Better Than the Best

Rate this book
*Originally published under pen name Amabel Daniels*

A new beginning. Turning a leaf. All that crap.

After her divorce and the death of one of her patients, an ER nurse, Kelly Newland, searches for a fresh start in the little town of Churchston. As she learns to accept her failures in life, she befriends some of the locals, except for one disgruntled man, the hero everybody loves to hate.

He could feel their stares on his back, their judgments hovering over their heads.

Will Parker suffers from PTSD, and as the black sheep of the sleepy lakeside community, he struggles to get back up on his feet. Initially, Kelly and Will mix like oil and water, but as a series of dangerous incidents strike the people closest to them, their antagonism turns from cool to hot. It is only when they realize it is impossible to resist each other that a killer closes in on them, threatening the love they've dared to find.

Losing your spouse to another is heartbreaking, having to hide out in your bathroom as they “do the deed,” is, well…gross and this is exactly where we meet Kelly, hiding out wearing only a towel while her husband carries on like a stud muffin in their bed. Fast forward as our girl, a newly minted divorcee takes off to find a new life, away from her old one, away from the nightmares of a the accidental death of a patient under her care as a nurse.

Was it fate that brought her to small town of Churchston or some warped sense of cosmic humor? Determined to make lemonade out of the lemons life has been pitching at her, she finds several colorful and quirky friends as she begins her new life as a restaurant delivery girl and a boat rental girl on the beach. Only one dark cloud seems to be raining on her otherwise mostly sunny parade. Will Parker is as anti-social as a man can be. Coarse, crude and standoffish on a good day, this ex-soldier suffers from survivor’s guilt, PTSD and the heartbreak of being there when his brother and best friend was killed in war. Top that off with the head town, um, “crazed female dog” gunning for him at every turn, yeah, he has some painful memories, enough to crush any man, but he stands tall. Alone and tall and hating himself for living.

Picture clash of the Titans, if one of the were an injured soldier and the other, an outspoken sarcastic woman, both carrying enough baggage to make a bellboy swoon. Determined, Kelly is going to thaw this ice king out, although she can’t for life of herself figure out why, or is it that she will not admit why?.

And then things started happening, people around her or associated with start having accidents, being killed and she begins to feel she is the link, with good reason, but who is after her and why is she a target? Just when she and Will finally seem to be on the same page and their chemistry is finally coming together to make love and not war, the unthinkable happens …

It was a good day for readers when Amabel Daniels published Better Than the Best. Romance, sunny beaches, danger lurking, even on the waters, this is edge of your seat reading as a shadowy figure in their own side story finally breaches the light. Hang on to your shorts, this is suspense, humor, war and love, all rolled together in one fabulous package. Kelly is a sprite, wicked sarcastic, endearingly warm hearted and protective of those around her, a pint-sized powerhouse, for sure! Will, can be a little cavemanish, way too gruff, and downright rude, but beneath all that beats the heart of loneliness and pain. Toss in the town manwhore, the nasty clique of rough women, the gentle and kindhearted man and a town of small-minded idiots and trust me, the evil lurking in the dark takes this tale over the top of the gem pile for me! Great dialogue, intense conflict and a game of chicken played with emotions, this is non-stop entertainment!

I received this copy from Amabel Daniels in exchange for my honest review.

Better than the Best is a fun, quick read. I tend to be drawn to more dark and demented story lines, avoiding happily ever after endings, but I have to admit for a romance suspense novel this was a real page-turner. Amabel Daniels had me hooked from the first chapter.

Kelly, an ER nurse in Atlanta, just found her husband of 2 years cheating in her own bed.
And after a patient died, and she was threatened by his daughter, she’s not really all that fond of her job anymore either.
She leaves town and wants to start a new life in Myrtle Beach, but she gets stuck in a little tourist town on the way: Churchston. She quickly finds a few friends and a few little jobs and an old little house.
She also find the owner of the house, owner of the town’s garage, and not very loved town war hero Will. And she doesn’t like him. He doesn’t like her either, but he’s at least a bit intrigued... Ok, she’s intrigued too, but she finally wants someone to really love her, not a guy only out for one night.
While Kelly is starting her new life in a new town, a crazy serial killer lady is hot on Kelly’s heels.

I really enjoyed the story!
You never really know what to expect, when an author asks you to read their new, and possibly first-ever-released book, other than lots of mistakes with grammer and spelling and whatnot. BUT, Amabel did a really great job.
This story was totally my thing.... a great romantic suspense with lots of funny, and moving and scary moments.
I was a tiny little bit confused whenever the crazy killer person had her own POV for a few paragraphs...but that’s what makes the whole story mysterious!

BETTER THAN THE BEST was a really exciting and funny & touching Romantic Suspense, set in a cute little town, with lots of nice and not-so-nice residents! I loved it! I wouldn't mind reading Clay's & Randy's & Heather's story one day. ☺

Better than the Best is a seriously good romantic suspense by Amabel Daniels. Ms. Daniels delivers a fantastic, complex and multi-layered story that is charged with sweat inducing tension and suspense. The story is full of danger, and intrigue. There is murder and sinister intent. An edge of your seat experience that kept me glued to the pages until I’d read every word.
Kelly Newland has no idea that catching her husband cheating would set off a chain of events that would change her life forever. She has had a really hard time of late, and her husband’s cheating is just the final straw. She signs the divorce papers, quits her job and heads off to start over, somewhere new, doing something completely different. She ends up in a small lakeside community that seems quite idyllic. Without even trying, Kelly ends up with a job and somewhere to live. Making a couple of friends in the process, she figures that Churchston is as good a place as any for her new start.
She soon finds herself on the receiving end of the gruff town mechanics ire. She finds him rude and obnoxious- but also is drawn to his sexy bad boy vibe. He both infuriates and intrigues her. And when she begins to hear all the town gossip about him, she can’t help but feel sorry for him too. There is so much more to him than anyone takes the time to notice, and she’s determined to uncover it all. As she gets to know him a little better, her attraction for him grows- but she’s not interested in a casual fling, she wanted something more.
Will Parker is an ex-marine who was injured in the line of duty. He carries a heavy burden from his experiences- pain and grief weighing him down. He has lost his zest for life, merely existing and not really living. He has a tarnished reputation and is the target for a lot of gossip and innuendo. He owns the local garage but no longer has the same enthusiasm for what was once his biggest passion. He had a horrible childhood, he was never loved, nurtured or shown affection. He doesn’t believe in love.
When Kelly comes to town, she gets on his nerves- but he secretly admires the fact that she doesn’t back down and he can’t intimidate her like he does everyone else. She’s gorgeous, smart, kind and determined. She doesn’t treat him with pity or disdain like most of the town does, and he soon finds himself drawn to her. But, he can’t afford to let down his defences and allow her to get too close- she would only hurt him in the long run. Wouldn’t she?
Strange things start happening, unexplainable accidents and bizarre mishaps. Danger is lurking, with Kelly firmly in its sights. You really should read this story to discover what the threat is. Why Kelly is the target. Why the accidents and mishaps are occurring. And follow as Kelly and Will’s relationship blossoms into something neither could have expected. Is there be a future for these two? Can Kelly bring light back into Will’s gloomy world? Can they save each other? Or will they succumb to the sinister force hell bent on murder?
The story is told from multiple POV’s- Kelly, Will’s and the killer’s. The story has all the elements to make this a riveting read.

Thank you, Ms. Daniels- I can’t wait for your next book!

I'm officially a fan of everything this author writes! This book was fantastic. The thing I loved the most was how Kelly would say the meanest sassiest jaw dropping things, but she is just so sweet she can get away with it and you still love her. The first time she laid into Will regarding his reclusive brutish attitude and called him a weenie, I couldn't believe it. I was so surprised by her words but couldn't get enough. She was so fun to read about. And then when Will joined in, their banter was beyond entertaining. If the two of them were sitting in a therapist's office the therapist would probably say every word they said to one another was exactly what you shouldn't say in a healthy relationship. But the amazing thing is that their unfiltered words toward each other were exactly what the other person needed to hear. It absolutely works between them. I loved it. This author has a unique way of taking an old story line and making it completely her own. There is always a story within the story. It's absolutely amazing!

Both Will and Kelly had so many strengths and flaws. So confident in some moments and completely vulnerable in others. They were so interesting to read about as a couple but also as individuals. I felt right there with them as they grew and changed through out the story.

Better Than the Best by Amabel Daniels is a romance-suspense novel. This is my first story by this author and I enjoyed it. I found her writing style to be easy flowing and engaging. Her attention to details and knowledge of subjects in this book are great. Her characters are both connectable and lovable. They took me on an emotional roller coaster ride of various emotions. Their twists and turns left me wanting more and on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what would happen next. This story is about PTSD and fighting to get life back. This is Kelly and Will's story. Kelly is a woman who has just gone through a divorce and has lost a patient. She finds herself in a new town and brings with her lots blame for her life falling apart. Will is a veteran who is suffering from PTSD and dealing with a town who seems to hate him. This is where the mystery starts. Kelly doesn't realize that she has a stalker but how far is that stalker willing to go? What will happen when accidents start happening around these two? Their relationship does not start out the normal way. Neither one seemed to like each other but things start changing a little the more time they spend together and the more the mystery starts heating up. Kelly is a character that carries a lot of guilt around with her and she really just wants someone to love her. Will is the hero of this story but he also has some guilt that he carries around with each. I love that these two start out being interested in the other even when they didn't like each other, they were still drawn to each other. They are fated to be together in my opinion but this evil that is lurking seems to have different idea. Are they destined to have a happy ever after? There are some secondary characters in this book that I am not quite sure about but they do make the story flow into the suspense story that it is. I highly recommend this story. I know you will want to see what happens at the end of this story with Kelly and Will.

Better Than the Best by Amabel Daniels
Is a story filled to the brim with suspense, emotions and characters you can't help but love. Kelly has been dealt a few hard life kicks recently and needs a change. Kelly is everything I want to be when I grow up I love her sassy attitude and the way she goes back and forth with all the other characters she encounters in this book. She definitely never planned on Will or his don't care for anything attitude. Will hasn't had the easiest life but Kelly doesn't let that stop her from being what Will can only describe as a pain! These two are like gasoline and matches from day one each refuses to bend but will they learn to let go of the past and find they really want to move on in life?
The back and forth between each character is both funny and emotional at times. The author has a great balance of humor, suspense and emotion in a very enjoyable book. This is the first book I've read from this author but it definitely won't be the last. I'm giving this story a five star rating and can't wait to see what the author brings her readers next.

3.5 stars.

I was very confused at the beginning of this multi point of view story. There is the main protagonist Kelly, the "villian" Emily, a cheating husband and a big move. After the first chapter, I wasn't sure if this was a paranormal story or a murder mystery or a straight up romance.

It took a bit to figure out the what, a little longer to figure out the why. It is a very long book that I skimmed at times.

The character "Emily" is very interesting with her sociopathic actions. There are also stereotypical small minded "townies" that we're frustrating at times.

This was not a book I was able to read in one sitting yet it held my interest enough to get to the end. Be

I appreciate the author's talent in writing and always find it admirable when someone publishes a book.

Guess I'm going to be saying burn in hell from now on. Kelly did have a point about things rotting down there.
I absolutely loved this book and adored Will! The whole story is a tangled web of small town know it alls, people getting hurt left and right, and finally a budding romance. Kelly is a strong chick and Will perfectly compliments her. I loved most of the characters and how the whole story played out. Perfect story telling.
Also Mr Nikki could do way better than Medusa...

*I was given a copy of this book as a gift from Stephanie's Book Reports in exchange for an honest review.

After suffering from emotional as well as professional blows, Kelly Newland leaves her hometown of Atlanta and ends up in the small town of Churchston. At first, her plans are to head to Myrtle Beach, but after befriending several locals, she decides to stay. She believes that she is making a fresh start for herself unaware of the danger that has followed her.

Will Parker is hated by most of his community. After losing his brother and best friend in the war, he suffers from PTSD and pretty much keeps to himself. When he first encounters Kelly lets just say it is definitely not love at first sight. However, as they get to know one another, they find it impossible to resist their mutual attraction. Just as they begin to work through their issues and learn to trust one another, chaos ensues threatening to ruin everything that they have worked so hard to build.

Okay, I have to admit that this book was not one of my favorites. One of the main characters referred to many secondary characters as numbers, and most of the time I couldn't figure out just who she was referring to. This same character described these characters as "steals" and I had no idea what a "steal" was. About 95% into the story, this information was finally clarified but for me it was a little too late as I had spent the majority of the book frustrated and confused. While there are not many reviews posted for this book yet, the ones that are posted are five star reviews so maybe it is just me. You will just have to read the other reviews and decide for yourself if this might be a book that you would enjoy.

Better that the best by Amabel Daniels a four-star read that will take you on a journey. It’s a little slow to start with but it soon picks up pace and you get sucked into the story, Kelly Newland tells her story it’s such a good story. She will show you that she just wants to start a fresh, her story is one that has so many levels once you get into the book you won’t be able to put it down. This story is a very good romantic suspense it has so many levels and twists it will keep you hooked. When Kelly left her hometown behind after her divorce she ends up in Churchston a place she thinks will be a good place to settle and it goes well, she makes friends and life gets good, but life doesn’t stay good and not all of the people she meets want to make friends with her. Will Parker is a gruff man, he has seen things no man should and maybe that’s why he is the way he is, but when he meets Kelly something changes and even though he’s still a grump he see’s something in her that he can admire. But will admiration be enough? And when everything starts going wrong will he be able to help?
This was a good read over all and I am excited to read more by this author.

Kelly is heartbroken after she catches her husband in bed with another woman. Her heart was broken, then she divorces him and decides to make a new life for herself somewhere new, where the demons of her past didn’t haunt her.

She meets Clay, Junior and the ever mysterious but aloof Will. Kelly is one of those characters who bonds with the other characters. I found myself smiling and laughing at their antics at different parts of this book.

Will is not very likeable in this book, I found it difficult to warm up to him but Kelly’s reverse psychology was risky but at the same time funny. Will’s PTSD is understandable but it gets to a point where he has to take responsibility for his actions. He resents the very fact that he exists which at first is understandable. I wanted to hug him and tell him he is allowed to live his life and be happy.

Weird events happen through this book and then something happens and I was not expecting that!!!!

This book is really good and for a debut novel, I am impressed.

Wow, what a great read. Better Than the Best by Amabel Daniels is amazing. So much better than the description. Ms. Daniels has a real talent for the mystery/romance novel. She is more than able to keep you guessing “Who done it?” right up to the very last page.
There is so much going on in this book and Ms. Daniels not only keeps track of it all, she makes sure you do too. This could have become very confusing very quickly, but Ms. Daniels is a master at organizing her thoughts and her book. This is my favorite king of mystery, the kind that keep you on the edge of your seat the entire way through.
I will admit, when I first met Kelly, I thought she was going to be of those simpering, weak willed women who can only stand by and wring their hands while their men go off and save them. I can’t stand those kinds of heroines. But, Kelly shows her true colors after the first chapter. And, I love her. She grows a backbone and becomes able to take care of herself.
Not that there isn’t plenty left over for Will to take care of. I loved the tough, wounded warrior that he is. Will is portrayed really well. I thought his PTSD was described very accurately, I haven’t had to deal with that for very long, but I know about the Anxiety attacks that can come and the stress and fear that accompanies it. Will’s growth and healing are some of the things that make me love this book.
Better Than the Best kept me on the edge of my seat right up until the very end. Will and Kelly are perfect together. The wounded warrior and the woman who pulls no punches and takes no prisoners are perfect together. I loved Better Than the Best so much, if I could give it more than five stars, I would!!! Bravo!!! Ms. Daniels!!! More Please!!!

Better Than the Best by Amabel Daniels is a fantastic suspense/romance read. I read it as a standalone and it was my first encounter with the writer. I fell in love with her writing so after I finished the book I went and checked out what else she has published and I was delighted to see that there are 2 more books of the Newland family so I know what I will be reading next!
Better Than the Best is the story of Kelly Newland and Will Parker. Kelly is a former ER nurse from Atlanta who quit her job and divorced her husband and is looking of r a new start and meaning of life. She decides to go and try to start anew in Myrtle Beach but she never makes it there … she ends up in a small town Churchston. She has no idea that her life is going to take a tumble for the worse … Will is a black sheep of the sleepy small town and he is suffering from PTSD. He is anti-social and you could probably say that he hates the world (including Kelly)…
What do you get when you mix a sunny beach and lurking danger and quirky characters? You get a neck breaking rollercoaster ride where you hang on to the edge of your seat and try to keep your fingers crossed at the same time that please, please, let there be a happy ending and please please, I do not want anyone to die! Well…I guess you need to pick up your own copy to find out what the body count is (and if there is a body count on the first place) and while you hold your breath to get to the end, enjoy the great dialogue and all the supporting characters! I know that two of Kelly’s brothers have their own books but I really hope that Amabel will come back to Churchton and give Will and Kelly’s friends their own stories!

This story was so good. At first it seemed like a typical he cheated on me type of 2nd chance romance. Then chapter two takes a turn which makes you think it will be a paranormal story. Each page keeps you wondering what’s going to happen. This story even made me laugh out loud at times.

“Will wished the whine of the winch could have been loud enough to drone out the whine of the wench.”

I am all for happy endings and rainbows and unicorns but Daniels doesn’t let me think that is the case with this story. I loved how her main characters, Will and Kelly, aggravated each other. They certainly rubbed each other the wrong way. But both are such caring big hearted people, it was hard for them not to notice the other.

Will is a physically wounded, heart-broken, war veteran. Far from being a war hero, his home town has basically shunned him. He’s a self-imposed hermit which doesn’t help how the town sees him. Kelly is a heart broken divorcee, looking for a new start. These two don’t look like they will be friends much less lovers. But fate, or Daniels, has a way of throwing them together.

This story also has great secondary characters with friends like Heather, Randy, Clay, Junior and all of Kelly’s brothers. I could easily see many books to come. (and after a little search a happy me finds a couple of more stories by Daniels!)

I can highly recommend this book and am look forward to reading more.

Better Than the Best
By Amabel Daniels
5 Stars

Better Than the Best by Amabel Daniels is a romantic suspense. Kelly Newland has caught her husband cheating and she has had enough of her present life. Once the divorce papers were signed, she quit her job and leaves to start a new life somewhere else. She moves to a small lakeside area, Churchston, which she quickly finds a job and a place to live. As some may say: Fresh Start, Fresh Energy, New Opportunities. What could really go wrong now. She meets an intriguing but rude bad boy, by the name of Will Parker. After hearing all the gossip around town about him, she feels bad and realizes there is more to him than meets the eye. Will Parker is a former Marine that’s was injured while in the line of duty. He had a bad childhood, was never nurtured or showed the love that a child expects from his parents. He is broken, a fraction of a man that only feels pain and grief. In comes independent and smart Kelly, she annoys him but at the same time, he is attracted to her. Will can let is guard down, he doesn’t want to get hurt. Weird things begin to happen and Kelly may be in possible danger. Can Will and Kelly save each other from the mysterious threat? Will it help their relationship grow? You must read to find out. This is my first read by Amabel Daniels and surely won’t be the last. I was on the edge of my seat and enjoyed every nail biting moment.

This was such a captivating book, I really struggled to put it down! The successful balance of romance and thriller was what I enjoyed most about it as it made the book so exciting and unpredictable. The development of Kelly's character over the course of the book was brilliant, she really grew from being trapped in her own bathroom at the beginning to a strong and confident character by the end and this development really caused me to support and sympathize with her. Will's character was also interesting, I loved how he was flawed and struggling but was still a successful strong main character. The book deals with serious issues very well, for example with Will's PTSD which was consistent throughout the narrative and written respectfully. Furthermore, even the villain's issues were addressed which helped with the understanding of their reasons and interestingly gave an insight to the other side of the story. This was shown through the frequent change in perspective - which I absolutely loved - not only between Kelly and Will but also to the villain which also helped to build suspense and tension. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book as it is so much more than a love story; it deals with serious issues, presents strong characters and is also brilliantly entwined with the thriller genre.

Better Than The Best
By Amabel Daniels
☆☆☆☆☆
This is a full Novel with romance and a bit of suspense.

Kelly Newland is a strong woman who is starting over with life. She caught her husband cheating, work is more than she can handle right now, and a change is in order. While she is strong, she doubts herself worth. In a new town she tries the new start. Gossip is the root of all evil. This new town is on top of the list. Dirty cops and mean people are just the beginning for Kelly.

Will Parker a returning vet has lost everything. His best friend, his family and his will. Keeping fit is his only recourse for how he feels. His injured knee will not stop him from running. It calms his soul. But sometime running is not enough. Then the new girl comes along and his desire to stay away, draws him in like bait to fish.

Amabel Daniel's story is so well written. It draws you in on the first chapter, and keeps you caught til the end. Her characters are funny and fun loving. Their struggles are real and the way they handle the events, I'm impressed. Sometimes I wonder if I could be that strong. Well done Amabel Daniels well done! I look forward to reading more of your stories. I loved the mystery in this romance!!!

Better Than the Best is a suspenseful romance by Amabel Daniels. This is the first book I have read by this author but definitely won’t be my last. This story had me hooked from the very first page and wouldn’t let me go until I read the last. The story flowed and the characters were interesting and hard not to become attached to. I thought that Ms. Daniels did a great job with the PTSD issue. This book had my emotions twisting and turning wondering what would happen next.
Kelly has had enough! Her marriage is over, she quit her job and pulled up stakes and moves to a new town. She is looking for a fresh start, but doesn’t realize, someone from her old life won’t let her go. Will is a veteran suffer from PTSD and when they first meet, they don’t get along. When accidents start happening, they start spending more time together, and things start heating up between them the more time they spend together. Let me tell you, You will want to see what happens at the end of this book! I highly recommend this book if your looking for a little mystery/ suspense in your romance.

Better Than The Best was an incredibly written story by Amabel Daniels. It was a bit of a long book but that didn't matter to me, I ready most of it in one night which I was glad I was able to do since it was quite a restless night for me. But now that I think about it I might have slept better if I hadn't been so invested in this story.

Kelly is an awesome, strong, confident woman in most aspects of her life, except for her love life. She has to lick her wounds after discovering her husband is a slime ball. She leaves her job as an ER nurse and takes off and ends up in a small town but has no idea what troubles follow her there.

Will's still grieving his best friend and has been a grumpy ogre since he came home. He manages to get through day to day life but barely. His friends avoid him at all costs as does just about everyone else. My heart hurt for him with everything he has had to endure.

This was a page turner that I couldn't and didn't want to put down. I laughed, cried and got mad and indignant several times through out the story. The biggest source of the laughs was Clay. I loved this story and would love to see more of this group.

Better Than the Best
By Amabel Daniels
4 stars!

Fantastic story!!! I was hooked from the very first page until the very last! This is the second book that I have read by this author and I was not disappointed at all. It had everything I love in a book, great characters, a good plot, exciting writing and a captivating read! I really cannot recommend it enough!
I always love stories that are a little different to the norm and authors who tackle sensitive subject and I got both with this book. I really loved the characters Kelly and Will. There was just something about them that made me like them straight away. Just when everything looked like it was going well there was a twist in their story! I really felt for Kelly at the beginning of the story and she deserved to find somebody to make her happy! She did have a sassy side to her though and whilst I probably should have disliked her I couldn’t help but like her for it!
I real enjoyable read which I highly recommend.

This story is a mix of mystery and romance. This is my first book from Amabel Daniels. She is very in depth in her writing patterns. She has a way of setting the stage and totally turning around have something happen from left field. Kelly is a nurse that has nothing going for her. Her husband of two years is cheating on her in her own bed. She has a patient die and the family is blaming her. She needs to regroup and reevaluate her life and the way it is going. Will is a veteran who has PTSD and his town hates him. He is bitter but he is trying to get his life back. The mystery is about Kelly and what she did not realize is that there is a stalker out to get her. Kelly meets Will and they did not like one another to begin with. As the story goes on Kelly seeks help from Will and he is willing to help her. Will this relationship grow into a romance? That is what you will find out when you read this book. It will not disappoint you especially if you like mystery/love stories.

Better Than The Best by Amabel Daniels is a fantastic combination or romance, intrigue and deep emotional issues that it will draw you in and take you along for the journey.

Kelly is a nurse looking for a fresh start. With a history she is looking to put behind her the little town she finds herself in is exactly what she needs. She is making friends and getting on with her life.
Except for Will. He is the veteran everyone stays away from. Suffering from PTSD he isn’t integrating back into the community well. But when something starts to happen to the town, incidents that can’t be explained and are highly dangerous, Will and Kelly find themselves forming an alliance to help protect those around them.

This is the second book I have read by this author and I loved it just as much. The emotion in the story and behind the characters was well written and kept me reading. A great overall story.

After her failed marriage and the unexpected death of a patient, Kelly finds herself in a new town, questioning and blaming herself for what's gone wrong with her life. Her career no longer brings her joy. Will, a veteran, attempts to deal with PTSD, and the illogical hate from his town's residents. What Kelly doesn't know is that she has a stalker, who will go to extremes in order to make Kelly suffer.

I loved the mystery of the book. It had me guessing right until the very end as to who the stalker was. The motive is slowly revealed in the book. Many books are so quick to show us who the "bad guy" is. This book isn't like that. Also, the relationship between Kelly and Will is slowly built up. There's no insta-love, and the heroes struggle with their feelings towards one another, so it's more realistic.

Better Than The Best is the second book I’ve read by Amabel Daniels, I finished 2017 by reading Resisting Redemption and was floored by such a 5 star read it turned out to be, I loved the synopsis of this book and couldn’t wait to see more of her writing style.
As predicted, Better Than The Best did not disappoint, and the characters were fantastic. The storyline packed a frustrating punch as I tried to figure out who the mystery killer could be. Despite my best efforts I never did quite figure it out on my own.
Did I mention the characters? Oh I did? Let’s talk about Will Parker for a second, maybe I have a thing for the underdog or maybe he’s just super steamy and the angst between Kelly and Will was too hot to handle. Either way I couldn’t get enough of this story and loved it’s fast paced storyline and can’t wait to catch up on more of Amabel Daniels’ writing.

Better Than the Best by Amabel Daniels is a very good romantic suspense novel that you will not be able to put down. Better Than the Best is the story of Kelly and Will. Kelly is a divorced, ER nurse who is looking to start over. Will is a not very liked man who lives in a small town who suffers from PTSD. What happens when you mix two people who are the complete opposites? Something that will resemble a very bumpy roller coaster ride!

Better Than the Best has you turning the pages because you need to find out what happens next. Ms. Daniels' keeps you reading due to her writing style that is so engaging. She is very descriptive in her writing and you never know what will happen next. The main characters are very well developed and believable. The secondary characters play a very important roll as well. Really looking forward to read more from Amabel Daniels.
