Rate this book
From the shows we watch to the ads for our favorite products, mind control is in everything. It is in the conversations that we have with friends in family. We see it when we go to the doctor's office. There is always something that is trying to influence the way that we think and the way that we act. We might not realize it, since we’ve become so sensitized to the feeling. But this guidebook is going to spend some time showing you the various ways that mind control can work.

•Mind manipulation for influence and control.
•Who can be at risk for mind control?
•Some of the ways that you are manipulated in your daily life.
•Sneaky ways that you can use mind control to get what you want.

Definitely “Not” what I expected on this topic

I wanted to get a glimpse of how someone would describe deception and psychological warfare, mind manipulation. I picked up this book for a read.

I am coming from a high degree in forensic psychology; therefore, I like to read factual books on the subject. I did not find truth anywhere in these pages. This was very sad and I was a bit uncomfortable with the way this topic was portrayed to the unaware public.

I took some time to write this review and thought about the ideas the author was trying to present, so I was not coming from an angry viewpoint. Just trying to defend the psychological field and being helpful, for people that are not into the subject.

This had no facts; no real data for me to go further to see the sources for confirmation. The Author mentioned two psychologists in the book. There were no links; in fact, I could not find any information on them or the author herself. Nothing! I wanted to see the author’s background in psychology.

No internet presence on amazon or goodreads. If there is something-please let me know where to find something about the author.

The book reads like a dictionary with no space in between to digest the information. The book does not do justice to the field, while spewing opinions that are not correct, glimpsing their own bias about the subject. This, in my opinion is wrong.

I was very surprised to read the 5 star reviews that are on her book. I could (literally) not finish the book, since it bothered me that much about the information she is touting about this delicate field, and people are reading this while being misinformed about the subject. The Author also has books in the marketing and social media sites. Totally different ballgame.

“Full Definition of SOCIAL ENGINEERING: management of human beings in accordance with their place and function in society: applied social science.” Merriam-Webster dictionary.

Dyer states “Propaganda and manipulation targeted at children are thus the most effective and the most insidious, and the solutions cannot come through a rearrangement of chemicals from one form to another, based entirely on the evolutionary biological model.” (2015)

In the American Psychological Association website, Morris and DePaulo found, “Deception cues debated-Are appearances deceiving? The evidence is mixed. DePaulo and co-author Wendy Morris, a psychology graduate student at the University of Virginia, conducted a meta-analysis into the possible predictors of deception for "Deception Detection in Forensic Contexts" (forthcoming from Cambridge University Press).

They warn readers that detecting deception is an inexact science, but note an association between lying and increased pupil size, an indicator of tension and concentration. Second, they find that people listening to liars think they seem more nervous than truth-tellers, perhaps because their voices are pitched higher. And liars are more likely than truth-tellers to press their lips together. On the other hand, they note, liars don't appear to be more fidgety, nor do they blink more or have less-relaxed posture. According to DePaulo and Morris, only when liars are more highly motivated--when the stakes are higher--do they seem unusually still and make notably less eye contact with listeners.” (APA, Adelson, 2004).

I have included research data for anyone, if they would like to know more about the subject. Author, please include links to your data in the books.

This book was okay. It goes into manipulation and deception but was written from a very basic level. More like it's someone's opinion or experience. Not that that is bad. I did get a lot from it. Short and basic.
