LIFE WISH Syaoran reveals to his companions the heavy price he paid to be able to protect Sakura, one with consequences for many people, and his burden of guilt. As the time for both Syaoran and Fei-Wang's wishes to come true arrives, the travelers must face off against Fei-Wang, all the magic he can summon against them, and Syaoran's double. In this battle cut off from time, even the witch Yuko's help may not be enough.
This omnibus edition includes volumes 25-26 of Tsubasa .
CLAMP originally began in 1989 as a twelve-member dōjinshi circle, but by 1990, the circle had diminished from twelve to seven. Of the remaining seven, Tamayo Akiyama, Sei Nanao, and Leeza Sei left the group during the production of the RG Veda manga. Other former members of CLAMP also included Soushi Hishika, O-Kyon, Kazue Nakamori, Yuzuru Inoue and Shinya Ōmi. Currently, there are four members in the group.
In 2004, CLAMP's 15th anniversary as a mangaka group, the members changed their names from Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi (her name is pronounced the same, but written with different characters) respectively. The August 2004 issue of Newtype USA, a magazine specializing in events of the anime and manga subcultures, reported that the members of CLAMP simply wanted to try out new names. In a later interview with Ohkawa, it was revealed that initially Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking, while Nekoi disliked people commenting that her name was the same as Mick Jagger's. Ohkawa and Igarashi, wanting to go with the flow of Nekoi's and Mokona's name changes, changed their names as well.
In 2006, they made their first USA public debut at Anime Expo in Anaheim, California. They were well received at the convention, with 6,000 fans in attendance at their panel.
Most of this omnibus was Syaoran's memories of the events leading up to the price he had to pay to protect Sakura. Poor Syaoran; all four of these main characters have been through so much since they were so young in their lives but Syaoran withheld the guilt and weight of all of that up until this point.
I am so glad Kurogane and Fai forgave him and still choose to stand by his side. The friendship and bond of this group is beautiful. *sobs*
And the sacrifice of the other Syaoran! Oh my goodness! T^T
I also love Syaoran and Sakura's relationship from the start and how it blooms. Sakura is a bright star for Syaoran; always smiling, always spreading joy. And Syaoran is always polite and bashful around her. I love these two as individual characters and as a pairing. *gushes excessively*

The start of this omnibus is one long flashback into Syaoran (and the Kingdom of Clow)'s past.... we get a few answers, but the overall reality is still murky to me. If reality is crumbling, exactly how much is true???
CCS Syaoran is definitely hinted as being Tsubasa Syaoran's father. I'd know that sword scabbard anywhere! And clearly Tsubasa Syaoran's name is NOT, in fact, Syaoran, since the father says he's passing down his name to him along with the sword.... Just like Tsubasa Sakura in a fugue state says that "Sakura" is not her 'true name'. So just WHO are they?
Still confused what, precisely, Fei-Wang's "wish" is and why it requires Sakura to be marked for death. But the Time Witch says the only way to save her is "to exchange someone else's life for it." Perhaps Fei-Wang is REALLY after someone else's death...? Someone he can't get to? And yet prior omnibuses said Fei-Wang wanted to bring someone BACK from the dead.... Perhaps the connection is that Fei-Wang is trading SAKURA's life for the person they want (who seems to clearly be Clow Reed).
Going back in time splintered reality, it seems, and that accounts for why what we saw in the first volumes re: the past (families, memories) is so wildly different than the "true" past that Syaoran is telling us about. Hm.
Could this be like Ashura and Yasha's story from Omnibus 3/4, where half were in the world's past and half were in its present, and they went back and changed the past, thus saving the future of the Country of Shura/Shara? I almost wonder if Tsubasa is meant to be like a prequel to CCS... After all, the Time Witch says in the first chapter, "On the seventh day, [Syaoran's] decision will decide the future. And it will decide yet another future as well." Very curious to see if CLAMP actually clarifies exactly what the connection is.

And we are here at the final confrontation with Fei Wang! But first, a really long flashback. Like I mentioned before, time is getting funky on us! Take notes! Keep watch on what's happening in each timeline! It's really crazy and confusing, but I do think it comes together if you take the time to think it through.
We get some closure with Shoaran in this one, as well as some explanations for what's happening in xxxholic right now. Watanuki's background is given here in Tsubasa instead of in xxxHolic where his story is told. Again, if you aren't reading these series' together, you are missing the bigger picture!
This Omnibus is exposition heavy on the front end and action heavy in the back end. Honestly, I appreciated all the exposition because by this point the reader really needs some help on figuring out what's going on! And it's still not all explained!
The ending is great, but it's not THE ending. Still one more Omnibus to go!!!
Reread this whole series recently. I love this whole series. This is one of those formative influences -- read them waaay back, when I was in secondary school. I fell in love with the story. It's right up there under 'formative influences' along with things like Harry Potter, Ouran, D.Gray-Man, Warriors, etc.
Ladies and gentlemen, please give a round of applause for the winner of "Tear-jerker of 2016" Seriously, I'm crying right now and my head hurts like crazy
