Bestselling author Lea Hart writes sexy, feel-good romances. She loves a sharp quip, an icy gin and tonic, and a long walk when the muse disappears. When she’s not writing, she spends time with her family and friends and attempts to stay on top of her TBR pile.
The dialogue in this is too unbelievable and sappy. I'm not feeling the insta-love and the MCs are not compelling. There's too much telling and not enough showing.
What I liked: 1) We heard the story told from a couple of the characters. Unfortunately, there was no indication when the author was switching from one to another. 2) No ow/om drama. No cheating. This was a book where adults are the MCs, so they were beyond that.
What I didn't like: 1) The dialogue. Too unrealistic and cheesy. 2) Yet another awkward h. Sigh. And she's a runner. Another sigh... 3) The insta-love the H felt for the h. 4) Too sappy. 5) The writing wasn't always easy to follow since the povs changed without indication. 6) I just didn't care too much about either of the MCs. And the whole Stanford five group...it all felt very silly, like this was YA or NA instead of adults. 7) The plot was boring. I've read other sports romances that were a lot more fun, interesting, and compelling than this one.
First of the 4 First and Ten stories of the Miami Sharks. Jack Ellis is Chris' younger brother and the acknowledged best defensive end in the league. He has the lifestyle, money and looks to go with the title. When he meets Birdie's cousin, the brilliant scientist Dr. Ana James, he is floored and vows to make her his. She wants nothing to do with him, having a mistrust of athletes.
Ronnie, Ana's best friend and Jack's manager, tries to warn him off, but Jack is undeterred. He knows that if he can get Ana to see who he really is, she will give him a chance - all he wants.
Their story is interrupted by some things that happen to handsome professional athletes, and is counterbalanced by some really sweet moments in their romance. Well done, Lea.
I read the Coronado series and enjoy it, but First Down its n a league of its own. I wish I could give it 10 starts. Jake Ellis is hot, sexy, sweet, and did I say HOT? Love Anna, smart and funny girl. All I can say is that this is one of the best books I had read in a long time, and I read an average 15 books per month. I don't know Lea Hart, but this book is going to be a tough act to follow, it was that good. I didn't wanted it to end, lol. Hopefully we will have Clark and Ella story soon.
I love when a man falls for a smart geeky woman. I loved Ana's group of friends. I loved this story! I have read every one of Lea Harts books and love the characters (especially the men)! I'm looking forward to the next book! My only hope is that Ronnie DOES NOT get back with Brian...and that Ella wises up! What a fun, entertaining, series!
This was a great book to read. I loved the characters and their story line. I loved the sarcasm and the sweetness from this series. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
