Twist and Jonas have grown close over the last few weeks, and learned to depend on each other. But when Jonas disappears suddenly, everyone but Twist forgets that he ever existed. Even Arabel believes herself an only child. Trying to prove to Jonas's family that the man does exist, and is in dire need of rescue, only succeeds in making Twist question his own sanity.

After losing his friend, Twist has a dream that it was a dragon that stole Jonas away, and that the beast now plans to take Jonas all the way to Jupiter in a spacecraft. Terrified that he is losing his mind, Twist has no choice but to find out the truth. Is Jonas really in danger of being stolen away to Jupiter by dragons, or has he never been anything more than a figment of Twist's imagination?

Follow Twist as he travels from London, over the North Pole, and through Japan to Australia, enlisting the help of old friends and new, and even one old enemy. Find out if dragons are real, or if Twist is finally cracking up, as he searches the world for any salvation from this maddening turn of events!

Book 4 and I cannot get enough of this fantastical series, and this time round Jonas vanishes literally as he is abducted by dragons into outer space but is also wiped out of everyone's memory but Twist's. Poor Twist goes out of his mind when he realises that no one, not even Arabel, Jonas's twin sister can remember who he is, and they all thought he was losing his sanity the more he strove to find him. Finally Storm confirmed Jonas's existence but he was away in Australia so Twist, Myra, Arabel, Skye and her familiar Kali start their travels across the globe from London to Melbourne with a stop over to meet Vane the kitsune in Japan. There Twist meets another dragon who tries to betray him, so he kills him and they all resume their travels to Australia. This is a very tense book as poor Twist is on his own, trying to manage his anxiety and fear of people on a liner which is packed with these, as well as trying hard to retain his sanity in the face of Arabel's constant harassment and a psychiatrist she ropes in to 'help' Twist. Skye though is a real treasure as is Kali, they are dauntless and believe in Twist immediately. Myra as always watches Twist's back and showers him with love even when she too doubted him but only for an instant. I cannot wait to see where the next book takes our group of friends for their next adventure.

I enjoyed this, the fourth in this twelve book saga, possibly a bit more that the first three because of the tension of the "missing" character of the title. It's true that I can't help wondering things sometimes, like for example, since in this alternative Victorian period where airship travel is a common as any other form, and all kinds of other devices are invented, how come no one has invented the electric light bulb? But, this is purely fantasy after all and if one is going to get hung up on details it will simply spoil the enjoyment. Mainly, the character of Twist, more to his surprise than anyone else's, has grown out of all recognition. I am anticipating the circumstances of his birth, and his parents to be revealed at some stage, but that may not be until near the end of the series. So now I'm starting on book five.

Early (for me) review.

I generally don't write a review until I've finished any series. But Twist includes so many books, I thought this would be a good time to post one. Besides, book four was a pure delight. I've greatly enjoyed all 4 books, but this one just grabbed me. More than anything, it thewas wonderful seeing Twist really come into his own. I love these adventures! I adore the characters, and, well......I'm simply enchanted. So glad I gave this long series a chance, because I'm thrilled there's still so many more to go. Oh, what will Twist and his friends get tangled up in next?

This is book four in the series and instead of the story running out of steam, (no pun intended!) it seems to just be getting started. I enjoyed this version of dragons and hope Twist and his friends continue on to many more adventures!

This series is so much fun and this book is the best one so far.. we've had all sorts of weird and wonderful creatures but dragons in space? What can top that lol.. we also get a little more insight into the fact that Twist might just be a little extra special. Excited to see where it goes

Love how Twist has apparently started to grow up and out of his shell.

A rather different tale

In this story you encounter dragons and space travel. Twist pulls together a varied crew to rescue Jonas. It is a great story.

Instead of lions and tigers and bears, we get tigers and clowns and dragons! Always something new and different.
