“An action packed fantasy sure to please fans of Morgan Rice’s previous novels, along with fans of works such as The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini…. Fans of Young Adult Fiction will devour this latest work by Rice and beg for more.” --The Wanderer, A Literary Journal (regarding Rise of the Dragons)
The #1 Bestselling series, with over 400 five star reviews on Amazon!
NIGHT OF THE BOLD is book #6—and the final installment—in Morgan Rice’s bestselling epic fantasy series KINGS AND SORCERERS (which begins with RISE OF THE DRAGONS, a free download)!
In NIGHT OF THE BOLD, Kyra must find a way to free herself from Marda and return to Escalon with the Staff of Truth. If she does, awaiting her will be the most epic battle of her life, as she will need to face off against Ra’s armies, a nation of trolls, and a flock of dragons. If her powers, and the weapon, are strong enough, her mother awaits her, ready to reveal the secrets of her destiny, and of her birth.
Duncan must make an epic stand against Ra’s armies once and for all. Yet even as he fights the greatest battles of his life, leading to a final stand in The Devil’s Gluch, he cannot expect the dark trickery that Ra has awaiting him.
In the Bay of Death, Merk and King Tarnis’ daughter must join forces with Alec and the warriors of the Lost Isles to fight off the dragons. They must find Duncan and unite to save Escalon, yet Vesuvius has resurfaced, and they cannot anticipate the treachery awaiting them.
In the epic finale to Kings and Sorcerers, the most dramatic battles, weapons and sorcery all lead to a breathtaking, unexpected conclusion, filled with both heartbreaking tragedy and inspiring re-birth.
With its strong atmosphere and complex characters, NIGHT OF THE BOLD is a sweeping saga of knights and warriors, of kings and lords, of honor and valor, of magic, destiny, monsters and dragons. It is a story of love and broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is fantasy at its finest, inviting us into a world that will live with us forever, one that will appeal to all ages and genders.
“If you thought that there was no reason left for living after the end of the Sorcerer’s Ring series, you were wrong. Morgan Rice has come up with what promises to be another brilliant series, immersing us in a fantasy of trolls and dragons, of valor, honor, courage, magic and faith in your destiny. Morgan has managed again to produce a strong set of characters that make us cheer for them on every page.…Recommended for the permanent library of all readers that love a well-written fantasy.” --Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos (regarding Rise of the Dragons)

How do I even begin to describe the train wreck this entire series is? Let's begin with the word shriek... has the author not heard of a thesaurus? Dragons shriek, warriors shriek, trolls shriek. It's a lot of shrieking. Secondly the continuity of location is awful. The sailors seemingly sail through land at one point. The troll king is stranded on an island at the end of a battle then he runs back to his army?? No boat needed? Third, if an author is going to have sentient creature like dragons and horses that some how run across a country on their own with all their tack then she must give them a role in her book. No one eats, or sleeps at all. It's infuriating. Lastly the plot is so flat. The enemy is 100% evil and his army is as well. Why wouldn't they free the slave army and kill the evil guy? But, no... slaughter a million men that is way better. Ugg. I don't usually have so much to say... this series is just awful.
There is a lot of potential, which is why I started the second book. I do not exactly know why I started the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th book though. I seem to have this curiosity issue. There were so many mistakes in both writing and plot that I feel ripped off for actually paying for the books. I am not a native English speaker, but even I have higher standards concerning variation in word use. Most of the language was low level and then once in a while there would be these monstrous sentences that kept me blinking for a minute or two.
Talent for making up stories is a requirement for writing books, but it takes more than that tot write a book deserving of our hard earned money.
So 1 star for the main plot and 1 for feeling. Correct writing, better subplots and editing would have landed her the other three.
Read the whole series but each book was less than the last. Some characters were cool but poorLy developed. Felt like I was reading the cliff notes of an epic series.... Fast paced and fun but so many cool races and ideas that were briefly developed where expansion would have pulled me in deeper
What a truly terrible series. The first book was great and made me want to devour the series. The second book was ok and I wanted to see where things were going....things quickly went downhill in book 3. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING from here on out repeats itself. Characters fight the same battles, keep using the same tricks and their enemies keep falling on it. We literally have a bunch of teenagers with no experience or training kill THOUSANDS of enemies. Morgan Rice's use of hyperbole is shockingly, nauseatingly over the top. There is clearly no editor, as evidenced by horrible grammar,, plot holes, repetitions and blissfully ignoring when characters die, just for them to reappear a few chapters later.
The only reason I finished this series was because I had to know how this finished and I can't leave a book/series unfinished. What a glorious waste of time.
The six part series in these books were full of fantastic tales of knighthood, honor, dragons, and other mystical creatures. I loved this series since it involved everything I love in a book. I read all 6 within 1 week. Very exciting and the main character was a girl turned woman to fulfill her destiny.
Buku ke-6 dan terakhir dari siri novel Kings and Sorcerers, bergenre high fantasy (sword and sorcery). Pergh... berjaya jugak pulun baca 6 buku siri ni dlm masa 1 minggu. Sebab ending buku 1-5 tergantung (bersambung), jadi kena baca semua 6 buku kalau nak tahu endingnya.
This book is a strong ending to a series that is generally very enjoyable, despite a few stumbles along the way.
I didn't notice any of the continuity errors that marred some of the previous books, and I enjoyed seeing the characters reach their respective destinies.
Battles are well described, and the main battles here are just very cool to read. I especially liked how one army used the mountain terrain.
I still feel the romantic relationships were a bit too fairytale to mesh with the overall tone of the book. And far too many chapters end with some variation of "They knew they were going to die." But clearly, this wasn't that big a problem as I still managed to finish the series and enjoyed it immensely.
It needs a good editor to sort out those continuity problems. But if you can overlook that, it's well worth a read, and the first book is attainable for free both as text and as an audio book, so it costs nothing to give it a go.
It takes strength of character to be bold enough to do the RIGHT thing, to stand up for what you believe in instead of taking the easy way out. Personal sacrifice is always the price paid. Power comes with responsibility, and the level of responsibility should reflect the level of power. This wonderfully written fantasy tale gripped me from early in the first book and still hasn't let me go, even not at the end. It's been a journey of pre-teens, teens & young adults coming of age and finding who they are and their place in the world during the final battle of "good vs evil". All I can say is "READ THE BOOKS"! Given the message, the characters' age ranges, I'd recommend this series to ages 13+ (might even go as low as 10 depending on the maturity level of the child).
Finito.
I liked the book because of the characters. Well thought out. I would recommend this book to a young audience. I do have problems with it. If you have an editor( you should) they are surely not helping you. Too many repeated phrases, everyone is going to die every breath they take..... All the time. I mean how many times can the phrase " and they looked from the corner of their eye and saw movement"??? I like the meat of the story but please get a new editor that will bring things to your attention. Your a good writer with good ideas but........... I know this is way past due but I was reading it for a second time.... This time to my grandson....he loved it!
It was a really good series. Started with an audio book and was hooked. Each book kept me engaged and attached to the storyline and characters. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end and the last 2 books did it for me. Way too many inexcusable errors that became distracting and eventually disappointed. While the the typos and grammar mistakes were bothersome, it was the author's inability to keep character names with the right characters and city names with the right city that broke it all. Not everyone can be a great author, and it is Morgan Rice's carelessness that will prevent this good author from being great.
At least I can say I finished it. I really need to start being OK with not finishing series. This series was full of unnecessary action just for the sake of no downtime. It’s basically a story of a limited amount of good guys facing off against a endless stream of bad guys. And somehow the good guys always come out on top. There was no character building. I found myself rolling my eyes every time I read the words “suddenly” or “all of a sudden”. Every time that one of the main characters was near death, something would miraculously happen to save them. All in all, just not the best series. It started off with so much promise.
Same rating as Book 5; and for the same reason - the proofing of these books is farcical! Character & place names quoted wrongly, grammar mistakes and even whole words missing! Whoever is responsible for these problems should be fired ( maybe hire a 12 year old in their place ).
I have tried to read past these issues and ( mostly ) succeeded. The whole series is just the right mix of tragedy and triumph. I will still continue to read Morgan's books - I see that Book 8 in "Of Crowns and Glory" is due out in a few weeks. I'm going to pre-order as soon as possible. Here's to the next time.
This is the second series I've read. This one, I had to re-read some things. I found myself pulled out of the fantasy by missing reality. Kyle is captured in one but the next he's not. Horses can't run for hours and need sleep and food. I kept asking why the character felt it thought that as no explanation was provided. Normally, I'm held in suspense by the downtime of the details. This was just a mad dash of action where someone always sure they were dying. It was a wonderful series and I enjoyed it nonetheless.
A great ending to a great series - I was so lucky to have been given this...thank you.
This had all the ingredients of a sword and sorcery fantasy - heroes, villains, monsters, dragons, magic and battles at every turn. The cast of characters each played their part well, Kyra at the centre of it all. It was imaginative with some wonderful descriptions of the various regions.
It does need editing so to rid it of repetition and errors, but the writing style was easy to read and fast-paced - certainly a page-turner.
Thoroughly enjoyable and a highly recommended adventure.
This is the final book in this series. Overall the series is 4 stars. If you’re all about epic battles, many cliffhangers and some suspenseful fighting this is for you. There is also a lot of character development throughout and I really enjoyed the multiple POV’s. However the plot holes were pretty glaring throughout the entirety of the series and I felt some details were just thrown out there without any context. Personally I think Aiden wins the show for most awesome story throughout the series!
This was a nice way to end this series. Despite the ever present editing issues, I was thoroughly engrossed in Kyra and her family. From the first book of the series, I have been eagerly turning the pages and rooting for the forces of good and cringing inwardly as evil threatened. Would definitely recommend this series to anyone who lives Morgan Rice and her brand of fantasy.
I read the entire series, one book after the next, and loved it. The entire series was excellently crafted, book by book and chapter by chapter. It was by turns thrilling and searing, wonderful and terrible, magical and soul stirring. I cannot wait to read more of the author's books and hope I'm around to read more tales of Escalon in the future.
Blasting through this series by Morgan Rice. Very entertaining book. A little bit of Tolkien and her other books. Maybe it wouldn’t be so obvious to other people, but I’ve read a lot of Morgan Rice books in the last couple months, and one thing that seemed to really annoy me was a lot of repeated phrases. I think Morgan Rice would do well to have a better editor! The series must be read in order!
