. In the end, she was forced to make the decision between letting the memory of him consume her, or vanquishing him from her mind forever.
Devon had abandoned Nina in her darkest hour, in what seemed like a lifetime ago. It had shredded her heart, and left her questioning her sanity. The day he'd left her, she'd buried a part of herself, but the memories of him continued to haunt her, leaving her feeling unsure about everything she thought she once knew.
It has been eighteen months since Devon Bradford disappeared from Nina's life, but she's worked hard to dispel the demons that once plagued her. One day at a time, she becomes one step closer to leaving her past behind and moving forward. That is, until one fateful day, Devon is hurled back into Nina's life, and her reality will be forever changed.
As Nina finds herself chained once more to the ghosts of her past, she realizes Devon holds the key to her future. Can Nina really trust Devon this time, or will he leave her to pick up the shattered pieces of her life once more?

*****FIVE SWOONING STARS***** If you've ever read any of Kiara Delaney's books, you KNOW you NEVER KNOW! Haunted is the sequel to Ghostwriter, and DOES NOT disappoint in this area. Ghostwriter is one of Kiara's most acclaimed books, citing a blindsiding ending that left fans begging for book two. Haunted is NOTHING you'd expect and EVERYTHING you'll wish you'd seen coming. Nina Petrov has a whole new world for the readers to explore and her story is intriguing, unique, and gives depth and insight into her story from book one. DEVON IS BACK! (or is he?) Yes, and unlike anything you would imagine. Book two in the series leaves no doubts to the complexity of Nina, which ends up making her that much more enjoyable to read. This is a truly romantic, suspenseful, and sexy as hell story peppered with angst, emotional roller coasters, humor, and more! A must read!
Kiara Delaney is a new to me author this year. Thanks to wonderful book friends who recommended these books to me. Book 1 and 2 of the Fallen from Grace series follow the story of Nina Petrov and her life to date. Ghostwriter ends on a cliff hanger, so I recommend getting both books and easing your cliffie pain quickly.
The genre is erotic thriller/romantic suspense. I typically do not do well here because of my own wimpy issues. Man! I may have to change my stand on that! Ghostwriter had me hanging to the very edge with a whole lot of what-the-f**kery going on!
Book 2 picks up 18 months after the end of book 1 as Nina’s story continues. The reader picks up pretty quickly in book one that Nina has some mental health issues. Her moods are all over the place and random comments indicate she has some trust issues. Everyone has let her down in her life. What I appreciate most about Nina is her resilience despite all that has happened to her. She has an underlying fighting spirit that lets me believe she is ultimately going to be ok.
This is a series that can’t be reviewed entirely without giving away much of the story. These are books that need to be read to be experienced. What I can tell you is that the writing is impeccable. The author writes form some experience about mental health. Characters are believable and well thought out. The story unfolds in dual POV for the most part. There is a hero-ish character along with some very steamy scenes both with Nina and in his fantasy of Nina.
My only reason for giving 4.5 stars to Haunted is I am not yet settled in my head about the ending. Maybe I need to digest some more. I definitely did not see it coming. I just am not sure I am ok with the conclusion. Happy to change my mind as time passes!
Please read all the way to the end of Haunted and learn the author’s own story. Persons with mental health issues are so marginalized in our society. It warms my heart to be able to read a story of success through many trials and setbacks. If anything, I hope you take pause and consider that not every person, not every love story, not every HEA comes about as fairytale perfection. Consider a different reality from your own. Above all, be kind.
Well from my review of book 1 I had lots and lots of questions and as Nina's story continues and progresses. I will say I have answers! I don't ever want to be the one to spoil a book for anyone so please excuse my vagueness..but I am still processing .. I feel like I need a re-load. I love a book with unexpected twists and turns and that was delivered, and while I thoroughly enjoyed and found it captivating, I think a portion of that I thanks to Dr. Hotkins (aka Dr. Perkins) and Nina's personality and being able to relate. Mind benders are a favorite for me and if you enjoyed book 1 I have no doubt you won't love book 2.
Amazing!!!! I loved ghostwriter the first book in this series and didn't think kiara Delaney could top it with Haunted but omg I was so wrong!!! This book had me from page one and I couldn't put it down. So yes I read it In one sitting. I love a story where you think you know where it's headed only to find out the author has woven such a great tale that you end up somewhere completely different. This is a great love story with a beautiful message about mental health and everyone's need for love and acceptance.. This is a must read!!!
If you thought the second book in the series couldn't leave you anymore speechless than the ending of the first, you thought wrong. After the end of Ghostwriter, we were left wanting more, and Kiara delivers with Haunted. It is surprising, suspenseful, storytelling at its best. It will keep you on your toes and at the edge of your seat. I loved every minute of it and I can't wait to see what Kiara writes next.
Absolutely wonderful.I was gifted a copy of this book by the author and I have to say I am beyond happy. A suspenseful and highly addictive series. I love her characters as well as are writing style. You are drawn into the storyline and left speechless a few times. This is a terrific book and I highly recommend it.
Being that this is the book after Ghostwriter I was worried it disappoint like many sequels, but this one was far from it. I enjoyed this one as much if not more than the first one. If you are looking for a read that will leave you wanting more from an author this one is just that. I recommend you read it especially if you have read Ghostwriter!
Nina is currently in a Hope, Heart and Home Rehabilitation Facility. She is nearly the end of her year and a half treatment and will be joining society very soon. Her 2 doctors that she has had for a very long time are leaving to move on with there careers she has become very fond of her doctors but seems to be going through the motions, she isn’t looking forward to a new doctor for the rest of her stay.
Lucky she has Terrence her favorite nurse by her side, Terrence has always been real with her and she loves him not in a romantic way as a friend way and even if she did it wouldn’t matter as Terrence is gay, but he knows her, he gets her.
Nina is scheduled to meet her new doctor but when she sees him her heart stops beating.
He looks like him.
He has the same name.
Nina thinks the new doc is playing a very cruel joke on her or that her previous doctors are testing her to see if she relapses but she hold her shit together once she works it out.
She falls for him.
He falls for her.
She wants him.
He wants her.
Nina is ready to leave the Rehabilitation Facility she is all set she has new doctors and a new apartment ready for her thanks to Devon.
She cant wait to begin her New life with him.
Until he checks her meds.
She has tricked him.
She played him foe the one thing she wanted.
He confronts her.
Nina does what she does best and makes him leave and never to return. Or does he?
As we were reading some parts of the book confused us but as we kept going everything fell into place.
This book took us on a journey of mental illness which is so real and common in our day and age so for those he don’t know a lot about it this will give you a great inside to what it feels like or how this illness works and can affect families and peoples lives.
Thank you Kiara for another amazing book and thank you for getting personal at the end with a glimpse of your own story!
If this book is "unedited", Ms. Delaney, save yourself the trouble. This book is amazing, and if you liked Ghostwriter (book one in the series), which I'm sure left you as speechless as I was, you are going to S#it a brick while reading this one. Kiara wastes no time in twisting the plot, and it only gets deeper the further you read. Per Kiara , a great soul who needs strangled at the moment ;) , the ending of the book has been omitted from the ARC- which tells me one thing: she's got an Ace up her sleeve, and no doubt it will leave my head spinning, as did the last book.
Kiara has made it nearly impossible to leave a review revealing ANYTHING about the story line, other than it is spot on, as this book will suck you in from page one. So, sorry folks, no details or spoilers here.
Get your copy pre-ordered today and PUT THIS ON YOUR TBR LIST! One of the best series I've read, and I can't wait to read the ending. Release day cannot get here fast enough!!!
Kiara, you're killing me here!
A+ 5 AWAITING STARS, 4 MORE KIARA DELANEY BOOKS I PLAN TO READ, 3 GUYS I CAN'T RESIST, 2 MORE CHAPTERS I'M BEGGING TO READ, AND A ONE-CLICK CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR ME!!!
Goes down as another off my 2018 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book with a blue cover. Love the design of it too! Well she’s done it again, makes you think the story is going one way then completely flips it on its head. Queen of WTF moments indeed, even if you think you know something might be coming you will be surprised when it does.
So Devon is back, or is he? Is Nina dreaming or living, you can never be completely sure. Which is great as it helps draw you into the story more and hold you on tender hooks until the end. You should read Ghostwriter first though to give you a little clue into Nina’s state of mind and what she has been through before this point.
So it’s been eighteen months since Nina’s last mental break and she is now in the last stages of her treatment at Hope, Heart and Home Rehabilitation before being released back into the real world. Her doctors – Dr. Simmons and Dr. Andrews – have been relocated so her remaining care will be in hands of someone new. Not good for someone with abandonment issues and more of a shock when she meets her new doctor, one very hot looking Dr. Perkins. The shock comes due to fact he just so happens to look an awful lot like her Devon. But is this Devon from her past, made up in her mind or maybe a bit of both? Either way things are going to get interesting with the lighting bolt spark that hits both of them when they lock eyes for the first time. The fact she runs out of the room as fast as she can does throw a spanner in the works to begin with and confuses him to no end.
Dr. Devon Perkins has been transferred to work at Hope, Heart and Home Rehabilitation and feels like he has been thrown in the deep end a little. After a disaster of a first meeting with his first patient, his next not turning up and then being thrown in to do group at the last minute he doesn’t think the day could get harder. He can’t seem to get his mind off his first patient Nina though and knows he needs to see her again, maybe not just on a medical level. There is something about her that draws him in. Good job then that she happens to be the first person to come into group. Not so good that she soon passes out after facing him again. The need to protect her is strong and he is going to do whatever it takes to help her. Namely by being called back into work after she has a fit and says she will only calm down if he comes. He’s there to protect her from the start but she can’t trust that he always will be. It’s her weakness. Push before they leave so you can say ‘I told you so’ when they finally do after saying they wouldn’t. This does seem to connect them a little but her fits/panic attacks are something she deals with a lot. They may have started a connection but the moment the good doctor tells her his actual name things get a bit tense. She thinks it’s a trick or just cruel that he would say his name is Devon but he really hasn’t read her file that thoroughly so doesn’t know everything. Even when he does though it’s still just the tip of the iceberg with what’s going on inside her head.
Chemistry and passion galore no matter what Devon is in her mind and the pull towards each other is always going to be there no matter where they are. He knows the trouble he could get in with being involved with a patient but he can’t seem to deny her anything. All he wants is trust from her but that might be something she can’t really give. You know their romance is going to have bumps along the way. The fault of these lying in both their hands, not just his as she’d like to believe. Can he get past her barriers to what he wants and needs? She has become his addiction, one he doesn’t want to give up. Let’s see if he can keep her or if she will run.
Loved her friend Terrance, a right laugh who seemed to be someone who really clicked with her, making her laugh just when she needed it. Dr. Malway though was a douche that needed to stay out of their business.
Mental illness is hidden from most so this is a good way to talk about a subject that affects more people than you would think. What’s up and what’s down, well with this book it sure flips things on its head so just hold on for a hot, fun filled, eye opening ride. A dream, in a dream, in a dream. Or is it?
