I would say that it is important to listen to the first book in this series as this story flows on from that.

What did I like about the story?

Once again, breaking down what I liked about this story is incredibly difficult because I just enjoyed every aspect of it.

The wonderful Michelle and the elf Elron are becoming closer and he is such a wonderful character that adds a rich texture to the story. Other new characters and aspects of power are introduced and there is so much more information that pulls you deeper into the story.

We learn more about some of the history of Michelle's parents and their clans and the threat that Michelle's use of incredible power could bring to her because of the attraction drawn Michelle's maternal grandmother but also other clans who will want to have access to Michelle and her magical abilities.

A great shock near the end of this book turns the story on it's head and puts Michelle and Elron in a painful situation.

This journey does just get better and better.

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how they achieve this?

E. Conneely is a great author, winding so many different elements through the story without complicating it at all.  The supernatural characters still have experiences, emotions and characters that are also human characteristics which helps to draw you to the characters and like or dislike them.

What about the narration?

The narration by Jeff Hays , Soundbooth Theater is completely brilliant. The voices of the characters work so well and characters flow one to another seamlessly. The narrating of the story is flawless and the way that the dialogue is delivered draws you in.

Final thought..

The pairing of N.E. Conneely and Jeff Hays , Soundbooth Theater is an outstanding one. I cannot wait to listen to the third book in this 3 book set.

This second in the series is just as wonderfully enjoyable as the first book in this box set.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Jeff Hays. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

A Witch's Path is just a continuation of Witch for Hire. Michelle's running all over to help different police depts, going from one scene to another, it just tires me out! Her parents still won't tell her about her witch's mark, which makes no sense. It's getting old! 'm done with this series.

Book reviewed as part of book tour.

Wow this second installation was a doozy. I love that it picked up right where first left off. It had none of that time wasting recap stuff, this series seems to expect you to keep up and know your lore. I like that, didn't dumb it down but just gave enough information to know what is going on and keep moving with the plot. The previous book tied things up while setting up the next story, and this book just picks that up and runs with it.

The plot is fast-moving and intense at times. We see just how talented and strong our Witchy friend is and I'm a fan of Michelle already! She's smart, compassionate, and driven to find the solutions to help the people around her.

The narration voice and style definitely grew on me by the second book, and I no longer felt the voice for Michelle was awkward now that I'm used to it. The other voices and accents are great, like before, so I'm on board with this male narrator. I don't think I've had a male narrator for a female main character before so it took a book to get me comfortable with the voice. But it's great now.

I'm still a bit thrown off when the POV changes. It's mostly Michelle's narrative, but sometimes we get the elf Elron's POV and that's ok, but as intermittent as it is, it feels strange to do that. Then one time we have one of the villain's POV and that was a bit awkward. Sure, we got to know his motivation, but perhaps that would have been better done as a 3rd person rather than switch the perspective for just one chapter.

As for the villains in this book - there's a lot going on. The troubles Michelle is facing are all connected, but wow were there a lot of fires to put out and murders to investigate. From taming a dinosaur to rescuing a kidnapped friend, Michelle has been busy.

And the book ends on quite the doozy of a reveal, so much emotion and turmoil. Book 3 has a lot of pieces to pick up.

This was such an enjoyable listen! Jeff is talented with voices.

The story has grown from what we scratched the surface of in the first book. The writing feels as it's improved in this book as the story starts to deepen. The cases are becoming darker, and messier. We learn more about clans and Michelle's family. The clans... We do start to see a bit more of the clan talk, not much but we do learn the connections to Michelle and that she's special.

****FULL REVIEW****
*This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBlast dot com, at my request.

Things were to be calming down since the sorceress's death. Michelle is busier than ever. She bounces from one crises to the next. Gremlin troubles, evil presence, looking for gargoyles, suicides of teens, a T-rex attack, and preparing to teach classes. Then her friend Amber is worried she's being stalked and suddenly kidnapped. All while trying to not focus or worry over the death threats she's been getting. It starts to wonder if it's all connected. What demon is out there hunting her and why?

Elron is still at the lodge and working for the university at their garden. They want him full time to build more gardens and are willing to give him a perfect position he can't refuse. Not even with his Calling drawing him to other things.

This was such an enjoyable listen! Jeff is talented with voices. (Which I found out are all him! Not synthesized.) All the different voices bring the story to life and makes it easy and fun to listen to. Jeff adds the emotion of delay in speaking words or that infliction can add, all what we do not get when reading. We hear the concern and worry in voice to go with the words on the page.

Michelle is an amazingly organized woman. It sounds like a lot is happening, which it is, but it's spread out through a few days and Michelle is great at setting things up around the emergency moments. I love that Michelle always keeps a level head and keeps moving forward. With this personality, all the crazy happening around her doesn't feel like it's crazy. She is also responsible and respects the proper ways. Michelle does her best to do as she's to do within the law. She then comes to a point that she can't wait any longer and has to act, but she knows very well what the consequences are and will accept them for her friends life.

Elron is present and wants to help Michelle, so he does show up a bit more to banter with Michelle. Elron still has a past he is working through, and a past that will haunt him (and Michelle...). Michelle and Elron finally come to a friendship that is blooming. It's lovely to see them together here and learn about their pasts as they talk. Elron should be around for a while, at least I'm hoping.

All the characters are a pleasure to read/listen to in this world. They are all diverse in their personalities and actions. I enjoy the troubles and ideas they all bring to the pages.

I've enjoyed the calming ways of Michelle as she fights the evils and dangers of this world. It's a vast world of all sorts of beings and creatures and I look forward to listening to many more stories of Michelle and her adventures.

Book two in the series answers questions and adds a bunch more in their place. I am still digging this series, plenty of intrigue to keep you on your toes. I am enjoying the police procedural feel of this Urban Fantasy. I am eager to see what happens next for Michelle. If you liked the first book in the series, you will find even more to like here.

This alternates between Michelle and Elron, just like in the first book. It helps you really understand each character and the story better through them. I prefer this engaging style. So many plots going on and connecting dots! I adore the energy of this series! I do wish there were more of a flow of information from the backstories, they come slowly.

I was very into this read. I enjoyed the narration by Jeff Hayes, once I sped it up. He does a fantastic job of keeping the voices distinct and easy to follow. I do wish is sounded better at normal speed, however, it just sounds weird. When it is quicker is does sound like a woman and makes for an amazing thing when you realize Jeff is actually a fella. I generally enjoy his work, it is just confusing why it sounds so off at the regular setting.

I had to grab the next book ASAP because this leave you in a little bit of a cliffhanger. Not a nail biting moment, but a serious revelation and a real need to now what comes next!

Good sequel

Four stars because the ongoing clan plot is somewhat tiresome. I really hope it is wrapped up in the next book. I really like Michelle's relationship with Elron, it is very tentative, but sweet. Ty is awesome, the best part of this sequel. The book does everything a sequel should in terms of building on the world begun in the previous book. The mystery, if that is what you want to call it, is secondary to the building of the world and relationships, it is rather light with a rushed, not fully explained resolution. Please don't see my nitpicks as dislike for the book, far from it. I just enjoy the series so much that I wish for the sum of the parts to live up to the whole. A very enjoyable second outing, I will read the next book eagerly. I hope to meet Liam again, or at least other boarders at the lodge. They add marvelous texture and color to the world the author is building so well.

I feel like the whole book is a bit jagged. I know that the ending is left dangling to support the third part of the series, but it all left me feeling ragged. Nothing is resolved, I would almost rather she waited and released the whole thing as an epic. I am not sure that I like any of the characters at this point. Her best friends are both selfish, bad guys are giving them help, witch politics are getting in the way of everything, and the main character is being kept in the dark about so much. Be careful, but we're not going to tell you what you need to watch out for. I am not sure I care enough to finish the series whenever she releases the third novel.

Excellent story, compelling characters

I really have enjoyed these very much. The heroine seems like a real person rather than a female caricature. The fantasy realm is well crafted, interesting and totally lacking in the epic battle scenes and overly descriptive depictions of torture and rape that seem to plague the genre. Minus one star for some minor typos. Much better than other digital books in that regard, but it's a peeve.

Interesting new characters and development, but the conversations in some parts fell stiff, it also needs better editing, there are many mistakes in words missing or changing the right word.

The story develops well, but the character sometimes handicap herself not using all the resources she has o has available, otherwise its quite enjoyable and can't wait for what follows in Michelle's life as she seems heading into interesting times.

Love a strong female lead!

I started the series because I was left hanging in a another...did realize the series was still being written...that said, it too a while to get into the first book. This book was more in depth and easier to follow. I am enjoying the strong-willed main character...she even has her weaknesses, but that only makes her more real. I look forward to the rest of the series.

I absolutely love this new world author N.E. Conneely has created. I enjoy the characters and each story is filled with mystery, intrigue, twists and turns, and so much more.
The narrator Jeff Hays is brilliant. You would have to be a huge audiobook fan to know just how talented this narrator truly is. Overall, another 5 star rating.

A Witch’s Path is the second book in the witch series by NE Conneely, and picks up right where we left off in book one.

Summary:
Michelle Oaks’s life is finally starting to settle down after her last big case. Just a few lingering nightmarish memories to go before she can fully move on. To that end, despite loving her job helping the local police departments, Michelle’s decided to stick to what she knows. She’ll be magical support, and leave the heroism to those more suited. She has a long life to live, and she’s determined to preserve it. Unfortunately, that may be more difficult than she thought. She may have rounded up the trolls and stopped the sorceress controlling them, but the evil behind the movement has vowed its revenge, and Michelle is the focal point. To make matters worse, Michelle’s talent with magic has become known and she’s gotten the attention of at least one clan. Add to that her family keeping secrets from her, a magical creature destroying an entire town, and Elron’s suddenly strange behavior and Michelle isn’t sure which way is up anymore. When her best friend is kidnapped and Michelle finds it may be linked to an unstable werewolf, things go from worse to disastrous. Michelle will have to work hard not to buckle under the pressure, and if she succeeds, she may find answers that change her life, both magical and personal, forever.

**************************
I am really beginning to love Michelle and the magical world she inhabits. The abundance of magic is fascinating and most of the time totally freakin cool. Even struggling after her most recent case, Michelle wields her magic confidently and almost effortlessly. She’s young, but more in tune with who she is and what she can do than those more advanced than her. She’s smart, a critical thinker, and independent, which can also be a weakness for her. She’s a fantastic heroine. There are advancements in her relationships, but not all are exactly positive. Her family situation, makes her relationship with her parents tenuous at best. It’s teetering on a precipice and only time will tell how it will turn out. This book highlighted her relationship with her best friends, too, and I was less than impressed. I can understand the stress Tiffany was under, but she didn’t seem to get that Michelle was under the same, maybe more. It’s as if she expected Michelle to snap her fingers and everything would be okay just because she was a witch. To be honest, Tiffany was also a bit whiny and completely useless under pressure, which makes me doubt her career as a PI. What I absolutely loved was the closeness she reached with Elron. The time they spent together was sweet, and I loved the strengthening of their chemistry and connection. I even like the formal tone a lot of their dialogue takes. Overall, the storyline was entertaining and parts of it continued from book one, building a long term conflict for Michelle to go up against. Questions posed in book one are beginning to be answered, even while more questions are asked. It makes for a read that you can’t help but become engaged in to see what happens next. The situations Michelle often finds herself in, although sometimes dangerous, are exciting and result in some of the coolest aspects of the book. Michelle has a lot to worry about, what with family, Elron, witch clans, and the danger stalking her, and I cannot wait to see what the next book brings. ♡

Know any witches who would be willing to join the police force to keep back the evil and vile supernatural creatures from the light of day? What about any vampires, werewolves, unicorns, or trolls? This supernaturally charged second installment is highly entertaining, mysterious, and growing in paranormal suspense! Conneely has written a series, filled with humans and magical creatures who can both live simultaneously in the same place and still know who each other really is. That is very original and unlike the typical “keep it a secret from humankind”. In this second installment, this witch is still all about no secrets, but how can she protect herself from danger if everyone else is keeping them from her?

Michelle is back at it in this second installment with the spooky and definitely paranormal. First, there are trolls, strange sorcery, then gremlins… as if that wasn’t enough, let’s add cryptic elves and strange suicides plagued with evil. Oh and don’t forget…there are gargoyles. Gargoyles in legend are protectors of magical realms, so that is one nice part about some of the supernatural endeavors that Michelle has to face in this installment. With one case solved, but leaving a lot of questions still floating around, Michelle knows that the other foot is bound to fall soon. Death threats made in bloody letters on her window and huge spiders leaving cryptic death messages as well…it can’t be good. With her budding relationship with Elron, the neighborly elf, she doesn’t quite understand the friendships and family who have her back when she is in trouble. Michelle gets called in by the police department for a magically enhanced T-Rex that is leaving destruction in its wake. She has also been called in to test the bodies of a large mass of suicides among teenagers that just don’t seem natural. Once again, as if that wasn’t enough…one of her best friends is kidnapped and the suspected kidnapper is a rogue werewolf. How is she supposed to be limiting herself from danger when everyone seems to need her help more than ever?

Conneely has a superb story-line and wonderful character development in this second installment. The continuation flows perfectly from the first installment. The characters are snarky, mysterious, humorous, and most importantly magically-inclined. The pace is very fast and provides a sense of thrill and urgency to the story, but not in a bad or harsh way. Since this was an audiobook that was provided, the flow of the story was terrific and the story seems to be well-written in order to flow as well as it does. Hays is virtually impeccable with his audio relay talent. This narrator makes this story come to life, more so than imagery that the readers can come up with through description alone.

A copy of this book was provided to Turning Another Page by the Audiobookworm Promotions, but this in no way affects our honest opinion of the book or the review that has been written. We provide a five-star rating for A Witch’s Path by N.E. Conneely.

The follow-up to book one in A Witch's Path series was just as good (if not better) than book one. I couldn't wait to start this installment after listening to book one and Conneely does not disappoint!

After the ending of book one, Michelle would love just a bit of normalcy (which is hard to accomplish in a world of supernatural!). She wanted to leave all of the heroics to the police but somehow the adventure always seems to find her. Especially since someone wants to see her dead!! She tries to ignore the death the sorceress she helped captured in book one but when her friend is abducted, she knows that she needs more help and needs to fill others in on what is happening.

The plot in this story develops quickly and is very exciting. A lot of information is explained in this audiobook and leaves you craving for more. We learn more about the witches clans, Michelle's personal family history, magical spells and the supernatural politics that rule their lives. We are introduced to more supernatural characters such as gargoyles and a t-rex, which I love about Conneely's writing. She keeps you wanting more by the unique nature of her characters, she does not stick to the tried and true vampires, witches and werewolves.

I also loved the balance between the police suspense and mystery with some growing romance between Michelle and Elron, an Elf. I enjoyed that the romance does not distract from the suspense and plot of the story (there is nothing worse than following a story and then be distracted by a throw in romance that doesn't always make much sense). Michelle is a strong, confident and growing in her strength as a witch. When she can't get the help she needs, she takes matters into her own hands.

I fell in love with Michelle all over again and can no wait to listen to book three. This audiobook is definite must listen to!

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Jeff Hays. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

This is the second book in The Witch's Path series. I liked the first book but I really enjoyed this one quite a bit more.  Michelle is a young witch but has more power than most witches her age. Her parents are keeping secrets from her and it's bothering her more and more. I could feel her frustration with them, especially when they tell her she needs to stay safe but they don't explain themselves.

Although Michelle almost died in the previous book, she is still working with police departments. She's proud of what she is able to do but she also feels a responsibility to help others when needed. And when one of her best friends is abducted, she tries to work with the police but she has to decide if she is going to go rogue to find her friend. She had sworn she wouldn't put herself in that kind of danger after the last time, but now her friend's life is at risk. The more I read (or listen) about Michelle, the more I admire her. Of course, Michelle has faults just like we all do, but she is someone who deserves respect.

There is still someone after Michelle and it wouldn't surprise me if there are more than one someones after her. Things seem to keep getting more and more dangerous for her and she's lucky to have as many friends as she does. They often seem to know that she needs help before she does. She and her neighbor Elron are getting closer and he's a good ally for her to have.

I definitely recommend The Witch's Path to anyone who likes fantasy. There's also humor, a touch of romance, magic, and suspense...I almost forgot...and a dinosaur! I'm looking forward to listening to the next book.

A Witch's Path is book 2 in N E Conneely's Witch For Hire series. the book picks up where book one A Witch For Hire leaves off.

Michelle Oaks is a covenless witch she is also a consultant to several Law Enforcement Agencies In the Atlanta Area of Georgia. In the series the Humans and the magic world live side by side. Lately some of the Magic world have gone a little rogue and are causing all kinds of problems. In this book one of Michelle's best friend is kidnapped, Law Enforcement isn't working fast enough for Michelle and her friends so she takes it upon herself to come to the rescue. Also there is a large Dinosaur tearing up the town and it is up to Michelle to jump in and take care of business. All of this after Michelle decided to just do her job and consult and let the Police do theirs.

The series is a pretty action packed, there are a few dull moments though, and some repetitive parts not just in this book, but book one which bleeds over into book 2. The books are written in POV between Michelle and Elron. This book makes a bit more sense as to why Elron gets his own POV chapters more then in the first book. With all that being said I am enjoying this series and and ready to jump into book 3.

I was given my copy of this book from Audiobookworm Promotions and the author for review purposes.

Michelle, a clan-less witch who runs a business helping the different police departments who can't afford or don't want a full-time witch is keeping busy. The other things going on in her life could be a full-time job themselves
Her first call of the day wasn't something that people would face every day. A pink and purple T-rex was running wild down the street, destroying buildings. He was at the time Michelle got there tearing up a gas station/convience store which preceeded in exploding. When the smoke and flames died down and it still alive, Michelle was able to read it and found it was a construct held together with many, many spells. Tapping into the spells, Michelle was able to manipulate several to stop the T-rex from destroying the town. The backfire of that caused the T-rex to adopt her, he became protective of her and wouldn't let anyone near her unless she said it was okay.
As you get further into the book you will start coming across things that happened in the first book, so for this reason and the fact that it's good, I recommend that you read book one first and I think the rest of the series will be the same. These are not stand-alone books.
I recommend this book and the series for those 15 and up. There is no obvious sex, though there is talk about, thoughts of and dreams about sex and sensuality but it's very little and is basically a PG version of it.

entertaining paranormal urban fantasy/cozy mystery series

This is an entertaining paranormal urban fantasy/Cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. A young witch grew up without her father by her mother and no other family. She’s beginning to learn recently that the teacher she knew growing up that taught her how to be a witch was actually her father. Her mother and her father come from two different witch clans. They apparently did not get along with each other clan wise. Her grandmother was a mean headstrong woman that thought her daughter was a weak witch and tried to force her to do what she wanted but the daughter went off into the human world and found her own job and made her own way. her mother booted her out of the clan. Behold her and her mate had a baby and they had to hide that fact from her mother’s clan to protect her. Bit by bit that information is coming out in the stories as you read. She works with a place and helps him solve paranormal crimes and other issues. She is a witch for higher and she works for a number of different police departments. This magical world has humans and every creature you can think of. It is entertaining it is action packed at times it is dark and other times it is funny but it is an entertaining and great series. Check it out.

After the sorceress dies in the last book, Michelle thinks things will get back to normal. Even though the witch left a message saying “This isn’t over”, Michelle doesn’t worry about it. But then the same message appears on her bedroom window.
Even though neither the police, Landa or Elron can find any clues, she is pretty disturbed.
Ignoring the threat, there are still jobs she has to do. Mysterious suicides – checking for reasons why and enlisting a gargoyle pack to watch over a neighbourhood. A dinosaur rampaging through a nearby town. And her best friend Amber being kidnapped.
There is also the problem of hew witch powers, she has more than expected and some clans are getting curious.
There is a fair amount of action, suspense, big surprises and humour, the dinosaur Ty is fantastic and funny once he’s tamed. The other characters are great and have interesting interactions.
There are witches, shifters, demons, elves, gargoyles, gremlins and many others.
I do have a problem with Elron, one he keeps mentioning his age and two, he’s an elf so his mane automatically reads as Elrond (LotR). I do like the slow romance between them.
All in all, this is an enjoyable read that I’m really enjoying.

Very good. An exciting page turner. The author has created a world where all super naturals are considered people who live and work side by side with humans. Witches belong to clans and clan less witches are rare. The MC, Michelle is a clan-less witch because her mother was evicted from her clan when it was discovered she was pregnant and the leader thought it from a human. So Michelle was raised without a clan. This seems to be very important to the big story that threads through all of the books. Michelle is a very powerful witch and she works as a consultant with various police departments.

Elron is an elf who likes Michelle. He's 1,500 years old but elves live a very, very long time. Many years ago he lost his wife and spent a couple hundred years in mourning. Now he has a calling and his call has led him to Michelle. He doesn't know why or what's expected of him but he knows he must follow his call.

Evil is afoot and it's after Michelle.

I enjoyed book 2 so much more than book 1. Book 1 was a bit slow as it laid the groundwork for the series, but Book 2 just took right off. An action packed emotional roller coaster, Michelle is dealing with her work case load, trying to have a social life, and find her missing bestie, Amber. There is no short of drama in this installment. I even found myself warming up to Elron right along with Michelle. I cannot wait to see where their new relationship goes. I'm also looking forward to getting all the details about Michelle's past and her family. The author is doing a great job of stringing that aspect of the story along.

The narrator, Jeff Hays, has done a great job bringing this series to life. He has quite the list of characters to voice and does a good job with all of them.

A Witch's Path (2)

This series is shaping up to be quite intense. When I first bought this series, I put it in with my collection of "Cosy Mysteries" nope, got that wrong, nothing cosy about these books. They are really good though. Our resident witch Michelle, has made some new friends and enemies. Possibly it's the same enemy all along. She has also found out a little more about herself, from these friends and from her parents. They refused to tell her much about herself or the their clans. That was mainly her mother though, trying to protect her, but her father has insisted she be told something as she needs to protect herself. There are another 4 books in this series, wondering how this can go that long, can't wait to find out. N. E. Conneely, I'm liking your books

Long winded

It's not my favorite, and lots of the stuff I thought taxing showed up in here too. This book isn't bad, but Michelle likes to dwell around things that don't really point forward, if that makes sense. On one hand they all puzzle together but in the moment, it's all very boring. Her thing with Elron isn't as passionate and they fight. Then there's her thing with her friend. She's self employed and it bothers me that she could take on jobs when her friend is missing. Yes, she still has to work and yes, she can't do illegal things, but the way she tried to make it ok didn't sit well with me. I'd be incapable of feeling stressed with life when someone supposedly important is taken away. And she eventually gets to that point anyway so then what was the point of all that drawn out drama? And don't even get me started on the mother...

Second in the series and this is still true: "I really liked everything about this book. In my opinion Conneely nailed it. The writing is impeccable, the characters are strong and complex, the story is fun, interesting, and unique. I loved it."

Michelle, our MC and main POV, is up to her eyeballs in supernatural emergencies and life-threatening situations. The wonderful supporting characters have issues of their own, with only Michelle to help them. Again, I immediately bought the next in the series!

I highly recommend this totally immersive read!

A purple and pink t-rex as a pet?

Michelle had multiple cases hiking on, but this time everything seems to be tying together. Elron is becoming more of a friend, and there is something after Michelle. A friend is kidnapped, and the police don't have enough proof to rescue her, so who do you call? Michelle. A couple other witches have noticed her power and now her parents are telling her to avoid big displays of magic-too late.

What A Tale

Well this series keeps getting better and better! Well written characters, and the author has a way to impart their emotions and struggles with the events. The plot twists are amazing and keep you turning pages long after you should go to bed. I am looking forward to the next book!

Decent 2nd book in the series!

I liked the plot, the characters, and the flow. The only thing I’m not wild about is the elf Elron (not a fan of the name) dating Michelle, but I can live with it. Recommended!

Thoroughly enjoying the storyline

A fun take on urban fantasy and great world-building. My favorite parts are reading about Michelle's cases with the various police departments. Happy to discover this series and find that there are already quite a few books to enjoy!

It has been a long time since I have taken the time to read after work and this series has been what got me back to the habit that I enjoyed.

We are still following Michelle as she fights evil. She is strong femal and I want to see how this ends
