G.K. De Rosa has been an avid reader from a very young age. In fact, before she could even read, she tried fooling everyone into thinking that she could. At the precocious age of two, while living in Italy, she had memorized an entire children’s book in Italian and expertly turned the pages at the exact right moments of the story. As she grew up, she always enjoyed literature, no doubt having been instilled with a love of story telling from her early years in Catholic school where she was greatly influenced by exemplary teachers who taught her the value of English and Literature. Though she did not pursue writing in college and instead went for the more traditional route of International Business inspired by her love for travel and all things foreign, after a move to New York City, she found her creative writing side calling once again. She began writing a restaurant review blog, City Lights and Tasty Bites, detailing her other passion – food! The hectic hustle and bustle of the city, combined with long commuting times gave her the opportunity to spend more time reading and rekindled a lost love. After reading countless books in many diverse genres over the two years in New York City, and returning to her home state of Florida, she felt compelled to write something for herself. She had always felt particularly drawn to Young Adult novels and having been an eternal romantic at heart, a fantasy romance was a natural choice. She currently lives in South Florida with her real life Prince Charming and their fur baby, Nico the German Shepherd.
I just loved this book and so far this series. This is only book 2, but I'm loving the stories. I am lost in the story while reading it and happy to be there. This book definitely has GREAT twists and turns, things you find out and think wtf, seriously, I wasn't expecting that. I adore the hot, awesome vampire brothers. I'm glad Nico found a girl friend, at first I thought both brothers where going to pine over the same girl. Poor Roman, I feel bad for him he has always been good to Celeste. He also never lied to her, he told her he had a hard time when first becoming a vampire and that he did terrible things. I'm routing for Roman.
This book is fast paced, moving, moving along, with excellent characters and a story that is keeping me nice and happy and very engaged in the story. I hate when the book ends, I know I'll be reading the next one soon, but I still hate the interruption.
I received a electronic copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This book was great, just like the first in the series. It's definitely a different take on the vampire-love story theme that's been floating around a lot the last couple years. I really like how strong Celeste, the main character, is and continues to become throughout the book. She is a force to be reckoned with; and then we add in Roman to the mix... I really liked how their relationship grew and changed throughout this book. I sometimes think that love stories portray only the really great parts, not the real things that happen with a couple over the course of a relationship - the trials, the difficulties, etc. I also liked how there are different pieces of the supernatural spread throughout this book - there are werewolves, fairies, vampires, sorcerers, etc. It's not just a story solely about vampires and their relationships with humans.
It's a great book and a great series if you like these sorts of supernatural romances. I like these as an escape from my own little boring world of teaching middle school and high school. It's so different and refreshing to read a book like this with a strong female lead and her ability to fight on her own, rather than needing to be saved. Definitely a different and fun read. Highly recommend this one.
This started off quite slowly, clearly trying to get readers back up to speed with the characters. As within many second books in a series, this not only tries to deal with existing issues but also attempts to pave the way for new ones. I missed the interplay between the characters that was so prevalent in the first book, and the dual personalities (one dark, the other fun) of the Constantin brothers was practically gone here, but this book did manage to create a decent though sometimes predictable mystery which led to a conclusion that will make fans of the series beg for the third instalment.
I did find this an enjoyable read, just not quite as enjoyable as the first book. I think if there was a bit more personality conflict – other than just between enemies – this could have been great, but without that it fell short of a five star rating, and I really hope we get a bit more input from Celeste’s human friends in book three as for the most part they were suspiciously absent.
G.K. DeRosa has done it again in this heart-pounding sequel to Wilder (The Guardian Series). Celeste is nearing time for her Induction Ceremony as a Guardian, when premonitions bring to light that the struggle is far from over. Along with the Constantins Celeste conquered Fabian in book 1, but a new faceless enemy now threatens the heart of everything. The world of Astor is described in great detail and it shines a light on G.K. DeRosa’s skill in world building.
This sequel is incredibly fast paced, and I enjoyed the character growth that I saw in Celeste from book 1, when she was a timid teenager, to a young woman that is growing in her confidence in leaps and bounds. Celeste’s relationship with Roman deepens, and readers get a glimpse of his past as he and Celeste tackle current issues. Celeste also has a new partner, and he is all charm. Her life as a guardian is taking shape, and there was so much of the story to tell. We get all that and more. The story does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, but it flows from some fantastic story line and it makes perfect sense when you get there. That being said, I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. The Guardian Series has become a favorite of mine. I think I have officially joined the G.K. DeRosa fan club.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys YA or NA, fantasy, or paranormal. It’s safe for teens, and still has plenty enough bite to keep me interested. If this follows your interests, check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
Ok, so I liked the first one. It was entertaining, but I wasn't in love with the story yet. This book changed that. There's more actions and so much more of the characters we love. This might be weird being it's a vampire book, but there was more realism in this one to. By that, I mean the relationships developed more organically and the dialogue was just fantastic. I love when you can actually see a writer growing in their craft. The writing in these pages is just fantastic. A terrific second to the series.
Celeste is now fully entrenched in the guardian life. But, she's no ordinary guardian. She has two sexy vampires fighting at her side. They are one a mission to save everyone from a man who is more than what he seems. Forces withing the supernatural world are coming together to take down the guardians and steal something that has a value no one knows.
When I finished book 1, I was intrigued enough to give book 2 a try - not knowing how I'd feel about it. Now I can't wait to get my hands on the next one.
HOLY.......Cliffhanger is not the word......As soon as I finished I felt that someone pushed me off the damn cliff. lol WOW!!! If you have read the first book, then you HAVE to read this one. Secrets will be revealed, battles will be fought, but will love endure all. I was desperately waiting for this book to come out and as soon as I got the chance to start it - OMG I could not put it down. This book had me on the edge of my seat, holding my breath, turning page by page to see what was going to happen. G.K. DeRosa definitely knows how to pull you in, she pulls you in and holds on until the very end when she drops you making you hang on for dear life until the next book comes out. I know some don't like a cliffhanger, but this is the way to do a cliffhanger in my opinion. Make you want to throw your kindle, huff and puff, scream, then sit there like what the **** just happened. Now begins the stalking for the next book. ;)
For those who can’t get enough of the unexpected twists and turns of Celeste Wilder’s life story, this sequel means the chance to get even more involved. Celeste is working hard to figure out what her new identity means—after all, she was just a regular teenager and now she’s toggling back and forth between human and super-human. The cool thing about Celeste—what makes her so appealing—is that in her personality and day-to-day, readers sense certain aspects of themselves. At one moment, she’s just so normal, a girl ultra-worried about clothes and guys and just having fun. Then, on a dime she’s forced to face responsibilities and transition into a darker world where bloody battles, super-human abilities, and unpredictable outcomes mean she’s about as far from every day teenager as a girl can get! The sequel gives readers a chance to watch Celeste come into her own after accepting the Guardian role, and to follow along as she faces new challenges. Intense action scenes are balanced with revealing dialogue and some insights straight from Celeste's personal thoughts; she has a contemplative side, which is another reason why I’m so sympathetic to her character.
Of course, with any vampire story, a reader has to suspend disbelief and get on board. But doing so means you’re in for a really intense, fast read and that you get a chance to stay connected with a character that only gets more interesting as the chapters move along. The sequel also sheds more light on the sort of peripheral characters, including those Constantin boys and a few newly introduced personalities, who only add color and excitement to Celeste’s adventures—and give a reader that much more to care about as the narrative unfolds.
From the beginning, I was cast into the action of Celeste's Guardian duties. Each battle consisted of swift, life-like movements making this story action packed. And lets not forget the love. Yes, Celeste and Roman's relationship has advanced from book one but things change a bit. She finds out things about him and instantly thinks the worst. Even tho she had fought along side of him for months, he has saved her life countless times, she can't get over the thought he might have turned someone into a vampire. She finds herself second guessing her feelings for him. But it isn't just any person. It is Celeste's aunt - who is also an ex-Guardian in Poland - fiance. On top of everything in Celeste's personal life, she has to find the one responsible for attacking Astor and stealing her ring that Roman gave her which was his mothers. Twists and turns leave you speechless as to who Alec really is. What is next for him and the brothers? This story isn't just about Celeste being a Guardian and protecting humans. You find out about Roman and Nico. There lives and the lives of everyone Celeste has grown to love. Friends ship, love, betrayal... The list goes on. Wilder Destiny is a wonderful story with more twists and turns than a roller coaster. At the end of each chapter, I wanted more and at the end of the book, I wanted the next. Can't wait for the third book. I'm looking forward to see what kind of trouble they get into next.
I was given an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
Hmm, what can I say about Wilder Destiny, the sequel to G.K. DeRosa’s debut novel Wilder…oh I know, IT’S AWESOME. That’s right I gave it all caps. This book truly was just as good as the first and here’s why. There was action, suspense, mystery, intrigue, fun new characters to love, some heartbreak mixed with a dash of hopefulness, and a premonition or two that if proves true, could leave things in devastation. Now who wouldn’t love that?
Wilder Destiny picks up a few month later with Celeste now in college with several bad guy takedowns under her belt as she fights to keep her town of Oak Bluffs safe from all the things that go bump in the night. But when she’s attacked by a demon sent to kill her, it becomes clear that there’s a new big bad in town. Now with the help of Roman, Nico, and Stellan she’s determined to figure out whom this player is and what it is they want before something truly horrible happens.
All in all I enjoyed this book and it’s Buffy meets Vampire Diaries—while still being original—feel. I recommend it to all those who loved the first and for those who love a good supernatural tale that pulls you right in after only reading the first two sentences. Well done, G.K. DeRosa. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.
I like the tome 2 better than the first one, probably because the basics are now clear and we know Celeste has special abilities as a guardian. Her friends are the same ones and her enemies have multiplied and show their power now. Her abilities are fully developed or almost. She is now a great fighter. And she needs her strength to cope with the monsters attacking her and Astor. She learns about the past from her family and does not know whom to trust anymore. So, she follows her heart, but carefully. The guardian series is a nice one, especially for young adults, who will enjoy the romantic part. I liked the way Celeste acted smartly, waiting to know more before she decides to trust completely or to reject. I appreciate too to read a romantic book, because she is in love, without the usual amount of boring and repetitive sexual descriptions you find too many times. It reminded me sometimes of Twilight or the Hunger Games, not because the story is the same, but you may find some similitudes, from the vampires and werewolves to the two guys in love with the heroine. Some surprising revelations expect you at the end, where you are left on a perfect cliffhanger...
Even better than the first! I fell in love with the characters in Wilder: The Guardian Series and after reading the second I’m in deep. Each reaches new depths, revealing painful and dark secrets, complicating relationships as a result especially Roman and Celeste’s. I was honestly sitting on pins and needles, biting my nails with each action packed, romantic, and even heartbreaking scene. The twists and turns were unpredictable and so numerous my jaw was probably hanging open during a good portion of the book. There was more everything that I loved about the first one—more drama, more angst, more villains, more mystery, and more action. The ending was unexpected and explosive, leaving me jonesing for me. I will absolutely be reading the next and highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of the paranormal, forbidden love, mystery, and adventure.
Another great installment of the Guardian Series in which we are introduced to Celeste's Aunt Maddie, who was also a guardian. There are a lot of family twists from both the Wilder family and the Constantin's, some of which are very unexpected. Some very dark secrets are uncovered as old friendships are exposed in the pursuit of upholding good and yet, at times, defeating evil is not always at the forefront of their minds as new friendships are made as well. Did Roman really turn Mak's the vampire or is there another explanation for what happened that night? The night he was taken from Aunt Maddie in Warsaw. All the answers are there as well as a lot of other questions that come up. Like, Whatever is happening to Lilliana Constantin's body and why has Alek the sorcerer disappeared with it? This is a brilliant book to read and very entertaining to follow. I highly recommend it to all.
Wilder Destiny is the second book in The Guardian Series. We find Celeste has been honing her skills and that she, Roman, and Nico have been protecting the town from all the bad guys. We learn more about the fairy Marie and even learn that Celeste has an Aunt. Alek is the big bad in this novel and we learn why towards the end. I have to say it's actually a pretty good plot twist. We see some conflict between Roman and Celeste due to a vision of the past that Celeste sees.
The only major qualm I have with this book is the cover to be honest and only because she has curly hair not straight. I highly recommend this series. It's a fun read, that draws you in and leaves you wanting more. I can't wait for the next book.
I was looking forward to the sequel to G.K Derosa’s Wilder and it didn’t disappoint. I enjoyed Wilder Destiny even more than the first book of The Guardian Series.
There is so much to love about this book - premonitions of a new threat, a revelation that strains Celeste’s relationship with Roman as she struggles with her doubts and fears, Celeste’s uncertainty about Brains new paranormal love interest and so many twists, turns and surprises around every corner.
Although this book ends in a cliff hanger of sorts, it ends in a way that is still satisfying while creating anticipation for the next book in the series. I highly recommend you get your hands on a copy!
Oh the plot only gets thicker as the brothers race around trying to find Alex. Celeste is still trying to manage how to be a guardian and her breakup with Roman. I can't wait to find out what happens next
Another solid read in the Wilder series. I'm finding the characters more likeable with each book. There was significantly more development in this instalment. You really get to know the characters and the romance sizzles. Four glittery stars!
I thank the author immensely for giving me a free copy for an honest review. Wow, just wow. This book was an emotional roller coaster and I'm not sure I want to get off. While I was reading it, my heart was breaking and at the end, my mind was blown. An exceptional sequel to an exceptional series. I cannot wait for more!!
Am I even reading the same book as everyone else?! What am I missing here? I just want to skip half of it because it feels like fluff. Stopped at chapter 12 and not sure if I even want to keep reading.
Interesting blend of magic and supernaturals. If you love vampires, blurred lines between good and evil, and all around good banter, this book is for you.
