This handy book answers questions about usage, grammar, punctuation, mechanics, research writing, and documentation. With minimal terminology and clear explanations and examples, Jane E. Aaron covers the essentials for writers in and out of school. This second edition offers special sections on nonsexist language, document design, job applications, E-mail, ESL pointers for nonnative speakers, and citing sources (including electronic sources) across the curriculum.
Jane E. Aaron is a professional writer and editor as well as an experienced teacher. She is the author of the best selling Little Brown Handbook and coeditor of the best-selling Bedford Reader. She has served as consultant, editor, or writer on more than a dozen other textbooks for the first-year composition course.
This book essentially took on a gospel-like quality for me during my B.A., as I needed a concise reference about how to do the various formats/styles properly. I probably read through the MLA and APA section 10+ times.
