MM paranormal shifter enemies to lovers. A loner comes across a pregnant werewolf in trouble, and in protecting her, encounters a crazed werewolf who turns out to be his mate. The story ends on a cliffhanger.
Typos: "Publicly" is wrongly spelled with an "A" and an extra "L." There are a couple of stray words that do not belong.

Different…
I guess it’s ok for an author to make their shifters different from the way everyone else writes them, but I wasn’t too fond of the way they are here. Especially the fact that they can just mate with anyone and anything. But it ends on an interesting cliffhanger.

A Mating Surprise
I really enjoyed this story. A new twist in finding a mate. Derek, a lone wolf, who takes hard jobs for months at a time, comes home after months on fishing boat. The first thing he runs into is lone pregnant she-wolf, Lucy. For some reason his protective instincts kick up and he takes her home with him to help her and keep her safe. She's in danger from her old pack because of the pup she's carrying. An Enforcer, Volkov, from her pack shows up right before they reach the cabin. Lucy is petrified. Derek shifts to fight for her. A couple of gun shots stop the fight and Volkov takes off. The next day Derek goes to remark his territory and is being stalked by Volkov. Derek goes after him and doesn't understand why he isn't fighting back. Volkov is submitting to him because they are mates. Lucy told Derek that Volkov is always in wolf form. After a few days Derek takes him to the cabin. Lucy is gone but he knows she's safe. Volkov is hesitant about being inside and he won't or can't shift to human form. Derek gets very angry and scornful which makes Volkov leave. But Derek finds he can't function without his Mate.

The story set up is interesting. We get to know Derek's personality and his big heart pretty well before he meets the wolf who is his mate. There are numerous problems with the mating right off the bat and we get almost as frustrated as Derek. I really enjoyed the story but I have to admit I was seriously weirded out by all the sex in wolf form. I guess it made sense within the framework of the story but ewww. I'm immediately on to the next installment.

It is actually a pretty good book. I'm usually not that impressed with shifting books, but that one is unexpected, easy to read and interesting.

Wow, I've not read a shifter book quite like this one. Shifter books are my favorite and this one is right up at the top. I'm looking forward to book 2
