A woman with an unpleasant past...
With a mother who does not approve of her choices and an unplanned pregnancy, Kaylee has never had it easy, but now her life is starting to look a little brighter. A new home. A new school for her young boy. A new position in a company that can lead to the job of her dreams. Everything seems to be falling into place.
Then Alex comes along.
A firm rap on her cubicle wall made her turn with a start. Kaylee's eyes drifted up the navy dress skirt and white blouse to meet those vibrant green eyes again.
"Grab your things. I'm taking you to lunch."
A woman who doesn't take no for an answer...
Cool and confident, Alex is a woman who knows what she wants and gets what she wants. And she wants her. Eyes set on Kaylee, she sweeps her off her feet.
Together...
They share the joys of intimacy and the freedom of being who they really are.
But while Kaylee is falling hard and fast, Alex remains her stoic self. It leaves Kaylee riddled with doubt and questioning whether or not Alex feels the same way about her.
Will this relationship end in heartbreak like what Kaylee is used to? Or will this be the beginning of her fantasies coming true?
3-1/2 stars I received a copy of this book from Inked Rainbow Reads in exchange for an honest review. There were a lot of things to like about this first book, but a couple of things were a bit problematic for me. First, the way it's written makes it feel rushed. That is, the pace feels fast and urgent, and there doesn't seem to be a reason for it. The second thing, which probably stems from the first, is that throughout the whole book there's this feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop. I kept waiting for something to be wrong with Alex, or for something to happen that split them up. Third, the flashbacks are a bit weird and so far, there hasn't been much of a point to them. And fourth, and this is probably a personal pet peeve, the author keeps using British words and vernacular even though the story is set in America. Lastly, these first two episodes don't deliver on the type of sex intimated by the title, so a little disappointed there. At the end of the book, the story was nice enough, although I'm not sure I would have picked up book two right away. Still, it was enjoyable and it kept me reading.
It is a very straightforward sort of review for a relatively straightforward book. Books since the one book is packaged with two stories.
The stories seem to be constructed as: plot chunk - sex scene - plot chunk - sex scene. In terms of the plot, it's okay. The billionaire and the sexy down on her luck is a trope that I think is broadly overused but there is a unique aspect that the main character has a kid.
Overall, it's fantasy fuel and as far as that goes, it's doing pretty good. However, I just wish that the plot beyond the bedroom felt more real, was slower or had more conflict. Alex is cool and all but she oversteps boundaries on finances a lot which you would have thought would have been a bigger deal. Still, I'll be checking out the others to see how the story goes.
If all you are looking for is an erotic read where the focus is sex then this book is for you but if you a looking for a story with a bit of a storyline to it then don’t bother. The characters could have had so much more of a story to tell. I found that at times the story was quite repetitive and then it jumped from scene to scene with no real explanation as to why. The erotic scenes at times are quite steamy but then towards the end of the book I felt like the mood was ruined by the way one of the scenes was written. At times I felt the author tried to hard. The reason I have given it 3 stars is because as an erotic novel it’s not too bad but as a story it just lacks too much.
This was actually thru E6 but I couldn't find that edition in Goodreads. I wanted this book to be a lot better than it was. One of the things I didn't like was that there was some BDSM in it, which was fine, but then the dom doesn't stop when the person uses the safe word because she was mad/jealous etc. Which to me is unacceptable IRL, but the author sort of glossed over it, because she was mad and jealous. I also thought the word nub was used way too many times; I started to cringe whenever I read it, which is not sexy at all. The steam was well enough written besides the "nub" reference, which is why I gave it a 3.
I wanted nice and easy, but there wasn't enough of a story to disconnect from life. Not really worth my time. Most of the fanfiction I read have more depth.
I'll still try E03 & E04 to forge my opinion on the series
Kaylee and her son Ryan move for a job to seat her career in clothing design. Meeting Alex the first day on the job starts her off to a very good beginning to finding love.
I thoroughly enjoyed the beginning of this series. Enough breadcrumbs were left to build the story and relationship further in future episodes, which I look forward to reading. Very erotic sex scenes were another plus.
This book is written in a fast paced manner, and there isn’t much of a story line, it mostly glosses over that and jumps to the erotica scenes, but those also feel as if they fly by. This really wasn’t something I usually enjoy.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Has a great story line. Believable life with chance encounter. Relatable family dynamics. I would recommend it to everyone.
I was interested in the overall plot but I could not connect with the writing perspective. I only made it about a chapter in but the book seemed interesting. Just wasn’t for me.
I love the story both from a romantic and erotic tale. It's lovely to read a book about two girls who fall in love and are happy. I love to read about the lesbian relationship unfold and also the opposites of how the families are. It is a comforting and pleasurable read. I can't wait to read the next ones!!
A sweet love story between an introverted single mom and her outgoing partner. The love scenes were somehow both erotic and innocent. The author really has a way of making you care for the characters and what goes on in their lives. I really enjoyed the fact that she focused on the character build up, and didn't make the entire book focus on sex, like a lot of romance authors do.
