June 19, 2014This is a very good indepth account of the First Kentuckey Cavalry from the beginning to end of the Civil War. It follows the forming, training, fighting and mustering out of one of the toughest and most respected Cavalry units of the Civil War. Highly respected by both sides and feared by the Confederates.
Sgt Terrant was not only the writer of the story but lived it. As a soldier in the unit assinged as a administrative clerk he was found fighting alongside the men on the front.
Follow him as he tells the grit of battle; the often comical exploits of caturing and being captured and escape.
It gives you an indepth and personnal account of Col. Wolford, Gen"s. Sherman, Burnsides and Confederate Gen. Johnson.
First hand accounts of the Battles of Wild Cat, Chickamauga, Atlanta and others.
For the Civil War buff this is a MUST READ.
