Nineteen-year-old Elizabeth 'Beta' Camden is a survivor. When the E'mani-those pale alien freaks-destroy Earth with a plague of madness and scoop up the remains, Beta is one of the 'lucky' ones. For years, she endures their tortures, experiments and games. Then one day, she manages to escape their ship with her life, and no memory of her time with them. Stranded on their world, Beta wanders the mountains, looking for a way home. She stumbles onto the Fost-the E'mani's ancient enemy. Their war with the Imani is old and rooted in magic that the Fost once had and the Imani crave. Magic Beta soon discovers she's developing along with strange tattoos and disturbing glimpses of her past. The Fost take her in and train her in their ways. As she spends more time with them, she falls in love with their culture and with Marin-he of the hot hands and slit eyes. But the E'mani took her for a reason and they want her back-dead or alive. If Beta doesn't remember that reason soon, they're all going to die.

A promising introduction to a New Adult sci-fi series!

This book is something new to me. Not because of its genre but because of how the author, Colleen S. Myers, was able to deliver a very original concept. I haven't read a lot of alien books but usually in a book like this, aliens invade the earth, live in it, and rule over the humans. In this book, however, we see a different scenario. Aliens invade the earth, take random humans and bring them to their planet. Then their planet will be the main setting. Isn't is refreshing in a way?

Must Remember follows a life of a 19 year-old girl named Elizabeth "Beta" Camden. One day she fell victim to a group of aliens called E'mani who took her away after creating a devastation in the earth. While in E'mani's world, she undergone horrible experiences and then one day, she woke up in a place resided by a group of another aliens called Fost who are otherwise known as the enemy of the E'mani. It would've ended Beta's misery but then she has no memory of what happened to her while she was captured by the E'mani, only her memory when she was on earth. Difficult situations soon arrived when she met two Fost men that completely changed her life, Finn and Marin.

I loved how this book started off. It immediately captured my attention because of its interesting premise and the neat world description and its history. The writing of the author was also decent. But while there were some interesting things in the book, there were also some negative ones that didn't sit well with me, such as the heroine. I found Beta somewhat annoying. I kind of don't like her POV and her ramblings and I'm so sorry to say that I can't stand her attitude, especially when it comes to interacting her men. Yes, ladies and gents. Love triangle. Ugh. Okay I'm not really against love triangles as I have a lot of favorite books and series where there are swoony love triangles but in this book, I didn't want the heroine to delve into this complicated thing because I think it's not necessary.

Also, it kind of lacked when it comes to action scenes. I wished there were lots and lots of it. The ending, however, was nicely done. I loved how the story was closed with an indication of what the sequel will offer. Hopefully the second installment will be better than this. All in all, this was a good start to a series. I can a sense a huge revelation in the upcoming books.

(Thank you to the author, Colleen S. Myers, for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!)

Elizabeth has a very bad day waking up late for class. On her way to class she notices everyone acting really strangely. Things takes a turn for the worse she decides to hide out until she can find a safe place and figure out what's going on.

I loved that from the beginning we start off with action and wondering what's going on. The world building was great I enjoyed all the history of the different people of Solum. I enjoyed the characters especially Elizabeth. Elizabeth went through so much throughout the story but was able to stay strong. The only thing I really didn't like about the book was the love triangle it seemed unnecessary to me.

I enjoyed the author's writing style and humor. I'm hoping to read more about the people of Solum and Elizabeth in the future. I'd definitely recommend this book to sci fi readers that enjoy spicy reads.

I received this book from netgalley for an honest review.

I received a copy of this book from Colleen Laughlin via NG in return for an honest review.

"You just proved to me that we may be different races, but smartass is universal."

This book had me in tears from laughter (the good kind!)

I love Colleen Myers' writing style!!
It's awesome, funny and engaging!
But I'm getting way ahead of myself, let's hop to the plot.

Elizabeth/ Betta wakes up one sunny day to realise that she is late for a test.
Rushing out, she stops in shock when the world around her turns into perpetual mayhem.
What the heck is going on?
Every body is killing each other, yelling each other.
The police are inaccessible.
Frightened she runs to hide, but when next she comes to,
She's a a deserted place...in the middle of nowhere.
Her eyes take in the fact that there are two suns, she heals too quickly, and the natives a humanoid but with some serious changes.
Whatever got her here, her life and the life of who she touches are irrevocably changed for eternity.

This book was just a brilliant surprise!
I can't remember the last time i laughed so much in a book and genuinely pulled an almost all nighter so i could know what was happening. In essence, what I'm trying to say - is that this book was really good.

I loved the characters in here, however, love triangle alert!

That was the damper in the story, I mean, we know her general preference fairly early on, but she did agonize over the two BUT before the book ends she does choose one, so that was merciful. Even though I know that the rejected dude probably will not give up *face-palm*

I root for Marin - just saying.

Betta herself is a riot, I loved her character...when we're not discussing romance that is. She's such a smartass, and snarky but really loving too.

The only thing about her that was unrealistic is how easily she took the fact that she was pretty much taken by aliens...*clears throat* sorry Finn, i mean taken by the E'mani and the Fost.

I would think more panic would occur but...um, that didn't really happen. However, it had an awesome plot and cool characters AND there's magic in here!

Okay WARNING! This book does have sexual situations and scenes, it's a New Adult book definitely.

Stay awesome!

Must Remember: Dead or alive, they want her back. (Solum Series Book 1) was a fast pace, edgey read that had me hooked with in seconds. I didn't stop until the last page, and was left wanting more.

My first read by this author, I didn't know what to expect from this sci-fi, dystopian read. The opening was crazy, and it's what sets the stage to this dark read, cause just as much as our MC, we want answers, because to just leave the opening and jump ahead without knowing what happened, wow, my attention was grabbed and I needed to know everything.

Okay, if you follow my reviews, or if you don't, then I'll fill you in. I got this thing agents love-triangles. And I hate to say it, cause I loved this unique read, there is one, and for me, it was a bit of a distraction from the main plot. A plot that is outlined pretty fast, and one that doesn't really involve the love feels you could say. I got no problems with added love in a non-romance driven plot, but to add it just for, adding it, and to follow the dreaded "tropes" and basic outline, of the "after Twilight" phase, doesn't add to the story, it takes away. Beta spends way too much time trying to pick a lover, and that urgency surrounding her and, why she was taken in the first place, it lost.

Okay now that's out of the way. I need to stress to you how much I love this book. Outside if the love-tri, the plot, is pretty cool, and the concept is wicketly original. I'm not going to say anymore cause I don't want to ruin anything. But the attention to detail, the world building is, if you don't mind the pun, out of the world. It paints such a vivid picture that you feels like you're on a different planet, a different world. And once that mystery sourrening Bate starts to unravel, you just can't keep your eyes off the pages.

This book is s must read, and I give it my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval. This isn't like anything you've read, and it will trap you like it has me. I can't wait to read the next book!

Happy Reading

(I received this book to read and give an honest review)

Elizabeth (Beta) was a normal college student until the E'mani came and took her away, plaguing the earth with madness. She finds herself on a new planet and she can no longer remember how she had gotten there. With her memory's lost and wearing the enemy's clothes, she stumbles upon a group of Fost nearby. Not knowing where her loyalty's lie, they take her as a captive to their home. Little does she know she will find herself between two men who both ignite something inside her.

This was the perfect book for me to read, you have aliens, sex, and action. The author changed it up a bit and wrote the story on their home planet instead of our. It was very refreshing, I often find myself reading about the aliens invading Earth or mating with the humans here. But this story was different, it had a spark of its own. Two handsome men pawing over this one woman, oh along with the emotional depth that Beta had on her own was amazing.

This is a book for the readers that like the love triangles, aliens, action, and romance all tied in with a little bit of sex. I mean who doesn't love sex.

I have nothing bad to say about this book, it was one of the books I could not put down.

Must Remember is a fantastic first offering from new author Colleen S. Myers. The pacing and plot of the book kept me engaged. The main character Elizabeth aka Beta is big fun, all girl, and her character development is great. The world that Elizabeth finds herself on is artfully described by Myers, and the new cast of characters are given a depth that I haven’t found in most initial offerings by authors in this genre.
I read a large quantity of paranormal romance and erotica, so Must Remember’ s more intimate scenes were very PG rated, however sexy and believable in the realm of possibilities for a 19-20 year old. I think that Myers did a great job of making sure that the actual story and plot of the book is beefy and exciting enough to maintain a full series of books. I hope that as an author Myers will allow herself to further explore Elizabeth’s sexual side and that of her hunky new planet friends more in future books. Elizabeth will mature and hopefully the sexy scenes will be richer and fuller as well.
That being said, I am very impressed by Must Remember and think that Myers is going to have a gripping, exciting and sexy series to show her new fans and readers!

I loved how this story began. It helps to understand where the character started. This story has ups and downs, and Elizabeth's story isn't done yet. She is loyal and knows what she wants! She is willing to stand by her beliefs, and do what is right. This story was excellent and I enjoy it.

I got this book through NetGalley and after reading it, I will definitely be buying it.

This book falls under the New Adult genre. I was pleasantly surprised as I was reading this. It's a bit of Sci-Fi and a bit of Fantasy mixed together. There's humor that you wouldn't expect either. I was laughing out loud which is extremely difficult. There is sarcasm, romance, magic, action, aliens, and more.

Elizabeth/Beta is our heroine and the narrator in this book. I love the nickname Myers chose for Elizabeth. I've seen Beta used as a nickname. I found it clever. Beta is a college girl and her entire world ends one day when everyone around her stars going crazy. That was how the book opened. That whole first chapter had me going "What the hell am I reading?!" Then she wakes up on another planet with two suns in a uniform she doesn't recognize with no memories of how she got there.

Some books that have amnesia dive me crazy because they tend to drag it out. Beta gets flashbacks and dreams that slowly clue us in without ruining the plot. In fact, I found that Myers paced the plot and action quite well. She didn't info dump us on too much and allowed the characters to describe the world.

One thing I did have a problem with was the love triangle. I'm just not a fan of them. We do know who she prefers pretty early on but she kept going back and forth which is annoying. Thankfully she chose by the end of the book so it wasn't too drawn out. Of course, the rejected guy won't be giving up that easily. I'm on team Marin.

The character development for Beta was great. Things weren't dragged out and when she started getting bored, she decided she wanted to do something about it. But she was very real. The memories that began to return scared her and at points she was very human in not wanting to remember the pain.

I enjoy fantasy more than sci-fi and the fact that this was both made it great and unique. I love the elemental magic that was included and I love the jatua. They are tattoo-like markings that appear on a person's skin. They are basically the person's story. I just found it cool.

I'm excited for the next book, Can't Forget. Must Remember didn't end on a cliff-hanger exactly, but it's enough to make you want more. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys magic, aliens, or romance.

Must Remember

It's not to be missed! It deserves 4.5 stars!

Elizabeth life changes drastically after her abduction from Earth and memory lost. What must she remember?

Aliens have culled the strongest from planet Earth. What are their plans? Danger lurks, enemies are waiting for their chances.

Elizabeth 'Beta' shows courage, and new found powers in this alien land. Her future is there with no way back home. She is attracted two alien men. Find out were her heart leads.

The story was well-plotted out, and entertaining. The sexual tension, steamy scenes, and chemistries between some characters was hot. Readers will be amazed with the science fiction, action, suspense, romance and original storyline. The setting was vivid. I could visualize the E’mani causing chaos.

Science fiction story with some hot passion makes this a great read. From the begining I was hooked into the story trying to figure out what was happening to this girl. It had a satisfactory ending with a hope for more. There were just a few tiny spots in the story that seemed a little too jumpy and for me needing just a little more detailed flow but it was one I could still stick with and follow through reading.

I loved this book. The alien world this author created was very complex and really engaging. Her character really brought you into the story. You could imagine being in an end of the world story with no problem. And of course your a survivor, and why they need to know? This one keeps you on your toes.

Must Remember: Dead or alive, they want her back. (Solum Series Book 1)
By: Colleen S. Myers
5 out of 5 stars

The story Must Remember: Dead or alive, they want her back. (Solum Series Book 1) by Colleen S. Myers is a science fiction/fantasy book. I really enjoyed reading this story. It draws you in from the very beginning and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had read the final page. I also found myself turning pages wondering what was going to happen next and if all the mysteries/questions that are raised will be solved. I loved reading about the character of Elizabeth ‘Beta’ Camden. She is a young woman who finds herself with a race called the Fost. Beta is someone who although has fears wants to find out the questions that arise when she is found. There are gaps in her memory that are frustrating as she tries to make sense of what has happened to her. She also is interested in learning about the people that she now resides with. The Fost are trying to survive. The war that they are in with their enemy has been a long one. While many are not trusting of Beta there are those that are curious and want to know more about her. The Fost has an old enemy that is ruthless and cruel. The answers to why the Fost’s enemy took Beta and now want her back becomes all the more important as time passes. Will Beta regain her memories? How much danger are the Fost and Beta really in? Read this book to find out. I loved that this story does an amazing job of giving details on the world that Beta finds herself on and the people she meets. I found myself feeling like I was right there with her seeing what she does. I also enjoyed reading about the other characters that are part of the story and that interact with Beta. One is a very handsome and charming Fost named Marin. They both feel the heat and electricity when they are near each other. This is an interesting and wonderful story that I would highly recommend reading. It is the first book in a series and I look forward to reading the next one.

Must remember is Book one in the Solum series from author Colleen S. Myers.
This book has literally held me captivated since the first page and held me there until the very end. I was not expecting to be drawn into the action, suspense and mystery quite so early on in this read but it made everything more heightened while reading it.

Elizabeth ‘Beta’ is introduced straight away and we are thrown into her world - one that not only becomes a mystery to her, but to us as well. We follow her on the journey of ups & downs. The mystery surrounding her own existence on this unknown planet. She becomes a mystery to everyone - and they try anything to figure out why and how she got there and of course the biggest suspense of them all why she was wearing enemies clothing.

This author has created an incredibly vivid, mentally visual read. I couldn’t help but picture the whole planet in my mind while reading it, the look and descriptions of each individual character that Beta comes into contact with. All of it makes for an incredible sci-fi, alien romance novel filled with action, adventure, mystery, suspense, romance and most important an incredible plot.

Each character that Beta interacts with, comes across to you as the reader in different ways. Each of them making their own impressions on Beta and the way acts around them, but you can’t help but love Finn & Marin and of course Ute, but each of these characters has their own story to be told and I loved reading their interactions, feelings and ideas of why Beta is there. Along with the brilliant connections, we cannot forget the magic that is weaved through the story and the history of it.
I loved that we were learning all things along with Beta, it made everything seem more real, and as though we were there living out the story ourselves.

Overall this was an incredible read that I loved that I got the chance to read, and cannot wait to delve into this world again in Book 2 - to see what continues with Beta’s story.

Must Remember is the first book in the Solum series by Colleen S. Myers. It is a ‘new adult’/science fiction story with a love triangle, action, adventure, aliens, magic, survival, memory loss, and good vs. evil. It is just under 200pages, which made it a quick and easy read.
Elizabeth (Beta) Camden’s world turns upside down- going from being a typical college student one minute, to waking up on an alien world with missing memories, the next. As she is trying to figure out where she is and what’s going on- she runs into a Fost- one of the planets native inhabitants…. And the story takes off from there. She learns about the world she’s on, and little snippets of memories begin to return. She is drawn to two ‘men’- and spends a lot of time trying to decide between the two. There is danger, and a much at stake- a lot rests on her remembering. How did she get there? Why did the aliens abduct her? What do they want? What exactly happened, and why can’t she remember?
First of all, I love the cover! I was drawn to it right away.
Beta’s story was quite interesting, but she did frustrate me a lot with her inner dialogue and indecision. And I usually don’t mind a love triangle in a book, but I felt this one was quite distracting, and it added unwarranted drama and complication to the storyline. #TEAM MARIN…
The world building was on-point, with wonderful descriptions and details. The characters were interesting and original. The story got off to a fantastic start, with a great pace- but did lose some of that momentum in the middle of the book.
I am looking forward to book #2.

Thank you, Ms. Myers!

Must Remember: dead or alive they want her back by Colleen Myers is he first book in The Solum series. It is a unique and intriguing story that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
Beta is one of the lucky ones. She survived and was rescued by the E’mani. However their rescue comes at a high cost. That cost? The torture and experiments they subject her to for years.
Having finally escaped Beta finds herself wandering their world, without any memory of her past, trying to stay alive and out of their grasp.
To make matters worse Beta starts displaying old magic. Magic that sets her apart. It becomes imperative that Beta remembers what happened to her, or she could find herself in even more trouble.

This book had me intrigued from the start. It had so many different elements that I couldn’t wait to see how it would all come together. Beta’s part in the story was interesting and only got better to read about as the book went on. I loved reading about her as a character and the way she was portrayed. And when the Fost were introduced it just got even better for me. This book was well put together and knows how to take you, as the reader, on a journey. A great start to a new series.

Must Remember: Dead or Alive, They Want her Back. Book 1 in the Solum Series by Colleen Myers
4 out of 5 Stars
Elizabeth “Beta” Camden has lived through a nightmare and survived. In her new post-apocalyptic world, she has survived the claiming and destroying of her world from the E’mani, the creepy alien men from Space. She suffers their experiments and torments, and finally she escapes.
She doesn’t remember the details of why, but they want her back….badly and they will do anything to get her back. In her fear and pursuit of safety, she runs into the Fost, the enemy of the E’Mani, and hey, the enemy of her enemy is her friend….right? Beta struggles with the memories from her time of capture and knows that they hold the secret as to why the E’mani want her back so bad. As she tries to regain these memories she is drawn to the handsome Marin, a Fost who seems to have a similar attraction to Beta.
This book is not in my normal wheelhouse genre but I was oddly and pleasantly surprised with this book. The characters were well rounded and sharp. Easily relatable on a personal level and with dashes of humor thrown in. A good read for a rainy day.

Must remember was a very interesting 4 star read and book one in the Solum series.

The way this book starts is really twisted and insane. I had no idea what was going on right along with Elizabeth. Elizabeth ends up waking up in a whole new world with two suns. She is beyond confused, she ends up meeting some men that take her back to their village.

Elizabeth would have memories here and there, she was also learning about her magic. We also get a love triangle when Finn and Marin are vying for her attention and they are not shy about it. I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about Marin at first, he seemed a little shady for me. Finn pulled me in until some secrets were revealed. I’m still on the fence on whose team I’m on.

There is so much more that goes on, danger, secrets, suspense and action. I really liked Elizabeth's strength and sassiness, I had so many LOL moments with her. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. We do end with a cliff hanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Colleen has done another great job of pulling you right in with her writing.

Overall this was an incredible read that I loved. I cannot wait to dive into this world again in Book 2 - to see what continues with Beta’s story.

Unique and very interesting! Loved the whole premise for this story! Elizabeth wakes up on an unknown planet missing some of her memories, she's taken in by a group of people. Elizabeth doesn't know if she can trust them, and they don't know if they can trust her, but an uneasy alliance is formed. When Elizabeth's memories begin to come back, she realizes something terrible happened to her, and seeks revenge. Elizabeth also has a couple of suitors that are trying to win her affections, which leads to some steamy and intense moments. I liked both guys, but I liked the direction it went. The romance has some really hot moments, and the connection between the characters is sweet. I do think Elizabeth is a pinch of a hypocrite at times, but I still liked her, and I like that she's confident. The world Colleen S. Myers created was very cool, and the story was entertaining throughout the whole book. I liked her take on an alien planet and the aliens that inhabit it. Really enjoyed this, and on to the next book!

Must Remember is a non-stop action story! Every page is a page-turner. Elizabeth "Beta" starts off as your average college student, but things take a turn from dealing with a hangover to the end of the world very quickly. Beta ends up on another planet with two suns with no recollection of how she got there. Beta is smart and sassy, but she also drove me bonkers are times. I'm usually not a fan of love triangles... however, I didn't mind this one. I wasn't in love with her attitude about how relationships work, not everything is for everyone... I get it. I do think she judged a little too harshly and quickly. Just because it's not for you, doesn't mean it doesn't work for everyone else. That being said, Finn, Beta, and Marin are intriguing characters and definitely worth following. I started off knowing whom I thought she should be with, however, towards the end, my opinion changed. The world building and story development were great and I thought the narration by Melissa Moran was spot on. I can't wait to read/listen to what happens next!

One hell of a love triangle that continues throughout the series. 😒

I don't even know what the heck was going on at the beginning of the book. It's so confusing and you don't figure it out until way further down.

Elizabeth is a human taken by an evil alien race called Émani or imani depends what edition of the book you're reading. She escapes them with no memory of how she got to the planet. She stumbles unto another distant race similar to the Émani called Fros. She takes a liking to one of the clan leader, Finn and the clan chief Marian.

From there on its a love triangle between the three. If you don't like love triangles don't read this book of the rest of the series. You would think that Elizabeth would choose someone by the end of the first book but she doesn't completely choose one since she keeps being tempted by both. This goes on for the next two books as well.

Also, what the F#$@ kinda nickname is Beta? Is Elizabeth some kind of wolf or what. Liz, Beth, Eli are more reasonable nicknames but Beta?
