A true life story, featuring 'Augustus', the ambulance bus. This incident is taken from Angels Of Augustus: Pioneers Of The Living Inland and retold for children. Naïf illustrations accompany a simple text about the adventures of two Methodist nursing sisters who become bogged in the Outback when drought-breaking rains suddenly descend on the bus. Making the best of the situation, they camp out, setting up a sizzling barbecue. The peace of the Outback is no more when a band of wild pigs suddenly descend on their camp.

Chances of rescue are remote. But miracles happen - even in the Outback.
