Meet sexy bad-boy biker, Plymouth Crane. Owner of Crane Motorcycle and Repair by day. Pegasus shifter by night. The super-sexy, beast of a man only has eyes for Paloma Foster. Coffee shop owner, and unknowingly, half-breed Pegasus shifter. Unfortunately, she’s also his ex. Every day his heart and his body push him to question his resolution to break up with her, to allow her to be “normal.” Especially when she finds another man.
Caught in a love triangle between two sexy men with too many secrets, Paloma remains ignorant of the shifter population of her hometown, Woodland Creek, Indiana, as well as to her own heritage. She begins her day with coffee and ends it with wine, all the while hoping to discover the truth of where her heart belongs.
Big plans are in store for the shifters of Woodland Creek, especially the only half-breed left in existence, Paloma Foster.
Love, secrets and lies make for a thrilling ride in Broken Wings.

This was ok, it wasn't one of my favorites one in this series though. Although the dramatic climax had me on pins & needles waiting to see what would happen. The interlude in the cabin though during the escape, while I get it was necessary for the rest of the story, just really didn't make sense to me in the terms of "they are trying to escape from the bad dudes but lets stop for nookie in the midst of it". I prefer my fiction to have just enough reality to be believable. If that makes any sense.
I was sad at the end due to what happened to Plymouth, and while I do wish he was all restored, I actually appreciated the fact that he wasn't at the end. It made for a nice change.
This was the first book I read in the Woodland Creek series, and it took no time and all for me to want to know more about this incredible town and the shifters that live in it. Pegasus shifters?? Definitely a first for me, and I loved it!
From the beginning, my heart broke for Plymouth and Paloma, because as a reader, I could feel their longing, and the fact that they were meant to be together, but neither realized at the time just how magical their connection actually was. Instead, Plymouth tried to let her live a normal human life, keeping his shifter secret from her for her own good, while watching her date another guy that everyone involved (including us readers) knew was a guy that was in no way meant for her. We just didn't know HOW not meant for her he was. There were several twists and turns throughout the story that kept me on my toes, kept me reading, and read it in one sitting!
Woodland Creek is a unique town, with many unique secrets. It seems like the biggest secret is the amount of shifters that live among the humans, who have no idea, but there's so much more. In this story we find there are also some dark secrets...some big ones...that even the shifters don't know about. This story was part paranormal romance and part mystery, and the mystery definitely kept my interest piqued to the very end.
Throughout the story, there was no question there was an undeniable attraction that would never stop pulling at Plymouth and Paloma. However, there were times where I felt parts of where their attraction was mentioned were a bit distracting from what was going on at that moment -- a conversation, for example, where the author added in mention of one of them feeling a sexual desire right at that moment, where at that moment it felt like more of a forced mention, than a necessary mention. However, any sex scenes themselves were very well written, in no way awkward, and flowed very well. And as many of us know even as readers, this is certainly not always an easy thing for a writer to do!
This was a very good story, mystery, and romance. I loved the main characters, including Plymouth's sister. How the story ends is not only very surprising, but definitely leaves you to wonder what will happen in the future for all of the characters involved!
Oh my goodness, if Sons of Anarchy has shifters and less crazy evil violence, this is that book. Like, hello hawt biker with a big heart, and pegasus shifters, sweet goodness, this one is a favorite LOL I will never look at a log cabin in the woods without thinking about this... and this wall. LOL Plymoth is one of the last of the Pegasus shifters, yes those, the big white horses with wings. He has a sister. And the love of his life is human, so he can't love her, because she can't know his shifter secret. Paloma is broken by Plymoth leaving her. I cheered the whole time for them to be together. I felt for both of them. And then when things start getting weird, shifters are going missing, Paloma gets a new boyfriend who is a little creepy to me, but is so nice to her, Plymoth is going crazy watcher her try to move on. And his sister, stuck between them as Paloma's best friend, but Plymoth's sister. Let me say, there's lots of mystery and suspense here. I was about mind blown when the real plot opened up and my jaws dropped. I knew the bad guy, but I had no inkling he was THAT BAD and what bad really meant. How horrible. Yeah, I can't tell you. The characters are all well written and I couldn't put this one down. I will say the writing is fantastic, and this is definitely a wonderful addition to the woodland creek series. And the HAE at the end, I swear I had tears. Bit fat ones! This one is definitely a 5 PAWS for me!
I received an ARC of "Broken Wings" from the author, in exchange for an honest review.
What an emotional ride that was, it's also my first Mindy Larson book, I jumped in feet first & sunk within the words. The first chapter was pretty intense & then it continued on from there. "Broken Wings" is Mindy's installment for the "Woodland Creek" collection, a collaboration of 30 authors all writing about 1 little town in Indiana USA, I was intrigued with the concept behind this collection.
First off let me say, I loved the uniqueness of this shifter, it's the first time I've read about Pegasus shifters. There was soo many secrets in this book, they kept piling up until they burst free in the last couple of chapters... things get very intense too. The suspense, the love triangle, secrets, all come tumbling together, to make this a seat gripping read. I can honestly say, I didn't see what happens in this book coming, what a twist!
I need to read more books from Mindy Larson & I also can't wait to read what the others have written for the "Woodland Creek" collection.
Broken Wing packed a lot of punch into its story. Just when you thought it was about a man, okay a shifter, finding his mate you find out that there is a lot more going on. Plymouth is in love with Paloma, but once let go. Can he get her back. Paloma is in love with two men, both who are keeping things from her. Her current boyfriend, Oliver is a successful doctor. Without going into any spoilers, there was a lot of action.
As things progressed in the story and Paloma made her decision of which man to choose, things started to move very fast. There were many events and actions of different characters that played out. The timeline covered in the story was broad. It was a bit unusual for me in how this was handled, but I could certainly see the need for it and thought it was executed well. I felt for Plymouth and Paloma to the point that I didn’t want to have them suffer. Paloma did choose her mate in the end and it was a good story, one that I’m glad I read.
I really love the uniqueness of this shifter book. I was hooked from the start and couldn't put it down. Paloma can't forget amount Plymouth and he can't forget her even though he breaks up with her because of his secret. Plymouth regrets his decision but Paloma has already started to date the hot surgeon Oliver. Can they work it out and love prevail or will outside forces interfere with their happily ever after. I love the suspense and surprises in the book along with the steamy sex scenes. I really enjoy it when I can say I never saw that coming. This was a great read don't miss out. I was lucky to be given an ARC for a fair and honest review.
