USA Today bestselling author of the Heroes of Henderson Series.

Liz's Heroes of Henderson series grew out of the New Year's Eve Anthology, Countdown To A Kiss, where the Devine Sisters of Henderson, N.C. had a bet every year at their parents' New Year's Eve ball. The sister who didn't have a date to kiss at midnight had to kiss their nerdy neighbor, Lewis Kampmueller.

Duncan James, the hero of Liz's novella in Countdown To A Kiss (which has also been published separately as Playin' Cop) is not only best friends with Lewis, but with both Brooks Bennett and Vance Evans, his fraternity brothers from NC State. Brooks and Vance are the Henderson cops who kick off the series with Good Cop and Bad Cop.

Recurring characters is the theme of the Henderson series. Each book is a complete romance in and of itself, but you won't lose touch with the couples you fall in love with. They keep playing big parts and small in following books as Brooks and Vance lead Team Henderson in finding ways to revive their small town.

"DuVal Cousin" books are an additional part of the Heroes of Henderson series, and usually are tucked in between books with numbers like 2.5 and 3.5. They can be full length novels or short novellas, and they are based on Lolly DuVal's (from Good Cop) Henderson cousins. Where the Heroes books are hero-centric, the DuVal Cousin books are heroine based.

Henderson is an actual town in North Carolina where some of Liz's favorite people were raised. Liz's version of Henderson is completely fictional since she hasn't had the pleasure of going back in nearly thirty years. But oh the fun she had while visiting there in her youth. Her memories are the perfect landscape for her contemporary romances.

Liz enjoys putting friends and readers in cameo appearances in her books. Originally from Baltimore, she spent every summer near Annapolis, Maryland in a community where dancing and romancing are literally part of its theme song. (The place where Jesse James gets banished from in Bad Cop. There is going to be a series about that place someday.)

A graduate of Wake Forest University, where she met her handsome golf-addicted husband, (who is now sporting dark glasses everywhere he goes) Liz is a mother of two grown sons (also sporting dark glasses) and a miniature Labradoodle named Isabelle. They live in the Fountain of Youth, a.k.a. Naples, FL where dancing and romancing continues on ad infinitum.

The Heroes of Henderson Series in order:
Playin' Cop (or Countdown To A Kiss if you want the whole story.)
Good Cop
Bad Cop
Taming Molly
Top Dog
Tempting Vivi
Kissing Cooper ~ A Christmas Quickie
Under Dog (Coming soon.)

Pinks finally finds his true love and his romance with Red is delicious, delightful and utterly irresistible. I love his sparkling personality, his get it done attitude and his tender heart and Red is his perfect match in every way. Feisty, gorgeous and irreverent Red keeps Pinks on his toes and her insistence on secrecy causes a whole lot of chaos. Liz Kelly’s stories have wonderful characters, southern hospitality and boatloads of charm and I can’t wait to find out what happens next in Henderson. Charles Lawrence’s nuanced narration performance is a special treat!

I have to confess, that when I started reading this book, I was a tad lost and overwhelmed because the only book of the series I had read was the Christmas quickie, Kissing Cooper .
The reason I was lost and confused was that many of the characters mentioned at the beginning had a story and a history, and I was going “cold turkey” into the series.
Since I am one to give every book a chance, I decided to not analyze too much the secondary characters, and focus on our main characters , Davis “Pinks” and Scarlett “Red”. Boy, am I glad I did that , because the more I read the more I enjoyed the book.
The two met in a bar , had an unbelievable night together, but never gave each other more than first names, or nicknames. In this case Pinks, and he called her Red.
Neither has been able to forget the other and serendipity brings them together more than once by chance, still not knowing much about each others “real” lives.
But life has a way of coming back strong , not always in a good way. Suffice is to say the book is filled with misunderstandings, half truths, people having “ six degrees of separation” , complex characters and a town that is filled with overachievers, high hopes to flourish , and a good Southern flavor added to the mix.
So go for it, give it a chance if you are a newbie to the series, or if you have read all the books, I am sure all will be delighted with the book.

Pinks finally gets his story!

Davis “Pinks” Williams is the “boy wonder” for Evan and Evans, Inc. as well as fast becoming a true friend to the extended Evans family. No matter what needs doing he can “get it done”! When Pinks went to Raleigh to blow off steam and get Tanzy out of his system he meets a woman that makes him forget every other woman he has ever been with. “Red”. They have an explosive few days together and neither one of them are the same afterwards. They keep “real life” from intruding by not sharing their names, so they are just Pinks and Red. Things between them are great until “real life” catches up to them and everybody who is important to them both.

I have really enjoyed this series and Underdog is one of my favorites in this group. This is the fourth book in this series and the story is still fresh, new and a page-turner for me. This author has an amazing talent when writing dialogue in her books. The ease of the conversations comes across very well. She doesn't bog the story down with a lot of unnecessary details. With each description the reader can clearly imagine each scene as it is laid out. When describing the joy, anger, agony, etc. the reader can very easily feel what the character is trying to convey. I can just hear the Southern Accent in my head as I read this, which adds such “flavor” to the story. I do hope there are many more Heroes to come in Henderson.

I absolutely loved this book.

If you've been reading the Heroes of Henderson series, then you know that Davis Williams--aka Pinks--has been around since the first book in the series. Since he was first introduced, he's managed to adopt Henderson as his new home, as well as make himself the ultimate personal assistant to Vance Evans. Along the way he's proven himself to be quite intelligent and a multitasking master, pulling off small miracles (and being part of a scandal or two). It hasn't been easy for him, watching his ex-girlfriend end up with the Golden Boy, or smoothing over the fallout from a disastrous one-night stand with a (secretly) married woman.

It's been heartwarming to see him fall in love with "Red", who turns out to be more interconnected with his life than either of them imagined. And my heart broke right along with his, when he finally realized just how interconnected they actually were (and not necessarily in a good way). Still, it was a sweet and funny story, full of secondary characters (and budding romances), and of course Pinks and Red got their well-deserved HEA.

All in all, a wonderful story, and I'm looking forward to more books in this series. =)

I've been waiting (not so patiently) for Pinks's book to come out. Probably since we first met Pinks in Good Cop, but even more so after Top Dog where Pinks met Red. And, oh, did they "MEET"!

I was not disappointed. Like all of the Heroes of Henderson books, there are secondary characters galore, and it is always great fun to see how those relationships are progressing and changing.

But Pinks...oh, Pinks. How we've cheered for him when he's had his heart stomped on (TWICE!) by the women of Henderson. I wanted good things for Pinks, and I knew he'd find that in Red...if they could "find" each other.

I've read all the Heroes of Henderson books and this is a great addition. How can you not love a guy named Pinks?! Pinks is young, ambitious and is bringing the dying town of Henderson, North Carolina back from the brink of death. He hasn’t been so lucky at love, however, until one night with a mysterious redhead rocks his world. When Pinks discovers the elusive “Red” is tied to the biggest scandal of his life, he’s in a no-win situation. Or is he?
Kelly writes fun, fun, fun books and watching Pinks and Red find their happy-ever-after is just pure…fun. Keep writing, Liz Kelly!

Another fun book by Liz Kelly. I laughed numerous times as the story just just keeps moving with the wonderful corky characters of Henderson. The roa acne is sweet and the boys are continually sexy and often find them cheering each other on but also frustrated to the point of smacks to the head.

Then is course you get to fall in love with the funny and always moving forward women. The Devine sisters of Henderson are so very different and yet so full of heart in the same ways. Their support and humor with each other absolutely fun to experience.

Fantastic read! This is a standalone book that reminds me of Janet Evanovich's Plum series. I got to revisit the town of Henderson and all the amazing characters. The humor kept me smiling and laughing out loud many times. Big Em is always hilarious and Vance still has my heart. Pinks and Red had center stage in this book and were superb! Scarlett was a true deb, but Davis was awesome. The perfect handsome gentleman. Book gifted by author.

Keep them coming. I could read a million more books about the Heroes of Henderson. They are fun and easy and I love all the characters. Read them all in order, though, or you'll be lost. There is so much background that you'll miss.

Right from the start this was a freight train out of control waiting for the crash, lucky enough the carnage between the characters wasn't too bad, that it had a HEA ending. Just loving all these characters.
