Fire of the Jidaan #2

Gart's Road: Book Two of the Fire of the Jidaan Trilogy

Rate this book
After the brutal murder of his family, Gart’s voyage continues as he searches for the weapon that was promised him by the Mage, Brunar. Once a peaceful farmer, who only wanted to be left alone, Gart must now become something more. Struggling with the powerful magick that grows within him, Gart follows a dangerous path. Only with the fabled Jidaan of Storms would he have a chance against Mordak’s Champion, the demon-bred Jor Dayne.

Guided by the noble Brunar, the other five Guardians make their way to Laro, hurrying to reach the walled city before Mordak’s army. Brunar and the elf-like Weya guide the Duke and his fierce warriors as they face an enormous, bloodthirsty horde of nightmarish creatures. The dead will rise and evil will walk the walls of Laro if Mordak has his way.

As the time for battle draws near, Gart fights his own monsters…alone.

Somewhere between Horse's farts and harpies I fell in love with this book. There are so many rich characters and creatures, I really took my time with this one and enjoyed the writing every step of the way. If you aren't accustomed to high fantasy, there is a lot going on to follow, but well worth the journey.

Book 2 of the Fire of Jidaan Trilogy

A good book. The battle between good and evil continues. There are many obstacles for our guardians and mage to get through. Many new characters arrive also. Some of them are friend and some foe. Can't wait to finish the trilogy.

A wonderful follow-up to Mage's Burden. The author does an amazing job moving the storyline forward. He alternates between Gart on his journey toward his destiny with the Jidaan of Storms and Brunar and the other Guardians as they struggle to defend the city of Laro from Mordak and his evil minions. Cannot wait to read the next book and see how it all ends!

I am entranced by the depth of this tale. Rarely a story lights the passion of the journey traveled within me. Yet this one has me aching to jump headlong into the next book. So many heroines, heros and true monstrous enemies to overcome.

GARTS ROAD (BOOK 2 OF THE FIRE OF THE JIDAAN TRILOGY) BY WHIT MCCLENDON

Of all the people called by Brun to aid in the fight against Mordak, Gart was a hold out. He wanted no part of the battle against the evil forces. At least until it hit home. After the death of his family, all bets were off and he went seeking his Jidaan. Meanwhile, the rest of the group from MAGES BURDEN have a battle on their hands. Will Gart get to them in time to help? You must read Garts road to find out.
Mr. McClendon has painted a picture with words so vividly that you see the battles and hear the words. That is the art of a fantastic writer. GARTS ROAD Is one of those books, impossible to put down until your eyes are too sleepy to continue. It is a 5 star read once again and the author has not disappointed this reader.

The sequel to Mage's Burden, Gart's Road is a fantastic adventure. Gart, who is emotionally and physically scarred, begrudgingly seeks that which Brunar the Mage has promised him. Recoil at the evil descending on Laro, guarded by Brunar and the other five Guardians of the Jidaan. Revel in the selflessness and heroism interwoven with magick and humor. Every one of the good guys comes alive on the page, making you root for them and thirst for more when the book concludes.

McClendon's writing is vivid and smooth, bringing to life all manner of creatures. He deftly portrays nuanced moments as well as raging battles. It's a book that draws you into its world with creativity and boundless imagination. It's far and away the best book I read in 2015.

I really love this series! I thoroughly enjoyed Gart's Road, the sequel to the Mage's Burden. Following along the journey Brunar and the Guardians as they battle the evil Mordak continues to be a lot of fun. I've come to care about each of the characters and find myself cheering them on as they struggle through their quest. The book is fast-paced, imaginative, and a lot of fun - I find the books in this series hard to put down once I start reading. Highly recommended!

Gart's Road is an exciting, action-packed fantasy adventure.
Another great installment in this 'must read' series! I think I might even like this one better than the first one, but they are both well worth reading. I am anxiously awaiting the third book. I'm so glad to have discovered this talented author. If you like fantasy, I highly recommend this book and the whole series.

Excellent follow up to Mage's Burden, we get to know more of the characters we were introduced to in the original and there are a couple really great new ones as well (I won't spoil you on who I am talking about). The overall story fits well into the epic fantasy genre but the characterization is to me what sets this series apart from the pack. I am looking forward to book 3!
