Pretty good for a "new age business" book. To be honest, I'll need to re-read it. He calls it "a new business model" but it's not as revolutionary as I'd hoped. Probably because none of my business owners are "old thinking" or "rigid minded," so I was raised on concepts like these. It covers the fundamentals and importance of starting with YOU, then finding the BIG WHY, then building community (value people over profit), creation (product), culture (the company).
Maybe if you're just being introduced to business concepts, this is a good one to read. It introduces ethical leadership and a positive business culture.
Evolved Enterprise rehashes a number of different charity based business models and then touches on culture, vision, and a few other basic business concepts. It's a short quick read (which is good.) I'd only recommend this book if you're brand new to business and are looking to create a social impact company.
I typically judge books like this based on how much highlighting I do. This book offers some great advice and tips you can use to make sure you are running a business out of integrity and with the correct motivations.
I was really disappointed in this book. I thought there weren't nearly enough nitty gritty real hard nosed business applications in it. His previous book "Moonlighting on the Internet" was MUCH better.
