My name is Aria and I'm just a normal girl. I go to college and work as a bank teller. My only problem is that my mother has racked up sixty thousand dollars worth of medical bills. She doesn't have a job so any extra money I make goes to her bills. When my boss, Zayden, gives me a proposition that if I agree to be his girlfriend for six months then he'll give me the money for my mom's bills I can't turn him down. The only problem is that he wants me to be more than just his girlfriend. Will I be able to stop his seduction?
I had heard good things about this series so I thought I'd give it a try, and I was not disappointed. This book was great! I loved the witty banter between Aria and Zayden. They were absolutely hilarious! The chemistry was amazing between the two of them and I love that she's challenging him. This book was so much better than anything I had expected. I will be reading the next in the series immediately.
I have to say I broke my own 'rule' by reading this book since I try to avoid all the short free books which lead you into buying the series, plus it didn't mention in the blurb that it was a cliffhanger, another pet hate of mine. So this is a cliffhanger book, this series is in 5 parts the second of which is out now priced at 77p for 78 pages, all the information is given at the end of the book which is great but it would have been nice to have it before I started reading. Why did I break my rule, well I loved the cover and the blurb, the reviews for this and the next book are 5 star and basically I just couldn't resist. Aria is the kind of girl you expect in these books, she's cute rather than model gorgeous, she's intelligent, hardworking, kind, honest, poor and struggling she's working at South National Bank while still at college, her mother's just had heart surgery without insurance so they have sixty thousand dollars of medical bills to pay. Her boss Zayden is only thirty-two and he's used to getting what he wants, in everything including women they just don't say no to him, well that is until Aria. I have to say I really enjoyed this book, although I wasn't sure about Zayden at first but he grew on me, it also had the dual POV's which I love. So in this case I'm glad I broke my 'rule' now onto book 2.
Wow! Fighting Seduction tells the tale of a young woman's struggles to finish her education yet still help with family financial obligations. Aria is so bright and when her boss, Zayden, actively seeks out a plan for her seduction it becomes a battle of wills. Claire Adams did an amazing job with book 1. I can't wait to read more!
This is a very short read, I didn't even know how short as I saw it on one of those free kindle book emails I get everyday. It sounded pretty good, I've been reading lots of romance lately. But that cliff hanger had me nearly throwing my kindle into the wall in rage. I don't mind cliff hangers, I'm not that bitchy but this one.... no! You don't just end after THAT. I've come to see that these kind of books are the ones where the beginning is aways free and then the rest of the series is all paid but I'm not going to pay $.99 cents just for more cliff hangers.
I did enjoy what story I did get, I just kept hoping they'd get together. There are feminist talking points, so if that's something you like or hate, now you know either way. There is also a few minor errors that me rereading like two sentences to figure out what just happened. But it's free and where I used to read fan-faction back in the day, it's not much and shouldn't really be a problem for the reader.
Overall, I will not be continuing with this series. It just wasn't for me.
DUMB. DUMB. DUMB. SO DUMB IT HURTS. JUST SHUT UP. YOU'RE STUPID. NO MORE PLEASE! YOU DUMB B****
I don't expect books to be researched in detail or be completely factually correct but within the realms of reality would be nice. So we have this 32 year old CEO of a provisional retail bank (it's no JP Morgan that's for sure) who works within one of the branches of the banks??(highly dubious). But not only does this CEOhave PLENTY of time to interview low-level staff, including tellers (cashiers) but also listens in on their conversation to avoid money laundering (surely there's a Compliance department for that. A CEO will be busy with outlook forecasts and so forth). Furthermore, other than the CEO there doesn't seem to be any other members of the board of directors who take care of the bank - no CFO (Chief Financial Officer), no COO (Chief Operating Officer) etc.
And there clearly isn't any HR or Legal department because what occurs constitutes as illegal. Not only the proposition but sacking girls, having sex with potential job candidates etc.
I'm surprised the company hadn't been sued in huge class action lawsuits until it's declared insolvent.
Now the writing style - it's appalling.
We begin the story with the heroine being asked out by a customer and the heroine pretending her boss is her fiancé (in order to brush off the would-be suitor). The boss has been eavesdropping (because this busy CEO has a SURPIRINGLY HUGE AMOUNT of time to eavesdrop on low-level staff conversations' as the bank clearly runs itself). The boss then propositions the heroine and she rejects him. He's turned on by her constant rejections - sees it as a challenge. And hence he makes it his mission to seduce her as he likes a challenge. Heard that story before? Yep happens in all the books and in real life. And it never ends in a HEA.
Unpalatable themes in this book: sexual harassment, solicitation, thoughtless plot.
I guess let's start with how completely implausible the foundation of this book is.
You have a girl who is working as a bank teller and putting herself through college. All right, I'll buy it.
You have a young CEO of a regional bank (who inherited his position) who works in one of the local branch offices ...in full view of the teller's cubes...? Who has time (in between, you know, running the bank) to listen in to the electronic recordings at the teller's desks...? I'm sorry, no. I'm not buying that story at all. "Multi-squillionaires" will not work at your local branch, let alone have an office out in the lobby by the teller's cubes. It's just completely implausible, but let's assume you can get past that hiccup.
The next story the author wants you to buy is that this young CEO makes a regular habit of propositioning not only existing employees but also potential job candidates. Naturally, after this job candidates don't get the job and the existing employees are basically fired--oh but wait! He got them a better job! He gave them a glowing recommendation! Surely that makes up for the sex and the loss of a job and the manipulation and the SEXUAL HARRASSMENT? Wrong. You want me to buy that there's a string of attractive female tellers who were routinely propositioned by their boss and then funneled off to another job immediately after and NO ONE filed suit? That's called sexual harassment, folks, and I do not buy that this "CEO" hasn't been litigated until his bank accounts echoed from being emptied and the bank was wrested from his clearly-inept-leadership.
That alone should make you run from this book, but if for some reason you need more evidence, here's the last thing I'll offer: the protagonist's great aspiration in life is to be a loan officer so she give her mother the life she always wanted. While being a loan officer is certainly a good position, as grand aspirations go, it's actually fairly low hanging fruit. I googled and found out that the average salary for a loan officer is just $61k. That is respectable but not lucrative.
Still need more? The young CEO all but engages in the solicitation of prostitution by offering his teller "full compensation" for the time she spends with him -- which he plainly says should include a trip to his bedroom. Are you kidding me?
This isn't sexy. Save yourself the trouble and find a better book.
*Note: I did not actually finish this book, but with a start like this, 29% is all I need to read to know I can't stomach another sentence.
As if Aria’s life wasn’t bad enough with her dad deserting her and her mother, leaving both women to pick up extra jobs to survive; Aria is now worrying about handling her mother’s $60,000 hospital bills. Aria is only a junior in college and works as a bank teller. She has no idea where she is going to come up with that kind of money.
Enter Zayden Sinclair, Aria’s hot and he knows it boss who has just the thing that will ease all Aria’s problems. Too bad Aria isn’t interested. Well she is, but she won’t let Zayden know it. No matter how much she fantasizes about him at home, Aria does a good job at hiding her feelings while at work.
Aria intrigues Zayden because he isn’t used to being turned down. Women are usually banning down his door and jumping at the chance to sleep with him. Aria, not so much. It isn’t until Zayden learns of Aria’s financial woes that he has an idea; a contract of sorts. Aria dates him, sex is optional, and he will make monthly payments on her mother’s hospital bills.
Can Aria do it? Can she handle spending time this man and not want to jump his bones? It would be hard, but she was damn sure going to try.
I enjoyed the characters in this story. Zayden was super cocky and I have to say I love that Aria put him in his place. Even though she may not have wanted to. This story had a nice flow and I couldn’t wait for the heat to turn up! It was a short read but sometimes I like a quick read to get my fix. I am totally looking forward to the next installments in this series.
I loved this book couldn't put it down. Aria goes to college and she also works at the Southern National Bank. One morning a customer nervously asked her out and to put him down easy she told him a lie that she was engaged to the CEO of the bank Zayden Sinclair, but when she said his name Aria noticed when she looked at his office that Zayden smiled. Aria found Zayden really attractive but she seen him take out other tellers then they would get transfered to other banks. Aria's mom was really sick and couldn't pay her hospital bills so Aria started working to pay them off, but when she tried to get a loan she was denied. When Zayden saw that Aria was upset she told him that she was denied the loan. Zayden liked Aria and would ask her out, but Aria always turn him down so now Zayden thought of a perfect plan. Zayden made a contract which said that Aria would go out with him with no strings attached and he would pay her mother's bills for the next six months. Aria with no other choice agreed, but she told him that she would not sleep with him and that he couldn't go out with anyone else. Zayden reluctantly agreed not to go out with anyone else, but when Zayden took Aria to a gala she was insulted by Kirk someone that Zayden knew, and to thank him for paying her mom's first bill payment and defending her from Kirk she gave him what he always wanted.
Aria is a bank teller in a bind. Her mother's medical bills have left them $60k in debt and no way to pay. In comes Zayden, her Very sexy boss, with a solution. Pretend to be his girlfriend for six months and he would pay the bills. The catch: he wants the opportunity to try and get her to sleep with him.
Now, I was a little wary at first because the book is around 100 pages and I usually find that it's not enough to tell a good story but those pages are loaded with greatness. Before I knew it, I was done and begging for more. I loved that Aria (love that name) was intelligent, going to school and working while trying to take care of her mom. She was determined not to let Zayden win her over and tempt her to sleep with him. Zayden is way too hard to resist. Sexy and confident. Sigh, oh Zayden. You've got a heart under there. Stop trying to hide it. I love that even he was surprised that he could feel more for Aria than just this intense desire to win and sleep with her. I can not wait for the next installment.
I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to see how this story progresses!
Aria is a typical working college student that has had to struggle through life due her absent father and very sick mother who can no longer provide for her. Zayden is the very affluent, stricklingly handsome CEO of the small multi-branch bank where Aria is a teller. When Zayden overhears Aria speaking to a customer and telling a "white lie" about her engagement to him over the microphone at the teller stations, the attraction and interest in Aria begins. Since Aria's mom is sick, has mounting hospital bills and her loan has been denied by the bank's loan officer. Aria is in a finiancial dilema. Enter Zayden and his "contract" to date Aria.
****Loved, Loved, Loved this quick read and can't wait for the next part of this story!****
Great story! I was instantly captivated and consumed by the dialogue and personalities of Aria and Zayden. Claire created two characters that aren't easily forgettable. I love the banter and chemistry between these two. The circumstances that put these two together aren't the ideal of most, but Zayden was determined to have Aria in his life by any means possible. After reading the summary of this story, I was instantly intrigued. I was happy for the opportunity to read the first part of Aria and Zayden's story early. I am anxious to read the next installment and see how far their 'agreement' goes. Zayden may have bitten off more than he can possibly handle with Aria. I highly recommend this new series to others!!!
Wonderful debut book. I was given a copy by the author for review. We have so many rich guy poor girl serials out now it gets repetitive. However this one has a billionaire with a heart of gold covered in cynicism. Our girl is beautiful and very intelligent but buried in debt with her mom's medical bills. Let's just say there is a proposal made, can she stick to her morals? Will she change his playboy ways? I found I actually liked Zayden and Aria grew on me. Usually the college-aged girls are too whiney or too high maintenance but Aria holds her own. Great series starter!
This was a really great read. This story follows Aria, a college student who works at a bank owned by the young handsome Zayden. Even though she finds Zayden to be attractive, she needs the job too much to give in to temptation as the past few employees who have given in, no longer work there. Zayden hasn't really had a challenge when trying to bed a girl but Aria is proving to be just that. Zayden comes up with a way to help Aria get the money that she needs. What follows is the start of Zayden's plan to seduce Aria. Will it work? You will have to read it to find out.
Aria Roberts has to deal with a lot in her life, thanks to a deadbeat dad. She's in a bind and has to find away to help pay for her mother's heart surgery. When her playbook billionaire boss comes up with a way to pay for the medical bill, watch as Aria has to figure out if his solution is viable without braking her integrity and independence.
Great beginning to this story! Zayden, an arrogant billionaire, can have any girl he wants especially those at the bank he owns and manages. Zayden wants Aria, a lovely teller who works part-time for him at the bank. When his usual method of seduction fails, Zayden offers Aria something she can't refuse....$60,000 to cover her mother's heart surgery. All she has to do is date him for 6 months! Of course, his idea of dating is much different than hers!
This book keep me intrested from start to finish its was a hot racey read. it keep me wanting to read more to know what is going to happen next i loved it that why its was given 5stars
NOT A BAD READ ALTHOUGH I DID FIND ZAYDEN A BIT OF A JERK WHERE IN NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES, HE WOULD PROBABLY BE SUED FOR SEXUAL HARASSMENT. HE SEEMS TO HIRE GOOD LOOKING WOMEN SO HE CAN SLEEP WITH THEM & THE GETS RID OF THEM. THE STORY GREW ON ME MID WAY BUT I WISH ARIA WAS A BIT OLDER. THE STORYLINE WAS ... A BIT OVER THE TOP BUT ONCE AGAIN, WE HAVE THE YOUNG BILLIONAIRE WHO SEEMS TO HAVE IT ALL & ALWAYS GETS WHAT HE WANTS.
