The plot was very interesting and full of many surprising twists and turns. I love how the relationship between Remi and Thaddeus developed, but I wish that they had been more involved in the story. Remi was the main character, but neither she nor Thaddeus (or even J, Rita, or Desai) were the heroes. Instead, it was some woman who hey only met in the story who turned out to be the hero. I also wish that Shanon Gosling hadn't killed Upala in the end and that she had written a bit more about Remi and her twin brother Kai so that we could see their relationship develop.

This is the third and final book of this terrific trilogy. I went right into it from book #2 and it is a continuation of the story. I would suggest reading this series in order.
All the books of this series has been leading toward the same thing: the world has followers of some evil named the Sapphire Cutlass in every part of the globe that plans on taking over the earth. This book culminates in India where Remy, Thaddeus, and their two young friends, have traveled in the air balloon to find the source and fight it. Remy is torn between helping her friends or searching for the twin brother she just learned she has. The series is bigger than life and packed with drama and the unique use of precious jewels is genius. I only wish that this series does not end here. I love it! Love it! Love it!

I loved this book so much! I started with the first, and I love this series so badly. I’ve read them all about a dozen times, and am completely in love with Rémy and Thaddeus’s relationship, and the wonderful romance blooming between J and Dita.

Quite interesting and it makes me want to read the other books in the series. Unfortunately I started at book 3!

I started reading this series legit over 10 years ago. Definitely enjoyed it more then but it was nice to see the story come to an end even if it moved a bit fast

I've read all three books in order. I can say that I liked this third book better than the first two.

The Sapphire Cutlass is exactly the kind of fun YA romp I was hoping for when I started the DIAMOND THIEF series. The characters seem comfortable in their roles, the adventure is exotic, and the stakes are surprisingly high. Sharon Gosling seems to have hit her stride here, rewarding readers with equal measures of romance and action in a well-balanced novel.
Rémy Brunel, Thaddeus Rec, J, and orphaned moppet Dita have flown in their ruby-powered airship all the way from France to India. They seek many things: the location of J’s mentor Desai, information about a cult known as the Sapphire Cutlass, and the truth regarding Rémy’s “one true twin” brother, about whom she knows absolutely nothing. What they find is a power-mad sorcerer, a band of pirates, and a mountain’s worth of sapphires. Meanwhile, distant drums echo ominously through the thick, verdant jungle, and whispered legends might be more than smoke and fables.

This is an awesome book. I loved how the trilogy ended, and I'm so glad that Remy is now as happy as she possibly can be!
Romance: CLEAN. (And awesome, but that's beside the point.) No explicit scenes and no curse words, although there is one scene where there are a lot of people controlled by one person and that might be a little creepy for kids. I thought it was fine, and I get creeped out easily.
