Kitty: Bride of Hawaii by Janelle Daniels is #50 in the unprecedented 50-Book American Mail-Order Brides series.
Kitty Jones agreed to become a mail-order bride in Hawaii to escape her killer, but when Warren Castle, sets eyes on her, he vows she’ll never marry anyone but him. When danger follows Kitty to her new home, Warren and Kitty must trust each other or risk losing everything.
Amazing.....simply amazing.....This last bride book has one of the most erotic scenes in it without graphic sex! The storm scene. This is suspenseful and engaging and simply an outstanding read. I love Janelle Daniels writing and of the series there have been strong stories this is the most awesome read. I love stories of old hawaii especially James Michener's Hawaii ....I swear that Warren is related to Rafer Hoxworth the captain that stole my heart .....thank you
It was a good book, in some places it was dragged out a lot of fillers. But other then that it was good I would definitely read more book by Janelle Daniels..
Intrigue, romance, suspense and hope, laughter and raw human need. This writer grasped your soul and insisted on you learning what would become of the characters
Kitty has been hiding. Running and hiding. She was born illegitimate but her father loved her, cared for her. When he passed, that all changed. For some reason her half-brother wanted her dead. All she could do is hide. She had been at the factory 2 months went it burned down. She immediately agreed to becoming a mail order bride and sought the furthest place away, Hawaii. She traveled far to get to the coast and then took a boat to the island. On that boat is where she met Warren Castle. They couldn’t deny the attraction, the longing. But she was affianced to another. When she arrived, they were both heartbroken, but she had made a promise. Then she found out her fiancé had died. She still couldn’t turn to Warren. He was a businessman and of wealth and importance. Her illegitimacy would stand in the way. He agreed to hire her as his secretary while hoping he could slowly win her over. That changed quickly when her past and danger discovered where she was. He would do anything to protect her, his love. It’s beautiful and sweet. A fantastic ending to this series!
The 51st book in the American Mail Order Brides series is wonderful. (The first book set up the series and is not dedicated to a state). This book could be standalone, but I read all the other books in the series in order. It's quite interesting to see how the culture was in Hawaii at the turn of the century, and the relationship between the two main characters is entertaining to see unfold. I don't typically care for plotlines that have antagonists that try to cause harm to characters but this was a compelling plat and very enjoyable.
I really like Janelle Daniels stories. This has well paced suspense, and good timing. It is a fairly quick read and yet satisfying. The characters are well developed and likable when appropriate. I read the last book of this series first because it was in Hawaii. I dont know if i want to get the other 50 books, I will be tempted.
I put off reading this book as Hawaii just didn't sound like a good storyline, instead it was among my favorite in this series! Couldn't help but wonder if she would inherit her brothers share? Beautiful story!
Kitty: Bride of Hawaii (American Mail-Order Bride #50) By: Janelle Daniels 4/5 stars
Kitty has had an unconventional life. She is the illegitimate daughter of a billionaire railroad baron & a house maid. But her father loved her and didn’t automatically cast her out. He paid for her upbringing with nannies & governesses and later, also sent her to finishing school. Even though the schooling was almost useless, as she more than likely wouldn’t find an upper class husband with her illegitimate status. But nonetheless she was educated in how to run a household & plan parties and all the other things required by a wife of a man of position. But when her father dies, her older, legitimate half-brother tries to kill her, sending her on the run. She becomes a working woman and eventually loses her job in the factory fire. She knows that she needs to get as far away from her brother as possible, so she chooses a groom that lives and works in Hawaii, in hopes that her brother will give up.
Warren is the owner of a sugar plantation in Hawaii and frequently travels to San Francisco to do business and meet with his partner. Lately there has been pressure on him to marry, as it will be better for business. But he meets Kitty aboard one of the plantation’s ships sailing from San Francisco to Hawaii. After several interactions he’s determined to marry her, even though she is engaged to his foreman. Once he puts his mind to something, he always accomplishes it and marrying Kitty is no different.
Kitty is attracted to Warren and has built a connection with him during their days on the ocean. But she knows that even though they are well-matched in most all aspects that he is still head and shoulders above her station because of her illegitimacy. But Warren does not care and will not be deterred.
Lovely story! I'm so grateful for the focus on self worth! Very well written and beautifully described! I've been to Hawaii and could picture it all, including the luau!!
The last entry in the 50 book American mail-order bride series. Kitty is the illegitimate daughter of a wealthy man and a maid. Her father loves her and sends her to a posh school to learn to be a teacher or a governess. When her father dies she is no longer being taken care of. In fact, her half-brother attempts to have her killed o she runs away to Lawrence, Massachusetts and gets a job as a seamstress at Brown's Textile Mill until it burns down. She then, like her roommates, answers an ad to become a mail-order bride: in Hawaii. While on board the ship taking her to her fiance', she gets really seasick and meets the boss of her intended. They start to have feelings for each other but won't dishonor the groom. Upon arrival in Hawaii Kitty finds out that her fiance' has died. Warren, the owner of the sugar plantation, wants to marry Kitty but due to her illegitimacy she doesn't feel worthy of him. Enter Warren's mother; a mean and spiteful woman who resents another woman usurping her authority. I, personally, wanted to reach into the pages and punch her. The storm at sea and the final showdown had my heart racing. Ms. Daniels has written a very great book and a fitting finale to a great series.
A BRIDE ON THE RUN I enjoyed this final mail order bride story in the American Mail-Order Brides Series. The story is full of mystery and suspense as Kitty has been hiding out after the death of her father and several attacks have been made on her life. She was born an illegitimate daughter to a billionaire father who cared about her, and gave her advantages in proper schooling, but now her half-brother is after her, and she must get as far away as possible. Agreeing to become a mail-order bride to a man in Hawaii should put her far enough away to be safe, but trouble will follow. Meeting a man, Warren Castle, along her voyage and having an instant attraction doesn’t help, especially when she has agreed to be another man’s bride. The plot is intriguing with a great cast of characters, lots of angst, heart-stopping scenes and a vision of Hawaii, the people and culture all tied up into a fascinating story. Sometimes two people, who are perfect for each other, can meet under extenuating circumstances. It is how they handle the situation will determine their future.
The final book in a series of 50 books. I have enjoyed each and every of of them. The idea of of the story line was truly amazing and having the authors continue this throughout each and every book was wonderful. I will miss these girls.
This story made one turn after another, but kept me reading to see how it would end. Good character development. I felt the sea sickness as Kitty crossed the ocean to the islands. I enjoyed the details of the setting. Lots of suspense and action.
This series was my first experience with multiple authors working together to write a series on a large scale. I enjoyed every book in the series and found several new authors that I hadn't read before.
