Matchmaker, Matchmaker Tensions are high between Kazuma and Yukiné, but that doesn’t stop Yato from wanting to go to his very first Divine Council. This council will include a matchmaking ceremony, where the gods choose soul mates for the mortals of Japan. What could this mean for Hiyori and her future husband?
That last Bishamon panel though! 😩👌🏽💯 BADASS! Shikki’s manifestation form might just be the coolest one I’ve seen in the series so far (with the exception of Kiun’s Thunder Spear, ofc). Actually, all the characters we meet in this volume seem so interesting, I’m so intrigued. 👀 I can sense where the plot is going and I’m reeeeally looking forward to seeing it unfold.
Four stars only because there was so much going on at the end that I got really confused about the implications of what was happening. Not the actions themselves, but what they were supposed to mean for the future of this world. I'm hoping the next volume helps me sort that out.
A lot of new characters are introduced. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with the Burier. I wasn't expecting when she was introduced to end up feeling so sympathetic to Bishamon!
In this volume Bishamonten deals with the death of her Shinki and her hatred for the Crafter- who led to her demise- grows. Kazuma searches for the Crafter but Yato warns him to stay away or face the Crafters wrath. Yato and Yukine, as newly accepted god and shinki, are invited to the Divine Council in Takamagahara. Kiun, Takemikazuchi's Shinki asks Yato if he would betray the Their Exllency- Amaterasu Omikami- and questions his devotion to the heavens. The Dvine Council holds their Annual Match-Making party, and meeting. Bishamon uses the absence of the gods as a cover to retrieve a long locked away shinki, who once fought against the heavens, and seeks to use newly named Nana to enact her revenge on the crafter. This volume continues the story from the previous volume . This volume sets up the exciting developments to come and at the same time offers a closer look at the realm of the gods. Adachitoka's art is expressive and the two page layouts are impressive as always. I look forward to the next volume!

This volume starts off so light and fun, then by the end it becomes dark and foreboding. I liked the volume and since I've read the next three before writing this review, I can say that some of the conversations which Yato has which seem inconsequential do end up meaning something in the end.
It’s getting a bit confusing honestly. Too much information in too little space and too many little stories that don’t mean anything to the main plot or that don’t get final resolution. But I love how Kofuku is the absolute president of the yatori shippers club aaaahhah
Umm... shit... It's been a hot minute since I've read this series so I need a little time to get back into things, but of course I'm still so invested in this story and its characters. One of my reading goals this year is to get caught up with this series. It's also just been released that volume 27 is going to be the end of the entire manga, which I wasn't expecting so soon. So I hope to continue on and see how the story progresses by the time the final volume is translated and released.
I was really curious about where Yukine and Kazuma's friendship would be after the events of the last volume. Yukine's trust was completely abused and it makes sense how wary and angry he was at Kazuma. I did think it was sweet seeing Bishamon, Yato, and Hiyori try to get them to talk and make amends. I also loved the scene between Bishamon and Kazuma when she realizes what he did and tells him that he can't just do anything he wants and justify it because he is doing it for her. I'm really glad that she said that to him, because I think he really needed to hear it. He put them in a really weird place where other gods and shinki want to distance themselves from him, due to his killing of Tsuguha. I still want for him to properly apologize to Yukine soon.
I wasn't expecting Bishamon to try and find the Blessed shinki that was sealed away so she could kill the Creator with it and not have to sacrifice any of her shinki. I'm not sure how that will turn out. I think that there is going to be a catch that she didn't predict. I'm also curious about how Kazuma will find her, since she already claimed the shinki.
I wasn't expecting to see so many new characters introduced. I hate Takemikazuchi and how he views his shinki and war. Plus the way he talked to Yato and Ebisu... hate him. I already feel like he is going to cause so much mayhem and chaos. His shinki Kiun seems to have complicated feelings toward him and I'm interested in seeing how that will play out. It was so interesting seeing Yato be with the Emishi and getting more of a glimpse on how the Heavens have treated other gods, especially those that they've conquered. I wonder if they will be allies with Yato and fight against the Heavens.
I feel like I'm once again forgetting so much. Regardless, I've missed this series and I'm looking forward to making more progress with it and seeing how things unfold.

So Yukine is now declaring Kazuma their enemy for betraying Yukine’s trust the way he did but Yato clears the air with him a little bit - and Kazuma feels left out as to why Bishamon didn’t confide in him with the Shinki Tsugaha died but she couldn’t; knowing the God’s greatest secret would kill him, so she literally cannot tell him. So Yukine wants to get stronger. The Heavens send a representative to know if Yato will be serving Amaterasu & he agrees (after being threatened to have his name erased from the registry of gods LOL) & is invited to Kamuhakari, this match-making event in heaven Kazuma also tells Bishamon what he did to Yukine & she’s exasperated with him (because that truth spell is only to be used on criminals) & tells him to make things right. At Kamuhakari, the douche that killed the previous Ebisu makes a few digs at little Ebisu & so Yato, being petty (AS HE SHOULD BE) makes some back a little later when Ebisu is announced as the most popular god HAHA - at the matchmaking, Hiyori’s paired up with guys Yato does not accept so he cuts THE CORD OMFG DKM SO HE SETS OUT TO FIND HER A SUITABLE MATE & KOFUKU REVEALS THE GODS ALSO HAVE SOULMATES :O AND YATO’S CARD ISN’T PAIRED WITH ANYONE’S SO KOFUKU TIES THEIRS TOGETHER AIDFJVLAKDFNLVKADFN AHHHHHHH <3 <3 Kazuma can’t find Bishamon anywhere and she’s at the entrance to the Underworld :O Kazuma goes to Iwami, Ebisu’s old Shinki & he tells Kazuma that there was once a hafuri (blessed shinki like Kazuma & YUkine) who had great power but it failed to protect its master & was sealed away - Bishamon must defeat the sorcerer but won’t use her own Shinki against it, so she opens this box that sealed this hafuri :O AND SHE OFFERS IT A DEAL; THE DEATH IT HAS ALWAYS WANTED, A FINAL RESTING PLACE & HEAVEN’S HEAD ON A PLATTER :O OH SHITTT AND THE NEW SHINKI BECOMES THIS MASK ON HER FACE WITH A CAPE & SWORD :O :S DOESN’T LOOK LIKE GOOD NEWS THOUGH

Things are looking (a little bit) (and not for long) up for our favorite trio, especially as Yato is invited to the banquet reuniting every god. This banquet is a way for the author to tie in even more the traditions of Japan to the plot, which I adored. The more traditional and cultural aspect of Noragami gives it such a charm, it makes the reader wants to know more.
It's also a way to introduce new characters, like a mysterious new god and his charming shinki. I have no idea what to make of the two of them so far, but they do seem very interesting and I can't wait to know more about them, especially with the last panel of chapter 58. I wonder how they will tie in with the sorcerer.
As always, I'm so in love with the bond of the main trio. I loved how protective Yukine was during this entire chapter. He would definitely pick Yato over anyone else. The growth he went through compared to the very first chapters! Also, can we please talk about Hiyori possibly considering Yato as her soulmate ? Will their relationship finally progress ?
Sadly, with the way the volume ended, I can already tell the break from the angst won't last long. Bishamon is grieving and is ready to do anything to get her revenge. I wonder how this will affect our main characters.
I'm not gonna lie maybe I'm just getting a little tired of it by now. Like it's been pretty good but it just feels so repetitive like we aren't getting anywhere but then keep meeting new characters.
Plus I don't really care when it focuses on Bishamon and the other gods too much. I did like the divine meeting and the party though lol the god contest was great. A cat beating Yato in the polls.😭
It's a lot of Bishamon dealing with Kazuma and how he took down her shinki that went boss mode. Then a lot of Yukine being upset at Kazuma and telling Yato to stay away from him but obviously Yato doesn't ever do what he's told.
Yato messing with Hiyori's fate and who her soulmate is lmao. Like I think it's cute but then I'm starting to get pissed off because of how obsessive he is to her. And then Hiyori doesn't really do anything for herself anyway like she's just constantly hanging around them and for what? Moral support?
Then Bishamon goes off and does some more crazy shit by herself like okay queen !! I see the vision with the new outfit but then I hate it just as much as her old one.💀 Wild how many shinki outfits she even has lmao.
Bishamonten is dealing with the aftermath of what happened with one of her shinki, as is Kazuma who had to help her. No one really knows what happened, though; they’re not allowed to. Bishamon and Yato are trying to figure out what to do, on their own, about the crafter/Yato’s dad. It’s complicated, but Bishamon has thought up a surprising possibility, and she goes after it in this volume.
There’s also a divine counsel in this volume, where all of the gods get together for a party, to debate on important things, and for a matchmaking. Yato meets some interesting new gods. He also causes some trouble for Hiyori’s possible future, though Kofuku also helps him with it. That should be interesting. We also get to see more of Ebisu, whom I still quite love.
This was another fantastic volume. The humor is still the best, and balanced perfectly with all the serious moments, and the main plot is definitely getting deep and dark. I can’t wait for the next one, though we’ll be caught up then.
It is time for the annual Divine Counsel in heaven and Yato is excited as this is his first time as a recognized (albeit minor) God. He intends to take along a reluctant Yukine (still smarting from his unexpected encounter with Kazuma) and a startled but eager Hiyori.
Bishamonten is reeling from the death of one her precious Shinkis and the bond between Bishamon and Kazuma is feeling the aftershocks.
As the Crafter (Yato’s dad) is still a simmering yet dangerous force to be reckoned with, new Gods with hidden agendas are also joining the fray. And Bishamon decides to take a drastic step that might just shake up the heavenly domain in dangerous ways.
This volume effectively sets the stage for future and enticing developments. After what felt like a few filler episodes, I feel that there is going to be some high-octane drama and action in the upcoming volumes.
Volviendo a Noragami!
