Her best friend and neighbours are aliens. Now they want to go home, and she will risk everything to help them . Josie is a strong-minded young woman who runs a thriving spa hotel in a rural English village. Her best friend lives in a women's commune on an adjoining farm. The women live off the hydroponic produce of their hothouse. To the outside world they seem like a little eccentric but harmless. Only Josie and the farmer who gave them refuge some years earlier, know their true aliens who were marooned on Earth after there shuttle was shot down.
But everything changes when the farmer dies and his nephew, Oliver, inherits the farm together with its unusual hothouse tenants. Now she must do all she can to accelerate her friends rescue while keeping their identity secret.
In desperation, under the guise of a midnight naked wiccan ceremony, she helps the aliens send a distress signal into deep space. But when the signal is answered, it is not at all by who they expected. From a sleepy English village to the steamy jungle of a slave planet some forty light years away, you'll love this roller-coaster sci-fi adventure.
I grew up in York, graduated in economics from Hull University, and then moved to London to make a career as a charted accountant working for one of the world's largest firms of chartered accountants.
I am now retired living in Bedfordshire and pursuing what I love most - writing. I love sci-fi movies and books, and I love writing. It was therefore not surprising that my first three novels would be sci- fi.
64% and done. It started out a little slow but I always try to give time for world building. This starts off 3yrs after an alien crew crashed on Earth. A farmer took them in but he was elderly and Josie, his neighbor, took responsibility. After his passing, realizing that the property would be sold they sent a transmission requesting rescue. It was picked up by a pirate ship. The crew that crashed was all women from a matriarchal galaxy. The wormhole distorted time to where those that are coming for them are what the galaxy has become in their 3k years of absence. Now it's capitalism on steroids. Oh, and slavery is a thing. There's teen girls trying to seduce men twice their age, a young teen deciding she's desperately in love with a pirate- and her mom's ok with it, the threat of enslavement, a mad CEO/would-be emperor who just killed a girl's parents (accidentally, and pretty sure she's related to him- a cousin which makes the next part really gross) and just told her her only choice in life is to be his sex slave or someone else's. And that's how he treats the girl he likes, the rest are just slaves he purchased and used. I don't know if this will improve. I honestly feel sick just reading what I did. I hope Thena puts things to rights but I can't go further. The reviews were so good, not a single bad one, that I took a chance. But this is definitely a DNF and delete for me. On a high note, the editing was good, there was a plot (disturbing as it was). I forgive the teens their TSTL moments because they are still children. But that just reinforces the ick of them trying to seduce older men and the wrongness of thinking they're ready for adult relationships. The concept in the blurb was interesting. The fleshing out of it, something got lost.
JMJ Williamson has a very different take on a close encounter in Alien Hothouse! After their ship crashed on her farm, a woman shelters a group of alien women. When a bank threatens to take over the farm and expose her secret, she must find a way to help them get home. Williamson manages to capture your attention right off in this one and never lets go! This quirky story is kind of like a more adult version of ET, and it was honestly a lot of fun because of it! If you love alien books, especially a different take on the old genre, then get beamed up in this fast-paced adventure!
This is another great book by the author. This book is about a lady called Josie, who runs a spa hotel, which uses green alien sludge to heal people. She helps hide and protect a commune of aliens who are hiding out on Earth, until rescue arrives. They live on the land of her next door neighbour, who is also in on the secret, but who unfortunately dies, leaving his nephew to inherit the land and aliens. Will he help or expose them. A gripping read that I couldn't put down.
Thank you Goodreads for sending me this book. This is a fantasy novel, not a genre I would normally choose to read. But I genuinely enjoyed this read and would recommend it to fans of this genre. It is an easy read, base around a woman running a hotel who helps a group of marooned aliens. It is fast paced and not at all boring and I would say that I would quite happily read any seuels. Part of the book is based on earth and part in space, so there is plenty to get involved in, but as stated previously, this is not a heavy read.
I truly enjoyed this book. It was different that many fantasy books. A spaceship with all woman lands and a local woman befriends them. They build a hot house like structure to survive because they come from a hot steamy planet. The story moves along with a lost love renewed & a trip to outer space. It is well written and the characters are believable. The good guys win and the guys disappear. If you like your fantasy light and easy to read you will enjoy this book.
There are a lot of twists and turns in the story. Overall it is very entertaining but the resolution of some of the problems is vague. I look forward to additional books in the series.
