In the world of love, fast money and guns, life is a gamble, and in order to survive it, you have to be all about your poker chips. When a robbery goes bad and she is arrested for a double homicide, everything goes downhill and the only person she can depend on is her sheltered twin sister, Summer. Will Summer have the strength to pull her sister out of the line of fire, or will the bloody street life be too much for her to handle? In this tale of lies, love and deceit watch how two worlds collide. Will the girls and the men who love them end up behind bars...or worse. Dead. Find out in the latest novel by National Bestselling author Blake Karrington!!!
Blake Karrington is more than an author. He’s a storyteller who places his readers in action-filled moments. It’s in these creative spaces that readers are allowed to get to know his complex characters as if they’re really alive.
Most of Blake’s titles are in the South in urban settings that are often overlooked by the mainstream. But through Blake’s eyes, readers quickly learn that places like Charlotte, NC can be as gritty as they come. It’s in these streets of this oft overlooked world where Blake portrays murderers and thieves alike as believable characters. Without judgement, he weaves humanizing backstories that serve up compelling reasons for why a drug dealer might choose a life of crime.
Readers of speak of the roller coaster ride of emotions that ensues from feeling anger at empathetic characters who always seem to do the wrong thing at the right to keep the story moving forward.
In terms of setting,Blake’s stories introduce his readers to spaces they may or may not be used to - streetscapes with unkept, cracked sidewalks where poverty prevails, times are depressed and people are broke and desperate. In Blake storytelling space, morality is so curved that rooting for bad guys to get away with murder can sometimes seem like the right thing for the reader to do - even when it’s not.
Readers who connect with Blake find him to be relatable. Likening him to a bad-boy gone good, they see a storyteller who writes as if he’s lived in world’s he generously shares, readily conveying his message that humanity is everywhere, especially in the unlikely, mean streets of cities like Charlotte.
Mr. Karrington you have done it again. This book was good. I was surprised Vick did what he did, but that's where greed comes in. Another person who let greed overrule common sense was Benny. He tried to play both sides of the fence and that will be his downfall. Summer stepped up to the plate when she was needed the most, and she didn't disappoint. Two heads are always better than one when it comes to the TAKERS. My heart was racing as I got closer to the end of the story, so I'm anxious to continue the story.
I have been reading Blake Karrington's books from day one and I must say he never disappoints. This book had all of the elements of suspense, hood love, murder, and mayhem. I was engaged from page one to the last page and hopefully I won't have to wait too long for part two. So if you are looking for a good read look no further because you've found it!!!! Great Job!!!
I was feeling this story. I already knew it was going to be a series because it was taking awhile to get going. This was different. I like the sister act that's going on here. There's a lot of drama and action that I see getting better in the next part. I didn't like how it left off though, that could've been better. I hate when a story just stops leaving you with nothing to think about. I will read on to see what happens.
Blake Karrington did not let us down with this one. It was truly OG from the beginning to the last page. These are two bazaar sisters and a ride and die crew. Plenty of action here.
Summer and Spring are twins that are definitely not to be messed with. I can't wait till Part 2 comes out to see if luv gets to be with Summer and what will he do to keep her? Once again Mr Blake never disappoints his readers!
