The year is 2100. Wise people marry by registering with Bioexpa Data Match. The matchmaking company has such a near perfect record that choosing your own mate is now considered tantamount to marrying a blood relative.
Haven Thomas is a beautiful, curvy, confident woman. She's immediately attracted to her gorgeous blond, husband. But her hopes for a happy union are dashed when she realizes that her new husband thinks she's fat. She has no choice but to go through the thirty-day probation period, but after that, she plans to walk away.
Scott Fields owns a restaurant that serves healthy food and is part owner of a gym. Finding himself married to a curvy woman could prove to be a promotional nightmare unless he finds a way to spin it. Then he meets Haven. It doesn't take him long to decide that she's perfect as she is. Now he just has to convince Haven to give him a second chance.
Picked this up because I was intrigued by its premise: a slightly future world in which people are matched (and immediately married!) to their "soul mate" by a social media company, with this book focusing on a gym and restaurant-owning former male model who gets matched to a zaftig woman. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of romance here, or even liking, between our two protagonists. Haven, who is chocolate-skinned, is immediately offended when she realizes that she's not white Scott's usual type, and puts off having sex with him even though she finds him attractive. She doesn't tell him her reasons for this, of course, because then they could have had a conversation and worked things out. So most of the book is basically Scott pressing for sex, Haven giving in a bit then turning him down, and then lots of annoying snipping back and forth. Scott is bossy and domineering and whiny, Haven's unforgiving and insecure, and the sex scenes are flatter than a pancake. I couldn't see any reason why these two would make for good roommates, never mind soul mates...
Haven and Scott made such a good couple. I really enjoyed watching them grow as a couple. Haven was hurt during their first meeting, and held on to it for awhile. It got quite annoying though. Scott judged Haven before he met her and that almost costed him his marriage. He had to work extra hard for Haven's forgiveness. Very entertaining book. Really enjoying this series.
Another great read. I love this series. Scott has the patience of a saint cause my girl Haven is super annoying. The man has gone out of his way to show his love and she still won't forgive him for being initially disappointed in her larger frame. 4 stars from me
The book is well written and edited. But these main characters were beyond silly and immature. I am so.over people confusing list and love. How are you calling in love with someone who doesn't speak to you and you know nothing about? So he doesn't like her body but because she is pretty he accepts her and that makes him less shallow? I understand that there needs to be some physical attraction but don't play it off as though one is ok when the other one isn't. One can change their body but it is a lot harder to change the face.....lol. Anyhow I don't think that I will be reading anymore of this series. Upset with myself now that I bought two in this series. Oh well, lesson learned.
Haven and Scott have been united thru Bioexpa. Scott is a successful fitness operator, unfortunately for him Haven is a plus size woman. He hatched a plan to use Haven figure to promote his business. Haven discovers the plan and is hurt by it. Scott has to make it up to Haven before their marriage fails. Good read
A wonderful story that showed the development of the h/H’s love. This story took you on a smooth up and down ride of emotions. I enjoyed both MCs immensely and the secondary characters were great as well. Of the Bioexpa stories, this may have been my favorite mainly because I love a good grovel! Lol!
There are some clear typos, but nothing too distracting. It does avoid some romance cliches. Though the female character is Black, sometimes she doesn't read that way. It's not bad though. I would definitely read more from this author.
I enjoyed this story. At first, they both irritated me because they spoke upon their problems to everyone but each other. As they began to talk out their problems with their therapist, it became a great read.
Oh yeah love this series. The characters are well developed and just so resonates, great storytelling and the pages turn themselves. Love this author's books.
Thayer King is quickly becoming a favourite author of mine. The reason for 3 stars? I wish the book was longer. I loved both Haven and Scott, he because he realised very quickly that he had acted like an ass. He realised first appearances wasn't everything ,and that everything about Haven was smart and sexy and worth getting to know better. But I also loved that Haven stood her ground and didn't just drop her pants becasue he was a stud. She had him work for it. Please Ms king I love the series but please make the stories a little longer.
I enjoyed reading this book. I thought the characters could have been developed a little more and that a little more information about the matching service should have been added. As a BBW, I understand the hurt and pain that Haven felt. However, I'm glad that Scott finally realize that Haven was perfect as she was. Love can find you in unexpected packages.
This is a cute, sexy story. The protagonists played well off each other and there was good build-up and discussion of their issues before the HEA. Another good entry from Thayer King in this series. I can't wait for book 4.
This just gets better with each story I was really into this one my favorite actually how love can go beyond what you see or what is perceived as the correct look please keep them coming!!!
This story is pretty good in my opinion..... But then I have come to love this authors work. Don't think too hard you are here for some entertainment and escapism.... Roll with it
Great Read! Scott and Haven's story was so hot and sexy. I recommend this entire series. Each book gave me everything I needed for a great read. Held my attention from beginning to end.
Cute story, Scott and Haven were an odd couple, but it worked. the story was good and I liked the characters, this series is starting to grow on me, I will continue with it.
This is the second time I read this book which means it was good I thought I gave a review b4 but I guess I didnt so I'll do it now it was a good read even after reading it twice
I love all of Thayer's books especially the Bioexpa series. I was not disappointed with Haven & Scott's story no surprise there. Thayer has a fan for life.
