Ninety percent of our lives are determined by our fate, and our fates are determined by our "souls." But every now and then, something goes wrong and the souls of those who have met an untimely fate also pollute their environs, drawing more souls into a vicious circle of ill fate. Sakurai and Amano are an odd-couple team who have been hired to deal with the problems that arise from these tainted souls and have been tasked with finding those who are heading to an early grave to either prevent them from dying or collect their livingstones before they do further damage.

Siguiendo la línea continuista de ir presentando diversos casos, en esta ocasión parece que hubieran leído mi crítica anterior y dan un poco más de sí. Indagamos un poco más en nuestros protagonistas y las historias de este volumen son las mejores. El autor me hace cuestionarme la vida, en lo que importa nuestros actos hasta una muerte que obviamente sucederá en algún momento. Si tengo que añadir algo es que el dibujo de Jinsei Kataoka sigue siendo una auténtica delicia para la vista. El próximo volumen será el último para la historia y tras el final de este estoy seguro de que me caerá la lagrimilla.

Una mejora sustancial respecto a los tomos anteriores. El guionista parece haber mejorado tanto en narrativa como en temática, mientras que Kataoka sigue siendo tan espectacular visualmente como siempre, arriesgando cada vez más en paneling.

Las historias pasan de relacionarse con la naturaleza del alma a tomar eso como la base para tratar temas más trascendentes. Una vez aclarados los matices del alma, los relatos se permiten o bien hablar de un tema en concreto o bien comenzar a perfilar la dirección a la que irá el último tomo. El primer relato muestra las consecuencias del oficio de las protagonistas a través del efecto mariposa, dedicándose a la introspección. De la tensión de ese relato se pasa al segundo, que mezcla el autodescubrimiento de Amano con el valor de la vida y el recuerdo en favor de la realidad de una muerte a todas luces ridícula para una leyenda. El tercero, de forma bastante dura, deja atrás el optimismo genérico de tomos anteriores en favor de una resolución trágica: hay gente que prefiere la muerte porque es mejor que una vida de marginación social y autoodio. Me gusta cómo el cuarto contrasta este final trágico aunque optimista con una historia de amor cuyo mensaje es antes "recordar a la persona por sus mejores momentos" que pasar página a través del olvido. Y, no sé si en una especie de éxtasis creativo, Maekawa llegó a la conclusión de que el quinto relato debía ser uno especialmente grotesco, como recordando que en la vida hay buenos momentos, pero cuyo valor reside en la existencia de los malos.

El último relato, a diferencia de los anteriores, se dedica totalmente a la trama principal. Tras tratar numerosos temas que perfilan distintos puntos de vista sobre el alma y la vida, es el momento más adecuado para comenzar a debatir la naturaleza de Amano como ser vivo. Es un giro de tuerca muy agradecido y la única manera que se me ocurre para cerrar una serie sobre agentes del alma: virar hacia el interior de los personajes, reflexionando sobre sus propias almas.

Creo que ya se nota por los temas de cada relato que Maekawa ha mejorado mucho como guionista. Aunque siga cometiendo errores que no confían del todo en la inteligencia del lector o se exceda con la manipulación emocional (la bondad del chaval en el primer relato es, sin duda, la prueba más clara del "ay, es que es tan bueno que no se lo merece"), se nota que ha ido perfilándose como persona a lo largo de la serie hasta el punto de ser capaz de tratar temas controvertidos sin darles un final artificiosamente bonito. Se enfrenta al drama de la vida de cara, como indicando que Livingstone siempre había querido ser esto: un compendio de relatos no sobre el alma, sino sobre las personas que la encarnan.

Oh yeah we’re getting to something here, with our MCs being conflicted about their work and what they actually do, it’s very deep and you can see the characters realizing what their world is, it can go south and I’m here for it, I just know the last part is going to be interesting.

I really dug this volume (more so than the last two) mainly because the stories that are here. The sweet one about memories, and the murderer, and then my favorite about our main hero all really connected well. It made me sad, it made me happy, it made me question what life is about. I think that's what the author is going for. To let you question what we do in life till we die, and what's important, and to me he succeeds at doing that.

We get a little more meat for the main story with our main characters and you learn their major weakness and what could happen if they go down this certain road. A scary one it is, and it looks like they might go deeper next volume. I have a feeling this story is going to hit all the feels, and I'ma be sad, yet happy.

Que buen tercer tomo. Mi favorito ya que creo que los casos que presentan son muy variados e interesantes, junto con los dilemas morales que va presentado y la evolución de los protagonistas. El primer capítulo, el del hombre con amnesia y la mujer mayor me han llegado al corazón.

La cosa cada vez se pone más intensa y dramática para nuestros protas. Voy a leer ahora mismo el cuarto tomo. Necesito saber qué pasa.

The two teams of collectors band together to clean up the Stain infection in the hospital. Though Sakurai and Amano are less experienced, they are instrumental in the process. They earn the respect of their counterparts.

Unlike Amano, Sakurai has alway been aware of the importance of their job. The importance is further brought home when he inadvertantly prevents the death of a soul that has reached the end of its Plan. The potential repercussions are far-reaching, even worldwide. Sakurai and Amano must fix this, but the man they saved would never consider giving his acceptance to die. Every moment of being alive outside the Plan is breaking his soul. He later dies of seemingly natural causes, returning the world on the right path.

The duo's next case has them investigate the death of a respected grafitti artist. His friends believe he was killed for his art, though the truth is far less spectacular. Sakurai reads his living stones and finds out that the artist died in a skateboarding accident. His friends reject the idea, still considering him a legend.

The duo from the hospital is back. They need Sakura's help to return the memories of a man with amnesia who tried to kill himself. Remembering his tragic life where he alienated his family and lived alone and in misery determines the man to accept the retrieval of his soul. He never wanted to kill himself, though he was dead inside for years.

The story of the old woman is the most emotional one yet. She is often seen having a picnic on the beach and talking alone. She in fact sees the ghost of her long-dead husband. Amano figures out this is due to his living stone which ended up in the water near the beach after he died trying to save his dog from the river. Though she is conscious that she will never see her husband's form any more, the old woman is content.

Tug was my fave volume. We finally get some insight into what the people who see stainbeasts really are and development of Amano’s character. I’m sad the next volume is the last.

It’s a very un-American concept and maybe that’s why I like this series so much: the idea that we’re basically slaves to our destinies, that even things that happen that seem good are actually bad bc it goes against the natural order. (After all is there anything more “American” than bucking fate?)

Manga satu ini,bukan seperti manga yg biasa kubaca.Ceritanya lebih mirip sebuah novella.Manga tentang jiwa,arti hidup,rancangan hidup dan kebebasan memilih.Maekawa sensei adalah juga seniman teater.Jadi penceritaan penuh makna ala teater mungkin ia bawa ke manga ini.Amano kelihatannya menyadari sesuatu tentang masa lalunya.Kenapa Amano ke Okinawa!??Menarik menanti penutup manga ini.

The plot thickens. Somehow ceritanya jadi membuat pembaca lebih berpikir dan bertanya-tanya mengenai latar belakang Amano. Bagaimana mungkin seseorang memiliki tubuh tapi tak punya jiwa? Rasa-rasanya tak ada gunanya hidup jika begitu keadaannya.

Meskipun setelah membaca volume 2-nya sudah terbaca bagaimana akhirnya. Dan dapat dipastikan bahwa akan diakhiri dengan bad end. Cerita yang dibawakan di volume ke-3 ini benar-menarik. Di volume 2, diceritakan berbagai kondisi dari sisi 'manusia'nya. Sedang di volume 3, diceritakan berbagai kondisi dari 'jiwa' dan interaksi di sekelilingnya.

Me han gustado mucho las historias que se cuentan en este tomo, especialmente la de la anciana <3 Y por fin parece que se va animando un poco el argumento, a ver cómo lo concluyen todo en el último tomo.
