An excellent start to the Tangled Web series, the story has intrigue, appealing characters, subtle twists, romance and loss. You are pulled into the book right from the beginning by likeable characters and an interesting story that manages to retain some elements of mystery. Rylen, a warlock shifter, leads the PNW arm of the Web (a criminal organization run by the Black Widow). He is very protective of his "family," especially Gracy, the young Oracle in his band of supernatural criminals. Romance and sexual feelings simmer when his enemy's daughter, Alana, seeks him out and discovers she may have more in common with Rylan and his band of paranormals than with her normality alliance family. Rylan must manage to out smart both the Widow's and the Alliance's scheming to be able to retain control of his section of the Web and keep his mate and "family" safe.

I given this book by the author. I read the description and found it interesting. There a thing about give to much detail and to little. To much on what the others were wearing for going out to the bar, or the main character Ryland thought a other character had rock hard abs. I would have been ok if the he was gay, but he wasn't. I just found that was weird thing to say.

I could skip paragraphs and sometimes pages and still understand what was happening in the book. The story itself was good. I just didn't need the extra details.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. Ms. Wylie has certainly started the series off with a bang! I will most certainly be looking for the 2nd book in The Tangled Web Series. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Rylen is a shapeshifter and has a lot of magic at his disposal. He runs a team of other magic users and shapeshifters that protect the magic users and paranormals of the Northwest in Seattle. They work for the Black Widow, who is very creepy, but then spiders usually are. Rylen and his team are fighting against The Fairfax Alliance which think all magic is evil. They are trying to rid the world of magic users and anyone that isn't 100% human. The Alliance also has its own dirty secrets which some are revealed in the first book. All in all it was a great read and a wonderful start to a new series.

Really looking forward to seeing where Ms. Wylie takes us on this journey.

This was an exciting and fun book to read. I like how many things unfolded slowly, it wasn’t rushed yet wasn’t too slow. The pacing of the story is perfectly steady. There were some unexpected turns and some things were pretty obvious but still great to watch everything develop. I love all the characters! I can’t even say how excited I am that there will be more. Some of the characters are more developed than other but I believe that will come along in the series, such as Gracie’s character. Stories with an ensemble cast are my favorite because there is opportunity to take it in a million different ways. I truly think the Tangled Web series is one that can be enjoyed by everyone (18 and up because there is some sex in there)!

Rylen is a warlock shifter that leads a team/family of supernatural people. A small girl arrived on his doorstep years ago claiming to be an Oracle. Magic users are disappearing and then there is the the girl that keeps popping up around him.

Rylen and his team are going to need all their talents when one of their own is taken. If that wasn't enough, he also finds his mate and someone he thought long dead maybe isn't so dead after all.

I loved this book and all the characters in it, especially the inner circle. I can't wait for the next one to find out what is going on everyone.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Although I really enjoyed this book there was a let of things repeated. The storyline is great and the writing keeps excitement and intrigue that keeps you turning the page to see what's next. Lots of plot twists and new information and a wide range of supporting characters the writer keeps you invested in their wellbeing. Can't wait to see more in the series.

Un livre sans intérêt...
Il y a beaucoup de descriptions inutiles. C'est comme si quelqu'un racontait un film qu'il voit mais ne s'en tenait qu'aux faits. Par exemple, un personnage porte un habit Armani. Si l'auteure avait dit ce personnage parte un habit Armani pour se donner du courage, ce serait une description utile, ou il porte ce genre de costume parce qu'il croit être un homme à qui on doit le respect.
Cette histoire est juste platonique, du début à la fin.

Wow I hate giving low rates, however there was not enough story and to much detail about the clothing, shoes, makeup...ect. I understand that character building is important but don't hit the readers over the head with every small detail that has absolutely nothing to do with the plot or storyline. It was definitely to much filler that bored me into not wanting more of the book series.

What an intriguing magical world the author has created. Rylen and his team, which really felt more like family, are a terrific mix of characters that I just loved. This story was full of action, danger, mystery, and unexpected twists. All in all, this book has me completely hooked and wanting more!!

This was an interesting take on magic wielders. I enjoyed the different kinds of magic showcased, but the insta love can be frustrating. It must be a challenge to create characters with enough time to get to know each other, rather than lust that leads to love.

Good so far

This is a good book. Well written and edited. There is no major cliffhangers. However it is clear after finishing the book the story is not over. I have downloaded the next book. I'm looking forward to reading it.

Morgan Wylie has introduced a new institution of paranormal beings: the Web, run by the secretive and wily Black Widow. Rylen is the leader in the northwest PAC, and he along with his close team--his family--have to face the danger of the human group trying to rid the world of all magical beings: the Fairfax Group. With the mysteries of the girl from the Group shadowing Rylen, their own PAC members going missing, and the ever-strict Widow demanding missions of Rylen and his team, and some surprises from Rylen's past there's a lot to keep interest in the story and the unfolding action piqued. I'd say this is more of a thriller than a romance because there isn't just one unfolding attraction with the array of characters in the book, but of course as the main character, we do focus more on Rylen's love life. I enjoyed the plot--am very impressed at the twists and that cliffhanger--but found the style of writing to be a bit overly descriptive (I'm more of a fan of the show don't tell), and not quite deep enough to really get emotionally attached to the characters yet. I have a feeling that will come with more books in this series though. I'm looking forward to Mather's tale in book 2! Recommend to supernatural action and romance lovers, but be warned there are explicit intimate scenes, swearing and some gore too.

I loved Morgan Wylie's Necromances from the Supernatural Chronicles set, so I could not turn down a chance to read and review Rylen! I fell immediately in love not only the title character, but everyone in his "family"....except Lacy.....
Thank you Morgan Wylie for giving me a chance to read this awesome book!!! I can't wait for Mather! Hopefully, "he got that stick out"!

Loved! Rylen was so good. The characters are so likable. Everyone really feels like family. There is such a descriptive story woven and showed (not told) to the reader. I really loved this book - it's hard to pick a favorite character as they are all awesome!!

There was a lot going on in this book. A lot of mystery and a lot of action. The story moves nicely and the characters are strong. Lots of questions still so, happy to be getting into the second book to find out more of the mysteries!

Awesome read and The Black Widow is creepy and mysterious. Characters are very relatable and I couldn't wait to dive back into the book.

Isn't it disappointing when you see a book with lotsa stars from excited reviewers but you can't see why the fuss? This is not a good read. What in the world are you Rylen Lovers seeing here to warrant your reviews? I would love you to share the edition you have, mine is crap.

Rylen is a crime against readability. The writing and story quality are poor, and ideas and vocabulary lack understanding at a basic level. A shining example is an illogical suggestion that someone be 'gutted and lynched’. Wait! You are asking if this is a warranted whinge but how dumb does it sound to sugar and honey a coffee. Ridiculous, right? So yes, this is a huge problem for me. Why gut someone and then hang them? Being drawn and quartered is an agonizing death. Dragged and lynch is worthy torture-some ending. There is an escalation in events in these instances because capital punishment doesn't save its subject from its purpose.

While my nitpick of marrying two redundant and nullifying ideas might be silly blithering, the crimes here only become more severe. [Introducing evidence: Goodness, NO. Stop]

They often got teased about being one "bad brother" and one "good brother," but if anyone knew them at all, they'd know that if anyone was the "bad one," it was angelic-looking Lucius. He had a streak about him that you did not want to encounter if you were on what he consider to be the "wrong" side.

It is distracting as hell to see all those "evaluators" among the obnoxiously misused"quotes" and "misplaced commas,".

For a moment I found the backstory in Prologue interesting but it quickly grew muddy and contradictory. [I introduce evidence: WTH] Initially Rylen is ten years old, then only paragraphs later, he's seven. More confusing, Chapter One establishes that he had been bitten two years prior to him running away which screws the numbers up more.

Rylen's story as written is along the line of this:

He was bitten at five years old--or perhaps eight. At the age of seven--or possibly ten--he saves a friend from death, exposes himself, goes on trial, and is sentenced to death. His younger brother Simmon is reported to be five on both occasions his age is stated; clearly Simmon’s age is more stalwart than Rylen's yo-yoing years spanning the same page. The wee brother's intellect is far more advanced than Rylen’s, since Rylen doesn’t get why evil, supernatural is bad. Simmon--understanding all the implications of vigilante, religiously conservative, nutjobs seeing Rylen as the devil--cleverly stages a distraction by-means-of arson to rescue his older-not-so-clued-in brother.

Considering Rylen’s sliding scale youth, the nutjobs may be onto something. For the sake of mathematical factoring though Simmon is comparably five if Rylen is seven, but then eight when Rylen is ten. I put that out there so we don't have to put Simmon on trial for sorcery since he is merely a child prodigy.

...and knives do not have holsters; just saying.

Morgan Wylie I find you guilty of a shabby book. You are charged with one-star review for Rylen, you have the option to improve with a later edition. Please proofread your book, write a second draft, get it edited, beta-read, write a third draft, and resubmit.

If you are hungry for a good shifter novel let me suggest you check out something else.
