This is book 2 in the series and MC Melinda returns to England to try and find out what happened to her sister Lucy, who we know from book 1 is now living happily in the past. Somehow Melinda manages to get herself lost and take shelter in a castle from a storm which leads to her falling back in time the the 14th Century

This book was a bit of a mixed bag. In places it was convoluted and a bit of a hot mess but also fun and sweet in a really cheesy way. In the beginning there seemed to be a few inconsistencies in terms of the time line and you could really see the author moving the chess pieces to line everything up for the rest of the story to work ( and it seemed a little over the top at times) and at times the writing was a little choppy which pulled me out of the story a little but once I was able to suspend my disbelief and get past the beginning, I actually quite enjoyed the read.

I liked the romance between Melinda and James even if it did seem to come a little easily at first and despite the heavy handedness of the author at times, this book had a sweet and romantic feel that left me with a smile at the end.

I give this book 3 stars.

Oh, Those Knights!

Let's be honest, sometimes it is the greatest fun to get completely lost in a fictional fantasy that is a quick and easy romp into our imagination. These books don't have to be great works of literature. They are here for our pleasure and enjoyment, and I'm honestly a bit tired of people suggesting that you can't give a "best book" label to a romance. Well, guess what? I once more, fell in love with another time-traveling romance, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

The second installment to the Merriweather Sisters Time Travel Romance, Knight Moves, was even better than the first! I loved this book, and I loved the first book. This is a short and sweet novel that I was able to finish in a couple of hours, and I think that is awesome. Some times you need a sweet short read for the middle for a lazy Sunday afternoon and you don't want to be trapped in a slogging tomb of literary precision that requires more brainpower than an average work day (I'm looking at you Fates and Furies.)

Knight Moves doesn't require a lot of information, a woman travels back in time to find her sister and true love. Sounds simple enough, but I enjoyed this book so much I did not set it down once. The author has a true talent and gift for telling a story that keeps you riveted to the page. At no time did I want to leave my imaginary blissfully happy bubble, and that tells me that this was as perfect of a book as it could be. I highly recommend this book if you are a true romantic at heart.

The idea behind these books is fine. I kept reading because I wanted to know what happened to the characters in the end. However, the actual writing is jumpy and confusing at times. Also, there are parts that are just unnatural and unbelievable.

CAPTIVATING, HEARTWARMING AND DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!!
Title: Knight Moves
Series: Merriweather Sisters Time Travel
Designation: Book Two of Series, Can be read as Standalone, NO cliffhanger
Author: Cynthia Luhrs
My Rating: Five Delightfully Entertaining Stars*****
Several days ago I happened upon a free download from Amazon for a time travel romance entitled A Knight to Remember. Well, that got my attention. I adore time travel, completely smitten with medieval English knights, totally enamored with any genre that contains romance and always a sucker for a free read. Admittedly, I'd never heard of Cynthia Luhrs but at the time, it had 56 reviews with the majority of them being positive. I even read the free sample which never includes much but does give me a general feel for the author's overall style and flow. I can generally glean sufficient information from the first few pages, allowing me to make an informed decision about the book. Obviously, I was duly impressed and decided to give Cynthia Luhrs an opportunity to entertain me for a few hours. And that she did! I totally loved it and was absolutely overjoyed to learn that there were two more books already available in the Merriweather Sisters Time Travel Series so I raced back to Amazon to check them out. And blessed be, I couldn't believe my good fortune when I discovered that I could purchase the entire series in one convenient collection. Well, I quickly one-clicked and began a most wonderful weekend on an adventure with the remaining two Merriweather sisters. Best decision - ever! I loved the second book even more than the first. In fact, I enjoyed this series so much, I'm taking the time to leave a review for each of the books as well as the entire bundle. This review is for Knight Moves, the second full-length release of the Merriweather Sisters Time Travel Trilogy. Personally, I believe each of the books could probably be read as a standalone but why would you want to when you can get all three in one fabulous and very economical collection? However, the author does a fabulous job of giving ample backstory in the second book so the reader can easily follow along without confusion. I found Knight Moves to be imaginative, exciting, fast-paced, easy to follow, exceptionally well-crafted and well edited with the perfect blend of danger, drama, adventure and sweet romance. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with his and her perspectives from the two protagonists, beautiful, outspoken, twenty-six-year-old, modern day North Carolinian Melinda Merriweather, the eldest of the three sisters, and handsome, scarred, long-suffering medieval English knight James Rivers, the Lord of Falconburg. Obviously, since the heroine travels almost 700 years into the past to the year 1327, the story also includes historical elements, not much, but enough to be convincing which I thought were well done. Historical romance has never been my favorite genre, simply because I'm unfamiliar with the correct use of language and terminology but I was able to easily follow the dialogue which I also found to be well executed, realistic and at times, quite humorous. But without a doubt, my favorite component of this entire series is the fascinating cast of characters. I thought them to be intriguing as well as very engaging. If I'm not drawn into a story by its characters, then it's usually a deal-breaker for me but I found myself immediately liking the feisty, outspoken Melinda 'Mellie' Merriweather and completely caught up in her journey to the past. And unlike her sister Lucy, the first sister who traveled to the past quite by happenstance, Melinda's expedition was somewhat intentional. She was convinced her sister was alive in the past, not dead as proclaimed by the authorities and determined to somehow find her. I was completely smitten with the gruff, growly, ill-tempered James Rivers who, at one time, had been a very handsome, outgoing noble but had become a broken man because of his disfigurement as well as his emotional scars. My heart just broke for this man and Melinda was the perfect match for him, not willing to accept or tolerate his attitude nor his self-pity. Although this story is classified as a romance, there's very little actual romance. lol... And no sex at all... zip... none...nada. There is a great deal of heated attraction, very obvious mutual attraction and quite a few steamy kisses between Melinda and James but that's pretty much it. Hey, what can I say? I like a little sex to spice things up and was somewhat disappointed to discover there was none. Generally, I only read romance that at least includes a little sex but I truly didn't notice there were no sex scenes until after I finished the first book of the series and the same held true for the second. lol... And what does that tell me? That the author did a fabulous job of entertaining me and surprisingly, without any sex. Color me impressed! There were a few curse words and I do mean very few; I could count them on maybe two fingers. So, yes, I would agree with the author's rating, this book is a safe read for young adults, twelve and older. So the first question is, did I like this book? Oh my goodness, yes! I truly liked the first book and loved the second even more. Would I recommend it? You bet and I am, and I truly believe it's suitable for ages 12 and over. Will I read this author again? You bet! As soon as I finished her first book, I subscribed to her newsletter so I would be informed of all her future releases. And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Once I started reading, I simply could not stop. I read long into the night with the hours passing as quickly as the pages. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

Twenty-six-year-old Melinda Merriweather refused to believe her sister, Lucy, had fallen accidentally to her death and washed out to sea while traveling in England with her wealthy boyfriend Simon Grey, the supposed Lord Blackford, to visit his family's castle. The authorities claimed one of the walls of Blackford Castle had crumbled during a storm and the couple had plunged to their death with both their bodies swept out to sea by the currents. Hogwash! She'd lost her parents as a child and her Aunt Pittypat died of a heart attack the same day Lucy went missing. Now all she had left in the world was her younger sister Charlotte. She didn't know how but she somehow knew there was more to the story. She refused to accept Lucy's death and knew her only course of action was return to England to investigate for herself. And her suspicions were further confirmed when an unknown assailant tried to murder her on the way to the airport to board a plane bound for England. What? Yup, and he almost succeeded after he ran her car off the road and then tried to shoot her, claiming he was finishing the job he had been hired to do even though his client was dead. Did that mean Simon Grey had hired someone to kill her? Apparently so, and not just her...Charlotte was to be killed as well. Fortunately, the assassin was killed by police before he could finish the job, but unfortunately, Melinda spent five months in a coma as a result of her injuries. But when she awoke, there were gaps in her memory. She may have forgotten a lot, but one thing she knew for sure, she had to go to England and investigate Lucy's disappearance. And surprisingly, the more clues she discovered, the more convinced she became that Lucy had somehow traveled to the past. Huh? Oh yes! But could she accomplish the impossible and travel back in time to find her??? We'll see!

So in closing I will simply say, if you're looking for a riveting time travel/historical saga filled with danger, drama, adventure, suspense, angst, humor and heartwarming romance with a slight supernatural twist, then this is most assuredly the book for you. Now, it's on to Book Three, Lonely is the Knight. And FYI, all three books are available in one convenient collection and as of August 14, 2016, on sale for only 99 pennies but I don't know for how long so you better hurry! Best 99 pennies I ever spent!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!!! I felt this book was much better overall than the author's first novel, "A Knight To Remember". In comparison, this story flowed so much better than the first installment. Though still fast paced and not bogged down in detail, it didn't feel jumpy or that perhaps parts of the story were missing. That was one of my criticisms of the first book. This novel also had a much better set up to the time travel, in my opinion.

The author really hit her stride in this 2nd book, smoothing over the rough edges of the first, and offering her readers a truly warm charming story with a Beauty and the Beast theme to it. Overall, I am giving this book 4.5 stars....only taking off 1/2 a star for a few glaring consistency errors. It did not stop me from loving this story though! What a great series this is turning out to be! Fun, light-hearted, and enchanting! I'm looking forward to the next one, "Lonely Is The Knight"!

I wasn’t feeling this one. I really liked the first book and this was an easy read through but I just couldn’t get into it. I think it’s that it took to long to get the good parts and I really didn’t feel the romance on this one. I did enjoy the end though so I’m looking forward to reading the next book.

** I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.**

Once I started reading 'Knight Moves' I literally did not put it down. I was hooked from book one, 'A Knight to Remember' and continue to want more. The storyline is so brilliantly written that it's full of strong and well formed characters that it pulls you in. I love the time-travel aspect. The way it played out was full of humor, self awareness growth and of course, romance. Melinda is a feisty red head whom is quite challenging and definitely a spitfire. She's headstrong and opinionated. She made the best lead, except when it came to directions- she will almost always get lost. Add James to the mix and you get a great combination of a battle of wits. He projects himself of being a strong willed man to those around him, but then we see his point of view of pain and heartache due to his visible scars from battles. But the beauty of it was when Melinda saw his inner self and explained, quite beautifully, that what makes us desirable comes from within- that is where our true beauty lies. And then things get interesting, for a lack of a better word. I can't say too much more without giving away spoilers. 'Merriweather Sisters Timetravel Romance' series is definitely a must add to your tbr list. I can't wait for book three. Highly recommended.

Melinda "Mellie" Merriweather won't believe that her sister Lucy is dead. Mellie won't stop until she has the answers she seeks much to her sister Charlotte's dismay. Mellie is determined but not the free spirit that Charlotte is. When Mellie's terrible sense of direction proves true in modern 2016 and in the past 1327. Mellie has her hopes raised that she might find her sister Lucy but runs a foul of outlaws. James Rivers is Lord of Falconburg or more often called The Beast of Falconburg because of his scars. It seems that no lady is willing to have him now. James doesn't like who he's become since his disfigurement yet can't see the man beneath the scars. James finds Mellie wandering around his land. James at first believes that Mellie is a spy but what she says has the ring of truth to it. Will James accept that he has someone waiting for him? Will Mellie get the answers she seeks? Your answers await you in Knight Moves.

The sequel is a well crafted story the interlocks with the first book. For me, the characters and story were flawed in a good way; raw; honest; compelling; interesting; and complex. I'm really curious about the next book in the series. Overall I enjoyed the book as much as the first one.

This is a great series. This is the second book and tells the story of the second sister to go back to 14th century England.

Melinda is a fiery red-head with no sense of direction. This usually leads to disaster for her but lots of humour for us. James is a badly scarred knight with a new battle to fight - how to win back his self-esteem and believe that he is worthy of love.

Between the two of them we are taken on a magical journey across time with love, lots of 'aaww bless' moments and humour.

It was great to catch up with Lucy and William from book one too.

I couldn't put this book down and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I cant wait for book 3 and the third sister.

I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you.

What a great sequel to A Knight to Remember! There were many things about this story and its execution that make it a little better than its predecessor, but I won't say more to avoid spoiling the ending. This is definitely a sequel; you should read about the first Merriweather sister before sinking into this story. I'm looking forward to reading about the third sister!

This book was a bit better than the first one. If #1 in the series was the author's first book, then I can already see a bit of improvement. This book wasn't free from Amazon but $2.99 was in my price range and it wasn't a bad price so I bought it.

For one thing, the time-traveling heroine wasn't quite as nieve and (well) stupid. This series deals with the Merriweather sisters (Lucy, Melinda, and Charlotte). Lucy has already gone back to the year 1307 and it's believed that she's fell off a cliff. Her sister, Melinda, however, does not believe it one bit. She knew Lucy's itinerary so she makes plans to go to the castle her sister was visiting. Once there, Melinda goes into book stores and does a bit of research. She also finds a note, thanks to a mysterious raven that showed up in the first book, from Lucy.

Melinda's trip back in time happens in a different way than Lucy's trip did which was a nice touch. She also lands back in the year 1327. Her "knight in shining armor" is completely different than Lucy's and the part of the plot gives off a "Beauty and the Beast" vibe. Melinda is, thank God, not as nieve as Lucy and catches on pretty quick to what has happened and why. She is sometimes a little dense and acts stupid but it works for her.

The missed lines of dialogue were missing in this book for which I was very thankful for. Someone has also edited the book and I'm thankful for that too. I'm glad the author is improving and even though I enjoyed the first book, this one was much better. Because there was such an improvement, I went to Amazon and bought the 3rd in the series that deals with Charlotte for $4.99.

New favorite series!

I really like the author's writing style and how she perfectly blends romance and adventure. Most historical romance books should learn a few tricks from this series. I literally slept at 5 am just to finish book and the next. The author has the ability to literally drag you in time. A rare talent for writers today. Obviously, the author don't need cliffhangers to force the reader to continue reading, she just have this magnetic pull that every word needs to be devoured.

Castle ruins can change your future . . . . or your past

Melinda Merriweather has not yet accepted that her missing sister, Lucy, is dead. Her sister Charlotte urges her to let go of the past and get on with her life. After she is almost murdered by an assassin, Melinda flies to England and visits Blackford Castle ruins where Lucy supposedly died.

Returning to London to look for more information about the castle, Melinda visits an art gallery where she sees a painting of a couple with their five children. Looking closer, she is stunned to discover that the woman is Lucy!

After driving in the wrong direction, Melinda reaches Falconburg Castle where she takes refuge during a violent storm. Lightning strikes so close that she loses consciousness. When she regains her senses, she learns that she has returned to the year 1327.

The beginning of the second book of this series is more plausible than the first, as Melinda's story begins with her looking for her sister, Lucy. It makes more sense why she would be in Scotland. There are many amusing bits like Melinda's appalling sense of direction; it does lead her to where she needs to be. I liked that she travelled to the time right for her romance with James, and that it was 20 years after Lucy met her knight. It makes it more real that the times were different.
Some of the historical inaccuracies are forgiven as Melinda finds Lucy well settled with a wealthy husband. There would still be some objections to her modern mannerisms, but Lucy paved the way to some extent.
This story flows better but this might be because I was already used to the writing style and had accepted the first story enough for this one to flow on.

I really enjoyed this book. I didn't win it so I asked my local library to order it in. It is the first of Cynthia's books I have read but I will certainly be reading more in the future.

Easy to read, quirky, fun, believable time travel. Certainly place it amongst the top books I have read in this genre and I've read lots.

Just to let Cynthia know I was paying attention, one wee error. She says she arrives on Feb 14th but then later on April Fool's Day says it is a month since she arrived. Certainly did not detract from the excellent read it is. After the first two chapters I couldn't put it down.

Thanks for the entertainment. Most women would like to meet a man like James, be it in the now or 7 centuries ago :)

Battle Scared

James! What can I say? A knight wounded in battle at the tender age of 22, now he believes he will never have a wife due to his facial scares. Melinda Merryweather off to find her sister Lucy who disappeared the year before, presumed dead. This is what begins as another exciting journey begins for the second book which I was looking very forward to reading, and I was not disappointed. Melinda has a different journey with where she has landed, thanks to her inability of finding her right way. Unlike Lucy Melinda ends up with more freedom right from the beginning, and is usually up to some mischief that James ends up having to rescue her from. It’s more lighthearted in some ways, and I found myself smiling at the antics. An enjoyable read.

I kept going back and forth on this book. I did not read the first book in the series (I picked this up for a challenge) but other than the purpose of Melinda's journey, I don't think much was missing. Melinda is searching for her missing sister and ends up time travelling to 14th century England. She turns up at a castle belonging to James Rivers, the Red Knight, aka Lord Falconburg. He's been disfigured in a fight and is now feared across the country due to his scars. Melinda convinces James to take her to another castle to see if her sister is there, so they travel across the area fighting off bad guys in the process. There were plenty of eye roll moments, but I do find myself wanting to read the 1st and 3rd books - 3.5 stars.

What a fun time travel story! I enjoyed this much more than book 1--probably because I had my expectations set much more realistically. The first book's Lucy had seemed the typical time traveler who speaks idiomatically and does stupid things. That was kind of how Mellie was but either I expected it or it was not so overdone and I was fine and enjoyed the whole "chick lit" nature of the story. I am plowing on to book 3. Can't wait. These are squeaky clean in terms of sex, IMO.

An excellent time travel romance. The author really brings the 1300's alive with vivid descriptions, sounds and smells. You really feel as if you are there alongside the heroine. This is a super read, a real page-turner with plenty of surprises. I found myself rooting for the hero and heroine but never really knowing how their love would work out. Well-crafted tension and a perfect romance. I strongly recommend this book.

Book Two

Another Sister is thrust back in time looking for Lucy. This is way better than the first book. Again the plot is very good with both heroine and hero properly dashing around with dangerous fare doings. No one throws up, and the book launched into the story directly without a long descriptive narrative. The author has it together and this time traveling tale is excellent.

Loved this!

But I did find 2 mistakes. I guess your proofreader got caught up in the story and forgot their job briefly. Even though mistakes and typos drive me crazy, 2 isn’t enough to distract from a great time travel story in a fascinating saga! Kinda neat to see the sisters end up so far apart in age. Can’t wait to see where Charlotte ends up (although I think I know with whom!).

Travels in Time

Wow, what a wonderful story! I feel like I have spent the whole day and evening in Medieval England. What a wonderful way to spend a day. The Romance was great and the characters were so witty and fun to spend time with. The two men in this series so far, have been such a joy to spend my day on. I gave it 5 stars for it's entertainment value alone. I highly recommend this book and should be read after book one.

Good clean romance.

I love all of the Characters. The story doesn't get boring at all. There is a lot of action and fun. I love it when an Author can keep the book going without having to use sex as a filler. This is a romantic story even my daughter can read. I am so excited that there are many more to read and I will definitely be following the Author. She's brought my love of reading romance back.
