Belinda Page is a single mom to a brilliant four-year-old. She's at her wits end trying to keep up with the little genius. While they are out playing Belinda's daughter throws herself into the lake to save a furry white puppy. A man saves both the child and the dog but when Lindy finds out he is one of the much hated Carltons she's furious. After all, she was at a Carlton party when she was drugged and raped and left pregnant with a child to raise on her own. Only it isn't quite the whole truth.
It was frustrating that the heroine refused to take any responsibility for her one adventure into sex. She was so certain she was drugged and raped against her will, absolutely positive though she had no memory. She remembers another girl getting her a drink but has no clue she was the one likely to have drugged her. She also has no memory that she was the aggressor and came onto the hero.
Dr. Reed Carlton is an introvert who is uncomfortable around most people. He can't believe it's Lindy, a girl from his past and a fond memory that has haunted him for more than four years. After all, he had searched for her a good while and the memory of her kept him from becoming seriously involved with other women not that he didn't have hookups.
She was not a nice or kind person and very rigid in her views. Not likable at all.
Our Dr. Reed Carlton didn't use a condom that night and I thought that was a horrific oversight since he had medical knowledge of what could happen. So four-five years later when they meet again they are intimate again and once again neither one thought to use protection. Of course she wants to put all the blame on him.
Due to previous events, Lindy had bad feelings for the Caldwells. She had a five year old daughter named Holly. Holly and her mother went to the park and Holly saw a puppy fall into the water .She went to help. Dr. Caldwell saw that the child was in trouble and went in to save both of them. Lindy saw what happen and rushed down to the water. They meet and she wanted to know the details about the night that happen years. This is a good book.
I was loving this book. From the heart stopping rescue all the way to the rather abrupt end. Really? Not even an epilogue? Just an announcement, a hug, and no more words. Were we on a word limit or something? Other than the unsatisfying non-ending, a nice, sigh worthy bedtime story.
Re-read - I have now read the other stories in the series. We get peeks at where they are now. The books are intertwined. Nice.
Please Keep Me is such a tender, emotional story. Short in size but packed with a lovely romance, a misunderstanding of the facts, and one precious pup, one adorable little girl, and one sweet older lady who you will wish was a relative of yours. Combine them all together and you have one very special Christmas season novella.
Because this is a short, fast story I’ll let the cover description give you the basics. What I can say is very simple – I loved this story, there were tears of frustration and of happiness. Reed is such a sweetheart, Lindy is a determined, loyal mother who only wants the best for her near genius daughter — in the end what is best for them all is the major decision that Lindy has to make. Nothing puts me in a good mood more than a precious, adorable puppy and Cloud stole every single scene she was in. I can’t wait to see what happened to her brothers… you’ll want to know, too. I had fun, I enjoyed the characters and I would definitely recommend Please Keep Me. Now, I’m off to pick up the next story so I can dive right in to Snow Pup.

I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming story from beginning to end. As a single mom with a very precocious, bright daughter, Lindy is working two jobs and barely getting by. She dearly loves her four year old daughter, Hollie, and is saving every penny she can to get her into a pre-school where she can be challenged and not bored like she is in her present pre-school. They go to the park and Hollie jumps in the lake to save a puppy and a man rescues them. He pretends the puppy is his when Lindy tells Hollie she can't keep her. Promising to meet them on weekends in the park so Hollie can play with the puppy, he becomes an important person in their lives. This story is full of love and has a very happy ending.
Short but Sweet! This short story may be short, but it is long on love and heartwarming! It's a perfect little book to pick you up if you are feeling down, or just plain perfect for the cold weather and Christmas Season. I love the little dog being at the center of this story, along with a highly intelligent little girl of about 4 or 5 years old. Mimi Barbour has put just enough passion and love and humor into it to make it a heart-warming story that will lift you up and make you glad that you read it. No matter how short the book, it's worth 5 stars to me. Well written Mimi, and thank you!
Belinda is searching for her daughter when she hears her scream. Running in the direction of the scream she sees her daughter in the water. A man has gotten to her and is bringing her to safety. Reed saw the little girl fall into the water trying to save the puppy. Luckly he saved them both. When he sees her mother, he remembers the wonderful night they spend together 5 years ago. Will she remember him? Well written story with strong characters. Gave it only 4 stars because is was a little to short. Ending should have been developed some more. joy943
Indy holly reed and cloud Who can resist the smart beyond her years Holly? Certainly not a local surgeon who is convinced they met before. Belinda memories. If the night Holly was conceived were such painful ones. A you n pup named Cloud and Holly are determined to be together no matter what the adults thought. A fun whimsical sometimes sad but mostly joyous story that embodies the spirit of Christmas. My favourite writer has done it again...another book I couldn't put down til I finished it.
An amazing and heart-warming tale of how a lost puppy changes so many lives. The five-year-old Hollie, her mom Belinda and a lost lover Reed. The author weaves her magic to bring everyone together as the puppy, named Cloud by Hollie, brings out the best in everyone. There are tender moments, stressful moments as Belinda relives what she thought was a nightmare, and passionate moments as an old flame is rekindled. I loved this story so much I didn't want it to end!
It's such a cute book to read short but so Special
I love the characters in the story they seem so real some having troubles some not having troubles but each in their own way I love the characters in the story they seem so real some having troubles some not having troubles but each in their own way having insecurities. I like the plot of the book Finding true love is always special. It was just long enough during the holidays for me to enjoy it and get to bed early.
This is such a wonderful story about love found. It is also a story of betrayal but not from the usual suspects. Big party, Ecstasy, pregnancy, and finally the truth and love.
This series is starting out great. Quick read with an HEA that you won't be able to put down until the end. I love the way one rambunctious puppy draws a mother and daughter together with the man/daddy of their dreams.
This was a good short story. Everything you could want in a Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation with tons of commercials, but not to pay for as a book. Very disappointed, these very short stories are even sold as books.
A heartwarming Christmas story. Reed had never forgot Lindy. Lindy doesn't remember that night but she has Holly to remember it by. Throw in a puppy named Cloud and life comes full circle.
This is a really enjoyable love story.I couldn't put this one down,I laughed until there were tears in my eyes, then I laughed some more.I'm looking forward to reading the next books in this series.
Who can resist a little girl who is too smart for her own good, and a stray puppy who instantly become attached? Not me! Not to mention her mother and a "stranger" who is there when the girl and puppy meet.
A wonderful holiday quick read that I read in one sitting.
Please keep me: it was such a sweet romance. I loved how Reed reconnect with the love of his life. It was a challenge for him. It was the happiest he has ever been with someone. Great writing and story tell.
Who doesn't love a homeless pup and romantic well-developed characters and a couple of cute kids? Loved the four books! Great story telling! Read all three in a day, just didn't want to leave their world!
Belinda loves her precocious four year old Hollie, even though she believes she was drugged and raped. She doesn't remember much of what happened at the party at the Carlton home five years ago, but her black out had consequences that changed her life. She would hate the man who caused the events forever. There was no excuse for such behaviour in her book.
Reed is a successful surgeon today, but he's never been able to get over the one night stand he had five years ago. He's been comparing all his current partners to that sweet, innocent and sexy Lindy. Little does he realize when he jumps into a lake to rescue a pup and a baby that he's going to see her again.
But she doesn't seem to recognize him. He can make out that she's treating him as a total stranger. What he can;t figure out is why? Does she really have no idea who he is, or is she trying to hide a deeper secret?
This warm and fuzzy Christmas story will put you in the mood for the Holidays. Snuggle up in a soft blanket, get a hot drink of choice and enjoy.
Holly falls in the water trying to save " her puppy." Reed rescues them both and seeing that Lindy , Holly's mom is financially unable to keep the puppy agrees to keep it for them. Reed recognizes Lindy as the girl he fell in love with years ago while he was in college. Lindy recognizes Reed as the man who rapped her and tore her world apart. Can Holly and a puppy named cloud perform a Christmas miracle to heal old wounds and misunderstandings ?
I was given an arc of this book in return for an honest review. Honestly, this book is so worth the time spent reading.
