Ronin MC #1

Tread: Biker Romance

Rate this book
GRACE
For me, growing up did not imply independence. My whole life has been paved before me like a well-traveled road. My twenty-first birthday signaled the end of my father’s rule, and the beginning of my husband’s—where I am expected to churn out infinite children with a smile.

As I stare at the oversized Temple doors, weighed down by more than yards of heavy, white lace, I do what I have never done before.

I make a decision for myself.

I decide to run.

TREAD
Being in a motorcycle club is in my DNA, as is the military requirement to join. I served, I fought, and I survived the crucible of grueling training and intense combat. I returned to my club with newfound respect for right, wrong, and the shades of gray that connect them.

By day, I work at Ronin Auto, pulling things apart, fixing the problem, and putting them back together.

Grace and her nonfunctioning, little sedan prove to be a hiccup in a well-oiled machine.

Because by night, I smuggle soft felons into Mexico.
With things heating up at the border, and a missing MC family member, the last thing I need is an innocent to worry about.

But something about Grace makes me want to take apart all of her pieces to figure out how someone so beautiful has never even been kissed.

Against my better judgment, I strike a bargain with the little, blue-eyed beauty, and it changes everything I thought I knew. About women. About the club. About the man I’ve become.

2.5 Stars

Overall Opinion: This was just kind of meh for me. I found their relationship cute and entertaining, but there was way too much mc business related drama for me. I skimmed a lot of this book, because I honestly wasn't interested in their illegal runs. I don't think I can even give it a full 3 "just ok" stars because of the amount I skimmed, so that is the main reason for my 2.5 star rating.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Grace and Tread's story. Grace runs away from her uber strict family and her arranged wedding day only to have her car break down in a little town and get thrown into the mc life by some of the girls from the club. She meets Tread at the club. Because of her strict upbringing, she doesn't know what to think of all the things she experiences at the club. Tread reluctantly get assigned babysitting duty of Grace, and they start a friendship of sorts that turns into more. There is some typical mc action, some sexy moments, and some sweet moments...and the couple eventually get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Grace and Tread's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Ok. I did skim a good bit in this one. I'm finding that I do this more and more with mc romances. I skim through the mc business stuff and skip through to the relationship stuff (or at least the interactions between the h and H). I haven't really had any troubles with following along with the story even though I had done this, so it makes me think that what I skipped wasn't all that relevant to their story.

Instalove: No. I felt like there was adequate time for them to develop their feelings.

H rating: 4 stars. Tread. I liked him. I liked the fact that once he interacted with Grace, no other woman existed for him. He didn't have any OW drama at all even though it was hinted that he used the club girls in the past.

h rating: 3 stars. Grace. She was naive and sweet, and I liked how she gained confidence in who she really is.

Sadness level: Low. No tissues necessary.

Heat level: Moderate, but kind of low for a mc romance.

Descriptive sex: Yes.

Safe sex: Yes and no. Some scenes mention condom use, while other don't.

OW/OM drama: No

Sex scene with OW or OM: Yes

Cheating:

Possible Triggers:

Closure: This didn't have enough closure for me at all. I would call it a HFN ending.

How I got it: It was part of my scribed subscription.

Safety: Safe with exception

Wow what to tell you about this book… I have to say that I enjoyed every minute that it took to read this story. It is one that will not let you down. You are taken into a world of the MC life and let me tell you feel like you are right in the heart of it.
Grace runs from a life of religious and parental control. Having felt all her life that there was more to being told what to do in life, she sets out on her own. Having her car break down, she is at the mercy of some very helpful women. These women bring the one man into Grace’s life that will turn it upside down. Tread not only is a member of the Ronin MC he is also a veteran that suffers from PTSD among other issues. Tread is the all around bad boy that just can’t get out of your head. He has a fierce love for those that are dear and close to him, he will to the ends of the earth to protect them. It is amazing to see how these two grow.
I was amazed to be how much you are taken in to this story. The handle on what someone with PTSD might go through is touch on very well in this story. You are given just enough to make you feel the fear that is felt. The suspense in this book is great you are kept just on the edge the whole time this story is coming alive. I’m looking to reading more from Justin & Brandace Morrow.

I am a fan of MC books and this one did not disappoint! I like how Grace came into her own after the type of life she lived at home. Tread is the bad boy, but he also has a heart of gold when it comes to those he loves. Grace first gets a glimpse of Tread in all his glory. This new exciting but dangerous life she finds herself in, opens her eyes to a whole new world. It was nice to see her grow and change. When Grace goes missing, will Tread be her hero? Or will it be too late? Find out! I will warn you, this one does end in a cliff hanger, but you will be wanting the next book!

The plot is a little out there and has some eyebrow raising moments but overall a good read. Tread seems to be trying to find his place. Grace is very much caught in the middle of something overwhelming. Lots of action and mayhem. Good love scenes. Some humor.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this read. Wasn't sure what to expect, with so many MC genre books out there but this one was pretty good. Good balance in what I like in a book. Looking forward to hopefully another installment to this series.
