Will Nate, the handsome and charming billionaire wolf shifter be able to save her from herself as well as the forces that threaten to harm her?

Snow Leopard Mountain by Suki Selborne

I usually enjoy an anthology as its a chance to discover new authors and catch up with old favourites too. I will confess though that I hadn't heard of any of the authors here but spotting a winter theme with shifters in it I was very happy to just dive in. I have no wish to bore my fellow readers with long winded opinions on each and every story but will say that not all really pulled me in.
Ms Sweets story had an interesting twist on magic and winter with a heroine who completely confounded her alpha.
Ms Jones came up with something completely different and if I'm brutal it seemed a little sad, not my favourite type of romance,
Cynthia Fox told a story about sisters finding out that those they believed scary really could be tamed!
One of my favourite stories came from Ms Ryann about a woman finally making the right choice for herself and at the same time discovering that perhaps the grinch isn't quite so bad!
JK Harper showed that everyone can get a second chance and I'd be curious to see how this series progresses .
Ms Klaire had me thinking of a Julia Roberts film with a runaway bride who finds an unlikely ally.
I'm enjoying dipping into this book but confess not all the stories seem to be very festive . Such a diverse range of characters with bears, wolves and even leopards! It's the sort of book I like to pick up when alone late at night and just looking for a quick escape. I've still some stories to discover but at least I've found some new authors to search for.
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!
*** Received the boxed set in exchange for an honest review

****PARTIAL REVIEW****

At this time, I have only read A Honeybear Christmas and New Year Wolf in this set.

A HONEYBEAR CHRISTMAS
This is a story story and a Bearfield story. This is my first time reading this series and author which is sad on my part because I think I own at least 9 of her books.

I really enjoyed this book. It had some mystery about this Winter Witch and plenty of action and Christmas cheer! I enjoyed reading it and was happy to do so.

NEW YEAR WOLF
It is a short story and a Black Mesa Wolves story.

This is a short story about Caleb and Ree. This is for adults only due to the steamy content.

Caleb reminds me of someone who always think everyone is out to get him at times. Ree is his calm and sometimes his brain. This story is about turning over a new leaf as the New Year often represents. It is a great addition to the series, and I can’t wait to see what happens next with the Black Mesa Wolves and for Caleb and Ree.

I recommend these stories and this set to all the shifters fans out there. While I haven’t read them all YET, I will :)

Light a fire, snuggle up in your favorite reading chair and disappear into the world of the paranormal, where shifters exist, love can be found, harts can be broken and mended again. Is it the magic of the season that makes each tale a heartwarming read? Is it the sensual spice that warms our blood?

Fifteen tales of romance, from a lonely, cursed bear to the bear who stole Christmas to the grizzlies in Mistletoe Hollow, I found humor, a touch of sadness and lots of newfound love and romance! Imagine two bear shifters, selling mistletoe meeting up with two human sisters in desperate need of tons of mistletoe pronto! Yep, lots of kissing going on, for sure!

But bears aren’t the only ones who need love, wolves do, too…and runaway brides, panthers and even leopards, who knows maybe love will change a leopard’s spots! Not everything is sugar and spice, as one shifter discovers a lack of communication and broken hearts have almost stolen one of life’s most precious gifts.

Perfect reading, taking one story at a time, knowing here are more to follow! Together these authors have created magic, romance and freed our imaginations to fall into each story for a quick escape into fantasy! There isn't one story that didn't make me smile in the end, not one story that didn't have my complete attention! Best of all! Each story is unique to the author's style! Kind of like getting a 15 course meal for the price of an appetizer and no calories!!

I received this copy in exchange for my honest review.

I hate to write bad reviews, but this anthology sparked the creation of a new rating system for me. Going in the opposite direction of stars, these stories can be rated on a scale of 1 cringe--not too bad all the way to 5 cringes--"the horror". There were editing issues in every story, not egregious errors, just pervasive. Beyond the technical, the stories themselves were all on the cringe scale--being fair, I could give the first story one star as opposed to one cringe but that would be generous. Minus the sex, which was all badly written anyway, the stories would probably be better aimed at a teenage audience. The storylines and characterizations would certainly be more palatable to a juvenile demographic.

1. A Honeybear Christmas--the Morrissey brothers and their mates gather for a Christmas day cook-off. The plot about the Winter Witch was the best part of this one. It was an interesting thread, a little clumsy in execution but interesting enough for a short story. The cook-off--the loser (and their mate) has to run about a half mile naked. I can accept that shifters don't have a problem with nudity, but a man, shifter or not, who is fine with their human mate being seen naked by all and sundry isn't a great romance plotline. Just once I'd like to see a female character with the backbone to say 'no.' Also, according to the story, the 'record' for running this naked course is twenty minutes. I can walk a full mile in twenty minutes and I have arthritis. For shifter males to take twenty minutes to run would more realistically be a run of five miles (a 4 minute mile is sticking in my head as a runner's pace for some reason).

2. Bears in Wonderland-- 5 cringes Alpha Patrick Ravenmore's mate, Cat (the clan princess--important point) has been kidnapped. In the first chapter, it's established that the Council who is begging him to take on the mantle of clan Alpha are the ones who kidnapped her and put a spell on her to make her forget her entire life and then they put her to work in a strip joint (they consider this a 'normal' life by the way). They do this to get him to agree to be their leader and he doesn't kill them when they confess this to him. To be honest, I stopped reading at this point and the rest of the story apparently sees him seeking her out at her place of employment to win back her affections as a complete stranger.

3. Grizzly Bell Rock-2 cringes The O'Reilly sisters venture 'across the bridge' into shifter territory in search of mistletoe for their younger sister's wedding. The characterizations, dialogue and behavior of the two girls are juvenile, in fact this story would rate higher--maybe actual stars-- if the sex were pulled out and it's presented as a young adult story. As a new adult or actual adult story, it's cringeworthy times two.

4. How the Bear Stole Christmas 3 cringes. Andi has broken up with her fiancée and gone to Silver Peak to spend the winter running a friend's coffee shop for her. She spends the entire story waiting for her fiancée to come crawling back--her abusive fiancée who was unapologetically cheating on her. She meets a local man everyone calls 'The Grinch and ultimately her fiancée does come to get her back, treats her abysmally and she is still conflicted about whether to get back with him or not. She's a doormat--yes, abused women have a lot of trouble getting free of an abuser--it takes an average of 7 times for a woman to make that final break. It's not really a romantic storyline to read in fiction.

5. New Year Wolf 4 cringes. To be fair, I'm not a fan of Black Mesa Wolves to begin with, but this is just a scene with a lot of internal dialogue from both Caleb and Rielle (mates) about events from previous books overlaid on a fight club scene. No plot, not particularly 'holiday'.

6. Before the Hunt 4 cringes. There's no clear time period indicated so it's difficult to get into, but Sandra is about to get married. Seriously, the story starts as she's admiring herself in the mirror wearing her wedding dress and less than an hour before she walks down the aisle. She thinks that her mother has basically 'sold' her to this rich guy whom she then 'accidentally' overhears discussing with a friend why he's marrying her so she climbs out a window and literally runs, joins up with a royal caravan with the goal of finding a 'rich' husband. She runs into a shifter who doesn't want a mate and he agrees to help her find a rich guy to 'sell' herself to.

7. Bearing the Freeze 2 cringes. Cage Weston is a paranormal problem solver who heads to his home town to investigate some paranormal weather. Without giving any spoilers, he crosses paths with a girl whose heart he broke when he left town. Just a weak story without any redeeming qualities and plenty of plot holes.

8. The Cowbear's Secret Christmas Baby 5 cringes. Rachel's 4 year old son is dying. Her only hope is to actually tell the boy's father about his existence so he can get a bone marrow transplant. She's frantic to save her son, yet face to face with this guy she had some traumatic break-up with four years before (which is why she didn't tell him about the baby), she not only doesn't tell him about the child or the health crisis, she leads him to believe her son was fathered by someone else. Brady (baby daddy), roars and loses his temper in front of said four year old--this man is a military veteran, he's going to have a little more sense of decorum than throwing a temper tantrum in front of a four year old no matter how angry he is. As with all of the stories in this anthology, the characters act more like immature teenagers (I know teenagers who would act more mature than the characters in these stories). Also, "Rachel fought to keep a levee of tears from breaking." I know the writer was just trying to avoid the clichéd 'flood of tears' but that sentence just didn't work for me.

9. The Alpha Warlock Shifter's Gift 3 cringes. Danika is running away from her brother, the Alpha, who is making her marry a wolf from another pack to cement loyalties. She crosses paths with a warlock she met once before as children, they have sex and then she goes back and tells her brother okay, I'll marry this other guy for the good of the order. The warlock is an outcast and was abused by his evil, now-dead, stepfather--probably more important in the rest of the series.

10. Winter Solstice 3 cringes. Clementine is a witch who practices white magic. Clayton and his brothers were cursed by a witch eight years before. Clayton recognizes Clementine as his true mate, which would break his curse, but that doesn't turn out to be as important as his pride in the long run. Seriously, he'd rather suffer the curse than swallow his pride?

11. The Panther's Runaway Surrogate 4 cringes. Devanta entered into a contract to be a surrogate mother for a billionaire panther shifter. He spends time with her during the pregnancy without telling her that he's the baby daddy. When she finds out, she runs away. He finds her, she has the baby and runs away again (with the baby). He finds her again, they have sex--twenty four hours after giving birth! (That's cringeworthy in and of itself) She doesn't find out that he's a panther until the epilogue, which is two years after the events of the story.

12. Bear Naked 2 cringes. Another mistreated woman who's more of a doormat than the physician she's supposed to be in the story. Katie breaks up with a physically abusive fiancée, but 'forgets' to remove the huge diamond engagement ring throughout the majority of the story only to throw it at him when he shows up to drag her back. Other than a few plot issues, this had potential as a cute holiday story.

11. Jingle Bell Howl 5 cringes. Twenty year old Laney Reynolds defies her parents because she wants to go skiing with her friends over Christmas and they want her to spend Christmas with them. Her car won't start, so when they go out to dinner, she steals her mom's car and is planning to pay for this trip on her father's credit card. She behaves more like an immature 16 year old. Again, these stories would be less bad if they were YA stories.

12. Snow Leopard Mountain-3 cringes. Cadence is a personal assistant whose boss is kidnapped just as she meets a multi-billionaire named Sawyer. Sawyer doesn't even blink at the idea of dropping 30 million dollars to pay a ransom for a woman he's never met. By the end of the story, Cadence is being offered a job with a private paranormal security company because of her brief time at the police academy before dropping out to keep a cousin out of rehab.

13. Found-1 cringe. Least objectionable story of the lot. Claire Kendal is running from a bad man and ends up being rescued by Alpha Adam Colstone. Some over-the-top plot points and characterizations. Adam doesn't tell her he's an alpha because she's had bad experiences with alphas in the past so he lies (by omission), leading her to believe he's just a member of the pack instead of the Alpha. Considering her over the top reaction to finding out he's an Alpha, probably not a bad decision on his part.

All in all, not worth the time invested in reading it. Immature characters, poorly thought out plots--what plots there were, and pervasive editing issues are the tip of the iceberg that sinks this anthology in my opinion.

Shifters in the SnowJacqueline Sweet

Reviewed by SFF Dragon

I absolutely love the stories I've read so far and am looking forward to reading the rest as soon as I have time.

I was given a copy of the 'Shifters in the Snow' Boxset by Christa Kelley in exchange for an honest review. 'Bearing the Freeze' is her contribution so it was the first one I read and I absolutely loved it. I've read a couple of the other stories too, but due to assorted problems which made November a bit of a disaster for me, I didn't have time to read the rest before publication, but they look really good and I'll come back to finish reading them later in the month and update my review accordingly.

1 - A Honeybear Christmas - Jacqueline Sweet

2 - Bears in Wonderland - Amanda Jones - 3 Stars

Werebear Patrick's fated mate and wife Cat has been missing for a year and the Council says it has finally found her. But they want a blood oath that he will again become the Alpha in Wonderland in exchange for her location. After it's given they admit it was them who took her in the first place because Patrick was becoming too powerful, and they left her in a sleezy club as a stripper with no memory of who or what she is.

This story was ok, but Amanda Jones is a completely new author to me and this reads as though it should be the epilogue or final part of an earlier story I hadn't read so I was missing out on a lot and although it did have a happily ever after, I think the Council members deserve a few good, hard, kicks in very painful places for what they did to these true mates, but especially Cat because of what she's had to go through in the year she was lost.

3 - Grizzly Bell Rock - Cynthia Fox - 5 Stars

Desperately trying to find a lot of mistletoe at the last minute for their sister Paige's Christmas Eve wedding, Gracie and Catherine are given directions to Kind Herbs and Apothecary in Mistletoe Hollow, but it's across 'the bridge' they're never supposed to cross... in shifter territory. They've been told some really horrible stories about the land and the shifters growing up, but they need the mistletoe and decide an adventure is just the ticket, but what they find is very different from the horror they were expecting and has a certain magic all it's own. The owners of the shop, Truman and Joshua know they've found their mates and very quickly develop relationships with the women, but the happy ever after is brought about by a near tragedy.

Although Cynthia Fox isn't new to me, I've read very few of her books and I absolutely loved this sweet and wonderful Christmas romance which caused me a few tears then left me with a sappy smile on my face.

4 - How the Bear Stole Christmas - Claire Ryann

5 - New Year Wolf - J. K. Harper

6 - Before the Hunt - J. M. Klaire

7 - Bearing the Freeze - Christa Kelley - 5 Stars

Gage Watson, werebear and professional paranormal problem solver gets a desperate call from a place he swore he'd never go again, his hometown of Ridgely, Oregon. There's too much pain associated with the place and the love of his life, Lily Tisdale, the girl whose heart he broke when he left ten years ago. But, the town is suffering from some seriously freaky weather conditions that have been getting worse over the last few years and they need his help. Almost as soon as he arrives in town, he sees her driving her old truck, is told she moved to her uncle's cabin up the mountain and, deciding she's in serious danger, follows her. What he finds when he gets there is a broken, dying woman trying to save the town and discovers the reason for all the cold and snow.

I love Christa Kelley's books and this one is a fantastic holiday read even though I did cry more than a few tears for Lily and I absolutely loved the happily ever after.

8 - The Cowbear's Secret Christmas Baby - Liv Brywood

9 - The Alpha Warlock Shifter's Gift (An Alpha Warlock of Kala West Short) - Auriella Skye

10 - Winter Solstice - Gen Gericault

11 - The Panther's Runaway Surrogate - Alyse Zaftig

12 - Bear Naked for Christmas - Edith Hawkes

13 - 16 - Jingle Bell Howl - Misha Carver

14 - Snow Leopard Mountain - Suki Selborne

15 - Found - Olivia Arran

This is another great collaboration among popular paranormal romance authors. I always enjoy these sets and find some new authors as well as stories from some of my favorite authors.

This set has fifteen stories so you are getting a huge amount of material for a very low price.

I enjoyed the stories and will highlight some below:

Honey Bear Christmas by Jacqueline Sweet features characters that are part of a great series by the author. Two of the brothers have found their mates and everyone is getting together for the holidays for some fun and a little competition over who is the best cook. A desire to make the holiday special ends up placing them all in jeopardy but the spirit of the season saves them. It is a great series if you have not discovered it yet but also works as a standalone story.

The Cowbear's Secret Christmas Baby by Liv Brywood is another part of a series about brother's finding love. They need a Christmas miracle to save their son and bring them back together.

How The Bear Stole Christmas by Claire Ryann features a woman trying to find her place after discovering her fiance's lies. She meets a man who intrigues her but seems to push her away too. When her ex comes looking for a reunion, she has to make a choice.

Grizzly Bell Rock by Cynthia Fox is about two sisters trying to find some mistletoe for their other sister's wedding. They go into the shifter area where they have been told to never visit and discover that shifters are a lot of fun.

Bearing the Freeze by Christa Kelley is another story about a second chance at love. Lily had her heart broken by Gage and did a spell that has now backfired. He is back to investigate some paranormal issues and discovers how much pain Lily is in and works to fix the problem.

I have mentioned some of my favorites but there are many more great stories to uncover in this set.

I received a copy in return for a honest review.

A Honeybear Christmas by Jacquiline Sweet.

It was different and exciting at what I thought was going to lead up to a shifter falling in love with a human and vice versa, guess what I was wrong, it had already happened.
It was that time of year and Matt had brought his wife up to the cabin where his brother Marcus lives and here is where a cook off competition is held by the Morrissey brothers, between Michael and Matt who were lucky enough to have both spouses with them and who were both great cooks.

They were in Bearfield Northern California, snow was thick on the ground and the wind was was twisting and turning and growing stronger, Mina was use to snow but something about this lot of snow sent a chill up her spine, it was good but it was different, something spooky about it.

When shifter's and humans started to disappear Marcus who was the alpha of the Northern California bear shifter's and his brother Matt went out to investigate in their bear form and found most of the residents were taken, but by whom?

Here's where it all heats up or freezes, you choose, so remember that feeling I told you earlier that Mina thought something was weird and gave her that spine chilling feeling, this is it, am I going to tell you what it is no, but I will say this in order to save the ones she loves she does something out of the ordinary, because she can see a secret and she is the only one to spot it.

So yes this book is full of surprises and of cause it has explicit sex scenes, the story maybe short, but it leaves you with a sweet taste. I was given an ARC for an honest review, so do hurry and book your copy or go ahead and buy the printed version Jacqueline will not disappoint.

This is a review for: A Honeybear Christmas – Jacqueline Sweet
Another exceptional and fascinating story about Bearfield, which was an exciting read the more the story unfurled. Mina has steadied herself for battle; it is the great Morrissey Brothers Cook Off, and she doesn’t intend to lose. Unbeknown to Mina, her husband Matt finds a spell to make it snow; he wants to surprise her with a white Christmas. Unfortunately, Matt has summoned the Winter Witch, resulting in dire consequences for Bearfield – no one could resist her call, one touch of her lips could freeze a person solid. Confronted by the Winter Witch, Mina sees her loneliness and invites her in to eat and judge the food, while the Alpha and wolves give her sufficient heat to drive back the frost. To repay Mina’s kindness the Winter Witch releases those she has held prisoner and in return is allowed to spend the night with the wolves; the excitement is so overpowering that she transforms from the Winter Witch into the Witch of Spring. Mina and Matt were the losers, but it was the slowest and most enjoyable loser race that Bearfield had ever seen. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm still reading this amazing set so this is a partial review for the book I've read so far:

A Honeybear Christmas by Jacqueline Sweet

Matt and his human wife are newly mated and this is their first Christmas taking part in the annual Morrissey brothers cook off! Thinks dirty tricks and sabotage! Marcus is the alpha of their pack and his property is used for the cook off. Thankfully Matt and Michaels mates are both amazing cooks so this competition is taken very seriously.

But things are afoot in Bearfield Northern California. There is snow for heavens sakes and there are local shifters going missing. Who is this mysterious cold hearted female who is decimating the town?

As the story unfolds you see that Matt will do anything to keep his mate happy...sometimes without thinking of the consequences. The frosty lady also gets warmed up by some lusty boy band shifters!!!

This story is short, sweet, sexy and there is a ménage scene just in case anyone isn't keen on them.

I was given an ARC for an honest review.

SHIFTERS IN THE SNOW anthology
JACQUELINE SWEET – A HONEYBEAR CHRISTMAS
Another good story in the Bearfield series.
Amidst the normal chaos of a traditional Christmas day cooking competition the Winter Witch comes to visit, stealing the family away to her lair so they can keep her warm for the rest of the year.
When kindness is shown will miracles happen?
AMANDA JONES - BEARS IN WONDERLAND
I am missing something important in this story. I do not think it can be read as a standalone. It is obviously part of a series and we need more information as to why Cat and Patrick were punished.
Poor Cat, how horrible to be made to forget your life and mate then to be made a stripper for a year. No wonder she freaks out.
Patrick had to suffer as well but with his memories of Cat intact, that is just even crueller. Who did this to them and WHY?
I cannot find any other books to tie in to this one so no answers are forthcoming.
Real pity.
CYNTHIA FOX - GRIZZLY BELL ROCK
Really enjoyed this book. I had read this ages ago and it is still worth reading again. Cannot find any other books for this series and I would love to read them.
Author please note.
CLAIRE RYANN - HOW THE BEAR STOLE CHRISTMAS.
Loved the story and Dan’s mountain man look.
I thought Andi was a dithering idiot for some of the book. Really she lets Mike (the ex) come to see her. Sorry I have no time for women who are delusional. Really, her ex cheats on her, calls her fat then months later he apologises and she thinks about taking him back. Bah humbug.
Andi was so lucky Dan saved the day. I know he had told Andi she deserved better than him but he was trying to protect her. Andi could make up her own mind. Maybe. She was a ditherer after all.
I have found out this is book 6 in the Sierra Moon series and I plan to read the others.
J K HARPER - NEW YEAR WOLF - BLACK MESA WOLVES 4.75
A lovely revisit to Caleb and Rielle. Caleb has put himself together and grown some since his big mistake. Having his mate with him is a part of that but the rest is him maturing.
He now works and trains young pack members to fight and is running a fight school.
If you are a fan of Black Mesa Wolves, this is a must read. I am not going to give the story away but I loved the ending.
J.M. KLAIRE - BEFORE THE HUNT
What a fun read. Talk about denial. Will be looking at more of this authors books.
CHRISTA KELLEY - BEARING THE FREEZE
Whilst I liked this story it also annoyed me. The time frame was just all wrong. I just thought 10 years was too long for Cage to have been away from home.
He left when he was first learning to shift because he thought his bear would hurt Lily, but once he had matured he should have come back knowing she was his mate. I do understand his reasons for leaving but he left Lily to suffer for all those years. Saying he thought of her every night just doesn’t cut it for me. Not cool at all. 3-5 years for him to come to terms with his bear would have been more acceptable.
Lily just listens to his worries about why he lied and left her and then mates him. She has no concerns about herself at all. The pain and torment she must have been in to cast such a spell in the first place is downplayed. She was nearly dead because of it.
I am sure he has not been without female companionship all that time but she asks no questions.
LIV BRYWOOD - THE COWBEAR'S SECRET CHRISTMAS BABY
Have read this book ages ago. Once I started reading it I remembered it had annoyed me due to Rachel’s weak attitude.
You do anything for your child and go even further when he is dying. She was too slow in not telling Brady about Jimmy’s sickness. As a single mother with a very sick child she should have been portrayed as tougher than she was. You don’t survive things like that without inner strength. She allowed Brady to treat her badly again when she went to tell him about their son.
YES, she was in the wrong for not telling Brady she was pregnant and she was very wrong for not letting his family know about Jimmy. Yes, she said some nasty things but she thought he was her forever and he just went off and joined the Marines.
Brady was a bit of a meany and it seemed to be all about him and what he wanted, needed. He HAD to join the marines. Rachel never even had the time to tell him she was pregnant before he was gone. Yes, he had written to her and been ignored but she was only a child herself struggling with being pregnant, believing he didn’t love her when he left her. He never once thought about what Rachel was going through, never asked his brothers to check on her or anything.
He was very nasty to her when she came and tried to tell him about Jimmy. There was no apology until right at the end for upping and leaving Rachel. Then he says I FORGIVE YOU. OOOhhh I was so wanting to kick him where it hurts.
This book wound me up so I did not have that feel good vibe at the end. These two idiots deserved each other.
AURIELLA SKYE - THE ALPHA WARLOCK SHIFTERS GIFT
A cute short story that was a real pleasure to read just don't expect depth or background though. I will be looking into this series.
GEN GERICUAULT - WINTER SOLSTICE – EVER AFTERS 0.5
I have to read the rest of this series, this was just such a great idea and well written. Loved it from start to finish. Bought next book in series. I am super hooked.
Winter solstice ends without a HEA. It was a taster in the Shifters in the Snow box set.
This story was going so well and I was really into it them it just finished. Boy did I throw a temper tantrum. Had to contact the author to find the book as it was not available.
Threw me for a loop until I read the next book, Rite of Spring. You must read Winter Solstice first before Rite of Spring to really understand Clementine’s role.
The story entwines throughout the series until Clementine and Clayton get their story finished.
This author has done the most amazing and extremely annoying thing in starting this series by making the prequel, Winter Solstice, a massive part of the whole series. Well done and a great idea but I am very impatient to read them all.
Just loved Clementine and Clayton and the instant knowing they belonged to each other. Loved what Clementine did for Clayton with the tree. How sweet.
Then it all goes horribly wrong. I wanted to cry for them both.
Whilst I hate not getting a full book and being roped into buying the whole series to get to read the HEA for Clementine and Clayton. Having read book one Rite of Spring, I can only say WOW. Do it, spend the money and enjoy the ride. Their story is not until book four but the interaction of Clementine is paramount to what is happening.
I certainly will be getting each and every book.
ALYSE ZAFTIG - THE PANTHERS RUNAWAY SURROGATE
I found this story flow was disjointed. it was stilted in the speech patterns and was extremely haphazard.
This book needed proof reading badly. Because of this fact it spoilt the reading of the story.
At first I thought Devanta was also a shifter because they have sex only hours after she gave birth.
Devanta wanted love but settled for good sex. HUH! Then she doesn’t find out Guillermo is a shifter until two years later when the baby shifts.
With just some more work from the author this could have been a good story, but as is just did not make it. Just too silly for me, sorry.
EDITH HAWKES - BEAR NAKED FOR CHRISTMAS
A well written fun read. I will be looking for more from this author. I would just like to know what happened to the idiot ex fiancé.
MISHA CARVER - JINGLE BELL HOWL - Sorry did not enjoy this book.
DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME reading this unless you like stupid unrealistic shifter stories with the worst spoilt brat of a heroine I have ever read. Two wolves, one of them just changed, beat 30 bears, yeah right.
What a spoilt brat Laney is. She fights with her father about going away then steals her mum’s car when hers won't start. Even better she is going to use her father’s credit card she was given for emergencies to fund her ski trip. She then writes off her mum’s car whilst texting.
SELFISH BITCH party of one. Then it gets worse. Yes, really, I kid you not.
Nate is on his way to his cabin to have a quiet Christmas as it is a very sad time for him. He saves Laney from the wreck but when she wakes up she has no memory. Lanes then seems like a nicer person. They end up having sex within hours.
In the meantime, Laney’s dad has also just been caught stealing from his company. Stupidly he has stolen from a clan of grizzlies who decide to go after Laney as punishment.
After Nate fights of the grizzlies, Laney is told to stay safe in the cabin whilst he goes to get supplies. Of course Laney goes outside to build a snowman and the grizzlies come back. Nate saves her again.
Nate finds out from the grizzlies why they are after Laney and tells her, Laneys’ memory returns and she phones her parents. Her dad then says he will not pay the bears their money back unless Laney comes home for Christmas dinner. WTF.
Loved Nate, really hated Laney and her dad deserved a beating.
Whilst I liked the authors style I have never hated a whiny heroine so much and there have been a few over my lifetime. I do not know if she writes them all as rotten as Laney was, but her unrealistic take on shifters and life was just too wacky for me.
SUKI SELBORNE – SNOW LEOPARD MOUNTAIN
Yah, a new author. I am so sorry it has taken me so long to get to this book. What a great fun read. Will be looking for more works from this author.
OLIVIA ARRAN – FOUND
Every time I read one of this authors books I enjoy it and I always forget to look for her books.
I really loved this short story, it was just a page turner from the beginning.
A well written story about Adam, the Colstone Alpha who is taking a short break in his cabin as he is being pressured to mate. He knows his true mate is out there and he does not want to mate anyone else.
Then he hears a scream and finds Claire injured. in the woods. At long last he has his mate.
Claire is running for her life from a crazy coyote who thinks she is his mate. She has also lost her memory but it comes back quickly thanks to the mating bond.
They have a short time together trying to get to know each other and deal with the mating bond before the rotten coyote shows up and then IT IS ON.
Claire and Adam were lovely and a great pair and the back ground about Claire’s pack will I think come into play further on. That is a big problem brewing.

Interesting set of stories by great authors

1. A Honey Bear Christmas ~ Jacqueline Sweet – 3.5 stars
Mina & Matt go to the Alpha’s home on Christmas to celebrate and have the annual cooking competition, which has great repercussions for the loser. Meanwhile, there are odd happenings in “sunny” CA, as it is snowing only in their town, and people are disappearing. We have family, mystery and intrigue – and of course the results of the cooking competition.

2. Bears in Wonderland ~ Amanda Jones – 4.5 stars
An intriguing tale of Patrick looking for his mate who was charmed with “Lost” for a year – so she does not remember her mate, or even that she is a bear-shifter. Unique story-line, very short segment.

3. Grizzly Bell Rock ~ Cynthia Fox – 5 stars
We meet sisters Gracie and Catherine who are preparing for their sister Paige’s Christmas Eve wedding. They cannot find the mistletoe which is to be a theme of the wedding so must travel “over the bridge” to the shifter town which still has some available. There are rumors about what happens in the shifter town…..

Joshua and Truman run the Kind Herb and Apothecary Shop and are more than happy to assist the sisters but rather than give them what is in stock, have them join them on a harvesting trip which results in some mishap which requires major cleanup. The sisters continue to cross that bridge every chance they get prior to the wedding. Sizzling hot, and fun read!!

4. How the Bear Stole Christmas ~ Claire Ryan – 5 stars
Andi runs away from ex-boyfriend Mike and to a little ski town where her friend Becka owns a coffee shop. Daily at 10 AM “Grinchie” comes in to get coffee and pastry – so named because he never interacts with anyone. Except he starts to look at Andi, and thanks Andi, then even sits down to eat at the shop. What is the story behind his gruff exterior? Later Andi gets her car stuck and at the cabin she hikes to belongs to “Grinchie” – who is really named Dan. Sparks fly, but Dan has a secret and ex-boyfriend Mike comes back on the scene. Will Andi find her HEA, and if so, with whom?

5. New Year Wolf ~ J.K. Harper - 5 stars
We meet mates Rielle and Caleb. Caleb was stripped of being a Guardian (by his Alpha father), but is making something of himself through his fighting and training of fighters in his business Caleb’s Cage Killers. While at a fight former rogue Luke puts “paws” on Rielle to purposefully enrage Caleb. Luke despite his past is now Alpha of his own adjunct pack – promoted by the same father that stripped Caleb of his Guardianship. Luke wants Caleb to train him to fight, but there is something else he wants – will the recent successes continue, is this a test? Sweet romance with pack intrigue mixed in.

6 Before the Hunt ~ J.M. Klaire – 4.5 stars
We meet Sandra on her wedding day to a man she says her mother basically sold her to. Prince Kendrick says it was love at first sight, and rather than lose the family farm Sandra agrees to marry this man she has only met twice. Then she overhears that the Prince is being ordered to marry a princess for her money – and he is marrying a penniless peasant to spite his father the King who has squandered his fortunes. Realizing the empty promises she runs…..

Naythan is second in command of his wolf pack and like to keep all his options open, especially when it came to women. His pack is setting up for festival when they see a “runaway bride”. Naythan goes to make sure she is OK, and realizes she is his mate. Will she go through with a second “arranged marriage” to a gay prince or will her heart listen to Naythan? Interesting premise with some humor and some heat!!

7. Bearing the Freeze ~ Christa Kelley – 3.5 stars
Gage travels solving paranormal issues. He is called back to Ridgley, the town he grew up in, as it is getting colder and colder every year. Lily is a witch who cast a spell (gone wrong) to numb her broken heart when Gage left. Will the town freeze up – or can these two figure out where they went wrong many years ago. Sweet little story

8. The Cowbear’s Secret Christmas Baby ~ Liv Brywood – 4.5 stars
Rachel was going to tell Brady she was pregnant the day he announced he was leaving for war. Rachel left without telling about the baby so he wouldn’t stay and hate her for it. Her son Jimmy, now 4 years old has leukemia, and the only hope to save him is shifter stem cell transplant – as Rachel is human, Brady is her only hope. Sweet story which pulls on your heart strings.

9. The Alpha Warlock Shifter’s Gift ~ Auriella Skye (An Alpha Warlock of Kala West Short) – 2 stars
Slightly short and confusing; Blaine is thrown off a dock, but rescued by Danika – he is not trusted because he has magic and is a shifter. Together they realize their earlier connection and feel an attraction, but she is in an arranged marriage to another. Will they be able to work things out?

10. Winter Solstice ~ Gen Gericault – 3.5 stars
Interesting premise here – 4 shifter brothers are under a family curse – and each is only awake one season – We meet Clayton as it is winter now – and Clementine, a witch, has her car break down near their apple orchard. Family issues and the curse set the mood – BUT this is just a prequel to the real story – so we don’t find out what happens here.

11. The Panther’s Runaway Surrogate ~ Alyse Zaftig – 1 star
Besides editing issues, the surrogate Devanta seemed quite childish for no real reason. SPOILER ALERT ***** Then right after childbirth some shifter magic makes them able to jump in bed together – I assume the author has not given birth as next day relations could not light my fire under those circumstances. MORE SPOILER ALERT ***** Two years later in the epilogue she suddenly finds out they are panther shifters. No plausibility here.

12. Bear Naked for Christmas ~ Edith Hawkes – 4.5 stars
Loved this one! Katie goes to the cabin the family rents each Christmas. The neighboring cabin had belonged to Mr. Jenkins, but a green-eyed stranger Noah is now there. Sparks fly with these two, but Katie’s ex-fiancé doctor Simon, who hit her when he lost his temper, unexpected shows up and starts ordering Katie around. Will Katie return to her original dream or take a chance on a new one.

13. Jingle Bell Howl ~ Misha Carver – 2 stars
Laney wants to join her college friends skiing instead of having a family Christmas. When her car won’t start she takes her mom’s, which she wrecks in the mountains, and Nate, district attorney and Wolf-shifter rescues her. Laney loses her short-term memory for a bit and sparks fly between these two. Unfortunately Laney’s father is caught stealing from work and bear-shifters take off after his daughter to teach him a lesson. Laney is spoiled, the dad steals – and will only return what he stole if she comes home to Christmas dinner; Really?!? Found it hard to like these characters who lacked character.

14. Snow Leopard Mountain ~ Suki Selborne – 5 stars
My favorite of this collection!! Cadence is a Personal Assistant to a very difficult high-power woman Deborah. A lost laptop sets off a sting of events which ends up with Cadence meeting Sawyer Haines – snow leopard shifter. Sawyer recognizes Cadence as his fated mate and the chemistry is off the charts!! There are troubles at “work” for Cadence, but Sawyer comes to the rescue and sparks continue to fly.

15. Found ~ Olivia Arran – 3.5 stars
Adam, is an alpha taking a short break from his pack – as he is being pressured to take a mate and produce an heir. He discovers Claire who is running for her life from coyote shifters with a hurt leg. She collapses and shifts to human form just prior to being found by Adam who realizes she is the answer to his dilemma – and his fated mate. The coyote Alpha also believes Claire is his fated mate and does not give up. Who will triumph in this battle? Interesting story.

Given to me for an honest review. Some of these stories are short and some seem like they are missing something. But they still rate 4 stars

A Honeybear Christmas by Jacqueline Sweet---Matt is trying to calm his mate about the cook-off and the losers having to run naked to the lake and back. The Alpha goes to check out the older bears and they are missing. The Winter Witch wakes up because the weather is very cold. So she goes looking for people to make her warm. The Alpha is very worried about his people as more go missing. What happens when the shifters see the Winter Witch?

Bears in Wonderland by Amanda Jones---The Alpha had his mate stolen from him and that caused him memory loss and fits of rage. The Council decided he was OK now and he could take his oath and be Alpha again. The Council had stolen his mate and now they tell him where she is. Will she remember him? The spell was for a year and she doesn't remember him now.

Grizzly Bell Rock by Cynthia Fox---Two sisters try to find mistletoe for their other sister's Christmas Eve wedding. No one crosses the bridge but they have been told they would find mistletoe there. To keep their sister happy they cross the bridge and meet two crazy shifters who hide behind the counter and go “Grrr” when people cross the bridge to their side. Rumor has it that it that there are monsters across the bridge. Are the sisters safe? Will they find mistletoe?

How the Bear Stole Christmas by Claire Ryann--- Andi is helping her friend by coming to Silver Peaks to work at her coffee shop. Andi looked up at the door and there was the biggest man she had ever seen. People call him the Grinch. He got his order and stood in front of Andi. He sniffed and looked her up and down. He walked out the door cursing under his breath. Jen says he likes Andi. On her day off she decides to go for a hike. She starts home and the car slides off the road and she is stuck. She starts walking because she has no signal on her phone. She sees a house and decides it is probably safe to ask for help. Does she get help? Who is the owner of the house?

New Year Wolf by J. K. Harper---Caleb made bad mistake and his Alpha removed him as Pack Guardian. He finally is able to hold his head up when the fighters he trains become winners. He still misses fighting for his pack. Will the pack alpha ever return him to the Guardian position?

Before the Hunt by J. M. Klaire---Not sure of the time or place for this book. Sandra wears a white wedding gown, some of the females are wearing pants, and some of the words used belong to a later time. If you can get past this, the story flows nicely. Sandra needs money since her father died. A prince offered marriage and a place for her mother. She wonders why he picked her. She hears the groom tell his friends why he is marrying her. She is upset and decides to runaway and find someone else to marry. She sees a bunch of people and realizes they are going to the winter festivities. Where better to find a husband than in the King's entire court. Can she find someone she can live with and will welcome her mother into his household?

Bearing the Freeze by Christa Kelley---Gage's job takes him to his hometown. They are having major snow storms and want his help. When he arrives, he can see why Tom was so concerned about the weather. It seems to be coming from a particular place in the woods. Gage sees his old girlfriend. He had broken up with her and left town. Now his bear is yelling Mate,Mate. Will Gage be able to find the source of these storms and stop them? Will Gage go along with his bear or will he leave again?

The Cowbear's Secret Christmas Baby by Liv Brywood---Rachel has been a single parent for 4 years and those years have been very difficult. Her son is dying from cancer and nothing worked. His last chance is a bone marrow transplant. Only problem is Brady doesn't know he's a father and he is the only one left to be a match for the procedure. Where is Brady now? Will he believe that he is a father?

The Alpha Warlock Shifter's Gift (An Alpha Warlock of Kala West Short) by Auriella Skye---A boy fell from the man's hands into the water. He continues downward until Danika rescues him. Twelve years later Blaine is having trouble with all of the Supernaturals. They don't trust him just because he has magic and is a werewolf. When she comes back up from the water, he realizes that she had saved 12 years ago. He is attracted to her and she to him. Will they act on this attraction?

Winter Solstice by Gen Gericault---Clementine helps a ghost to move on. The weather is bad, but she is a witch. She won't have trouble with the weather. When Blaine almost rear ends Clementine, he goes to her car window and smells cinnamon. She offers to share the pie with him. When they reach the farmhouse, what will they find out about each other? What will she do about the curse?

The Panther's Runaway Surrogate by Alyse Zaftig---His surrogate ran away when she found out who he was. He's very rich so it was easy to find her and take her home with him, especially when she fainted. With the baby delivered, she needed to have more freedom than she was allowed. When Guillermo arrives the next morning, Devanta and the baby are gone. Will he find them again? Will he find a way to keep both of them?

Bear Naked for Christmas by Edith Hawkes---Katie is going to share Christmas with her parents. When she arrives she sees a stranger trying to get into a neighbor's cabin. She left her common sense back in her car and approaches the very big male. Later she finds out that Noah is a relative of the deceased Mr. Jenkins. The next day she carries a mug of cocoa to him while he is repairing his front door. They end up kissing and Laney's exfiance wants to know what is going on. She still has his engagement ring because she forgot to give it to him. Will she convince Noah and Simon that she will not continue her engagement to Simon under any conditions?

Jingle Bell Howl by Misha Carver---Laney is 20 years old, living at home. Her parents refuse to pay for the trip with her friends. She drives off in her mother's car. Nate is going to his cabin so he can be sad by himself. Laney's father has a problem at work and the boss will seize his dearest thing. Laney and Nate meet in an unexpected way. What will happen when she remembers her name?

Snow Leopard Mountain by Suki Selborne---Cadence has lots more patience than I would have. Her boss is a walking, talking complaint machine. Cadence doesn't get to answer most of her questions until her boss wants to know where her laptop is. Cadence checks all the rooms before thinking that it is at the airport. And of course, her boss doesn't backup her laptop. On her way to the airport she stops to watch a mountain lion sit in the road in front of her car. After he leaves this man exits from the woods with pants on and nothing else in 25 degree weather. He flirts with her until she remembers the laptop. Sawyer asks about the laptop on the passenger side of the car. She has a problem when she arrives at the house. Sawyer arrives before the police. Cadence doesn't know why she feels so safe in Sawyer's arms. Will she continue to feel safe around him? Will the police solve her problem?

Found by Olivia Arran---A female shifter is running for her life. Before the hunters find her, a wolf finds her and takes her to his cabin. His wolf jumps up and down---Mate!!!Will she shift enough to save her life? Or will she need her mate help her heal?

A Honeybear Christmas – Jacqueline Sweet
Love the Bearfield series. In this episode, the author gives the paranormal a complete twist that was unexpected, but extremely pleasant. If you haven’t already read the other books in the series, I suggest you do, but it is not necessary to follow this book, as it is a standalone in it’s own right. Ms. Sweet has developed a series that will have you laughing throughout, yet has so many sweet and gentle moments, you want to look for a geyser to find out where it’s oozing from. I love Mina and Matt. They are the “darlings” of Bearfield and if you don’t fall in love with them, you’re as cold as the Winter Witch. You will have to read to discover what that’s all about. But don’t fret, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. I know I wasn’t.

Bears in Wonderland – Amanda Jones
Short and a bit confusing, but I liked it anyway. I hope this is a prelude to something because it could be more than wonderful if the author continues with the story. She sure has my intrigue piqued.

Grizzly Bell Rock – Cynthia Fox
OMG! I loved this. A short and sassy love story that will have you rolling on the floor laughing one minute, and hot and bothered the next. Throw in a few tear-jerking moments and you’ve got yourself a winner of a tale of how Gracie and Catherine come to meet Joshua and Truman. Two love stories for the price of one. Awesome read. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from Mistletoe Hollow and it’s inhabitants.

How the Bear Stole Christmas – Claire Ryann
Awww! Now this is a story you could sink your teeth into. A true shifter romance full of excitement and overflowing with love. Dan and Andi make the perfect couple, and sparks tend to fly from the first moment they met, but Andi’s ex, Mike, likes to play the scrooge and throw a monkey wrench into the fire every once and a while. Great story and I could definitely see a series from Silver Peak. Great read.

New Year Wolf – J.K. Harper
This was a cute short novella that will have your heart beating quickly and your eyes cleaning themselves out. A great story of how Caleb has turned his life around, only to find a new place in life for him and his mate Ree. Former rogue wolf, Luke, has been given a chance to start his own pack. As he approaches his arch rival, Caleb, for help, who knows how their relationship will end. Great read with many unexpected twists. Loved it!

Before the Hunt – J.M. Klaire
Loved this! This is the beginning of a wonderful series, Alpha Hunted. In this, the author has introduced us to a few of the characters to come, including the hero and heroine of this book, Sandra and Naythan. Read about the stormy beginning these two have and the reasons why. Worth the read and definitely looking forward to the next episode.

Bearing the Freeze – Christa Kelley
When Lily has her heart broken a decade ago, she casts a spell thinking it will numb the pain caused by Gage, the polar bear shifter. Little did she realize the side-effects her spell would cause. When Gage, now a “ghost hunter”, gets a call from his best friends’ dad Tom, seeking his help for the town he grew up in, he can’t refuse.
Will he be able to figure out what has been going on in Ridgely? Will he be able to fix it as well as his own broken heart? A great short story worth the read.

The Cowbear’s Secret Christmas Baby – Liv Brywood
This story is all about heart and heartache. When curvy Rachel finds herself desperate for help with finding a cure for her young son's leukemia, she is left with only one solution...going out and finding his father and asking for his help. The only problem is that she hasn't yet told him he's a father.
Brady left four years ago to become a Marine. When he left, he thought he'd never see Rachel again.
Liv has truly outdone herself with this book. She has taken a very real disease and how it affects families, and tried to instill hope for not only a cure, but of how tragedies can turn into the best results, bringing renewed health and rejoined lost loves. And who can resist those hunky cowbears? The best of two worlds being a shifter and a cowboy all rolled up into one...yum!
Great short read that will have your heart as warm as a cup of hot cocoa.

The Alpha Warlock Shifter’s Gift – Auriella Skye
Short and sweet, this sassy novella will have you wishing you were Danika. She saved Blaine over a dozen years ago, only to come across him when she’s at her lowest. This time, it’s his turn to save her. Great beginning to what I hope will be an even better series.

Winter Solstice – Gen Gericault
Aggggh!!! Cliffhanger alert! Wow! What an exciting and hot beginning to the story of Clayton and Clementine. My only disappointment is that it wasn’t long enough, or complete. I want the next part now please. This is one of the most exciting books I have read, and has a promise for so much more. Love the shifter/witch coupling. Well written and packed full of heat. Awesome read!

The Panther’s Runaway Surrogate – Alyse Zaftig
A cute short story that will have you wondering how you can get your own panther.

Bear Naked for Christmas – Edith Hawkes
Lots of action in this short novella. This book is the first I have read from this author, and I would very much like to be reading more from her. I loved this story and am anxious to read more from the Scarfell Mountain bears. Well written with characters you can’t help but love. Truly, a great short, perfect for bedtime.

Jingle Bell Howl – Misha Carver
The author has given us a cute short story that was easy to read. I loved the characters, spoiled brat Laney, and all the trouble she seems to find, and of course, hunky wolf shifter Nate, who just happens to be going by, and keeps on going until his conscience gets the better of him. Good thing he went back. Loved the story. My only dislike, and it was minor, was that it felt like the story had been translated, giving it a stiff style of writing. It was still very easy to read and nothing was lost because of it.

Snow Leopard Mountain – Suki Selborne
A little bit of suspense, a dash of intrigue, a lot of action and even more love floating around in the mountains. What a wonderful little love story. This is the first book I have read from this author, and I hope it’s not the last. I love her sassy style, great plot and awesome characters. Definitely worth the read.

Found – Olivia Arran
What a great way to end the anthology. This book, even though it is short, is packed full of action of all kinds. When Claire is found in the snow, with barely a pulse, Adam knows he has to take her home and patch her up. His wolf also know, she’s their fated mate. But, while he doctors her up, little does he know of the danger per predator brings. Well written, this plot will have you on the edge of your seat. Loved it.

ARC provided through insta-freebie.com for an honest review.

Setting: Varies by story, but is mostly general more than specific.
Genre: Paranormal shifter romance

I really enjoy anthologies because they usually give me a chance to check out some new-to-me authors. In this case, Cynthia Fox is the only author I've read (Mr. Davenport Never Left is in several bundles, and it is definitely worth looking for). As for the others, some I will seek out in the future, and some I will avoid like typhus.

I was afraid, given the number of 2 star stories in the book, I'd have to go with a solid average average 3 stars. . However, more than half are 4-5 stars, so I can truly recommend giving this a chance.

#1. A Honeybear Christmas by Jacqueline Sweet
A sweet, well-written fairytale/family drama. A close knit family/community run into problems during a light-hearted Christmas contest. a novella following up the first two books of the Bearfield series.
#2. Bears in Wonderland by Amanda Jones
And the strength plummets. This story flips back and forth between first person present tense to first person past tense, sometimes within a sentence. So, something like an "I go to the store and bought..." issue. It is very off-putting. I would say that the plot is interesting, but the lack of a backstory is disconcerting, which give it a feeling of incompleteness. And why did the Council do what it did, and why did they put Cat in such a horrible, degrading position? Add to that an atmosphere of almost rapey desperation and whole thing devolves into a mess.
#3. Grizzly Bear Rock by Cynthia Fox
I laughed and laughed. The characters, probably due to length constraints, lack much depth, but with such witty situations and dialogue, it matters not one bit. A couple of sisters wander into the forbidden land, and... I truly enjoyed spending time looking for mistletoe.
#4. How the Bear Stole Christmas by Claire Ryann
Sweet story about a heart-broken woman and a hairy mountain man. Well written, with interesting characters, and a strong plot. I did get tired of Andi wanting her ex, despite his philandering, and disrespect for her.
#5. New Year Wolf by J. K. Harper
Although this story has some romance, it is more about the personal growth of the male protagonist. Well-written and edited enough that my internal grammar geek didn't scribble any notes of outrage.
#6. Before the Hunt by J. M. Claire
A runaway bride story set in an indeterminate setting & time period. Sort of a modern ethos in a fairytale. I didn't make note of any glaring errors, and gave it 4 star rating. Sweet. Well, there's sex, butt the plot is cute.
#7. Bearing the Freeze by Christa Kelley
One of my favorites that I had marked down as a 5 star read, despite numerous dropped or out of order words. An interesting concept in a nice plot. A girl's response to heartbreak leads to devastating results for the woman 10 years later. I like both protagonists, and the setting is described well.
#8. The Cowbear's Secret Christmas Baby by Liv Brywood
A story based on a tried & true premise, with a good plot and characters with a surprising depth given the length of the story. There's just the right amount of angst before the HEA.
#9. The Alpha Warlock Shifter's Gift by Auriella Skye
Undeveloped plot based on ?? premise. The writing is very simplistic, and the characters come across as more immature than they should be. It's like the characters are young adolescents trapped in an adult situation. The dilemma in the story has a sudden, unreasonable solution, and the whole thing is uneven. This would have been a DNF had I not promised an honest review. In my notes, I gave it 2 stars, but honestly, that's generous.
#10. Winter Solstice by Gen Gericault
Well-written, interesting plot based on an unusual premise. Very little here to grind the grammar geek's gears. But... It's supposed to be a prequel to a new series, but prequels are supposed to be complete, not prologues. This does not have a HEA because it just wasn't finished.
#11. The Panther's Runaway Surrogate by Alyse Zaftig
One of the most uncomfortable pieces I've ever read. It is so stiff and unnatural that the whole story was ruined. The characters are more shallow than should be expected even in a short story. This comes across either as a high school writing assignment, or the work by someone for whom English is a second language. Or like a bad translation by someone reliant on a translator dictionary. Unless you're reading the book for review, skip this.
#12. Bear Naked for Christmas by Edith Hawkes
Okay. Not spectacular. Given the situations, there isn't a lot of tension. The entire story seems truncated, with boring sex. The characters aren't very well developed, and there's just an uneven quality to the story. I guess it would fall into a 2-3 star range.
#13. Jingle Bell Howl by Misha Carver
The best part of this story is the title. Pretty sad, huh? There are multiple points of view handled poorly. The only character with any definition is the female protagonist, Laney. She is one of the most spoiled, unpleasant people I've ever read. She is so immature and unlikable. And stupid. If, after a dangerous situation, you're told to stay inside, you don't go out and build a freakin' snowman! The plot is very uneven, with poor exposition. Would the CEO of a company have a boss, besides a board of directors? Anyway... You can give this a miss. I gave it 2 stars because the title is vaguely amusing.
#14. Snow Leopard Mountain by Suki Selborne
This has an interesting plot, with good character development. However it has a rushed, uneven feel to it.this is a follow-on to the Tiger Billionaire serial.
#15. Found
The dual points of view concept is handled well. The characters are interesting, and well developed. And there's action! And the female protagonist isn't a passive woman dependent on a man to solve all her problems. Overall, it's well-written, but the flow is uneven.

So, this is, overall, a good read. If you have time for only a few, I recommend that you give 2, 9, 10, 11, 12, & 13 a miss. The rest of the stories are decent, if not better.

**I was given a copy of this book for an honest review**
Great shifter bundle to get you in the holiday spirit! Grab this book and bundle up!

A Honeybear Christmas by Jacqueline Sweet: Never actually read any of the Honeybear series previous to reading this short story, but I'm now sold and just have to catch up on the Morrissey brothers. When a winter witch arrives in Bearfield Mina will have to show everyone that Christmas is about second chances and family. Not about winners and losers in a traditional dinner cook-off. (4 out of 5 stars)

Bears in Wonderland by Amanda Jones: When Cat has a "lost" spell cast upon her, she's left with no memories of who she is or where she comes from. Working at a strip club called Cheaters she's doing what she can to survive. After living a whole year thinking his mate has been taken, Patrick is determined to find her and make her remember them. Short little Christmas miracle for these two alpha bears. (4 out of 5 stars)

Grizzly Bell Rock by Cynthia Fox: When the youngest of the O'Reilly sisters decides to get married on Christmas Eve, the older 2 are in for adventure when they cross the bridge to Mistletoe Hollow. These 2 sisters are hilarious and I love that they can make jokes about themselves as well as speak their minds. (5 out of 5 stars)

How the Bear Stole Christmas by Claire Ryann: After discovering her fiancé was having an affair Andi takes the chance to help run her friends coffee shop, and uses the opportunity away to figure out what to do next with her life. But now the man the locals call "the Grinch" has caught her eye and she's curious what's underneath all that gruff. Can Andi find happiness this Christmas holiday with a man who wants her curves and all? (4 out of 5 stars)

New Year Wolf by J.K. Harper: Great story about second chances and new beginnings. After being stripped of his position in the pack, Caleb is left to now find a new path for him and his mate. But an offer from Caleb's enemy has him confused one what his next decision should be. I will say I never read any of the other books in this series, so I was really confused and annoyed that I never got to find out why Caleb was stripped of his Guardian duties, but it's referred to many times throughout the story. (3 out of 5 stars)

Before the Hunt by J.M. Klaire: One runaway bride. One werewolf afraid of commitment. I'm sold! Sandra is looking for a rich husband. Someone to offer her security and help keep her mother from living on the streets and starving. Naythan NEVER wants to find his mate. He's happy jumping from woman's thighs to the next. But when his wolf catches the scent of his mate he's got to decide whether to fight his wolf or follow him. I LOVED this story! Always follow your heart, even when it doesn't seem the path to the future is clear. (5 out 5 stars)

Bearing the Freeze by Christa Kelley: After years of staying away from his home town, Gage has now returned. But not for a social trip, this trip is to figure out what paranormal activity is causing the winter storms that keep hitting the town. When he gets to town he's in for the biggest surprise in the form of Lily Tisdale, the woman who's heart he broke 10 years before. Lily only wanted to eliminate the pain of her broken heart. But magic can be so unpredictable and now her heart is literally turning to ice. Will this polar bear be able to fix what he broke? (3 out of 5 stars)

The Cowbear's Secret Christmas Baby by Liv Brywood: When her son is in need of an operation to live, Rachel must find the bear shifter who broke her heart 4 years earlier. After joining the Marines, Brady has no returned to help his family on the ranch. When Rachel pops back up in his life with a secret she's kept from him he must decide if he can forgive her and live the rest of his life happy with his mate and son or be a bitter ol bear. (4 out 5 stars)

The Alpha Warlock Shifter's Gift (An Alpha Warlock of Kala West Short) by Auriella Skye: Short and sweet novella. Danika and Blaine have a connection that not only connects their wolves but also Blaine's magic. (3 out of 5 stars)

Winter Solstice by Gen Gericault: Ugh! I'm quite annoyed by the cliffhanger on this story! Right when it was getting good too. Can't wait to find out how Clayton and Clementine get over the big hurdle in front of them. (3 out of 5 stars)

The Panther's Runaway Surrogate by Alyse Zaftig: I hate leaving bad reviews, but this one was probably the worst short of the bunch. There were quite a few editing issues that really shouldn't have been overlooked. The story developed so fast and no character development at all. (1 out of 5 stars)

Bear Naked for Christmas by Edith Hawkes: Going up to the mountain for some family time is exactly what Katie needs this holiday season. But when her ex-fiance refuses to let her leave him she'll find out her neighbor is hiding a different furry side to him.

Jingle Bell Howl by Misha Carver: Eh, I didn't much care for this short story either. It felt a little stiff and I didn't really connect with the characters. I didn't feel there was much development and I can't really stand when they say " I love you" only after knowing each other a couple days. (2 out of 5 stars)

Snow Leopard Mountain by Suki Selborne: Didn't really enjoy this story as much as the others. Just didn't like the characters and their attitudes. Sawyer was just too cocky and laid back to seem to handle someone like Cadence. Cadence is a workaholic, but I couldn't understand why she would drop out of the academy and give up her dream for an ungrateful relative. (2 out of 5 stars)

Found by Olivia Arran: Claire Kendal is on the run from a deranged coyote shifter who insists she's his mate. But when she succumbs to her injuries, she comes face to face with her true mate Adam Colstone. Alpha Adam Colstone is being pressured to find a mate and produce an heir. On a trip to his secluded cabin he rescues the woman who he's been waiting for. But the coyote alpha isn't just going to sit back and let Claire get away from him. (3 out of 5 stars)

Fifteen wonderful shifter tales for the holiday season.

A Honeybear Christmas by Jacqueline Sweet- The winter witch shows up in town as the Morrissey's are ready to celebrate their holiday. Cute story. They need to stop her before she destroys the town and everyone in it. Spread a little Christmas cheer. Cute story and for fans of the series a wonderful bonus

Bears in Wonderland by Amanda Jones- Loved the story. When Cat is taken away from Patrick and has no memory he will do anything to get her to remember that they are fated mates.

Grizzly Bell Rock by Cynthia Fox- Needing mistletoe, sisters Gracie and Catherine go across the bridge where they were told never to go. Whats the worse that can happen. Meeting two shifters and things start heating up on the search for mistletoe. Hot sexy story

How the Bear Stole Christmas by Claire Ryann- Andi escaping her ex gets the opportunity to run her friends coffee shop . Meeting the man everyone calls “The Grinch” She wonders how he got that name when he is anything but a grinch to her. One of my favorites in this collection. Loved the interaction between the characters.

New Year Wolf by J.K.Harper- Caleb and his mate Rielle bring in the New Year with a new chance. Great short story for lovers of this series by J.K. Harper.

Before the Hunt by J.M. Klaire- Sandra was ready to marry her prince. Anything to keep a roof over her mothers head and food in their mouths. Until she over hears why the prince is marring someone like her. Running away she figures it would be easy to find someone else with the money to keep her family safe. Never thinking she was going to run into Naythan and that sometimes you can have love and security. Of course things aren't that easy.

Bearing The Freeze by Christa Kelley- Gage Weston returns to his home town to try and discover why the weather has changed. Snow and freezing have taken over and no body knows why. Lily's heart was broken when Gage left town. Cute story and just goes to show what can happen with a broken heart and a spell gone wrong.

The Cowbear's Secret by Liv Brywood- Rachel's son is dying and the only way to save him is to finally let the father know he has a son and that he is the only hope left. Touching Christmas story with a second chance at love

The Alpha Warlock Shifter's Gift by Auriella Skye- Danika is being forced to marry to help the clans. Yet she can't get out of her mind that boy she met twelve years earlier. Even though they have never seen each other since she still thinks of him. Running back to that place to think that boy now a man returns. Can they change what the clans have in store for them. Sweet romance. Loved the story, Had a wonderful flow to it for being a short story.

Winter Solstice by Gen Gericault- Clayton never thought to see tail lights that night. Almost running into the car he gets out to check on the driver. When Clementine rolls the window down all he knows h\is his bear roars mine. Clementine a witch never thought to find her beloved on the darkest night of the year. Recognizing what they are to each other doesn't mean things will work out right away.

The Panther's Runaway Surrogate by Alyse Zaftig- Guillermo keeps chasing his surrogate down. Devanta agreed to be a surrogate but as the birth gets closer she keeps running hoping to get away. I have to be honest here. This story made no sense at all to me. Maybe it is part of a series . But I was totally confused by the end.

Bear Naked for Christmas by Edith Hawkes- Katie is heading to Scarfell to spend Christmas with her parents. It is tradition to spend it at the cabin. Meeting the new neighbor Noah didn't go to well. How nasty can you be. Meeting a second time things go much better but when the ex fiancé shows up demanding Katie to return, it is up to Noah to protect her. Loved Katie and Noah, great characters.

Jingle Bell Howl by Misha Carver- Laney is determined to spend Christmas with her friends, not her parents. After a accident where she loses her memory and being rescued by Nate a wolf shifter. Lena ends up in more trouble then just from taking her mothers car. Not to bad of a story. I never really warmed up to Lena. Just seemed like a spoiled princess with no redeeming qualities.

Snow Leopard Mountain by Suki Selborne – Cadence is in Aspen with her boss. While her boss and family might be on vacation. Candence is not. A big cat in the road and her boss being kidnapped. Things are going so well this Christmas holiday. Hot and sexy Sawyer changes all that around. Greta sexy story.

Found by Olivia Arran- Claire is on the run. Being in wolf form allows her to run faster and keeps her from really feeling the cold. Being wounded and having to shift to heal, she ends up unable to shift back and the cold starts doing its damage to her human body. Adam was escaping for a few days from, being pack alpha. Finding Claire unconscious in the snow as soon as he touched her his wolf knew she was his. Now he needs to keep her safe from what she was running from. Such a wonderful story. Excellent flow to the short story.

If you are a lover of shifters, definitely worth taking the time to read. I received a copy of this book in exchanger for an honest review.

I received this collection in exchange for an honest review. This would have received a 5 star rating if not for a couple of stories which let it down.

1 Honeybear Christmas by Jacqueline Sweet
Jacqueline Sweet is one of my favoured authors so I always expect the best from her and as usual she didn't fail/ this was a brilliant story to start the collection.

This is a very different Christmas story with a bad witch who wasn't as bad at the end.

I would encourage every one to get more of Jacqueline's works.

Bears in Wonderland by Amanda Jones.
I kind of liked this story. I felt that the rages the male lead had made him less likeable. I understand why but it just detracted from the enjoyment that I should have had. I still liked it enough to have given it a 4 star if being reviewed on its own merits.

Grizzly Bear Rock by Cynthia Fox

I loved this story, sneaking around behind parents backs whilst making preparations for a wedding. A lovely romance with a happy ending, although the ending was a bit squished. It was almost taking the events of a year into a few paragraphs. to me it was a bit like something was missing from the end.

How The Bear Stole Christmas by Claire Ryann

Again this is a story that I really liked. The written word actually drew a picture in my mind of how Dan appeared initially and that is something that does not often happen. The way the relationship gradually blossomed was lovely and I definitely liked the scene between Dan and the ex. This story deserves a 5 star al on its own.

New Year Wolf by J K Harper

OK so far its 5 out of 5. Yet another story that I loved. Whilst this story could be read on its own the history behind some of it would be easier to understand if you had read any of the previous stories in the series, I must admit that I also lived the little twist in the end.

Before The Hunt by J M Klaire

Again J M Klaire is one of my favourite authors so there were high expectations for this story and again she did not fail.

This is a good story and just the right length. There is a HEA and further books in the series. I would encourage others to read this story and check out her other works.

Bearing The Freeze by Christa Kelley

Whilst I liked this story it wasn't as strong as the previous stories. The characters felt a bit 2-dimensional without anything to really catch your attention or heartstrings. maybe if it had been a bit longer the characters would have been stronger, I don't know, but this story would only have rated a 4 star if reviewed on its own.

The Cowbear's Secret Baby

Yet another story that I liked. I must admit that there was a character I didn't like and it took a little while to like the male character but it is a nice feel good HEA.

The Alpha Warlocks Shifter's Gift by Auriella Skye

This is a short story that is too short. There's not enough character or story development. However I believe that if the story had been developed more it would have probably increased my enjoyment . At the moment I could only, realistically, have given it a 3.5 star review.

Winter Solstice by Gen Gerecault

Officially I hate Cliff Hangers.

This story was brilliant until it came to a much to soon ending. Now I'm going to have to find the next in the series to see what happens when I can afford it that is. At the moment getting ARCs is the only way that I can afford to get new books.

The Panther's Runaway Surrogate by Alyse Zafteg

I loved the way that this story was written, almost in shorthand. By that I mean using one sentence where another writer would have used a paragraph. I also really liked the ending.

Bear Naked For Christmas by Edith Hawkes

Another book in this collection that I like. Again it's a nice story with a HEA.

Jingle Bell Howl by Misha Carver

This is the first story that I didn't like. None of the characters had any real feeling to them. The storyline could have been good but it just didn't deliver.

Snow Leopard Mountain by Suki Selborne

I liked this story. There was almost too much going on. This could possibly have been made into a longer book, but as it is it's a great read.

Found by Olivia Arran

Last but not least. This is a story that I really enjoyed. Good storyline and good characters.

On a whole this collection has many great reads. There are a couple of stories that were not up to the same standards as most of the stories, this is in my opinion. This is something that is very likely to happen in such collections. Some of the stories that I didn't like as much may have been the favourites for another reader. Not everyone likes the same things. That being said, I am sure that there are many stories in this collection that will give a lot of enjoyment to its readers.

Shifters in the Snow
Love the anthologies and the stories and some authors in this one were totally new for me. Again, a lot of good stories and a bonus. Always find one or two stories that I was willing to put my hands on because it’s another book in a series that I’m reading. Never let me down. Almost finished all of them and still enjoying the plots. The authors are gifting us. The Better hurry and got this one because bargain don’t last forever. And all around Christmas season so you’ll be in the mood for celebration. This stories had suspense, intrigue, lot of steamy sex and love, some had positive messages with emotion and some made me laugh a lot. Received the ARC for an honest review.
A HoneyBear Christmas by Jacqueline Sweet
Mina was going to The Great Morrissey Brothers Cook-Off with her husband Matt and she was terrified. The family had a cook contest and they were encouraged to cheat and sabotage the others. While cooking the food people began to disappear and they didn’t know what was happening. Funny, entertaining and hot story with some characters we already knew and some new. Also, there was hot sex with a strange and lusty character.
Bears in Wonderland by Amanda Jones
Patrick, the alpha of the clan was out of himself because Cat had been taken for nearly a year. But now he knew the truth and he was going to get her back. Intriguing and interesting story were true love conquers all. I was moved for Patrick and he wooed his wife.
Grizzly Bell Rock by Cynthia Fox
Very funny and sweet story about two sisters, Gracie and Catherine, who went to a shifter town looking for mistletoe for her baby sister wedding and met two sexy shifters, Truman and Joshua. These two sisters were horny and ready to mate in a very amusing way. They wanted to call the shots. Good characters and dialogs.
How the Bear Stole Christmas by Claire Ryann
Andi was waiting that her cheating fiancée asked forgiveness but instead found love with a burly shifter. Bear with doubts but love wins again making the truth surface. Entertaining, story with sweet emotions and some suspense.
New Year Wolf by J.K. Harper
Caleb Bardou had a second chance to get back his Pack Guardian status. His mistakes had cost him too much. He didn’t trust and much less his enemy. Could he make the right decision? Different, interesting story with a positive message. Sure there must be a story for the enemy. Hope so because there was some mystery for that character.
Before the Hunt by J.M. Klaire
Sandra desire for her and her mother been taken care of almost took her by the wrong way. Glad I got this book because I already read about Bane and Mac and Naythan and Sandra were the first mate pair. The story was complete, different and amusing with a message of sacrifice and love. Tyççmm
Bearing the Freeze by Christa Kelly
Lily was hurt and cursed by her own doing and it was affecting the town and everything in it. Gage the Paranormal fixer was the reason of her mistake. He had hurt so badly. Now he was back and needed to mend a broken heart. The story remembered me a fairy tale of a snow witch.
The Cowbear’s Secret Christmas Baby by Liv Brywood
Rachel Stevenson was desperate. Her son, Jimmy, was dying and the only person who could help him, his father, didn’t know about him. Both were hurt but needed to forgive and come together for their son’s life. Emotive story with suspense. Liked the development of the story. Seems the brother will have his own story next.

The Alpha Warlock Shifter’s Gift (an Alpha Warlock of Kala West Short) by Auriella Skye
Danika, she-wolf, met her future mate while a child. She saved him and met again when they were adults. Blaine was a half-wolf warlock shunned by the warlocks for his tainted blood. When they were adult they met again and helped each other to fulfill their destiny. Short story where true love has its ways.
Winter Solstice by Gen Géricault
Clayton After and his brothers were cursed to sleep almost all the year. Each one had a different season to be awake. Finding their true mate was the way to broke the curse but time was running. Clementine Weatherspoon was trying to make right her father’s wrongs but Fate was making things hard for her. Interesting prequel to a new series about cursed bears. We have to buy the first book to know what happened with Clayton and Clementine.
The Panther’s Runaway Surrogate by Alyse Zaftig
Regretting being a surrogate to a rich man, Devanta tried to escape with her baby. But he had money and resources so it wasn’t easy for her. Would Guillermo Torres change his mind and let her keep the baby? Entertaining short story with a HEA.

SHIFTACULAR COLLECTION!!! 5 GOLD SHIFTERS

I have only read 2 of the stories in here so far, but WOW! They were FANGTASTIC! And take a look at all of those SHIFTASTIC authors in here! You CANNOT go wrong with this set! I cannot wait to work my wait through all of the stories!! There are actually a few authors in here that I have yet to have had the privilege of reading their stories, so this is the PAWFECT opportunity to do just that! You can NEVER have enough heroes, right?!!

How the Bear Stole Christmas (Sierra Moon Shifters series) by Claire Ryann

Silver Peak's best kept secret. 5 GOLD PAWS

Paul Bunyon was standing in the doorway. I'm tellin ya, our Grinchie is sweet on you, missy! OH MY GOODNESS! Never mind “How the Bear Stole Christmas”! He stole my HEART! WHAT A PAWFECTLY SWEET TAIL!! sniff sniff It's so beautiful, funny, mysterious, a little sad but a LOT PAWESOME!! Andi is a great gal, but I did want to smack her a couple of times to knock some sense into her! Jen is one sweet lady and I would love to see her get her Happily Ever After too! (hint hint Claire. :) ) As for the Grinch? WOW! He's hot enough to melt the screen! I just loved the whole atmosphere that this story has going on! Happy, loving, joyful, friendly, magical, hot, which is more than enough to forget the jerk and subsequent bad parts that follow because of him. This is ABSO-FURRY-LUTELY A PAWFECT, GRRRREAT and SHIFTACULAR addition to this series, as well as BEARY PAWFECT Christmas story! I loved how this story is almost a companion to Lion in Wait (book 4), with Andi staying at Becka's place and Dan's brother being the Forest Ranger. Besides that being a feature that I love with a series, it was also cool & unexpected making the story even more endearing to me! There is no CLAWS for concern though, because you do not have to have read that story first, although, why wouldn’t you? :) Claire has me so addicted to her Sierra Moon Shifters that I get all tingly when there is a new story to read! Okay, truthfully? I get that way with ANY book of hers! She has this magical way of crafting stories that seem so real, characters that could be her or me, storylines that are hot, sweet, hopeful, beyond entertaining, but above all they are the dreamy kind of books that make you all warm, cozy & fuzzy inside & out! And making me pant along the way? Well that is just the yummy icing on the cake full of Shifters & love! Claire's FURNOMENAL talent shines through in every story, shining brighter & brighter with every new release as her growth as an author has me drooling, loving & craving more books to read!! I actually 'discovered' her soon after she released her first book, with the first book in this series being the first I read. It was a serial (which I detest! ;) ) but I LOVED it so much, so I now eagerly devour every book she writes, as quick as I can, usually more than once because they are THAT FANGTASTIC!!! All in all - this is one FURRIFIC, magical, loving & heartwarming Christmas story that you need to read!!

New Year Wolf (Black Mesa Wolves) by J.K. Harper

Happy New Year, wolf. 5 GOLD SNOWFLAKES

He was the luckiest wolf on the planet. No question. Her mate was one heck of a wolf, and she was darned lucky to have him. WOOOOF! What a HOWLING GRRRREAT story! I was beyond thrilled when I started reading this & discovered it starred Caleb & Rielle!! They are definitely a couple that I cannot get enough of and I think that out of all of the wolves I have met & loved already, none are more deserving of getting the 'New Year - New You' kind of story. And what a helluva story it is, but that ending? WOW!! I can't wait to see where the series goes from here!! Speaking of which, I ABSO-FURRY-LUTELY LOVE this series! I also love how J.K. gives the Wolf its own personality, or WOLFALITY as the case may be! The communication between wolf & human is hilarious!! Because they don't think, feel or behave in the same ways, and are always lurking in the background, so to speak, the comments that each side think/say make the story that much more enriched & entertaining! For example - While in wolf form, on a romp through the snow - "Damn it, Caleb's human muttered again. Got something in my eye. Caleb huffed to himself at that. Wolves never cried. Humans were odd." That is actually one of my favorite parts of shifter stories but no one does it as PAWFECTLY as J.K.!! She is one exceptionally talented author who creates these PAWMAZING worlds for me to live & play in both with and AS her characters, which in turn takes a 'simple' reading experience to a whole new, incomparable & WOLFTACULAR level!!!

This was a special - $1.06 for 15 paranormal short shifter stories. I'll try & review a couple at a time.

Jacqueline Sweet - 4 stars. This is a cute Christmas story set in an established series. Christmas is actually part of this story. The town of Bearfield,CA is threatened by a winter witch, intent on stealing the warmth from it's citizens. There are Bear shifters in this one. I enjoyed it!

Amanda Jones - 3 stars. Very short & sad. Bear shifter, Cat has had her memory wiped & is a stripper. Her mate, Patrick has been looking for her for a year, when the Bear Council tells him they are the ones who sent her away. During this time, Cat has endured a lot of abuse. Christmas has nothing to do with this story.

Cynthia Fox - 3 stars. Another very short story about 2 sisters looking for mistletoe for their sister's wedding. They find 2 too good to be true bear shifters.

Claire Ryann - 4 stars. Bear shifter story. I liked this one a lot. Andi leaves her cheating fiancé & starts over in a small mountain town. Dan (the Grinch) becomes interested in her.

J.K. Harper - 3 stars. Wolf shifter story. Part of an established series. Not especially interesting. Christmas plays no part in this one.

J.M. Klaire - 3 stars. Part of an established series. This is an odd little story about a poor farmer's daughter & a wolf shifter who works security for a King. Sandra is about to marry a prince, when she finds out he's using her & is really poor. She runs off with a caravan & meets Naythan, who recognizes her as his true mate. Trouble is, he doesn't want a mate. Contemporary language & hand gestures make this an odd read. Christmas has no part in this story.

Christa Kelley - 4 stars. This is a good, but very short Christmas story about a successful polar bear shifter who comes back to his hometown to solve a mystery. It seems the girl he left behind 10 years ago is responsible for the wild winter weather the town is experiencing.

Liv Brywood - 5 stars. Winner of the most awesome title in this anthology : The CowBear's Secret Christmas Baby!!! Shades of Harlequin romances, this was a great read with high drama in every chapter. Actually the "baby" is 4 years old, but why quibble? The good news is that Brady has FIVE other bear shifter brothers that live with him on his ranch. Yum!

Auriella Skye - 3 stars. Too short to be really good. Part of an established series.

Gen Gericault - 5 stars. This is a prequel to a series of cursed bearshifters. 4 brothers who are cursed with only being awake for 1 season. Clayton's is winter. He's taken aback when he finds his true mate is a witch. Definitely going to check out the first in the series!

Alyse Zaftig - 1 star. Very poorly written. Clunky dialogue & misspelled words. Dumb story. The part where he has sex with her less than 24 hours after she gives birth is just disgusting.

Edith Hawkes - 4 stars. Bear shifter story. Moves pretty fast, but still good.

Misha Carver - 1 star. Terrible writing. This is the old "stranded in a remote cabin" trope. Add some hit man bear shifters who are total wusses , a female lead who's TSTL & you have a crapfest. Also, I hope I never have to read a description of a vagina as an "alcove". WTH?

Suki Selborne - 4 stars. Snow leopard shifter finds his mate in a PA for a rich vacationer in Aspen for the holidays. Then, her boss is kidnapped. Part of an established series. Not bad.

Olivia Arran - 4 Stars. A female wolf shifter, on the run from coyote shifters finds her true mate.

So, except for 2 clunkers, this is a good anthology of Holiday shifter stories.

This collection of fifteen winter/Christmas themed novellas definitely puts the shifters in their season. There are a few wolves, a panther and a snow leopard, but mostly these shifters are bears, mainly grizzlies but there’s also a polar bear added to the mix to keep things interesting. If you love your paranormal romance with fur and claws, then there’s a chance you’ll find something to enjoy here. Or if you’re a fan of any of these authors and existing series.

Personally, this is the first time I’ve encountered any of them and although shifters are usually my favourite paranormal romances, I have to admit that I did get a bit of shifter fatigue towards the end of this collection. Then again, fifteen stories all at once is probably a bit much for anyone. So here’s a breakdown of the ones I remember best.

The Good: Honeybear Christmas was obviously part of a series, using established characters. However, I found the story really intriguing and the characters fun, even if the menage felt a bit unnecessary, coming out of nowhere as it did.

How the Bear Stole Christmas was my favourite of the whole lot. The story is cute and quiet grizzly Dan was just adorable.

Bearing the Freeze was an intriguing second chance romance and I loved that the hero was a polar bear.

The Cowbear’s Secret Christmas Baby had a familiar, well worn story that I often encounter in contemporary romances, but I still enjoyed it and even got a bit sniffly at times.

I also enjoyed New Year Wolf and The Alpha Warlock Shifter’s Gift, but since they’re both only small parts of bigger things they felt a little incomplete. Treat them as appetisers and they may succeed in bringing you back for more.

The Bad: Bears in Wonderland was uncomfortable – I know why he was the way he was, but essentially he was stalking her and pushing too hard for what he wanted. It was not the least bit romantic and those councillors need to die.

The Panther’s Runaway Surrogate really irritated me. Does Devanta not understand what a surrogate is supposed to be? Clearly not since she keeps running off with the baby and argues over his name. Not your child! As for the whole two years before she knows about the shifting… stupid.

Jingle Bell Howl put me off on the very first page. Laney is a brat, her father is useless and I didn’t care in the least what happened to any of them.

The Others: My reaction to the other six stories ranged from okay to a bit dull, or just nice enough without any really memorable points. Which is kind of my overall feeling for this collection. It’s okay.

If you’re a huge shifter fan, or a fan of any of these authors, then this is probably just what you’re looking for. If you’re more of an occasional visitor to the paranormal romance genre (like me) there might not be enough here for you. On the whole I found the stories okay, with a few I really didn’t like and a couple I definitely did, but overall there wasn’t anything here that I found overly memorable or from a world I wanted to know more about. A nice distraction on long, cold nights, but there wasn’t anything here to bring me back for more.

Shifters in the Snow by Various Authors

A box set of fifteen shifter stories, set in the holiday season. I managed to read some but not all and those are added below:

GRIZZLY BELL ROCK by Cynthia Fox
-This was a really sweet story. It's about two sisters who visit their family for Christmas and their baby sisters wedding. They go looking for mistletoe and meet two handsome shifters who help them. They go against their father's wishes but prove that sometimes things aren't always as they seem.

HOW THE BEAR STOLE CHRISTMAS by Claire Ryann
-When an opportunity to run a friend's coffee shop for the winter season lands Andi in the path of the surly man that the locals call "the Grinch". But as he starts to hangout at the coffee shop, Andi starts to warm up to him. Then he helps her and they start to see each other more. Until he decides it's not a hood ifea too see each other any more and Andi's ex turns up. Will Dan realise his mistake in time or will Andi give her ex another chance.
Fantastic story. I loved it. The storyline was enjoyable and I loved the characters. Daniel was just the sweetest guy, I loved his transformation from gruff Grinch to sweet and protective Dan. It was a nice easy read and I loved it

BEARING THE FREEZE by Christa Kelley
-Gage Weston is a Paranormal Problem Solver and has come back to Ridgely, to try and figure out the reason for the extreme weather change. Lily Tisdale has been the cause of the change in weather in Ridgely. A spell was cast by a heartbroken girl who just didn’t want to feel pain anymore. Seeing each other brings back past memories and lots of hurt. They will have to work side by side to deal with the spell, the pieces must be put back together. This was a awesome read, I loved it. It was a very entertaining read that kept me engrossed in the story. The characters were just lovely and I felt so sorry for them, my heart just broke. Quiet an emotional read. It is as an amazing book and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

THE COWBEAR'S SECRET CHRISTMAS BABY by Liv Brywood
-This is the story about two people were hurt by each other, through lies and misunderstandings. Now years later truths must be told and forgiveness must be given, to come together to save a life of someone special. This story was a really sweet story, quiet emotional at times. I loved the storyline and the characters. I have a few issues with the priority of the child but still enjoyable.

THE PANTHER'S RUNAWAY SURROGATE by Alyse Zaftig
-Guillermo is rich, powerful, and a shifter. He wants a baby, so he has Devanta sign a contract to be a surrogate mother. She runs away from him twice. He has to find a way to keep them both with him, always. I loved the concept of this story but it has alot of issues. The storyline was underdeveloped, the characters were abrupt and lacked depth. The editing was really bad and the grammar was appalling. Such a pity because it had so much potential!

REVIEW
This book is filled with tons of short stories revolving around shifters of various being and finding their mates. We get Wolf shifters, Bears galore and Humans. I am leaving review for three of the stories.

A Honey Bear Christmas by Jacqeuline Sweet

Matt is a bear shifter and his mate Mina are heading to the oldest brothers home for a Christmas get together. There will be bear shifters along with wolf shifters at the gathering so tons of food is a must. The brothers always making the cooking a challenge of sorts and Mina so is not interested.
Well something is going on and bears are going missing. March and the men are off to find out what is going on.
This was a cute short story although it needs more editing. I enjoyed though as we get a bit of everything from humans to shifters and more.

Bears In Wonderland by Amanda Jones

In this story we have a council who is determined to get their Alpha on the right track whether he wants to be Alpha or not and in order to get him to come around they take his Mate of all things. This was a really nice short romantic story. I enjoyed it.

Grizzly Bear Rock by Cythia Fox

Totally loved this story. We have three sisters well the youngest is getting married and it's up to the two older ones to make sure she has the mistletoe she requested as part of the ceremony and reception. Well the two older sisters decide to cross the bridge which is a place that they have only heard horror stories about. Their father would be horrified to learn they went there. While there they both meet two brothers who are bear shifters. Well perhaps there will be a triple wedding if only their father would open his heart instead of believing the lies told about the cute little town across the bridge.

How the Bear Stole Christmas by Claire Ryann

Andi has gone to work at friends coffee shop to get away after her no good boyfriend basically called her fat and let it be known he was cheating.
While there Andi meets a big man who at first rarely talks. But that burly man shows Andi how a woman should be treated and makes sure the dead beat ex stays that. I really enjoyed this story. Dan is a rare bear shifter and has to keep himself hidden for the most part but will Andi want that kind of life?
