Two book collection Dragon Heart / Dragon Magic (Elise Ddraig, Dragon Chosen) with BONUS MATERIAL
Last year I was three years old. Now, one year later, I’m nineteen. Mostly. Magic, got to love it. My father is the King of the Gold Dragons Archer Ddraig. My mother, the Queen, is Jennifer. Oh and my other father is First Knight of the Realm Logan. Yeah two dads, one mom, I know I’m weird. Or special. I prefer special most of the time. Except right now.
Lou’s my bodyguard, best friend, and if I’m being honest, my ongoing crush. He has dark, wavy hair, wide, stocky shoulders and the most gorgeous face any man could ever have. Strong jaw, just the right amount of beard line, sharp nose, and the bluest eyes I’ve ever seen. He’s everything that makes a man sexy.
Dragon Heart
Right now I can't control my magic, I don't understand my suddenly adult body, I have no friends, and somehow I've managed to piss off the King of the Werewolves. Oh, all while facing off against a necromancer that's threatening me and those I care about.
Dragon Magic
I got my only friends seriously hurt. I keep having these totally weird - but totally smokin' hot memories of Lou that aren't mine. A shape shifting jaguar whose supposed to train me hates my guts. Oh and no one wants to let me just be me.
Being the Chosen One sucks and I'm pretty sure this is just the beginning.
BONUS #1 It's in the Blood Extra Chapter featuring the heart-racing villain Mateas BONUS #2 Character Interview Columnist Interview with Lou
WOWOHWOWOHWOW! This was the first James D. Horton book I ever read, and you know what they say about your first right? :) And I have never looked back ever since! Well, other than to catch up all of his other books, that is. This is ONE DRAGONTACULAR series that I cannot get enough of! James is truly a master storyteller who is not only phenomenally talent but genuinely gifted as well! Here is what I had to say about his books:
Dragon Heart (Elise Ddraig, Dragon Chosen book 1) by James D. Horton
I’m Chosen. I’m special. 5 GOLD STARS
I have a great destiny. I don’t want any of it. I want to be a girl. HOLY AWESOMENESS BATMAN!! What a FREAKIN' FANGTASTIC STORY!!! WOW! This is my first James D. Horton book and the first thought rolling through my head during the first chapter or two is "Where have you been all my life!" I was hooked instantly! I ABSO-FRACKEN-LUTELY love this story! I am blown away by his writing style, the depth to both the storyline and the characters, but then when you add in the unique & intriguing take on magic, shifters, their varying powers, histories, qualities, laws, rules, etc. well it all works together so perfectly and beautifully to give the story this richness that leaves me aching & drooling for more! I found myself almost instantly so consumed by the story that not only did I connect with the characters, seeing, hearing & feeling with them, but also for them, living their lives right alongside & with them!! And that is all without even mentioning the humor, the heartbreaking & heartwarming moments, the friendships, romances, the mystery & intrigue behind everything that has brought Elise to this point! Of course I do have to point out that this story is told from a first person perspective...a 19 year old GIRL perspective. I don't know how James does it, but WOW! Does he ever! There are so many things I want to add, but I refuse to give any spoilers! James' bio from Amazon US reads: James D Horton's books combine paranormal romance and urban fantasy with humor and gut-wrenching reality. His approach to writing is no frills, fast paced excitement that creates an emotional impact. They are designed to get your heart racing and engage your mind and soul. OH HELLYA did this one ever create an emotional impact that got my heart racing! In fact, I will even go so far as to say that it touched me deep into my soul! While I wait for the next book in this series to be released I am going to try to read as many of his other books as possible! With his magnificent talent, James D. Horton has quite rapidly become one of my favorite authors and I am pretty sure that once you read this book, you will feel the same way too!
Dragon Magic (Elise Ddraig, Dragon Chosen book 2) by James D. Horton
Destiny is calling and I’m not going to keep it waiting. 5 GOLD STARS
HOLY MAGIC BATMAN!! What an incredibly FANGTASTIC story! This part literally picks up from where Dragon Heart (book 1) left off, running at full speed and it never stopped!! I am completely awe-struck at just how unique, creative, imaginative, all-encompassing even all-consuming this series is!! Since 99.9% of it is ?unique and all James, I won't bore you with each piece & part. All you need to know is that the magics, shifters, history, rules, laws, well, EVERYTHING is wholly new and so beautifully & PAWFECTLY crafted together to create this PAWESOME story & series! I love the characters, even if they are the 'bad' guys. They are multi-dimensional with a history, feelings, mysteries, enough character/personality that grabs your attention making you want to know everything about them. Add in this great mundane city with magical beings & paranormal creatures roaming around intent on starting or preventing/stopping a war that will affect everyone, regardless of your 'species'! There is so much more I want to say, but it's impossible to do while keeping it spoiler-proof! Armed with a genuine gift for crafting stories that consume you, James proudly shows off just how tremendously talented he is! I do want to add that the first books of James’ that I have read are the first 2 of this series, and while there are other books in this world that do come before it, I didn’t have any trouble or concerns following this story line. The only problem is that I now want to read all of the other books and don’t have enough time! Rest assured I WILL find the time, as should you! This truly is a wonderful, addictive & fantastically creative book & series that has me frantically from the very start while at the same time trying to go slower so I don’t miss anything! My only complaint is that the rest of this series is not yet released!!!
JAMES D. HORTON HAS A GREAT STORY HERE,DYING FOR MORE SO FAR JUST READ DRAGON HEART WILL ADD MORE WHEN I READ IT. I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW AND THIS IS MY HONEST OPINION Elise Ddraig,Dragon Chosen, was 3 when chosen and aged 15 years in a few hours (magic) now has been taken by Remy(mentor/ teacher/ guide) a black dragon, to a safe place.Remy is the only male dragon shifter who can use magic, like Elise he's special, as she is the only female dragon shifter who can shift to dragon form and use magic(or learning to control and use it) she really is only 4 years old.He was the chose in his time he failed his test and magic got weaker, if Elise fails it will get even weaker, if she wins magic will return. Lou is also there he is Elise's bodyguard , best friend, and secrete crush. Elise now has seven ancient dragons in her head always talking, fighting interacting with her whatever she is doing, she has learned to block them out.She lives a life of studying all day, patrolling all night for supernaturals doing the wrong thing .She meets her first friends on patrol one night Rose and Rory not she can't tell them who or what she is.They tell her a place to go for coffee , food, and loud music. But getting there she is ask "What are you?" She tries to act like she don't know. But Rose closes her eyes and when she opens them Elise knows she is a werewolf,so is Rory, so she just tells them Dragon shifter, which they could hardly believe. Rose's father is the Alpha King , she invites Elise(daughter to king of the gold dragons) to a party the next night. When she gets home there will be a big talk over her telling as much as she did and about the party. But the party doesn't go as plan and leads to trouble, The werewolf king blames Elise and forbids her to ever come around or talk to his daughter again. But the kids do get together and are the ones to figure out what is going on,a list of who it might be and who done it. And Remy allows the three do go check it out and deal with it. I CAN'T WAIT FOR MORE.
DRAGON HEART/MAGIC COLLECTION-Stories filled with suspense and romance.
This story features Elise a sultry, audacious dragon-shifter-the chosen one; Rory and Rose, two powerful wolf-shifters who become Elise's friends; Remy, Elise's mentor and black dragon-shifter; Lou, Elise's bodyguard and the man who haunts her dreams.
What you'll find in these stories; a cast of amazing impressive and engaging characters, spectacular story-lines, potent and picturesque scene descriptions, camaraderie, horrific danger, gripping suspense, heart-wrenching moments, filled with action, fascinating magic, demons, phenomenal banter, pent-up rage, heated passion, and a cliffhanger ending that leaves you awe-struck and yearning for the answers you desire.
DRAGON HEART-BOOK 1 Elise is the chosen one, a dragon shifter training to save magic. Elsie desires to control her magic and yearns for friends and love. Horrific danger lurks among the people in Kansas City.
DRAGON MAGIC-BOOK 2 Alex is wreaking havoc in the city. Elise abandons her training at Afallon to help her now friends put an end to Alex’s monstrous ways.
INCREDIBLE fascinating well written creative reads by a genuinely gifted author. I absolutely relish this series; a most exhilarating read. The spine-chilling suspense holds your attention from beginning to end. The characters spring to life with the dynamic plot and spectacular scene descriptions. Elise is a fabulous sassy valiant heroine, and her unwavering devotion for her friends shines throughout the stories. I eagerly await the next book to see how Elise faces her new challenges. If you relish shifter stories with spine-chilling suspense and action this is definitely a fabulous book/series for your library. {I was given a copy of this book for a completely honest review}. In the world of shifter stories the possibilities are endless and always fascinating. Without reservations I highly recommend this book/series.
First off let me say I love the writings of James D. Horton. He rates up there with Rowlings as far as I am concerned. This collection could be made into a series or movie and would have a following without a doubt!
I read each book when they first were release and re-read them as this collection was released! So good!
I love Dragon Shifters so it was a no brainier to read this book in the first place. Book 1 Dragon Heart I was hooked from the moment I read " Yeah two dads, one mom, I know I'm weird. Or special. I prefer special most of the time, Except right now."
Can you imagine going from age 3 to 19 over night all because of magic and being "The Chosen One". Elise is the princess of the King and Queen of the Gold Dragons. She is the only female able to shift to a dragon ever. She is being trained to take over the responsibilities of keeping magic healthy in the world. In this book we meet her guide Remy, his girl friend Sarissa, Lou the body guard who Elise has the hots for * which I laugh cause she is 19 but she is 3/4 years and then their are the ancients in her head who are helping her learn magic and other things as well. In this book for me it is more of an intro to the characters both Elise as well as the other characters her "friends" which are more front and center in the second book.
Dragon Heart- This book is so packed full of action and adventure. Elise and her "friend" (yes you notice I do not like to give away story lines...sorry just me)... are in for the fights of their lives on Afallon. This book would be the perfect show or movie!! This is not a romance although I am sure at some point we will see some from Lou and Elise but at this point this is an action suspense paranormal at the highest and best! I personally am waiting for the next part of this series to come out!

Elise is a dragon shifter princess, who has gone from being 3 to 19 overnight. Suddenly the fate of the magical world rests on her shoulders and she isn't even sure where to start. Then there are Lou her bodyguard and Remy her mentor, and lets not forget the 12 ancients in her head.
Yet somehow she feels all alone in the world, until she meets and forms a fast friendship with Rose and Rory. These three get into some trouble and try to fix things, but it doesn't all go smoothly. How will things end, will the bad guys or the good guys come out on top???
I love how much this book just sucked me in and that i couldn't put it down until I had finished it. There is more coming and I can't wait to see what all happens in the future with Elise and her friends.
Absolutly wonderful story! James D Horton does it again. These books kept me hooked. You can actually relate to Elise and the emotional turmoil she goes through with everyone's expectations. She is the chosen one to save the magic on earth. She is never alone. She is not sure she can do it. Everyone has there own agenda with the exception of Lou, her body guard and crush. These books are wonderfully written and will have you hooked and wanting to know more from the first chapter.
I was given these e-books by the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. My conclusions are my own. I was not compensated in any way.
This author did a very good job with these characters and the story line. It told the story of the Chosen One....which you need to read the story to understand what that means. And the job was well done. You understood what was going on and how it needed to be done. Very interesting this story. Good reading, give it a chance.
The Awakening series continues, this time focused on the daughter Elise. I did find it a bit slow going, for me though no less interesting. I guess I wanted more information. It is important to read in order to fully grasp the machinations running this world the author has built. Definitely reading the rest of the series.
I previously read both these books separately, but glad to see them together in one book. It has some bonus material. I truly enjoyed reading these stories and I'm waiting for book 3. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
