He often forgets he's a cyborg. All she sees in the mirror is a killing machine.

Marine Lance Corporal Eric Anderson tended to forget he was cyborg. Hell--most of the time he didn't give being mostly a military machine any thought. He'd always lived by his human gut, not his logic chip, so thinking out of the cybernetic box was just how he worked.

Then he met her--Evelyn 489--a female cyborg so erratically dangerous she has to be kept locked away. Angry, violent, and full of deadly intentions, she epitomizes every fear about cyber scientists that ever kept him awake at night. Some warped cyber scientist stripped away her real identity to create the perfect companion. Until he gave into his urge to be her hero, the woman didn't know she used to be Army Captain Lucille Evelyn Pennington.

Though Peyton is full of doubts, Eric is compelled to help Kyra and Nero restore the woman who once liked to be called Lucy. It doesn't help his cause that several people seem determined to kill her.

Eric who? Lucy and Friends steal the show!

I have read all four books in Donna McDonald's cyborg series, and this one ranks 2nd out of the 4 (book 1 was still my fav). There are great Easter eggs spread throughout this book for fans of the series, and McDonald is deftly bringing the intrigue back around to some nuggets from the series starter. In addition, she introduced two characters, Meara and Aja, who stole the show, and I am avidly anticipating their books.

However, Evelyn/Lucy is the star cyborg here, even though Eric gets his name in the book title. Capt. Lucy is a profoundly damaged cyborg the scientists are doing their best to save. Her case is particularly complicated for a lot of reasons that I won't detail here. Eric is working her case, trying to help recover her identity, and falling in love with the various pieces of her personality along the way. She is at turns hellcat and seductive siren due to conflicts in her programming and from traumatic brain damage. Eric loves her any way he can get her, but the narrative isn't really about him. This is the story of Lucy.

Backing Lucy up are her cyborg teammates, Aja and Meara. This story sparkles when they are on the page. It borrows in the best way from female buddy movies like "The Heat" or "Bridesmaids." By far, my favorite parts were the women and their constant sarcasm. The "tired tongue" scene had me roaring.

I was a little confused at times by the geek speak related to processors and dual wiring, etc. The romance felt a tad stale. Was Eric taking advantage of Lucy's personality when the Companion programming was in place? It made me uncomfortable. Luckily, McDonald works through those issues, at least to the satisfaction of this reader. Plus, chauvinistic Evil Brad gets his butt kicked by a bunch of girls.

I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

This might be my favorite book in the series so far. This series seems to be more heavy on the scifi than the romance, which is ok but I do like a balance of both and Eic and Lucy's story seemed to have that balance. Donna McDonald has done a great job with the details of the Cyborgs and what they can do I almost wish there were more fighting scenes to truly enjoy that part of this story. What you are getting is the cyborgs being recovered and restored to free them from the evil scientist that have abused their power over them. I do think the author may be headed towards an epic battle though. I would recommend reading in order even though these could stand on their own. You get pieces of the bigger picture with each book and my fascination is growing with each piece that is unlocked. This book series would make a great tv series. ARC provided by NetGalley.

This was a page turner I had trouble putting down. I wanted to stay awake to finish it but when 3am rolled around I and my e-reader needed to shut down for a recharge…kind of like the cyborgs in the book.

A cyborg (short for "cybernetic organism") is a being with both organic and biomechatronic body parts. That is just what many of the characters in this series are…part human with additional components that they were not born with. They have been used and abused and seek a better future for themselves and others like them and that is what the team at Norton are doing their best to achieve.

The story of Eric and Lucy is compelling and drew me in from the beginning. Eric has been driven to help Evelyn 489 since first meeting her. Once he retrieves her name he heads out to inform her of it and in so doing triggers something unexpected. The programming she begins to follow causes Eric some trouble at first but because he has grown to care for her, does not want to take advantage of her and wants what is ultimately in her best interest he does all he can to see that she will have a better future.

Marcus, Peyton and King make an appearance or two with their significant others, Will Talon shows up for a bit, Nero-a new male cyborg scientist is introduced, two female cyborgs-Aja and Meara-make an appearance, one of the bad guys is dealt with while Master Omega is perhaps hinted at more clearly…at least I have a feeling *I* know who it might be…and hints are made for potential future books in the series.

I just downloaded Peyton 313, first in the series - currently free on some sites, and having read books two and three look forward to reading it before book five is released.

This is a series with a world of its own that makes sense in ways that many sci-fi futuristic books sometimes do not. I applaud Ms McDonald for the world and characters she has created. My hope is that at some point all the cyborgs will get their HEA and the world they live in will become a better safer place than it seems to have been and continues to be for many of them.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Could Creator Omega be..... No they all say she killed him but there is no memory of her killing him... I know without a doubt that there will eventually have to be more books in this series because there is still the mystery of who he is... the EVIL creator omega needs a major Butt Kicking. Eric and Lucy are so made for each.

Another great book with what lot of action, suspense, fear, passion, romance, and all my favorite characters from previous books. Highly recommended series and keep them coming because I would like to read about, Nero, William, Meara, and Aja' s stories.

INTELLIGENT, RIVETING, SEXY AND ENTERTAINING !!!
Title: Eric 754
Series: Cyborgs: Mankind Redefined
Designation: Book Four of Series, Standalone, No Cliffhanger
Author: Donna McDonald
My Rating: FIVE DIVINELY ENTERTAINING STARS*****
Wow! I love, love, love it! Eric 754 is the fourth release in the riveting Cyborgs: Mankind Redefined series by Donna McDonald and she totally knocked it out of the park - again! I discovered Donna McDonald last year and became a diehard fan after reading Peyton 313, the first release in this amazing series. I adore a sexy romance, fall head over heels for anything with suspense or intrigue, and truly love an intelligent science fiction/fantasy tale but combine those elements into one fabulous read and I'm in heaven, especially when they're well done and Donna McDonald is definitely a master of her trade. McDonald is not only a skilled storyteller with a boundless imagination but she's also a wonderfully gifted wordsmith whose talent never ceases to amaze me. Although this is the fourth book of the series, it can most definitely be read as a standalone and does NOT end in an actual cliffhanger but there is a common underlying premise and conflict with recurring characters and continuing storyline that run throughout the entire series. The author does a remarkable job of including ample backstory so that each book can be enjoyed as a standalone read. However, having said that, I would highly recommend reading at least the first book since it establishes the premise and sets the stage for each of the future releases in the series. The first story featured brilliant cyber-scientist and cyborg code co-creator Dr Kyra Winters and dashing Marine Captain Peyton Elliot aka Cyborg Peyton 313 who both reappear in each subsequent release along with several other characters who were also introduced in the first book. The sexy cyborg heroes featured in this series are a combination of genetically and bionically engineered super soldiers who were cybernetically imprisoned, reprogrammed, enslaved and sold as 'Cyber Husbands' after aiding the United Coalition of Nations to end a near apocalyptic global war. Dr Winters and her team are now working diligently to rescue, reprogram and restore the humanity of all the cyborgs whose freedom, memories and lives were stolen by Norton Industries acting under the purview of the UCN. But their efforts are being sabotaged by a malevolent unknown entity known only as Creator Omega who continues to covertly engineer the failure of Dr Winter's campaign to free the cyborgs and prevent their reintegration back into society. And unfortunately, the lies, deceit and heinous machinations are, surprisingly, even more complex than they could ever suspect. Each book in the series deals with a different restored cyborg finding true love while attempting to recover their humanity and regain a semblance of balance in their new life. Each couple do get their happy ending but all of the books follow a unified underlying plot in which an unknown enemy wants their efforts to fail. In this story, we follow beautiful former Army Captain Lucille Evelyn Pennington aka Cyborg Evelyn 489, and now restored former Marine Lance Corporal Eric Anderson aka Cyborg Eric 754. I fell in love with Eric when he was introduced in an earlier book and was over the moon when I learned he would have his own story and even more excited after discovering he would be paired with the female cyborg who up until now, the team had been unable to identify other than just Evelyn 489. Both of these characters quickly worked their way into my heart and have become my favorite characters to date. Yes, I know I say the same thing every time, but it's true. I've loved all four of these books but this one really tugged on my heartstrings and yanked hard. I laughed, I sobbed, I cried, I shook my fists in anger at the injustice and was completely and totally captivated!

But I digress, let's talk about this book. I found this story to be well researched, well crafted, well executed and exceptionally well written and edited. The language, terminology and science is intelligent, imaginative yet realistic. The characters are well developed, engaging, endearing and surprisingly, at times, laugh out loud funny. They explode from the pages, come to life in my mind and completely stole my heart. I cried for them, empathized with them and sometimes, laughed with them. I became completely vested in their well-being, their survival and most of all, their happiness. I especially loved the added elements of romance, mystery, intrigue and suspense that are brilliantly interwoven into the story. The dialogue is smart, witty and flows effortlessly. And the premise for this entire series is a stroke of genius. We all know that real life research and inventions often mimic science fiction, and although the general public may not be aware, bionics and AIs do already exist so who knows what the future may hold! The two protagonists are devilishly handsome former Marine Lance Corporal Eric Anderson aka Cyborg Eric 754 and beautiful but deadly former Army Captain Lucille 'Lucy Hellcat' Evelyn Pennington aka Evelyn 489. These two characters play off each other brilliantly and their sexual chemistry is smokin' hot. Their interaction is seductive and arousing but their relationship is also so much more and I don't mean just more sex. It's sexy without the nonstop sex, if that makes any sense. Don't get me wrong, there are some steamy sex scenes but these two characters start out with an explosive connection, quite literally, and then gradually progress to a very tenuous relationship of sorts where Lucy identifies Eric as the owner of her contract, but despite the odds, they form a strong, meaningful and trusting connection that supersedes mere physical attraction. Eric and Lucy may both be cyborgs but their love story is the most heart-wrenching, heartwarming and human of any of the couples to date. The relationship and situation with the couple in each book is different, unique and not cut from the same cookie cutter mold so it always keeps me on my toes, never knowing what to expect. I love that about this series! Eric and Lucy Hellcat's relationship doesn't start out as instant attraction and OMG, you're my soulmate. In fact, it's quite the opposite with these two unlikely lovers, but I still loved it and just as in the first three books, I found myself on the edge of my seat, glued to every page with my heart pounding and gasping for my next breath. I was immediately drawn into this story, completely immersed, happily lost in a wonderful new adventure with hours passing as minutes and completely unaware of the passage of time.. It was utter perfection!

Former Marine Lance Corporal Eric Anderson aka Eric 754 often forgets he's even a cyborg. He's only one of two surviving restored cyborgs who was cybernetically double wired with dual processors. Eric has since been successfully freed and restored by his former commanding officer, Captain Peyton Elliot, and his genius wife scientist and original co-creator of the Cyborg program, Dr Kyra Winters. He's currently working as part of their team to recover, free and restore more of his fellow comrades. They currently have one poor soul imprisoned in a basement bunker at Norton Industries but the chances of survival or restoration are slim. Eric regards Evelyn 489 as a dangerous and volatile weapon but he also sees her as a complete mystery that needs to be solved, and poor Evelyn 489 is literally a disaster waiting to happen. They don't even know her human identity but they do know she has been seriously abused and used as a science experiment by the evil original creator Dr Jackson Channing and his protege, Dr Bradley Smith. She had been weaponized with highly dangerous experimental technology including a bomb, and then programmed into a New World Companion to serve the needs of her master, which was basically an unwilling sex slave. When Eric is finally allowed to meet Evelyn 489, he feels an immediate connection along with an inexplicable need to discover her true identity and help her reclaim her human life, or at least as much of it as possible under the circumstances. And those circumstances had been devastating. This woman had suffered horrible abuse and extreme experimentation at the hands of her captors. She had initially volunteered to be part of the program to help win the war after her husband committed suicide but the things that had been done to her went far beyond her original agreement. Unfortunately, the one thing Eric had never anticipated was falling head or heels in love with the beautiful highly unstable cyborg. But can she be saved or will she be the death of them all??? We'll see!

If you love cyborg science fiction, romantic suspense, spine-tingling intrigue and thrilling adventure, then I highly recommend trying this remarkable series. It's divinely entertaining! What did I love about this story? Everything! What didn't I like? Not a darn thing! Would I recommend this book? You bet and I am! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as I can one-click the next book in the series. It's bloody brilliant!!! Currently, this is the last book available in this series. I have no idea if McDonald has any plans for future releases in this particular series but I certainly hope it's a consideration. If so, I'll be at the front of the line waiting to purchase my copy! Regardless, I can hardly wait to see what adventure Ms McDonald has in store for her readers next!

I really love the cyborg books, and Eric and Lucy didn't disappoint me. Donna's ladies are very feisty and down to earth, with great problem solving skills even when they should be impaired by either physical or mental conditions. Meara and Aja, Lucy's friends, are powerhouses in and of themselves and I hope Aja and Nero's storyline develops into at least a novella.

Keep up the great work, love these books!

Anyone who knows me knows I'm a sucker for conspiracies and skulduggery which abound in this series. I'm also a fan of badass babes. This story wasn't perfect but it was fun. The author continues to have obvious typos that make it past whoever does the proofing, but it didn't block my enjoyment. The magical cock trope is my least fave but the way it was adapted amused me. Not a perfect story but it gets an extra star for being exactly what I was in the mood for and for progressing the series.

This one was so hard to read because some of the things Lucy and Eric go through is just awful. Especially Lucy. This story brings in 3 female cyborgs that have been abused worse than the males.
Because Norton and UCN have bazillions of dollars and can create any type of cyborg and the government looks the other way all of this evil has happened. While Kyra and Peyton are trying to undo and help the cyborgs others even more dangerous are being created. Lucy is more dangerous and deadly than any before her and Aja and Meara want to save her. Eric falls in love with Lucy but during her upgrades her personality changes a lot. I just love these characters and this story.
Really awesome read.

With each book, Donna McDonald continues to build this intricate scientific advanced future world. The good, the bad and the arrogant all come into play as Eric tries to save Lucy. Eric 754 (Cyborgs: Mankind Redefined 4) is as much Lucy’s (Evelyn 489) story as it is Eric’s. These two are intertwined from early on in the series.

As far as Eric and Lucy go, they are able to find the solutions to the major problems that are part of Lucy’s cyborg manipulation. I found the horror and the real life possibility of it happening to be scary but still I was unable to put the book down until I knew her fate. Then the new supporting characters simply added to make this the best book yet in the series. Of course, now I want them to get their own story.

I for one agreed with Lucy and her friends’ lack of sorrow over the demise of one villain. The head evil honcho, the Creator Omega is still running free under everyone’s radar. His continued danger to all of the good guys is a minor cliffhanger that builds with each book. Evil like goodness exist on many levels in many ways as this series subtly shows. However, Donna McDonald gives us love and hope after war for the heroes who sacrificed so much, perhaps there is a lesson for us today in their stories. All I know for sure is that Lucy is one of the unforgettable ones.

I received a free copy via Netgalley in return for an honest review.

This is book 4 in a series and while it can be read as a standalone (as I did) I would recommend reading the other books in the series first. There were a lot of characters and references to past events which I presume were from the preceding 3 books. It wasn't hard to pick up the gist of the ongoing story but I missed out on some stuff by not knowing the backstory. For example why the hell they didn't kill evil Brad off in a previous story. Now onto the story itself.

It is enjoyable enough and I really liked the last 25% (after Lucy actually becomes herself). It dragged a bit in the middle and there was too much talk and description of all the cybernetics and processes and how things worked, why certain procedures were needed and what these would do. I was also really uncomfortable with Lucy being the 'new world companion' for most of the story, particularly as that is when most of the development of her relationship with Eric took place. Given that that is not her real personality and she had no choice I was kind of creeped out by it. This is why I enjoyed the final quarter of the book so much more a that is when real Lucy emerged.

Eric knows that he can save the female soldier sitting in that room, he has found out all about her and she deserves to know her name. Eric is about to change the course of his life and he will be able to bring peace to others by trying to save that soldier.
Lucy just wants to die her life can't get any worse, she doesn't remember much, her mind is so damaged and yet she still lives. She doesn't want to carry on anymore but Eric sees her for what she was and what she can still be.
Eric knows that Lucy can be saved, the mad scientists really did a number on her, she is almost 100%machine but there is still some of the old Lucy in there and he is hoping that they can bring her some peace.
Eric & Lucy will need to stand together even if it means that they can't belong together after all this is over but who knows. Can they stop evil Brad for good this guy just doesn't die and will they find out who the Creator Omega is?
Another great book in the series can't want to read the next one. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley.

This was my favourite so far in the Cyborgs: Mankind Redefined series, although the first book isn't too far behind it. I liked the humorous personality, loyalty and perseverance of Eric. He is less military and logical than the other cyborgs and seems to have retained much more of his original human side than the others. Lucy is a great character, her grit, temper, perseverance and strength makes her character stand out and your heart breaks for all that she has suffered. The development of their relationship is well written and has depth. The new secondary characters are delightfully entertaining, they are complete opposites but their personalities and strengths compliment each other very well and I will look forward to their stories in future books. The plot is fast moving and keeps your attention with its intrigue, action and twists. It is a well written, entertaining story and is my favourite for both plot development and character depth. I enjoyed the characters, twists and action in this entertaining story. I received this book from the author in a giveaway.

When Eric 754 (a cyborg) follows his gut feelings to protect Lucy (female cyborg, Evelyn 489) then you know something outside of the "rules" is bound to happen. Most of the time, Eric doesn't even think of himself as being a cyborg. Lucy is a strong female, that deep down inside still retains some of her humanity, regardless of all the trial experiments she has been through. I like that the story had a unique, different path of the relationship between these two characters; but still stayed true to the overall storyline of the series. I love the way Donna can tell a story, it captures the imagination from start to finish.

Like the rest of this series I fell in love with this book from page one and didn't want to stop reading until the book was done. I'm loving how the author combines sci-fi and romance in the same book. She has done a wonderful job with the storyline and keeping my interest. I loved seeing more new characters introduced and hope to learn more about them in future reads. If you like sci-fi and romance this is a good read for you

I finished reading this one this morning. I dont want to shock anyone so I wount say the time this morning :).

I liked Eric's story. Somehow I found it hilarious. I laughed my way through much of Eric's dialogue with his female lead. Her interaction with him initially had me worried cause as a woman that was a very disturbing scenario, however it all worked out for the best in the end. Yes I even found the end funny. Another good read from Ms. McDonald.

I definitely enjoyed this story, but I am getting really tired of Creator Omega, and how blind and stupid our hero's are. With Kyra's Brain and Peyton's military you would think it would be a simple thing to assume you have been infiltrated. Except they cant seem to make that leap. Hopefully with Lucy and her girl's now on the team, they might actually start using all that wasted intellect.

Enjoyable reading but I gave the book only three stars for several reasons. First of all the title is a bit misleading, the book is more about Lucy (h) than Eric (H). The first part of the book started OK but then the story goes a bit all over the place. Not enough character depth either, too much going on that doesn't help bring the story along.
