Chevonne: Bride of Oklahoma is book number forty-six in the unprecedented 50-book American Mail-Order Brides series.

Trey Garner doesn't have time for a wife, so to stop his mother's harpings, he enters into a marriage of convenience with a mail order bride. He's not looking for a real marriage, he's got more important things to do ... like work on his secret project. A project he intends to keep secret from everyone, even his new bride.
Will Chevonne and Trey's secrets keep them from realizing how perfect they are for each other?
USA Today bestselling author, Leighann Dobbs, discovered her passion for writing after a twenty year career as a software engineer. She lives in New Hampshire with her husband Bruce, their trusty Chihuahua mix Mojo and beautiful rescue cat, Kitty.
Her book "Dead Wrong" won the "Best Mystery Romance" award at the 2014 Indie Romance Convention.
Her book "Ghostly Paws" was the 2015 Chanticleer Mystery & Mayhem First Place category winner in the Animal Mystery category.
Chevonne, like so many of her friends, hasn't many options after the factory where she's worked burns down. She decides to become a mail-order bride to a rancher in Oklahoma. She has a secret so being in a marriage-of-convenience suits her just fine. Trey doesn't need or want a wife but to get his mother off his back he sends for a mail-order bride. He has a secret so he only wants a marriage-of-convenience. Slowly, they start to care about each other but misunderstanding and wrong conclusions separate them. Will they be able to mend fences and learn to trust each other or are those fences too broken? Ms. Dobbs tells a very good story and includes some caveats I'm sure will make you smile.
I really had high hopes for this book I was excited to read it since I lived in Oklahoma for a while. My excitement faded and am disappointed Oklahoma how so much history the only state that did the land run (I think could be wrong on that) the author had a great opportunity to mention the red dirt but didn't there was so many ways this book could have been written, don't get me wrong the book was good just not oklahoma.. :(
Everyone has secrets in this book. The key to finding out is to read this wonderful little book! A woman has a secret, a man has a secret, a couple has a secret....but the biggest secret that isn't a secret is a couple that are truly in love with each other -it's the secret of the heart!
It took me a bit to get into this world and concentrate on the story line, but once I got there, I did enjoy the crazy twists and turns. Just goes to show, communication is the key.
Chevonne and Tyler both have their secrets but feel that a marriage of convenience was the way to go. Lots of confusion about what each are doing almost breaks then apart but love wins out.
Kindle Unlimited, Leighann Dobbs writes under Leighann Dobbs, Annie Dobbs and (soon) L.A. Dobbs but her real name {not sure if she writes under that one} is Lee Dobbins, Hazel Martin Mysteries only one I found for this type with her, she has not made sure that terms used match the British terms as well as in other areas for that period of architecture and assorted styles.
The Notch Cozy Mystery Series {5 out as of this writing} and the Blackbore Sisters Cozy Mysteries are not on Kindle Unlimited which as said before about 1 & 7 {the only ones given free, sure would not have bought them} and ditto for Ghostly Paws which is 1 of 5 at this time but did get others free over time.
While some of her other books are Kindle Unlimited none of the Blackmoore Sisters Cozy Mysteries are which doesn't matter to me as read #1 and #7 and was way underwhelmed. Leighann Dobbs writes under Leighann Dobbs, Annie Dobbs and (soon) L.A. By the way, bakeries and other food service places don't run like that. Badly needs to proof things, it's messing up the flow of the book, which my computer reads to me, so that's bad. As for these, it's not that the situations couldn't happen, it's in the telling of the story, with unlikable unbelievable characters and situations, again.
Yet another goodreads won't hide it don't want to see the badly proofed badly plotted poor excuse for bad soft core porn crap. The 'historical' ones are like that and so are the some of the non cozy mysteries and some of the sorta but not really mysteries because can't write, etc ad nauseum. The most any of them got was 2 changed to 1 for crap cozy, some get a 1 which means basically crappy soft porn 'romance' etc.
3 in Silver Hollow Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series so far which are on kindle unlimited, 3 in the Moosamuck Island Mysteries , 5 in the Mystic Notch Cozy Mysteries so far {not ku}, Blackmore Sisters has 7 {not ku}, Hazel Martin Mysteries only has 1 so far, Lexy Baker Cozy Mystery series 12 so far is on ku. Others.including Scandals and Spies Book series so far 4 which are basically romance soft core porn dreck but hey you can get them on ku. Witches of Hawthorne Grove 1 so far,Cevonne Bride of Oklahoma, Unexpected Series 4 so far ku.
The Lexy Baker Cozy Mystery Series By the way, bakeries and other food service places don't run like that. Badly needs to proof things, it's messing up the flow of the book, which my computer reads to me, so that's bad. Copy/paste fill in the blank seems to be pretty much what she is doing in her books, which wouldn't be half as bad if the plots and ploys and actions were believable at all.Just change the name for a book and maybe change the series list under, and you are right back to copy paste same old same old.
NOTE: I specifically mentioned certain of the 'books'/series were achieving soft core crap status, and specifically said which ones those were, reference AGAIN the above quoted review, and did not specifically mention the blackmore ones as that, BUT and had not mentioned that had went back and rated all no talent no plot cardboard charactered 'stories' listed above as 1 as well. I will change the original review to reflect that, but it is still a 1, and MY review of the crap stands.
This is the 46th story of the American Mail Order Brides series and I have looked forward to reading this book from the beginning (I have chosen to read the books in order which is the order in which they entered statehood). I live in Oklahoma and dearly love it's unique history. This particular story has each character entering into the marriage as a marriage of convenience and each also has a secret project. The story resolves without made up drama or wacky circumstances. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.
I truly loved reading your book because I love historical fiction and historical romance books. I love how you add adventure plus the romance. I also love reading about the history of states whether I have been there or not. Both the Bride and Groom were looking for a marriage of convenience but what they got was so much more in my estimate.
What time will Chevonne do when she discovers the things she has in common with her groom? What will he do when he starts sensing a common attraction? The significance of butterflies and the beautiful relationship Chevonne shared with her Gram is absolutely beautiful. I also really enjoyed the relationships in Trey's family, and among the townspeople.
This was a very good book, but I don't know why either one of them was hiding everything from each other, his folks knew he was experimenting with stuff! No matter as it was among my favorite in this series!
I gave it a three because the plot on inventors was original and different! Some humor but spending almost the whole book on secrets they were keeping was a little boring,
Chevonne never planned on getting married, which is one reason why she was working at the textile mill, so that she would have her independence. But she also had a plan, an invention that her and her grandmother worked on, and she wanted to see it come to fruition and make a business out of it. After the fire, and losing her job, Chevonne has to marry. But she is ardently protective over her traveling case since it has her plans in it and she refuses to even trust her new husband.
Trey doesn’t exactly have time for a wife. But his mother keeps trying to set him up with the daughter of her friend. To finally put a stop to his mother, he decides a mail-order bride would be the best set-up for him. Since he’s an inventor, he also doesn’t want a nosy wife, who will ask him what he’s doing and want to know everything, like a local girl would. That’s another reason he chose a mail-order bride.
Trey and Chevonne both have suspicions about each other, what they are doing and who they may be conversing with on their own time. Even though they don’t have a conventional marriage, their suspicions could ruin what they do have.
I was very pleased to read this story. I have read many the Blackmore sisters etc., but I love a good old mail order bride romance! The author always gets it right.
