"The Holy Spirit is the One who abides in you and will never leave you. He is a person who is also your guide, your helper, and your aid. He leads you in truth. It is He who will give you revelation that will bring you through, make you win, and cause you to be triumphant. The Holy Spirit works in you, speaks to you, deals with you, and communes with you." (Marilyn Hickey, He Will Give Another Helper)

This book deals with the Person of the Holy Spirit. His infilling, baptism, fruit and gifts. It then expounds upon the book of Acts, and how the Holy Spirit worked with the early apostles and disciples of Jesus Christ. A great majority of the book covered the work of the Holy Spirit in the Apostle Paul's ministry to the Gentiles (those that were not Jews).

It is incomplete however in its list of gifts; it only expounds upon on 9 gifts of the Spirit in total. An excerpt from the book on the gifts of the Spirit says, "These gifts have great purposes. They manifest the power of God, help carry out the great commission of Jesus, edify and perfect the Church, and bring deliverance to God's people. They are easily broken down into categories. There are three spoken gifts: prophecy, diverse tongues, and the interpretation of tongues; three revelation gifts: the word of knowledge, the word of wisdom, and discerning of spirits; and three power gifts: faith, working of miracles, and the gifts of healing. The gifts are given as the Spirit wills." As you can see this book only covers a limited amount of the gifts of the Spirit. I am not sure why? The most comprehensive books I have read so far on the gifts of the Spirit are C. Peter Wagners': Discover Your Spiritual Gifts: The Easy-To-Use, Self-Guided Questionnaire That Helps You Identify and Understand Your Various God-Given Spiritual Gifts and Your Spiritual Gifts Can Help Your Church Grow.

One of the greatest insights I gained from this book was about how we have been clothed with power on high by receiving the Holy Spirit. The context of her teaching is Luke 24:49 (King James Version) in which Jesus says to His disciples:

"And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.”

She then says, "Now endued means "clothed." Jesus wants to clothe us in the Spirit. In the natural, what you put on affects what you look like. Likewise, when we are clothed spiritually in the Holy Spirit, we begin to look like-and act like-the Holy Spirit."

Many great insights in this book on the person of the Holy Spirit, our Helper, and His role in our lives as believers.
