OK I admit it: after almost two years of membership, I'm obsessed with Orangetheory Fitness. But this is a good book on its own. Part autobiography, part infomercial, Ellen Latham pulls back the curtain a little on what makes the fastest-growing fitness franchise work and how it relates to everyday life and business. It also makes me appreciate what goes into creating and coaching the classes. After taking 250 of them, I'm in better shape at age 57 than ever before, and Push tells me why.

I picked up this book because there's an Orangetheory Fitness near by home, and I'm thinking about joining. This book was very informative, and I'm a little more likely to join now, Maybe the book isa bit of a membership/franchise promo, but it is an interesting concept.

As a teacher, I'm trained to recognize "author's purpose." Latham wrote this book to sell franchises and memberships to her business Orangetheory. As an Orangtheory member, I did enjoy the first three chapters on how Latham created the company and the science behind the workout. I gave this book three stars only because of the first three chapters. However, the rest of the chapters (4-9) were there to to sell her business under the disguise of "motivational." Thank goodness I didn't spend $12.95, and thank goodness reading this book wasn't a huge time investment (142 pages).

The workouts really work on me. So I am interested in the creator behind it. Very nice and inspiring story, told calmly. I like the theory behind the workouts, and the analogy she draws to life. You might say it is cheesy, but I do feel that the only way that you can hold on to workout (or anything) for long is to truly connect it to a higher purpose. That way, a workout is not merely sweating for 6o minutes; you are aware of your status, "how am I and which phase I want to be in today"? And, you have the inspiration to live an all out life, that way each day is part of it, and it is your way of living.

I know some of it might be marketing, but the spirit is taken.

Not my usual read but I’ve been going to Orange Theory Fitness regularly for almost a year so i was curious about the book. I liked the story of how the workouts were conceived and the science behind them. Ellen’s story was inspirational and she has created an incredible business. I could have done without the last section on Franchising and would have liked more OTF member stories and inspiration. I may have given the book 3 stars but the workouts are 5+ stars. Would have been helpful to read this before I went to my first class.

I received this book when I signed up at Orange Theory to exercise. I wasn't expecting it to be a very good book, but I read it anyway because I wanted the full experience and because it was a short book. What I really liked about it is that it took the ideas of Base, Push, and All Out (from Orange Theory Exercise) and applied it to life.

I liked how Ellen clarified her theory around health and how it impacted her business. She is a motivated, dedicated, hard-working person. She truly understands exercise science, as well as the various ways people engage in exercise. She has a lifetime of helping people meet their fitness goals and all of that history has led her to develop a well respected exercise company.

I was pretty disappoint with this book. As an Orange Theory member, I felt like this book was extremely cheesy and relied too much on the sayings “Base,” “Push” and “All Out” rather than talking about the science of the workout, or the reasoning behind Endurance, Strength and Power days. I love Orange Theory, but I feel like this book could have been so much more.

Motivating

I encourage anyone thinking of trying Orange Theory to read this book. It really helps to understand the science and mechanics of the formula. It's an easy read and only took me about 90 minutes.

I devoured this. I love Orangetheory SO much, and I really enjoyed learning more about its creator & founder. She and I have a lot in common. I love that she followed her passion full speed ahead, and that she’s able to relate Orangetheory workouts so closely to life itself.

Since November of 2017, I've been a dedicated adherent to the Orangetheory Fitness workout. I love how Ellen describes how she came up with the ultimate workout so that we can all live an All Out life. Reading this book, like doing an OTF workout, is inspiring and worth every minute.

An entertaining book to read in 5 minute snatches prior to an Orangetheory class.

It was an interesting read for sure if you are interested in Orangetheory Fitness, franchising, or both. Unfortunately though it had a hard time not sounding like a giant ad.
