Alex is struggling to build a future, because the accident that stole her husband has also taken her past and left her with no memories, multiple scars and a leg prosthesis. A famous and talented photographer, her passion comes back to her and her career continues to flourish, but her next subject, an egotistical rock star may be her undoing. How can she be both repelled by him and attracted to him on a carnal level? It’s only been four months since she lost the man she doesn’t remember, so how can she even consider a relationship with another?

Landon can have anyone and usually does, just once and then he is out the door. His sexual tendencies are dark, he needs the control, and never has he felt such a pull to anyone as he does the damaged photographer behind the camera? She radiates confidence to those who cannot see behind her eyes, but he can and he wants her. He knows she can heal his damage as he heals hers, but are they really good for each other or would they end up destroying what is left of themselves?

Ella Miles’ Aligned: Volume I may be a novella, but the emotion and drama packed into these few pages feels like an eight course meal! Her characters are developing; we see their inner thoughts, their insecurities and are given hints at what lay in their pasts. Ms. Miles has done a fabulous job of creating an atmosphere of desperation, want and need as two people find a soul mate they are afraid to claim. Whether or not you are a fan of cliffhangers, this one is true perfection that will leave you hanging on for dear life and a glimpse of what is coming!

I received this copy from the author, Ella Miles in exchange for my honest review. We have no other affiliations.

3.5 stars!

I really enjoyed the premise of the story. Without giving too much away, it's about two wounded characters, each afraid to let go or let the other in. It made for some interesting push and pull interactions.

Alexa has been through a tragic ordeal. Beyond her being involved in an accident and a few other facts, her life is pretty much still a mystery to me. I kept reading to find out more but the author was sneaky so no big reveal yet... oh, except for the cliffy that is.

Landon is a huge pop sensation who seems a tad jaded. Throughout the book I couldn't connect with him. I couldn't get over his negativity and his absurd expectations from women. ALL women want him for his money. Whether they have a boyfriend or husband is immaterial. He won't step on another man's toes. But women are looking to him for a handout or for him to be Captain Save 'em. That's how he's portrayed. So every time he tried to show real emotion, it didn't seem real. Hopefully his personality gets sorted out in the next volume.

This is a free kindle novella by a new author and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised with the potential she is showing! A contemporary romance with new adults who have had it rough and are looking for a way to rise above the ocean, which seems to have been pulling them down for a while...

Alexa is a successful photographer, who has recently lived through a car accident and is forever changes. She "stumbles into" the path of an aspiring hot new pop-star Landon, and sparks fly almost immediately. However, there is a lot of baggage that comes with both of their pasts, and they have to figure out not only if anything is written in the stars for them, but also can they afford to open their souls to each-other without burning out in the process...

The atmosphere was very appropriate and vivid, the songs gave it that little extra to put us in the metal space of the two youngsters. There were some very minor issues with repetition and grammar, but it is minuscule for a self-published author and I foresee very good things for her in the future. The biggest strengths of the story was the pacing - this is something realy difficult to learn and I consider it a true talent, which will be a wonderful building block. The other is the beautiful chemistry between the characters and the sizzle that was blazing-up the pages by the end of the novella. It left me wanting more and obviously, I am going to hurry up and read the next installment in the series - I need to know what happens now!!!

Overall, this turned out to be a very pleasant romance and I would recommend it to lovers of the contemporary new adult genre lovers!

Happy reading to you all!!!

I could not stand the hero's POV. The writing style and the characters really did not grab me.

Alexa was just there. I know there was supposed to be this whole "story" concerning her tragedy, but I could not connect or care. I felt like she wanted a pity party. One of those martyrs that claim that want nothing from anyone, but secretly do. This is my opinion.

Landon's instant connection to her, I also did not get. Was it her "tank top showing off small perky boobs with tattoos covering her chest and toned arms" (loc 9%) or her "personality". Her inner dialogue annoyed me.

Reading is subjective. You may love it.

Freebies I regret starting.

This is a story about a damaged woman who is a survivor in every sense of the word. Alexa returns to her condo complex only to fall from her crutches face first on the lobby floor. Landon comes over to her to see if she is ok only to have her eyes locking with his and realize she is very possibly drooling over this sexy man. Alexa has no idea who this man is only to find out later on at one of her photo shoots that her knight in shining armor is a famous pop star.

So how damaged physically and mentally is Alexa and what would a sexy rock star want with someone so damaged as her? Granted she is a very famous and sought after photographer but she has also not taken any jobs since that one fateful day. Who is the mysterious man in that photo that Landon had seen in her condo? I really like this story but be prepared because it has one hell of a cliffhanger.

This was free on Amazon and I've previously read a couple of Ella's books so I knew it would be good. The storyline is definitely promising and it was a fast read. I bought the entire series since I couldn't wait to continue the story.

This volume has promise but is too short for me to have any confidence in a rating. It may have seventeen chapters, but it feels like a story just opening up.

We have barely begun to get to know the characters when the heroine throws another spanner in the works with a cliffhanger ending. And a cliffhanger designed to give you blue balls no less. In fairness, the heroine does seem kick-ass. The hero, so far at least, is generically emo and I couldn't help but roll my eyes at his supposed lyrics.

With some proofreading, there is potential for an interesting story. Sadly, though, I'm not convinced enough to cough up for the sequels.

Aligned by Ella Miles had to move must faster than I would have liked as a novella. There seemed to be an unnatural acceptance for the domineering personality of Landon. This caused me a moment of pause as I was reluctant to be able to feel the emotional build of this romance so quickly. Knowing that both Landon and Alexa have such an independent sorted past I am following through and slowly feeling that I am building a love for these characters, but it is with reservation. I am anxious to see how volume two will pan out, and see if it will overcome some of my fears.

My review is 3.8 stars for the entire series.
If part wise:

Aligned #1: 3.6 stars
Aligned #2: 4.0 stars
Aligned #3: 3.9 stars
Aligned #4: 3.8 stars
Aligned #5: 3.7 stars

When I started the book, I was thinking, if I made a mistake to start this series. The characters from the book were not so good, and I was unable to feel the special connection with the characters. But as the story developed more and more, I felt good about the story & the characters and my interest grew page by page.

Talking about the story, first of all, the characters - all the characters had felt pain in their life and searching for a relaxing ground to hold, a hand that can soothe their pain. I liked all the character but at the same time, I hated them at the same time. Throughout the book, there were moments when I was in the midst of liking the characters then suddenly a twist and I started disliking them. I think this is the quality of the author. I felt that I like the character of the story when the author wants me to. For that, I'll give full credits to the author.

Now, story, the story of the series is good, full of life & the special thing 'twists', lots of them. These twists made the story beautiful, interesting and attractive at the same time. I liked how the story developed from Book 1 to Book 5, in every aspect. The twists were cherries on the top of the cake. The pace of the story was also good in the whole series. If you start reading the book, you'll never feel that the book is becoming boring and you are losing the interest in characters or the story or the plot. You'll feel bound in the story.

The way author put down the story, the way author wrote the complete series is much appreciable. I love the author style of writing the whole series down.

I would like to recommend the series to those readers who want to see everything in a book i.e., pain, love, drama, romance, thrill, twists and much more.

Review

description

I’m hesitant to takes books like this on a lot of the time, because cliff-hangers, especially if the final books haven’t been released, well they kinda drive me crazy.
But take on this book I did and I enjoyed it. Both characters, Alexa (Alex to Landon) and Landon, they’ve got these histories that the further we move along in this book, pieces are slowly revealed about. There is definitely more going on under the surface for both of these people and the not knowing, well, it intrigued me.
Right off the jump I could feel for Alexa. Having been in an accident that left her without her leg, well it gutted me. It changed her, it changed me honestly because I could feel all of her doubts about herself, about her life, deep in my bones. I can’t imagine having to navigate life after such a traumatic experience as what she went through, but it seemed very genuine, so my hat is off to the author for that.
I also think our pop-star Landon was written true to form even though I don’t personally know someone in the industry. From the meetings with executives to the entourage that surrounded him, to the person he’s become on the surface and what you can easily see lies beneath that surface (the real him), it read very real.
This being a serial/series, I knew this first book would be just a taste of what’s to come, but the way it ended, I definitely didn’t. I love the slow burn, learning experience that first books in a series like this are and this one didn’t disappoint in that regard at all. I just figured this particular cliff-hanger ending wouldn’t have happened yet, but I’m glad that it did.
I’m interested to see where the author takes these two next so I’ll definitely be looking into the rest of the series. I feel a suspense driven feel coming on based on some instances here and I can’t wait to see if I’m right.
Great read and great start to a series, even if it was a short one.

guy meets girl who fell and dropped groceries outside of condo. He offers to help, goes inside condo with her, she falls asleep, he unpacks groceries for her and then proceeds to unpack all of her move-in boxes for her? Including bringing in someone she has never met to help and handle all of her things? I would KILL him. If he didn't murder me first.

He sees a picture of her with a guy and immediately gets angry because HE was thinking gross explicit sexual stuff about the sleeping woman he just met and he can't do that if she 'belongs to another man'

So anyway I am super grossed out

This guy, who has spoken like, one sentence, to the female lead, proceeds to be gross to her when they run into each other at the beach, saying angry things about her having time with her boyfriend. It all felt very abusive. Then, a new character is introduced, and clearly we are meant to hate her since she has fake boobs and is willing to have rough sex? Although the male lead is eager to have sex with her in an alleyway? And his though process is so gross. I like dirty talk in erotica and I'm not offended by any of the words, but this felt gross. Probably because it was almost out of the blue, and we know nothing about this guy even though we are in his head, and we know he hates the girl he wants to fuck. It felt like some gross couple at a park making out and you have to leave and end up feeling violated.

I'm not even gonna keep hate reading this. Not enough time in this world. (Also, I read for about a minute to get this far, and apparently I'm 22% done?)

**I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.**

Alexa was in a horrible car crash that took her leg. It's only been a few months post accident. She's having anxiety attacks whenever she's in a car. She doesn't have her prosthetic yet and finds herself unable to balance at times even with the help of crutches. When she falls in the lobby of her condo she's drawn to the sexy man who comes to her rescue.

Landon Davis is a musician. He writes what he knows, his relationship with Caroline provided tons of number one hits, but now he's coming up blank. That is until he meets Alexa Blakely. Something about her draws him in. She is lighting that creative spark in him again.

But there is more to this story than meets the eye. Who's the man in the photos she has in her condo? Is Landon really done with Caroline?

I didn't know what to expect with Aligned but I can say I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the suspense elements. I need to find out what happens or should I say what happened. I can't wait to read the second volume hopefully it holds the answers I need.

5 Star

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

This was a surprisingly awesome book. There was a bit of mystery and a whole lot of pain that Alexa is trying to deal with when she first meets Landon. And I have to admit that I didn't particularly care for Landon at first, but he grew on me as we learned about him more and more.

They both have a complicated story with a lot going on that makes for an interesting relationship... if can even be really called that. I found it very interesting and can't wait for more about these characters.

I really really liked that Alexa is dealing with the loss of a limb but she isn't letting it hold her back, she isn't letting it become the end of her life.. she is strong and determined and I really liked that about her.

There is definitely a lot of answers that we didn't get, but knowing that it is a four part series, I understood there would likely be some.

This was my first book by this author and I can't wait for more because it was so very well written.

I completely enjoyed this novella story! Alexa is recovering from a horrible car accident in which she lost her husband. Landon is an up & coming pop star. He sees Alexa in their shared condo complex having some issues struggling with groceries and her crutches and rushes to help. Alexa is instantly smitten by Landon's good looks and charm, but her past is still haunting her along with her missing limb. The two have some great chemistry together as the story unfolds! We get some bits and pieces of Alexa's horrific life changing past and also some insight into Landon and his sexual proclivities but just enough (almost frustratingly so) to keep us wanting more. The book was over before I saw it coming and I was left groaning in frustration. Certainly wanting the next installment! Story has great potential and I liked the author's writing style. Solid 4 stars for me.

Great Start

When I started reading this book I had no idea there were 4 more continuing the story, but so far I'm all in. Alexa Blakely suffers an unimaginable tragedy and is trying to move on but living in the same building as sexy rocker Landon Davis is proving to be more than she can try to ignore. When they are thrown together professionally, Alexa sees there is more to Landon than his panty melting smile and arrogant demeanor.
Landon knew the moment he saw Alex, his name for her that she'll be his next one and done but she is very different from his norm. Very different.
This book had me turning pages to get to the crux of what happened to
Alex. Fast past writing and enough mystery to keep me interested.

Why I kept reading this story which truely annoyed me from beginning to end, I have no idea. Even more surprizing is the 5 stars it got. I mean, did we read the same story? The h being an amputee still on crutches and having people call her an invalid and cripple was appauling but to refer to herself as a cripple? What was the author thinking?

And this was just the icing on the cake....

“I can’t wait to see what positions we can get you into. Missing one leg could have its advantages,” he says devouring my body with his eyes.

Really???? So insensitive. This is not ok!! The first erotic encounter and I physically cringed reading this.

I wasted too much time on this book I won't waste any more on this review. I will definitely be deleting this book from my library.

As usual I enjoyed a good dirty read. This book fits nicely into the romance/sex genre as I call it. It's a quick read with enjoyable characters. Of course they are both beautiful and desirable but that would never be enough to hold the readers attention. The story is strong but could have had more tension between the two of them driving their relationship. I wasn't the biggest fan of Landon for a lot of the book, some of his actions were kind of creepy at the beginning and his interactions with his ex-girlfriend at the beginning was very bothersome. That being said I did enjoy the book and would recommend for those who enjoy the romance genre.

How can you put a good rate of a book in which doesn’t happen a lot? We are introduced with both characters and we see that they have both some deep issues from the past but are all wrapped more or less in shadows. We don’t see any action; we don’t see any bed action just of hint of passion between them. We don’t see how character develops how they are change by love. Soo now I can’t gave a high rating because it doesn’t deserve it. I’m courious what happens yes but It is really that hard to write a book in whole piece and not dived it in more?

Why did I not give this book 5 stars? Simply because it is a novella with a story that spans over 5 "books." To me, this seems like an author trying to make money. I would much rather spend the money on one or two longer books than spend money on something that can be read in one sitting and not give you any answers.

Great writing, great connection between the main characters...everything otherwise was good. But don't buy this book if you're willing to spend the money on the rest of them.

Intriguing & Suspenseful enough to want to keep going for sure!

3/17/18 - Do not down play my two stars as Not liking this book. This is an honest review so please read in full. No Spoilers Here. Volume 1 is 17 small chapters that introduces Alexa, a somewhat well know photographer and Landon, somewhat of a rising music star. They’ve only known each other for about a month so far and occasionally run into each other. However, they are attracted to each other but the chemistry is more lustful in a way. A hot music mogul lusting and desiring to be with Alexa and seeing beyond her scars and a missing leg. She’s strong but so closed off and Landon’s attraction to her keeps getting the best of him. Neither is really likable at this point, but they are both hiding something big! There are secrets to be revealed and with a sudden ending I’m eager to dive into the second book. Usually these “Novella”type books are quick, simple and compressed reads that give you just a small taste with enough flavor to keep you dabbling for more. It’s not a horrible “Do Not Read” book (yet) but until I know how it’s evolving It’s hard to give a good solid rating on a book until I’m further in. It’s got enough to keep me reading, so keep a lookout for my honest reviews on Volumes 2-4(coming soon I’m sure:)

Interesting but not a book

It's the beginnings of a story where the author writes out every character and obstacle. But then they finish this part and edit. Caroline and the scene in the stairwell doesn't fit. I don't actually like Landon. He sleeps with any chick that catches his fancy, but punishes his ex and calls her a prostitute for doing the same. Those people are called narcissistic and I don't have time for characters like that. Maybe I'm old fashioned when it comes to fidelity, but players turn me off. I like Alexa but have no interest in continuing the story. Which is a shame because Ms Miles is a talented writer with a good grasp of creating realistic characters. She just needs to leave LA and find a better class of men. Looks fade, being a decent human being that is the stuff of eternity.

I read this book quite some time ago and had forgotten, so this was a reread of Part 1 in the series. Again I very much like this author, her writing style and the ability to create characters with self doubt or baggage, but with inner strength at the same time. I'd much rather read about characters with a chip on their shoulder than a whiny or weak one, so that is good.

I always prefer a story told in its entirety, so when I read it the first time, I purchased the whole set in order to avoid cliffhangers, which I think are somewhat disrespectful to readers, just a thought.

Definitely will read more by this author. Good story and character development, good editing, "love scenes" not porn and not just glassed over, a good happy medium.

Alexa is a professional photographer who has been in an car accident leaving her body and emotions scarred and taking one of her legs above the knee. Landon is a rock musician whose number one hit came from the break up between him and his high school girlfriend. Ella Miles has taken these two damaged people combining them with a gripping story of how Fate had them cross paths. There's an instant attraction on both parts but life has had a hand in how they deal with things. Not only their personalities but those of the side characters come into play. This appears to be a slow building burn and leaves the reader intrigued with a cliff hanger that opens more questions. I'm definitely delving into book 2 soon.

There is so much emotion and so many secrets contained within this little novella. Alexa was involved in a car crash that stole everything from her but left her alive. Landon’s a playboy musician with dark secrets he’s hiding from the world. The connection between them is nearly instant and overwhelming. Neither knows what to do with chemistry they shouldn’t act on. I’m very glad I can move on to the next part of the story immediately. I think I might have lost my mind if I had to wait to read more of this story.

Woah!
The first book in what looks to be an emotional tornado of heartache, passion and everything in between, getting to know Landon and Alexa- Phew I am hooked!
Drama, pain, heat, wittiness coupled with layers of mystery and intrigue- Gah- those secrets- they get me every time! Quickly I was consumed by their stories and what the future holds for them!
I cannot wait to see what happens next!
I requested and read an advanced copy of this book, any views expressed are my own, and are left without compensation.
