A challenge met.
A calling sought.
A faith required.

When Mara, Oathtaker to the ranking twin members of the Select, suffers an injury, her charges—Reigna and Eden—seek to determine their callings, while Dixon suffers over the potential loss of his beloved.

As their allies disperse in response to a growing threat to their homeland, and as the forces of evil set out to destroy them, the twins journey across The Tearless. There, in fulfillment of prophecy, they face three challenges.

A single misstep may bring them to ruin; perseverance, to glory.

To triumph, they must first believe.

Finished this book,starts out quick-pace.That I like,then for a while it's slow almost sluggish.
Then by the end it starts picking up again.
Now,the characters were well done. Props to Patricia Reding for that.
And I like the world creation,it was just a little hard to get through in parts.
I will keep reading this series.

Select continues the story of Mara and Dixon and all the characters of Oathtaker, and many more for you to enjoy. There are prophecies and more magic, but again, the characters are what keep you reading. Reding’s storytelling enhances a drama, a plot, built around human emotions and needs. You will recognize all the bits of humanity in her story. You will revel in their commitments to each other all while living in a fantasy world full of danger and evil. I could not get to this book fast enough after Oathtaker.

Select is a masterful continuation of a truly breathtaking and inspiring journey into a magnificent world that blends mystery and magic with undeniable truth and unfailing love. This new story has allowed me to delve deeper into the lives of each precious and unforgettable character in order to develop a greater appreciation and respect for this impassioned and beautiful storyline. It has been such a huge pleasure to revisit not only the amazing characters but also the brilliance of their deeply detailed and thoroughly stunning world. This is an epic adventure that you will not want to miss out on!

Regina and Eden have heard all of their lives that they are very special people. They have been tirelessly training in numerous areas of life and everyone around them has sworn their life to them for their safety above all. They understand these words, but they don’t truly appreciate their deeper meaning since they have lived such a sheltered life. They know enough about their history, but none of it is first hand and so it doesn’t feel necessarily real to them. Whey an undeniable pull comes upon them to leave the only home they have ever known to venture into the world in order to seek and earn their rightful place, they are understandably torn in two. When unforeseen circumstances prove to be a catalyst in pushing them toward their mysterious destiny, will they follow their heart and move forward into the unknown, or will they cower in fear and hide only to be confronted with a greater horror?

Without a doubt, I have come to fall in love with the wonderful characters that I have come to discover along this extraordinary journey. This part of the journey gave me greater insight to my favorite characters while allowing me to appreciate those that I only just met the first time around. Each represents a part of a whole that if not fulfilled would leave them all extremely vulnerable. No person is less important than another for we all have our own unique and precious gifts. To see just how well this story mirrors real life is actually very frightening at times. We should take the invaluable truths from these pages and learn to open our eyes and our mind and our heart to what the Good One would tell us, show us, and teach us along our own life journey. What a truly spectacular life we would have and what an incredible impact we would have to His plan!

Patricia Reding has proven without a doubt that she has been gifted an absolutely extraordinary talent that she has lovingly and passionately nurtured. Her words will instantly transport you to a world beyond your imagination that will challenge your senses, your mind, and above all your heart. There is so much more going on than a mere journey being unfolded before your eyes. There are truths both hidden and obvious that show themselves to you in the hopes that you will take them and live them every day of your life. This is a story that needs to be declared from the rooftops and the highest mountains. Truth that is shared becomes a blessing to both the giver and the receiver. Let us not fear to share that which our Good One asks us to share with those around us.

This was a good sequel! I liked it more than the first which is always good. There was a 'leap' of 20 years and there were many more characters introduced as well. Mara lost her memory and I learnt more about her which gave her more depth in a way. While I knew a little about Mara's...uh...early life and family from Oathtaker, meeting them added to Mara because I saw a new side to her which was quite interesting. Also, I felt so sad for Dixon.
Regina and Eden were grown up now and it was fun finding out what they were like. Both had a really good relationship and they were both interesting. Lucy was quite annoying and even after I found out...umm..that she had wanted Regina and Eden to I still found her to be very annoying.
The plot was interesting and I liked it. The different perspectives worked but there were so many characters that I feel like some of them were not really needed. Like Broden. I feel like he was there just for the sake of being there.
Overall, I feel like this was an interesting read and I liked.

Coming of age is a struggle for all. But, to do so as someone meant to fulfill a prophecy is challenging beyond comprehension. The 7th born daughter of a 7th born mother, along with her twin “the one who is, but isn’t,” face a great calling in this enchanting novel in which ancient prophecies are realized. The girls must triumph over evil while facing possible death to complete the destiny which has been foretold. They struggle with becoming young women while also fighting evil forces bent upon destroying their homeland and its inhabitants.

Author Patricia Reding thrills and delights readers with elements of excitement and adventure in a world where magic abounds. Readers are introduced to the most wretched villains as well as delightfully charming heroes and heroines. In a tale which flows effortlessly, this delightful story is a most enjoyable read which spurs the imagination and makes one's heart race with anticipation.

What an outstanding read! The first book was terrific, the second is marvelous; we wait with great anticipation for the next offering in this dynamic series.

This is the 2nd book in the series (Oathtaker is the first in the series). We find that Mara who is the Oathtaker to the twins has lost her memory and she has forgotten who she is, why she is there at the compound and she doesn't remember those around her. As she sets off to go back home with her beloved Dixon (who she thinks is just going to take her home as her guide) she starts to remember bits and pieces of her life. During the time Mara and Dixon are away the twins, Eden and Regina, decide to go on an adventure and all I am going to say is they had one heck of one and I wouldn't want to be them at all! The twins met someone who wants to help them while they are in the midst of troubles in their adventure but will they take it? What will happen to Mara? Will she ever get all her memory back and what will happen if she doesn't who will take charge of the twins?
This book has everything I was looking for...fantasy, mystery, love. I recommend this book and if I could give it more then 5 stars I would!!!!

It's been over 2 1/2 years since I read the first book in the Oathtaker series, but I remembered a lot from the book, and there is enough - but not too much - flashing back, remembering, etc. in this book to bring me back up to speed on the characters and plot thus far. I enjoyed the first book in the series, but I loved this one. The story picks up about 18 - 20 years after the first ends. It wastes no time introducing the multiple plot threads, and I was completely engrossed for over 400 pages in following them to their resolution. It's a book of good and evil, with some romance to add another dimension. It's a book of strong female characters, magic, and a world that is like our world but also unlike our world. It's a fantasy with a message, but the message is not conveyed at the expense of a great plot, settings, characters and all the wonderful details that engross readers in a book.

Patricia Reding has done it again. She has written an epic tale that will leave you satisfied and imploring her for more at the same time. Without a doubt, she is an extraordinarily gifted author. “Select” is an ingenious continuation of a truly inspiring and epic journey into an elaborate world that blends magic and mystery. You experience unconditional dedication to and for the twins as well as an unfailing love. Her words instantly take you to another world. Reding develops individual characters so well you feel like you have known them from the beginning and each individual character is important to the story line as a whole. I loved learning more intricate details about characters from the first book, “Oathtaker,” and meeting the new characters. This is by far my new favorite book. At least until part three is released.

Despite not being a fan of fantasy books, having met the cast of characters in Oathtaker I couldn't resist finding out what happens to them in this second book in the trilogy! I was suitably rewarded with a gripping tale that masterfully expands on the storylines and characters of the first book, while introducing new characters and storylines that fit superbly with those that I had already encountered. There is also a very helpful synopsis of Oathtaker provided for anyone who might want to refresh their memory. I'm now looking forward to the third book in the trilogy!

This was a goodreads win for me. I read it as a stand alone book. I found the synopsis of the first novel in the trilogy very helpful. It was easy to understand the characters and I would look for the first book to read and of course the final book in the series - excellent read.
